Pros: the eye doctor was thorough and seemed vested in the health of my eyes. He took my concerns seriously and educated me about my eyes.
Cons: The staff! Initially, when I was picking out my frame, they were super friendly and helpful. However, things went downhill pretty fast from there, viz:
a) After about a half hour of looking for a frame and not finding one to my liking, I requested a copy of my eyeglass prescription. Suddenly the staff weren't friendly anymore and became cagey very quickly! They said they couldn't provide me with my prescription at this time because it would take time for them to "process" it. When it became clear that I was not leaving without my prescription, they finally gave it to me.
b) They mislead me about my benefits. They told me my insurance covers $100. toward a frame. When I contacted my insurance, they told me they cover $125. toward a frame.
c) The male salesperson insisted that I was at a great risk of developing an eye infection due to my daily contact lens usage. To note, this staff member knows nothing about the health of my eyes or my eye history. I just finished seeing the doctor who said my eyes were in good health and made no mention of any concerns pertaining to my contact lens usage.I've worn contacts for over 20 years and have never had an infection, yet this salesperson was insisting, arguing with me even, that I was at a high risk and therefore should purchase more expensive frames as I will definitely need to wear them more than I think I will. (totally unethical for a salesperson to make unsubstantiated claims about a patient's eye health as a manipulative tactic to upsell)
d) They mislead me about my benefits again! After requesting my prescription they insisted that my benefit cannot be split, meaning my insurance REQUIRED I purchase my glasses from the same place that provided the prescription. Upon phoning my insurance to verify that this was the case, they assured me that it was not. They told me I was welcome to purchase my glasses from any location and it does not have to be from the place that provided the exam. read more
