Always wanted to try this place. And since I was at Newark airport I might as well try it. I got the signature bagel on an everything bagel. It was fresh with a good chew and a solid crust, exactly what you want from a New York style bagel. The everything seasoning was loaded with garlic, onion, sesame, poppy, all there in every bite. The signature filling was generous and balanced, with enough cream cheese and toppings to make it feel like a real meal instead of just a snack. Service was quick, which matters in an airport. Price was a little high, but that's airport food for you. The quality made it worth it.

Reuben Bagel, toasted twice everything bagel. Very delicious well made. $17 bagel at airport!!

It's quick, and near the end of the terminal. When I went, there wasn't a line at all. I got a pastrami sandwich on an everything bagel which is toasted and the meat is warm. There's no vegetables in here?? I got a soda and chips from the store next by since the bagel chips here are $10! There's seating on the side with outlets.

I'm not sure whether this is just a random bagel place that is licensing the name Ess A Bagel, or if it's actually Ess A Bagel but since it's the airport they figure they can earn a strong rate of return by charging premium prices based on their name and airport location and it doesn't matter what they actually serve. Second, Newark Airport is in Jersey so I'd rather a good jersey bagel spot there. Anyway, the bagel was fine for airport food, and it would have been solid but I don't like that Ess A Bagel is diluting its brand with this place. So 3 stars if the place was called "Terminal A get a NJ bagel before heading back to Austin", but 2 stars because it's called Ess A Bagel. And, not for nothing, we have a couple jersey bagel places in ATX that are pretty good!

This is an insult to the Ess-a-bagel franchise. Bagels are incredibly stale, they skimp you on the cream cheese, and overall it is way overpriced. Like I said, the bagel was stale and almost impossible to bite through and chew. I would definitely avoid this if I had the option.

One more bagel review!! I had ess a bagel on my list of places to try in NY and ended up trying it at the Newark airport. This location is pretty decent with some seating available. I was there early morning, and there were a couple customers before me. The wait was a bit longer than I'd anticipate, but it was so worth it!! I got the lox bagel and ate the first half during my plane ride home. It was delicious. I saved my other half and ate it at home the next day, and it was still so good!! So i think it would've even been better eating it fresh. The thickness and chewiness of the bread was just right, plenty of salmon, and right amount of cream cheese. Price was $19.89 which is in the middle out of the three places I went to during my trip.

I love this little place in the airport. I always stopped there when I come into Newark and I always give good reviews because they are really good so I'm not going to give a bad review today. However, I was disappointed this time. I asked them to make my bagel well done and they didn't listen so it ruined my sandwich that I got so next time I'm going to have to stress the importance of a well well done bagel because that's how I like it and they usually do it for me but this time they did not. I felt it was very rushed. I paid $23 with the tax and the tip and I was sadly disappointed this time.

Derived from Eat" in Yiddish is "Esn" (in German, it's "Essen"), so it essentially means "Eat a bagel." This establishment was my pick for breakfast as first timers to new Terminal A at Newark Liberty. Upon arrival by gate A15, patrons around here seem to agree, as evidenced by the steady line that stretched out to the walkway. But the line moved fast, and while one's waiting, you can figure out your order. I've decided on the morning classic with egg, sausage patty, and Swiss cheese on a toasted wheat bagel with iced latte. The bagel was super-soft, but the top actually featured some crispness. I couldn't get over how large this was, as it was tasty, and the drink hit the spot. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The price is comparable to the area. I can recommend this place.

Multigrain bagel + lox cream cheese

Walking through the newly refurbished Terminal A is like walking through an entirely different airport: the layout is sleek, the walkways are clean, and there are actually solid food choices! Looking for a quick breakfast before a Sunday morning flight to Phoenix, I stopped at Ess a Bagel. The prices are about what you'd expect for airport fair ($2.00 for a plain bagel, another $4.00 if you want cream cheese on it) but the service is efficient and, unlike Poppy's in Terminal 3: this is actually a decent bagel. I ordered a multi grain bagel, not toasted, with lox cream cheese. The bagel was a little scrawny but had a nice amount of chew, and was slathered with a healthy dose of cream cheese. As bagels go, it's so/so: it pales in comparison to what you'll find at your local bakery. As breakfast food in Newark Airport? It's among the best you'll find.

Taylor ham egg and cheese on everything

Already out of sausage at 7:30am, opt for Taylor ham instead. Sticker shock when I go to pay... $12 for a single breakfast sandwich. Disappointment when I unwrap the sandwich to see a single sad slice of Taylor ham and a flat bagel. There's no way they are actually selling the ess-a-bagel bagel. Should've know. Womppp.

Great bagels, and I didn't have to be in NYC. Missed my flight, so I saw this pleasant surprise. The bagels are nice and crisp, and the scallion cram cheese is amazing. They don't keep track of your coffee orders when you get the order, so you have to mention it again, but they were good at getting drink for you.

The BLTA is amazing! The bagels are fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly even given the crowd so fast paced environment. The seating is limited, but taking it to go to eat in the park on a beautiful day is

Not the most exciting food option in terminal C but not many quick options at the end of the terminal by my gate. Bagel sandwich was ok. The service was not the best not very friendly staff.

Service was poor. Confirmed 3 times that we didn't want a toasted bagel, but Mohammed was too busy watching the women to pay attention.

TERRIBLE!! Took 10min to get a toasted bagel. Not enough staff considering it's at an airport.

Basic seating with nothing fancy. A full jar of fresh pickles is on the table. The pastrami is second to none. Seriously. You get a generous portion of pastrami on rye. Greasy, fatty, just perfect! The onion rings are the best. They are famous for a reason. I go a few times a month so, I'm always greeted by name and promptly seated. The food always arrives shortly after the order is taken.

Luckily I found Hobby's Delicatessen via Find Me Gluten Free and was so glad to find that they do legitimate gluten-free options with a dedicated fryer and prep space to prevent cross contamination. I had the gluten-free pastrami wrap with fries for $23.95 and my husband had the #5 pastrami and corned beef with coleslaw and Russian dressing for $25.95. he also got the drip coffee with free refills for $3.25. Service was amazing. Owner's came out and chatted with us and preemptively made sure that I was aware that my food was safe for me to consume. Our waitress was incredibly personable and sweet. There were free pickles on the table. I'm not even a pickle person but I had three because again, I've been dying for vegetables after being in Europe. Great portions, safe celiac options, personable service, refillable drinks and no charge to use the toilets (although I didn't need to use them during this visit) This is what makes American restaurants great and Hobby's ticks all of those boxes.
