The server made an honest mistake, and did not correct it, when I had enough of her poor attitude and asked her to pack up our main to-go and bring the check, she became ridiculous. Said I wasn't gonna talk to her some type of way, she was cussing and told me to meet her in the parking lot. Yeah, I'm not kidding. She also threw away our food that was untouched and told us to leave. They could improve by hiring friendly staff, tips are not a guarantee when you treat people poorly. The ambiance is overcrowded and unpleasant as were the staff members we encountered. The manager was ready to handle the situation appropriately, but we politely declined as we were just ready to leave. If I ever want it in the future, I will try Lorain. read more

Amazing pizza here. And cool family ambiance. So we drove a bit to get there. Saw a post on social media about their pizza and had to try it. Wasn't sure when we arrived if it was worth the drive. The place was packed. Had a 15 minute wait. Well, we got a small BBQ pizza and a small regular pep. Tried the pep and it was very impressive. Soft pillowy inner crust and a crisp outside with a great balanced taste. Loved it! The sauce and good quality cheese was impressive. A masterpiece for a simple one topping pizza. Bravo!! You usually know you are dealing with a pizza master when the pizza comes out on the plastic dimpled serving pans. It keeps the crust crisp and is a must for all pizza places. Many don't get them and the crisp crust they worked for gets soggy in grease. The BBQ was even more next level. I said "wow!" when I tasted it. Again, a balance of flavors that were plentiful and so delicious. Probably one of the top two BBQ pizzas I've ever had. I'm still thinking about it and may make another drive to get this pizza soon. The service was good. Waitress woman was very nice and informative and seemed to be a fan of the food. Which is nice. My only tips for the business owner...get a shelf installed up over your host station to hold pizza boxes and don't put them on the bench customers are supposed to use to wait for seats. People were kind of being made to feel like they were in the way just for waiting inside on a cold night. Also ask your wait staff to give several moments for their cigarette smoke to clear them before running back in the door to get back to work. Half the small restaurant filled with a smoke smell when one lady came back in. She was a nice lady and hard working....just wait a bit before you're done hotboxing a heater before heading back in. The vibe is 90s pizzeria. It s very old school in how it looks, but the pizza is fantastic! Waiter and waitresses are very nice, and your drink is always filled at no extra charge. There was a hair in my dinner. I asked the young lady who brought the dinner to me if I could speak with a manager. She refused. She just took the plate to the back. She brought the remade dinner back to me. I didn't like her attitude. She was acting like my request to see a manager to address what was going to be done about THEIR Health Code Violation was an annoyance to them. The server took away the beverage that I was consuming while I was in the bathroom. She proceeded to bring back a to go cup about the size of a kiddie drink. I asked again to see a manager.. When the manager finally came, I tried to explain to him that when I asked to speak to a manager the first time about THEIR mistake, he also copped an attitude toward me. He said that they offered a 25 percent discount. The food should have been free. All that I should have been charged for was the salad and my beverage. They were very condescending toward me. I will NEVER patronize them again nor will I encourage others to do so. They never even apologized to me for THEIR mistake. That is a way to repel customers - not attract them!! read more

