I must admit, I had no idea where Lorenzo's was in Amsterdam. However, I have been told by many that I should give it a go. Thank goodness for car navigators as I would be lost haha. I called late afternoon same day for an early dinner reservation as I had a hankering for something good. They were able to accommodate so off I went. When I arrived I did not know what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised by the large casual establishment. I was seated immediately by a very warm and friendly server, and given menus to look over. I was torn over so many starters that I decided to have them as a meal along with their well known pizza. I ordered the calamari fritti, the eggplant stack the Italian nachos and a wood fired Margherita pizza. While I waited, I was given some good bread as well as some tomato pie and it was all so tasty. The portions here are generous and I had to take a good amount home. No complaints here though as it was all delish. I can only imagine how good my leftovers will be next day. For Mother's Day, we figured, why not butter up my boyfriend's parents with some Italian takeout? I mean, who needs flowers when you can give the gift of carb-induced euphoria? His mom's a total Italian food fanatic, so it was a no-brainer. We scored big time with Lorenzo's Southside - their family-style portions were like a challenge to see how much we could stuff our faces. We ordered two gigantic plates of chicken parmesan with rigatoni, a humongous house salad with creamy Italian, some crispy fried calamari, and a few loaves of Italian bread. It was all ridiculously, mind-blowingly tasty. We loved it and the price was around $100, which was an absolute steal. Not to mention, the staff... everyone was beyond customer service saavy. Very polite and we did not wait for our order or to be rung up. It was all smoooooooth sailing at Lorenzo's. We'll definitely be dragging them back there soon, because, priorities. read more

Our waitress was friendly and the service was great! The ambiance is good and looked very clean. Some of the food was good. Some of it was just a bit underwhelming. The fresh fried mozzarella has "spicy vodka sauce" on top, but there wasn't much of it, and it didn't taste like much of anything. I tried their home made spinach ravioli and they were just kind of bland, however the walnut cream sauce the ravioli was served with was tasty! At the suggestion of our good friend, six of us gathered at Lorenzo's Southside in Amsterdam NY. What an amazing place to eat! This is top of the Line Italian food at its best! I had the Chicken Franchise with pasta, my wife had the Eggplant Parmigiana. Definitely one of the best I've tasted anywhere. One friend had ordered a pizza and that looked really good, crust was brown and not burnt. Our waitress was excellent, kept our glasses full and kept everyone happy. The restaurant has an outdoor dining area which they have covered with plastic and used space heaters to keep it comfortable for those that chose to sit there. Well to tell you the truth we were disappointed. It looked to be a popular restaurant but the culinary experience wasn't that great. There was confusion about seating to start. But once seated our waitress brought us complimentary pizza pieces. It was more biscotti. Stale and hard. I ordered a house salad which came out looking like it should have been from a diner not a fine dining restaurant. And the pizza was just so so. The pasta dish flavor was mediocre but worse was the pasta was over cooked which I consider a Nono. So yeah it was gonna be just a one time visit. OK, we're from California and we are total foodies. This is probably one of the best Italian restaurants we've ever eaten at! proportions are huge. All of the sauce and marinara are delicious. Even their signature house dressing is to die for.!! All the servers are great and on point asking if you needed to box up food or grab checks, making sure you never waited for anything! Water always full! I give this place a 20 out of 10!! Absolute fire! I just told the waitress I want it really good fruity wine and she delivered on point! My husband got some sort of margarita drink and it was absolutely delicious. Brittney was our server and she is just adorable and honestly super good server.! We made a reservation for a Sunday night dinner and were seated right as we arrived. They have a great patio and outdoor bar, but we sat inside at a comfortable booth. Service right from the start was excellent and friendly. We shared a Neapolitan pizza as our starter, absolutely perfect way to kick off the meal. For our entrees we had the Chicken Parmigiana and Veal Milanese. Both generous portions served with pasta and a salad. We were stuffed, but after tasting such delicious food we had to try dessert. The food was terrific and the portions were excellent, not too large but enough so you might wind up taking some home. I've been wanting to visit Lorenzo's Southside for a long time, and let me just say, it absolutely lived up to the hype! I visited on a Saturday evening around 7:30pm and figured there would be a wait, but fortunately, the place is massive, and we were seated inside right away. There are ample places to sit, including on their covered porch, expansive indoor and outdoor bar, as well as inside. Our server came over to greet us and take our drink order. They have a lot of different wines, cocktails, and craft beers to choose from. My boyfriend