I'm genuinely surprised this place has 2 1/2 stars. We made reservations for 6:30 PM on what they call "steak night." We stood there for 15 minutes while we were completely ignored. Finally I went up to the waitress and asked her if we still had a reservation at 6:30? It was 6:45. She said there was no hostess working tonight and I could sit down. She said eventually someone would serve me. (?) Seriously???? I've actually never been to this place and I got a very "dive bar" vibe from it. It's very smoky in there and they blast loud annoying music so you can forget talking to the people you are with. We ended up leaving (shocking right?) and going to a different restaurant. Last night I went to longley's to see a local band. Everything was great up until an encounter with a young girl behind The bar. I had some friends Meeting me at the restaurant and asked if I was able to save a few seats at the bar and was told in response Absolutely Not. I. Could certainly understand a response of no but she was so abrupt. It was off putting. It was completely downhill from there. She gave me the evil eye multiple times throughout the night and when another bartender said that I was able to save the seats she came along and really let me have it. It's unfortunate because other than this it was a good experience. I had ordered a turkey club sandwich and the fries were horrible. This is not a big deal to me as I really didn't want to eat fries anyway. I hope someone from longleys reads my review and reprimands.The bartender she should be a lot kinder to people who are coming to patron the restaurant. read more

This restaurant charges a surcharge in addition to your meal if you pay by credit card. I went on Sunday for the first time and our bill was itemized. A surcharge was added if we paid by credit card, and nowhere was this disclosed. We were charged an additional $6. This is against the law per CT law (see below). It was not a discount, it was in addition to our bill. We questioned it, and the subpar bartender could not offer a reasonable explanation and said we had to pay it. We did, however, we discounted it from the tip we planned to pay the wonderful server and waiter - we brought it to his attention and apologized, as we intended to tip him above the standard amount. I will never go again! Surcharges Connecticut law as amended by Sec. 28 of Public Act 24-142 prohibits a business from charging a customer a surcharge, which is any additional charge or fee for using one payment type (usually credit card) over another payment type (usually cash). However, the law does allow a business to offer a cash discount. Some businesses may tell you that you'll be charged an additional fee for paying with a credit card, which violates the law. In most cases, however, it may be difficult to tell if a business is charging a surcharge or offering a legitimate cash discount. For example, a business may list the price for an item and then charge a fee when you pay by credit card; these charges will often be represented as a "transaction fee", "processing fee", or "non-cash adjustment" on the receipt. This would be a surcharge. One way a business can comply with the law is by posting a sign stating, "all listed prices are discounted by 3% if you pay in cash". Another way a business can comply is to have dual pricing by listing a cash price and a credit card price. Gas stations do this already, as required by law if they offer a cash discount. We went for dinner last night & will definitely not be back. We'd been to Cafe Allegra so we were expecting a similar experience but what a disappointment. Our waitress was nice - not experienced, but that happens. She was attentive enough & that was appreciated. My pear martini was very sour. I really don't like sending stuff back so I asked our server to ask the bartender for a shot glass of simple syrup. Since she didn't know what that was, I went to the bar to ask myself. The bartender picked up a plastic squeeze bottle, smelled it & held it up to the light and then began rooting around under the bar. When he finally came over, he said he'd bring it over when he found it. He never did, so I returned the drink. Simple syrup was listed as an ingredient, so the mystery as to why so sour was answered.I sent the drink back. Food was meh - frozen apps, lumpy cheese sauce for the pretzels. My meatball panini was a mess to try to eat & my husband's steak sandwich was pretty gray. Neither of us finished. They have a big crew of regulars & the fact that we weren't was uncomfortable. The overall atmosphere is just kind of a bummer. Cafe Allegra had a totally different feel. Just a note - we were nice to our server & tipped her accordingly for the bill. She did a fine job & the food & drinks are not her fault. Always be patient with a new server who is trying & TIP!! read more

Worst experience ever! Don't bother! Went for steak night & sat at the bar. Bartender was less than attentive & very low on the wine pour at $12 ea! Dinner came out right away & corn & potato was cold that the butter wouldn't even melt. Steak was marginal with some mystery gravy on the side. Bartender upsold me on the sauted mushrooms & onions of which I only got onions. Place is a pit & not worth it! Allegra's owner was much better! read more

Been coming here since paul allegra's & well beyond that. It has NEVER been this bad., An old time Branford standby has gone down the tubes. Im embarassed for the musical talent who they have the PRIVILEGE to play here . I know they have to make a living. Never have I seen a place so unprofessionally run. We 'reserved' a table only to have it overtaken by their 'woke' , mannerless clientele who decided they needed to sit there & be damned if the table was currently occupied. A man began pushing us out of our table early in the evening. He knew we were sitting there as he was standing nearby for quite some time. We explained that it was a reserved table so he reluctantly got out of the chair but continued to lean on the table all night as if to stake his claim. This was very rude. It was hard to talk around him or reach for food or drinks. He eventually left but later he returned with more people & took over the table AGAIN. we again asked him to leave. They then became combative & began to fight with us. At this point we decided to just leave. The night was already ruined. Management was ZERO help . They shrugged their shoulders & condoned this. This resulted in a ZERO TIP & a silent promise to never return. Longleys has an uneducated, mannerless customer segment who dont seem to understand the basic concept of a reserved table or that if someone is sitting in a chair it means that chair is presently occupied. This IS 2025 after all & I thought this was basic knowledge. I guess not. There is ZERO reason to come here. Even for your favorite entertainment. This is not an establishment that values its customers in any way, shape or form. FORGET about reserving a table in peace. its NOT going to happen for the animals will pounce . For a normal, civilized experience in a restaurant that cares about its patrons and provides a good experience, do yourself a favor & go elsewhere. read more

Allegra's wasn't too bad. Food was decent. Service wasn't terrible. Had sort of a dive bar vibe. Sounds okay right? Well this isn't Allegra's anymore. Longleys is a whole other breed. I went here with my entire family. Mother and father were celebrating their 300th anniversary (idk they're old). Anyway, we walk in, tell them we have a reservation, and to no one's surprise, they're clueless about it. They put us in some side room to fit 10 people, but in the back of said room is a bunch of people getting tattoos. Where the fuck am I eating dinner? Prison? After that shock, we wait for what felt like 15 minutes just to get a hello from the waitress. She took our drink orders and scurried away. 20 minutes later we get our drinks. My god. My cousin found a dead fly floating around in his drink. Get the health inspector in here pronto. Jon Taffer would have gone into anaphylactic shock if he saw this disgrace. Not to worry. After another 20 minute wait, our waitress finally came back took his order for a new drink. This time she only took 15 minutes to bring it. 25% improvement! Next we order our food. I wasn't the hungriest boy in the restaurant so I only ordered some tater tots as a meal. Let's hope these tiny potato scrapings make up for the night so far. Our food came in one at a time about 5 minutes apart. My poor cousin ordered a burger to help wash the fly from earlier down, but it was about 15% burger and 84% bbq sauce. The other 1% was shame. Everyone else seemed to be disappointed with their meals, but was I? Absolutely not! And why not? Because I never got my sought after tater tots. I ordered them at the same time as everyone else. After everyone finished their sub par meals, I asked the waitress about my tots and she said she forgot to bring them out so the chef was remaking them. My patience was running thin. 20 god damn minutes later she comes back and asks "Did you get your food?" You gotta be shitting me. Did you deliver them lady? I told her to not worry about it. I wasn't hungry anymore. The combination of disgust from the horrific service and the sight of greasy people getting tattoos 20 feet away from me ruined my appetite. I went home hungry that night.