Side note: this was at their new location in Lorain, OH This location is new to our area but not to the county! So I've had their wonderful pizza and other items as well. This location has been an anticipation for a few years as they would serve woodfire pizzas in the area until the Lorain store was in the process! I'd rave of this pizza for years as my first experience was the original location in Oberlin, OH! So under assumption I thought the Lorain location was just order to go once they announced their opening, but arriving I noticed an outside dining and then inside had dine in as well! The staff greeted in a timely manner and sat us. Seeing the menu here it's much smaller options to choose from so we chose the simple medium ultimate pepperoni, and the Garlic knots for an app! Garlic knots were tasty but the bite was a bit too crunchy for me, it was served with marinara and cheese sauce. The pizza was nothing short of amazing, it came out piping hot so eating the first slice or two may have to be enjoyed with a fork for smaller bites, we left with just one slice left as we got so full! Great food and service We went on a Sunday and the restaurant was packed. Outdoor dining was full but after a short wait we were able to get a table inside. They don't have a kids menu so I ordered a spaghetti and meatball dinner for my kids to share. It was a great portion and they had plenty to bring home. Stopped in for the first time last Sunday. I have to eat gluten free, so I was glad to see GF pizza crust. I was expecting cauliflower crust, but the server said it was not. I ordered it anyway, and I'd like to suggest they look into cauliflower instead of what they have. It was almost a Bisquik-biscuit like consistency. Super high rising, dry, and quite hard to bite through - especially the leftovers the next day. Cauliflower crusts are usually thin and crispy, and in my opinion, superior. A very good place for a pizza. Lorenzo's is the best pizza in Oberlin. There's not that much competition, but it's still one of the best I've been to anywhere. It has a fantastic special for lunch. You get a very good value. Be sure to go for lunch. It's not possible to get a deal as good as this at any pizza chain. The lunch special is a personal size pizza and salad. It's only $8, which is crazy. You choose from any of the regular or specialty pizzas. A few are so loaded it's amazing they're included. The vegan pizza is packed with lots of vegetables. It's good even without cheese. There's banana peppers, green peppers, olives, onions, spinach, and tomatoes. As for salad don't overlook it. The dressing is homemade, and so much better than bottled stuff. It doesn't have that much room inside. It's a family owned business and they treat everyone like family. Nothing wrong with the food its an okay-quality pizza but my only hang up is that its a 20 dollar pizza which very rarely is worth it when compared to Dominos down the street which has a medium 2 topping for 7 bucks. This place tastes amazing when someone else is paying but when you're footing the bill you can taste how middling quality it is like it is slightly better than a frozen pizza but not 10-20$ dollars better. I don't recommend Dominos but unless you're loaded I can't recommend Lorenzo's either get a walmart frozen pizza add some italian seasoning, add some pepper flakes & parmesan cheese and your golden. To clarify I am not saying a 20 dollar pizza isn't good it's just that this specific pizza isn't worth 20$. Now here's my bias, maybe Detroit pizza has ruined my pallette and I only accept quality stuff for my money, but I still chow down on those frozen pizzas no problem, who knows. However staff are wonderful anyone I've talked to has been incredibly kind and helpful when dinning in (on someone else's dime) service was amazing! read more

I ordered carry out pepperoni and it was excellent all around! I am very pleased with the crust -- the perfect char to crust ratio. The sauce is so flavorful and it's not overpowered by salt. I've been to Lorenzo's several times before and remember the pizza is delicious but I haven't had it since in years so I'll have to update my review when I try it. I recently went with my family on a weekday for lunch. They have a lunch portion menu which I can appreciate. I had the lunch lasagna which comes with a house salad and garlic bread for less than $8. I think that's a really good value. The house salad was standard, veggies were fresh. They make a great house dressing which you can now purchase by the bottle. The garlic bread is average, good but nothing overwhelming. The lasagna was a good portion for lunch but kind of underwhelming in terms of flavor. To me it was mostly sauce and mozzarella cheese. I wasn't a big fan of the sauce and I didn't see very much meat, ricotta, and very few noodles. The server was friendly but slow. I will definitely return but I think in the future I'll stick to the pizza. read more