opted for the Italian Pilsner, which is a collaboration between the family who owns the restaurant and Artisinal Brew Works in Saratoga Springs. He said it was good! For our entrees, we shared the Americana Pizza, which was fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil, pepperoni, and Mike's Hot Honey drizzle. It was incredible! So fresh tasting and the pepperoni were delicious. We also split the Stracciatella Pasta, which was homemade garganelli pasta with vodka sauce, grilled chicken, and stracciatella cheese. I could eat this for the rest of my life - it was unbelievable! It's so creamy and delicious. I noticed they offer a dessert pizza, so of course, I had to try it! It came with Nutella, berries, and powdered sugar. It was fantastic! Overall, our experience was A+ from start to finish. The waitress was so attentive, and the food was incredible. I have to tell y'all the Chicken Parmesan, Meatballs, Pasta, Tomato Pie and BREAD, are to die for! Service was on the Spot. Cocktails a very generous pour. The out door Patio with a Bar creates a unique atmosphere very similar to an Italian atmosphere and ambience. The dessert card is similar to NYC Little Italy bakery. Being such a tiny town, we did not expect this caliber of a restaurant whatsoever. We live in Southern California & visit Las Vegas quite often, & this restaurant is right up there with the best of Italian restaurants we've been to at home & Vegas. The seafood bisque & zuchinni flower appetizers were incredible. The pasta dinners were not only huge portions, but amazing as well. All of the sauces in everything, including salad dressing, were delicious. I got the special of the week cocktail called Violet Margarita--sooo good! Delicious Neapolitan pizza that is expensive and exorbitant and made me want to come back for more, until my body said nope. My wallet too. Everything here is homemade, the entrees, the bread, even the freakin' garlic butter! It all tastes homemade too, and you know that taste of you are familiar with it. Their pizza is something to try and I have had plenty of Neapolitan pizza. This was a great experience and a wonderful treat for dinner. Their Pasta Fagioli was meaty and terrific too. Someone mentioned Lorenzo's Southside a few days ago, and after one look at the pizza I knew I had to go immediately. I love wood fired pizzas. There are quite a few places popping up with wood fired ovens and offering wood fired pizzas. While many can be good, this is what great wood fired pizza looks like. The beautifully spotted leopard crust kissed by the wood fired oven, the flavor of the crust, the lightly topped pizza, smart flavor combinations. The crust had delightful yeasty flavor, the toppings were perfectly balanced, and everything was perfectly cooked. If you are used to simple pizza shop slices, this is a step above and beyond. This is a treat. Lorenzo's has an APN certification (Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana). Which just means they literally have certified delicious pizza. They cook the pizzas in a 900°f oven for 60-90 seconds, they offer no substitutions in their perfectly crafted pizzas, and they are not offered to-go. That is because this pizza is perfectly crafted, and meant to be eaten fresh out of the oven. Some may scoff at "no substitutions", but as a foodie, I totally respect the chef and I want to eat the pizza exactly as they intended. This little, but mighty, spot in Amsterdam is rocking the wood fired pizza game. Even with a 30 minute drive from my house, I would return in a heart beat. This pizza style is a rare find in this area, it's worth your time to come here. I didn't try any other dishes other than pizza, but trust me that it smelt amazing in there and I'm sure their other dishes are fabulous as well. I also enhanced the trip by stopping at Wolf Hollow Brewing Company on the way there. If you haven't been there yet, they have great beer, awesome inside and outdoor seating. I came here with a group of pizza fanatics on a warm Saturday afternoon and we tried their pizza. I can't recall what it was called... but it was essentially a sausage and pistachio pizza with pesto. Very different, right? But also very great! The location is a bit unusual: lovely outdoor seating protected from the sun but without much of a view except for more of downtown Amsterdam. From the outside, you could confuse this place with a barn or industrial storage building. But, the pizza we had was wonderful. Service was quick, the staff was friendly, and their prices seemed commensurate with the quality of the food. Recommend! read more

First time back since the new menu, after going through it and seeing the new additions, what an improvement! It's nice to see because the place is getting the recognition it deserves. My wife and I were missing the boneless Italian wings though - where did they go!? As usual service was good for how busy it was, drinks were well made and not watered down but it seemed like the menu prices went up - 22$ for "make your own pasta" seemed a little steep and the regular wing appetizer steep as well. The Vongole dish was good but the sauce was too salty and needed to be reduced more - also it seemed the additional baby clams expected were missing in the sauce. Besides being salty the sauce needed less thickening, it had a grainy texture with little lumps. The whole shell clams were excellent, very juicy, but I just wish the sauce hit the