Quite a stylish Spanish tapas restaurant in the heart of the bustling Cumming City Center. I was in…read moretown on a quick work trip and found myself right around the corner from here when hunger struck around lunch time. I took to Yelp and found Santa Maria right down the block. The location, awesome reviews, and photos made it a no-brainer. My lunch companion and I decided to share the queso fundito and shrimp empanadas and both were great. The queso fundito came with roasted corn and a garlic toast while the shrimp empanadas were plated on top of a bed of salad. The empanadas were a nice size and I would totally order these just for myself for lunch. I added a shrimp tempura taco to round out my meal. It was juicy, a bit spicy because of the jalapeno mayo, and overall a nice way to end my meal. I'll wrap this up by congratulating them on landing a spot on Yelp's Best New Restaurants list for 2025. Only 100 businesses in the ENTIRE country get on the list - so this is huge. Based on my experience, well deserved. Definitely give them a visit soon!

The cauliflower appetizer was a hit with everyone and the portion was huge. I personally would have preferred it to be cooked a little less, as it was quite soft. The patatas bravas were decent. The tres leches cake was excellent and came as a generous slice. The milk was served on the side, which we poured over the cake. We shared it among six people, and it was just enough to satisfy our sweet tooth. Our server was very friendly, and the restaurant itself is really cute. Around 7pm on Saturday evening, just as we were leaving, a man and woman started performing live music with vocals and guitar. We were on our way to the Lou Sobh Amphitheater (just a quick walk over) to see a cover band, which made for a fun night out. This whole area in Cumming is a great place to hang out.

"Short leash" in RULES FOR DOGS- yet a person continuously allowed his dog to walk in front of everyone in a path to get in and out. "Remove dogs if they are noisy" RULES FOR DOGS - Another's dog barked and squealed nonstop throughout our meal. I even asked the food expeditor if I could buy the dog a steak so it would shut up. He replied "we cannot do anything like that". It is hard to enjoy the sing along music when people allow their pet to bark nonstop, of course one barks they must all chime in occasionally. I get it, it is the lake, want to bring your pet, then please teach it to behave. Our waitress did an ok job throughout the meal. We started with beer and wine and the Calamari Appetizer, this was pretty tasty and enjoyable. Next, she had the salmon as did our guest, they both liked the dish, note about the sauce, it is a bit on the spicy side, but very tasty. I had the Fish and Chips, the fish was fried crispy and cooked perfectly, not greasy at all and very good, the coleslaw and fries were also tasty. I am sure we would NOT make this a regular place based solely on the unruly pets. There are many other places on the lake to eat where the food is just as good, and they do not allow the pet owners to ruin other people's meals. I gave the Pete's the benefit of 3 stars even though 2.5 would be more appropriate based on the lack of enforcement of their own posted Rules for Dogs. Why have a sign?

I like the clear cocktail buckets vs the white ones they used to have. I can now see my drink when taking a pic (although they could of filled it up). The voodoo juice is always great. I tried a paloma, but had to send it back because it was so bad (sour old taste). My friend lined the mango Margarita, but I thought it was way too sweet. I miss the chairs out on the grass area to just sip a cocktail. They are all gone & there is only a dog house in that area now. The patio is all covered now. The tables in semi sun with the awning is gone too (husband likes this, but I'm a sun person) . The fried green tomatoes were delicious!! My husband didn't like the pimento cheese on them because they are soggy by the time you get to the bottom, but the rest of us loved them. The brisket Philly was good (& greasy if that isn't your thing). The fish tales & fries are always a favorite! They give a large portion of fish & they are always so fresh & tender. They look like they added items to menu (wings & build your own burger) Great service lije always!