Lorenzo's is the pizza place to go to in Oberlin! I don't go there often, so when I do it is a treat. We had a long break at work and decided to order out. The service is friendly and the food is great. I have never been disappointed. My friend ordered a salad and they never gave her dressing for it. That was the only thing she ordered, so I do feel bad that she had to eat a dry salad. I am not sure what socially distancing procedures are set in place since we ordered out. Okay, look. Lorenzo's pizza is quite good. I've only had it a handful of times, due to it being a twenty to thirty minute drive from home, but it's worth the drive every time. That being said, I don't believe for a second that it is actually wood fired. It does not compare to any other wood fired pizza I have ever had. There's a very particular texture to a real wood fired pizza, and this ain't it. The dough is slightly waxy (in the best possible way), and yellow. There are none of the hallmarks of a wood fired pizza. The crust is neither light nor airy, and there is no evidence of the telltale char on the crust or the cheese. It lacks that smoke taste that I was expecting. If it is fired at all, it is most likely in a propane-fueled oven, and the dough recipe is ill-suited for such an application. But. But.. it works. After the trip home, even a lukewarm slice is still good, and a seven minute jaunt in the oven at 175 (in the box) revives it nicely. The sauce is somewhat tangy, and they definitely use high quality cheese. The topping distribution is pretty average, which i believe to be a good thing. Fresh, or on a quick reheat, it's a very good pizza. Maybe top ten. But after a night in the fridge? Not so much. Heating from chilled is not recommended. The dough soaks up an unacceptable amount of oil ( odd for a "wood fired" pizza), and it tends to crumble when you bite into it. If you were eating the crust alone it would feel much like chewing a fancy crouton. Imagine a crouton made out of compressed layers of flake pastry. Those may be great in a salad, but they make a poor pizza crust. Under the toppings the crust is softer, but still firm. It doesn't wilt under its own weight, but only slightly droops. But then there's still the oil. You know, I wanted to give this four stars, but the reheat game just isn't hitting it. *** read more

My wife and I stopped at Lorenzo's for lunch today. It's near the end of October and It was in the 70's (unreal) so we sat outside on the patio. Only one table had customers inside as everyone decided to sit outside. I've posted a less than stellar review in the past because our pizza was skimpy on toppings. We always order a deluxe so there's just no excuse for that. However today was simply one of the best pizzas we've had in a long long time. Anywhere!!! We ordered a Medium Deluxe and it was perfect. Baked to perfection and plenty of toppings. We've eaten here many times and have come to believe it simply depends on the person who's making the pizza. Whoever made our pizza today was an artist. You could tell they took their time putting the toppings on and it simply tasted great. Also, the young lady who waited on us was a great waitress. She was smiling and just plain nice. I jave been eating at this place for about 3 years and still love this to this day. Unfortunately they are starting to fall off a tiny bit hence the reason why I gave this 4 out of 5 stars due to them not cooking the pizzas fully. This can be easily solved by just asking them to keep in the oven a little longer. Without having them crisp it you will be left with a fine pizza but there will be areas on the pizza that are still doughy or soggy. The ambiance of the place is extraordinary, I like eating outside with a medium size pizza. All and all it is a great pizza place to eat at, just have them crisp your pizza. read more

After hearing of this place for almost 2 years we finally were able to stop for lunch. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside under the umbrellas which was great. Service was fast and we ordered a 12" Deluxe. The pizza arrived hot and fresh and had a great flavor. I normally like really thin crust, but this was so nice and crispy that it was every bit as good as a thin crust. Our server was super friendly and very efficient. The restaurant is not very big so I can imagine it gets very crowded during peak times. The menu has a nice variety of selections so we will be sure to come back and try something else. 8/23/18 - I have been here twice in the past 3 weeks and have had bad experiences. The first time we waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for a salad and 2 sandwiches at 12:30 on a Wednesday afternoon. Service was terrible and since we needed to be somewhere we had to wolf down our food. The second time was this past Sunday when we went for salad and pizza. My husband and I were both sick for 3 days after eating here. This is a great spot for pizza in the downtown Oberlin area. The food and service were both excellent. I started with a Side Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette. The salad is basic with greens, mozzarella cheese, and one cherry tomato. It is what you'd expect from a local pizza place, but the dressing was tasty. My parents and I shared a Medium Margherita Pizza. The size was perfect for a light lunch since baked goods were to follow. The pizza crust was crispy and delicious. I liked that sauce and the toppings tasted fresh. It was a very tasty pizza. The service was attentive. We were greeted and seated quickly upon arrival. Our waitress was friendly and checked in on us several times while we dined. The inside of the restaurant is not very big and looks like it would fill up fast.
