Online check in with a 45 minute wait was pretty spot on. Found out the walk-in wait time was 1 hour and 15 minutes, so I thought it must be good if this place is so popular. Anyway, nice atmosphere, warmer and more upscale than Texas Roadhouse. Unfortunately the positive experience ended there. Long wait for drink order. Long wait for food order. Extremely long wait for dinners to arrive. I was so hungry. We were told the kitchen was backed up and they got more online orders than they expected. My husband and I eat at Longhorn Steakhouse often. Ordered the hand battered chicken tenders, 6 piece with barbecue sauce. Asked bartender to change to the 9 piece instead. Chicken tenders came out, and WOW! They were not tenders, they were the size of Burger King nuggets. I called the bartender over and asked what had happened to the normal tenders I've ordered in the past? She couldn't believe how tiny they were. She sent a manager out to show her how small they were and how very disappointing.. she had no valid explanation, just said they cut them different every time depending on who's in the kitchen. I expected a discount or something to make it right, instead we were changed for a six piece and a 9 piece. $17.99 extra to be exact. My husband missed it and was going to pay for it! So glad I caught the mistake. No discount, no free dessert or comp, nothing, but double charged. Almost $40 for chicken nuggets...no, they weren't even close to a chicken tender. Longhorn is one of our favorite chains with great menu options and good food. The staff is friendly. We called in advance as this restaurant is always packed. They do not take reservations, but this helps lessen your wait time by a little bit. Our waitress was Maria M. and she is the most efficient and friendly waitress ever. She always comes to our table with a smile, and remembers everything we need and brings us our requests quickly. The restaurant layout is similar to any Longhorn restaurant. We sat at a small booth, table for two, and shared the 22oz porterhouse steak and got the White Cheddar Stuffed Mushrooms. Longhorn always provide you with warm bread and butter while you wait for your meal. The bread was delicious. I'm a cheese and mushroom lover. However, the White Cheddar Stuffed Mushrooms appetizer was a bit overwhelming with cheese. The porterhouse steak was made to our liking, medium rare. It was mouthwatering flavorful with every bite. I'm not typically a fan of steakhouse chains or any chains for that matter but our choices in NEPA are limited. Most over season their steaks and I find they tend to be extremely salty and getting a USDA Prime cut is pretty much impossible. That being said, this particular Longhorn Steakhouse is actually pretty good. Granted, my "Outlaw Ribeye" was a bit over seasoned for my taste but it was cooked to a perfect medium rare and they charred the fat on the side, which I love. The broccoli was cooked nicely and the rice pilaf was pretty good too. My wife's shrimp tasted good with a nice grilled flavor and it came with a garlic butter dipping sauce. Her sirloin was cooked on the low side of medium rare which I love especially for a filet or a sirloin but she would have liked it a little more done but she still liked it. Our server, Chris was fantastic. She was very nice but not overly friendly like so many servers are in other places. I like it when you can get a true sense or a server's personality and it doesn't come off as phony. We were very happy with Chris and she was on the ball. Did call ahead seating for party of 8 with 3 kids under 5. A man too the request and said he would alert the hostess to set this up. Even asked If we needed a highchair. We get there and nothing was told to the host, nothing set up and a 25 to 40 minute wait for the us. Regardless of their policy or current capabilities on accommodations we should've been told what to expect, we should have had better customer service from a host that could care less about anything but getting through her shift. I ordered a baked sweet potato with butter, sugar and cinnamon "on the side" waitress brings me sweet potato covered in butter, sugar and cinnamon. To start, I would strongly suggest you retrain the host on giving out quotes for waits. To quote a family with children 20-25 minutes and they end up waiting just shy of an hour to get sat isn't acceptable. At the minimum give the guest the correct wait time to make a decision to make sure they can get their family fed. Upon getting in because I was already committed to over double my wait time and food and fire had a 15 minute wait, the food was correct with no complaint. Service was fine as well. But, the fact of the matter is this sets a horrible tone for my dining experience in addition to a hungry child.
