We stopped here for breakfast during our layover in New York. We were really wanting a fresh new york bagel, but Lord's bagels didn't really meet those standards. The bagels weren't made fresh, so if you are ok with a reheated bagel, then this place would be great for you! The bagels were light and airy, in true new york bagel fashion, but it just didn't have as good of a chew as I would have liked. The bagel could have been salted and flavored more as well. I have ordered from Lord's very often and the breakfast sandwiches are ok. My issue is that the hours are misleading. If your hours indicate closing at 2pm, how are customers suppose to know that you close the grill at 1pm. You either close at 1pm or you close at 2pm. If you close at 2pm, customers expect that they can order menu items until 2pm. So because the grill was closed, I ordered a bagel with cream cheese. The bagel isn't fresh. Stale. Likely reheated. It's sad because they have the monopoly on breakfast in this area of hillside. When there's no competition, proprietors do as they wish. Also there was a delivery person there to pick up and they ran out of a type of bagel, instead of staff members at Lords making the call to tell the customer that they were out of the ordered bagel, they told the delivery person, who seemed confused, to do it. Why should a delivery person be responsible for telling your customer that you're out of what was ordered. I just feel like Lord's had better service when they first opened. Sadly I will not be ordering from them any longer. read more

The bagels are softer, not dense or chewy with a light crust. My husband prefers this type of bagel, but I'm more of a dense, chewy, crispy bagel kind of person. The other day, after a long 2 mile run through the treacherous streets of crack Central, crawling through the door. It's clear that they're doing something that works for a lot of people. I probably won't be visiting again, however. I came from out of town hoping for a bagel unlike what I can get at home. These were chewy with a tough exterior. Toasting helped, but ultimately, I was kind of dissatisfied.