mark. We LOVE Lorenzo's!! We've come here with our families a few times now, and it never disappoints! I love to get different variations of the BYOP (Build Your Own Pasta) and all have been great. Their vodka sauce has a really nice flavor and isn't overwhelmed with spice, the red sauce is perfectly flavorful and their meatballs are huge & yummy. Not to mention- you can't go wrong with homemade pasta! I was lucky enough to come a day they also made cavatelli, which is my favorite. If they have it when you visit, it's totally worth trying! My MIL always gets a pizza, and says it's easily one of the best she's had anywhere. I've tried some of hers a few times and have to agree. It's got that wood fired taste you expect but something about the dough just tastes better than most. I feel like they've got some pretty tasty combos for toppings, too. Their Italian Nachos are also a must- have! The pasta chips are fried pieces of pasta. They have this beautiful crunch but most importantly, they don't get soggy in the vodka sauce. We ordered ours without banana peppers or green olives, but taking a bite of the pasta chip, sausage and vodka sauce together... is definitely a taste explosion. My mom and I shared this and practically licked the plate! Not to mention the staff is always so incredibly warm and welcoming. After visiting Howe Caverns we opted to stay at the Amsterdam Castle. As nice as the hotel was they didn't afford food options and never having come to this part of New York and being used to getting food at all times of the day this is not the case for this part of town. When looking for a place to eat on a Sunday night we did not realize how few options there would be, luckily Lorenzo's was an option. The parking lot was quite busy however abundant. We were quickly seated and opted to be indoors because I love a good booth. The menu was limited which I can appreciate as someone who is indecisive. My partner wasn't very hungry and we couldn't decide to get the eggplant tower of be fake healthy so we settled on a Caesar salad and I got the chicken parm with vodka sauce. Mine came with a side salad and a side of pasta which I also got vodka sauce on. The bread that came along with it had this garlic butter which for someone who hates garlic was really good. The food came out quick and was a large portion. The salad dressing was not the best, with it being a bit heavy on the grain mustard but was not too bad, my partner was not a fan, more for me. The chicken parm with vodka sauce was a show stopper. The vodka sauce was very light and the chicken was pounded thin and not overly greasy. As well the pasta with vodka sauce was really good. We were not able to finish due to the size of the portion which I didn't mind as I had breakfast the next day. Service was a bit slow and we couldn't get a refill but otherwise this place was great and if we are ever back in the area we will definitely come by for some food. read more

They start with this foccacia bread with a thick tomato sauce on top. Perfectly done. Wonderfully fresh. We all ordered cocktails. The italian old fashioned was one the best old fashions I have ever had. No exaggeration. We ordered arrancini and wood fired wings to start. Rice was crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside sitting on a bed of amazing sauce. We all continued to eat the left over sauce with spoons. The wings! Oh how I love thee!!!! Fresh. Hot. I learned about Lorenzo's Southside thanks to yelp, after I started consulting at a local business in the greater Amsterdam, NY area, in March 2021. It was rough for me to leave my family for part of the week, but dinners at Lorenzo's helped lesson that hurt a bit, just as it did again tonight. Tonight (8/11/2021), I walked in and sat at a vacant corner spot at the bar. Immediately Antonio, who hadn't seen me in almost 2 months, recognized me and asked where I had been. This same night, a couple within ear shot talked about how this was their first time visiting, and how they loved it so much, they didn't want to leave. So, it's for first-timers, locals, families and newbies. Everyone is welcomed and made to feel like part of the family. Neapolitan Pizza - They are masters! Neapolitan pizza on par with Naples/Amalfi Coast/Capri (Visited 2011) And Peroni on draft - that's real pizza's beer! Panuozzo (Wood-fired pizza sandwich) - Lorenzo's rotates versions of this sandwich - incredible - utilizing the cooking temps of the Neapolitan wood-fired oven to make extraordinary sandwiches. The balsamic calamari is delicious. Lightly breaded with banana peppers and the balsamic drizzle. I've had this both on-site and take out. Pasta Dishes - Everything has been amazing!!! My wife and I ended up staying at Microtel tonight, and the woman at the front desk recommended Loenzo's. We were presented with an upbeat Saturday night dinner crowd when we arrived. Everyone appeared to be having a good time inside and out on their patio. We chose inside and were quickly seated, and our server for the evening was a very friendly young woman named Randi. Being this was our first visit, we asked her advice and, after listening to our preferences, she recommended a few choices. We went with the pistachio pesto pizza and the tomato and mozzarella salad, both of which were great. The meal's grand finale was a carrot cake that induced my wife into culinary orgasmic bliss that, until tonight, I have not seen in 32 years of marriage.
