I have ordered from Lord's very often and the breakfast sandwiches are ok. My issue is that the hours are misleading. If your hours indicate closing at 2pm, how are customers suppose to know that you close the grill at 1pm. You either close at 1pm or you close at 2pm. If you close at 2pm, customers expect that they can order menu items until 2pm. So because the grill was closed, I ordered a bagel with cream cheese. The bagel isn't fresh. Stale. Likely reheated. It's sad because they have the monopoly on breakfast in this area of hillside. When there's no competition, proprietors do as they wish. Also there was a delivery person there to pick up and they ran out of a type of bagel, instead of staff members at Lords making the call to tell the customer that they were out of the ordered bagel, they told the delivery person, who seemed confused, to do it. Why should a delivery person be responsible for telling your customer that you're out of what was ordered. I just feel like Lord's had better service when they first opened. Sadly I will not be ordering from them any longer. read more

The bagels weren't made fresh, so if you are ok with a reheated bagel, then this place would be great for you! The bagels were light and airy, in true new york bagel fashion, but it just didn't have as good of a chew as I would have liked. The bagel could have been salted and flavored more as well. (I got a blueberry bagel and could not taste the blueberry at all). Overall, quaint little bagel shop in Newark that's ideal for a quick breakfast on the go, but I probably wouldn't come back. After an early morning drop off at Newark, I looked on Yelp to find some breakfast. We found Lord's Bagels on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The bagel shop is very cute. They have an expansive menu beyond just bagels - omelettes, pancakes, etc. they also have tables where you can order a the counter and choose to dine in, which we did. I ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel with scallion cream cheese (my favorite combo) and my husband ordered SEC on everything. The bagels are fresh, tasty, and baked with cornmeal. The bagels are softer, not dense or chewy with a light crust. My husband prefers this type of bagel, but I'm more of a dense, chewy, crispy bagel kind of person. Everything was cooked fresh and right in front of you so I can see a little wait if this spot is busy. And by the looks of the area and lack of any other bagel shops I'd say they get busy. This place was bright and well-lit. The staff were friendly and kind. I felt incredibly welcomed. They had a LOT of traffic while I was there. It's clear that they're doing something that works for a lot of people. I probably won't be visiting again, however. I came from out of town hoping for a bagel unlike what I can get at home. These were chewy with a tough exterior. Toasting helped, but ultimately, I was kind of dissatisfied.
