He just left my food on the porch in 35 degree weather and I didn't notice until 40minutes later when I was wondering why the food hasn't came yet. The manager isn't doing anything about it even though I sent proof that I did not get a phone call. We were regular customers but they just lost us and I csn not recommend them to anyone. This place is fired. I've been ordering here probably twice a month for years and I've about had it with their inconsistent customer service. The website, their own menu, and the delivery service they use (Mealeo) always say this place is open when I need it to be when, in fact, they are not. Today is not the first time it's happened, but it's certainly the last time I will allow it to happen. I'm not placing an order for a $10 sub. We often place orders that are between $50 and $75. What will end up happening is I place the order, get my confirmation, have my credit card charged, and then no delivery an hour later. Come to find out, it's closed. Do they bother telling you? No. So today, I place an order, it's accepted, and an hour later, no delivery. So I drive down to the restaurant, which defeats the purpose of placing a delivery to begin with, and see all the lights are off. Only then do I get an email telling me the order has been canceled. This place has great food IN SPITE OF ITSELF. The chicken skewers appetizer was incredible. The calzone I had was fresh and HUGE. My son had baked ziti and that was also excellent. The food was great - the service was casual. Very casual - which was fine because the waiter competent and there when we needed him. The attitude of the staff might be read as not caring but they were. Our waiter did a great job. Finally, the only bad thing was that the bathroom was not particularly clean. Given the close proximity to the kitchen this was not great. All in all go for the food. Hopefully the owners will start to realize what they have. We were heading south from a trip and needed a place for dinner. We searched Yelp and found Fresh Basil. We are so happy we stopped. Personal 10" cheese pie for only $4.99 that tastes yummy. Eggplant rolotini for $9.99 that was great! We also had a meat lovers Stromboli that my son said was delicious. The waiter was polite too. We were almost the only ones in there but it was a Thursday night. I feel like this place is a diamond in the rough. It is easy to get to but not very noticeable. read more

So I went on a Sunday afternoon during the middle of an event in the mall next door. I know there are very few places to eat in the mall... only a Chinese takeout place... so I expected a lot of the vendors/exhibitors in the mall would wander over here for lunch. When I went in, there were probably 15-20 people sitting at 4-5 tables and another elderly couple in line waiting to be seated. They had one waitress/hostess for the whole restaurant, and it was her job to seat people, take their orders, get their food, ring them up, and handle any people who wanted to grab slices from the counter. She was completely slammed, but never once lost her temper. The "manager" came out once to tell tell the waitress that she had to call a customer back because they were out of something. Then, I watched the manager retreat back to his hole and just stand around. At the same time, the waitress was literally helping 25+ customers by the time I left. The manager should be ashamed of himself, and the waitress deserved all the tips she got. I forgot to mention the food! She recommended the eggplant/red pepper pizza and I ordered a slice. Once heated, it was good but not great. I imagine having it fresh out of the oven would have made a big difference. But, it was a good taste combination to remember for the future. There aren't a lot of food options near the mall and this place is just okay. The "Fresh" in the name is somewhat misleading in my opinion. Perhaps I came on a bad day, but it is what it is. It really deserves 2 stars but the waitress' attitude made me bump it up one. read more

They recently had a promotional day for Veterans and First Responders, which got me in the door for a meal, and I'm pretty happy they did. There is a ton of variety in their menu for an ordinary pizza place. As a vegatarian, I have several options to pick from that are unique and appetizing, including an eggplant pizza I've never seen anywhere else. As a meat eater, the variety is even more diverse, but I can't comment on that personally. The pizzas tend to be the thin crust variety (though I'm sure you could specially request something else); this makes them feel warm and crispy, which compliments the taste well. Their salads are pretty diverse, and their sandwiches and other options don't seem like "extras" they've placed on the meal just to add variety. I tried a calzone-type roll thing, with eggplant and a bunch of veggies, which was absolutely delicious. The waitresses were friendly and helpful, and the environment was comfortable and welcoming. There are about 3 booths, and a number of round tables throughout. Overall, it's terrific they are so supportive of veterans and first responders, their variety is amazing, and their service was superb. As for pizza places in and around Amsterdam, this is probably my favorite. read more

I have been wanting to try this place since it opened. They have been open for a while, i have just been lazy to drive there. They have an app on their website that you can place your order and schedule a pick up time. This is a huge covienence for me. I used this option on the website and it worked perfectly. I would recommend it to all take out places. You can eat in here, but the atmosphere is a bit to be desired. No fault of the restaurant. This place used to be a pizza hut back in the 80s. Parking is easy here. You drive into the NYOH parking lot and drive to the right. Lots of parking. I ordered our normal Friday take out. Large antipasto, chicken wings with medium sauce and a sausage and mushroom pizza. My food was ready when I arrived. The antipasto was probably the best we have had in a while. Very fresh crisp ingredients. The chicken wings were large. A great size. The sauce on the other hand lacked flavor and there was not much of it. Definitely ask for extra wing sauce if you try this place. The pizza....... not the best pizza not the worst. There are at least 14 places to get pizza in amsterdam and I probably only like 3 of them. I would not get pizza here again. I was not a fan of the crust or the sausage. I may try other menu items in the future. For now I will sick with my favorite pizza place on Fridays. read more

When I asked the manager for a refund, she was a huge bitch and said she couldn't refund me. Very very rude, will never order again and will tell others to not order from here as well. Wow...this is the first time ever I ordered from The Fresh Basil and I can't tell you how statisfied I was. The bacon cheeseburger was cooked just right and was so yummy. The zucchini sticks and jalapeno poppers were awesome. The french fries were just perfectly crispy, and the chicken salad divine. I can't wait to get to my chocolate cake. Stopped here on the ride home from Connecticut. Pulled out the yelp app for a recommendation and saw high ratings here. Plus, they had a yelp deal going on. The pizza was amazing. Many unique specialty pizzas. Pizza reminded me of being in Italy. We ended up over ordering (for 2 adults and 2 toddlers). Garlic knots and antipasto salad to start....French fries & cheese fries...then two personal pizzas (which were larger size than expected): broccoli and ricotta and chicken parm pizza. They are not bad. I was frequenting the place when they were in the Amsterdam Mall as well. Something I've noticed as of late....prices have gone up some and the portions have gone down some. Because we order from here frequently, past and present, it is something that I immediately noticed when it started. Again, not a bad place, not great either. Pretty much like the other pizza/italian places in the area...average. Personally, I've found Goodfella's to a better choice for us lately.
