    Lord Bakers

The Restaurant was definitely a highlight on our trip to Ireland! The host Lord Baker himself was so fun to talk to and the food was excellent! The seafood chowder was the best in Ireland!

Booked this place for Dinner for our last night in Dingle peninsula area and had a great time. Very attentive service, the host and his wife were charming and loved the memorabilia decorating the walls - our table was right near a photo of mine host with Norm from TV show 'Cheers!' I got the chowder as my starter and it was lovely and light. More salmon and white fish rather than mussels or clams. For my main I got the Catch of the day which was Turbot and it came with an absolutely lovely Lemon and chive cream cream plus veges (cabbage, carrots, celery and potato). My Turbot was awesome but if returning, I would order lamb, which a co-diner got and looked lovely plus just cabbage and potatoes (I'm not a celery or carrot fan) Definitely recommend! 10/10 the best restaurant in Dingle. We took a group of 7 here but the service was so quick and friendly. They have amazing seafood dishes as well as meat (the lamb looked delicious). They have an "early bird" special for dinner from 6:30-9. (Coming from the states, that doesn't seem early to me!) I got oysters on ice and salmon and both were beautifully prepared. Our waitress at the end came over and talked with us about Dingle and where to go and such. Definitely check it out!

Lovely restaurant with a welcoming host who is happy to share stories and chat. We had the seafood chowder, crab claws in garlic butter (delicious), and the lamb shank. The lamb early bird dinner special was ginormous and very tender and delicious. A massive amount of food for one person. Dinner came with brown bread, and all in all was a lovely experience!

Average food at an above average price. Group of 6 - variety of meals. My beef bourginion was pot roast in a bland wine sauce. Heard the pepper steak was good. Fish eaters were happy. Hen party in the back, restaurant was quiet otherwise - on a Saturday night! Proprietor was there - it would have been nice from him to introduce self. Rather, we guessed. Suggestion: save money, unless great service is more important than great food.

We ordered the following: Starters *House cured salmon and cod in nori seaweed - excellent, sushi quality, the cod was nice and salty, portion wasn't the largest *Warm smoked mackerel with horseradish and dill dressing - really tasty and a nice portion *Flash pan squid with chiles and coriander- outstanding with a kick Mains *Pan fried black sole on the bone, dill, and toasted almond butter-maybe the star of the show, a large portion, fall of the bone and the toasted almond butter was awesome *OOTB fish selection; John Dory, sole and halibut fillets served with a lobster sauce - the fish was great, but the lobster sauce had zero flavor *Dingle bay lobster from the tank- we got the last one, it was excellent The beer and wine were excellent. The service was great. The interior had a tile floor with a sort of Mexican fishing village theme. Reasonably priced for top level fresh seafood. Highly recommend.

The front is a basic and unassuming, but neat, blue building. Inside remains simple, but quality, with light wood, soft light, and sea themed decor. As the menu changes so frequently, a dish can run out that evening, it is handwritten on a chalkboard that is brought to the table. It was very difficult to choose, the entire menu was well done. The brown bread was also the best of the trip, theirs had more seeds and the right balance of dense. Be careful to not fill up on bread as you will not want to miss any of the rest of the meal. Since the menu changes so frequently, describing what we ordered is not helpful. Both dishes were incredible, fresh, cooked perfectly, and with interesting and well matched ingredients. We ate every possible bite. We managed to save room and share a dessert, worth every calorie. I'm surprised to see any negative reviews. In my option, for the quality of the meal, the prices were completely reasonable. If you are in Dingle (which if you go to Ireland you absolutely should as the town deserves a visit), make reservations!

I have to give a special shoutout to the vegan burger--it was absolutely outstanding. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and thoughtfully put together with great toppings and a delicious bun. It's not always easy to find a truly satisfying vegan option in a pub, but this one exceeded expectations. The veg soup was also really good--comforting, hearty, and clearly homemade. And the salad greens were incredibly fresh and crisp, which added a nice, light balance to the meal. Great food, friendly service, and a lovely setting. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in Dingle!

I gladly chose a glass of Rockshore Lager instead. My Lunch choice was an Open Ploughman, as it looked interesting and wanted to avoid yet another Irish meal featuring potatoes. That was pretty tasty, as was Gayle's Prawn and Salmon dish. Nice place!

SERVICE Delightful and welcoming servers. They were on it with replenishing drinks and asking how everything was. AMBIANCE From the outside, the place appears very unassuming. We sat in the back at a comfortable table, the seating is spaced well enough to provide privacy. The sound level is also comfortable. For drinks we ordered a port wine and a local stout. Both were satisfying. Our starter of mussels was absolutely superb. The mussels were sweet and tender. The sauce that bathed the fish was really delicious. I ordered the spicy Spanish fish stew. The fish were truly fresh and delicious. The stew sauce was a bit spicy and also excellent. It would have been a great soup on its own. My wife ordered the halibut served with a mushroom sauce. The sauce was great, the fish was high quality and fresh, but it was absolutely tasteless. The preparation by steaming unfortunately ruined an otherwise very good fish dish. Our dessert, the Sticky Toffee Pudding was really good. It has lots of flavor and whole sweet, wasn't overly so. I would have wanted to give Doyle's 5*. But with a very expensive entree being mediocre, it would not have been honest. We told the staff our impression and to their credit, they were completely receptive. I would absolutely return for another meal here, but would be careful to ask how the specials are prepared.

I had the Fish Pie: salmon, cod, smoked haddock in white wine cream sauce topped with mash(ed potatoes). It had plentiful fish and was served very hot. I liked the variety of fish. The smokiness from the haddock complemented the simpler flavors of the cod and salmon. Potato topping was slightly browned under the broiler. The fries were good. This also came with another excellent pre-dressed small green salad and good coleslaw: light on the mayonnaise, tangy, and peppery. The wife had the fish and chips and I thought it the best of at least 3 we've had in Ireland. The batter was consistently crunchy, thickness appropriate for the fish, and the portion generous. Again, served with sides of the same green salad and coleslaw, and more mushy peas. I think the wife likes these more than I do. The server was welcoming, the surroundings inviting, and we spent a relaxing 35 minutes or so and, refreshed, continued our walking tour. Sadly didn't get to try the Sticky Toffee Pudding because we had planned on ice cream down the street. Looking at the website just now I see they have rooms upstairs. We shared a beetroot salad, which was excellent with yummy garlic bread. Sticky toffee pudding was the finale. It was good, not great. The edges were a little dry and the dough was coarse, not smooth and velvety as I hoped because of others I have had in the past elsewhere.
