Everything here is just sooooooo greasy. Burgers seem like they are dipped into butter before being served. Onion rings.. same issue. SOOOOO greasy .. yes I know it's fried food but they go overboard. Maybe that's why so many people like it, I dunno. Stick to the boneless bites and french fries.. they are fantastic! read more

A great stop for a yummy burger. The burger was so delicious. My husband had a chicken sandwich and said it was very very good. He don't take any home it was the good. The cheese for the French fries was so good we could drink it!!! Price was ok $65 for two large sandwiches, fries with cheese, 3 beer, and tip. Really friendly service, family friendly bar and grill. The space is very bar feeling but there is booth seating and it is natural light which was a cool plus adding to the positive vibes. Only down side parking can be tricky. read more

Kind of a small place that is really more of a bar than a restaurant, although it has a relatively extensive menu. Many have complained about getting served by the bartender and getting lousy service but we had no problem. Granted, we went very early in the evening and it wasn't crowded but he was very nice and efficient. For starters, we had a deep fried Margherita pizza, which I just had to try. Apparently this is a Scranton/Wilkes Barre thing because I saw them everywhere. The dough was nice and fluffy and just a tad greasy but what do you want with fry-bread. The problem was the mozzarella slice on the top was not melted at all. Like you had to hang onto it with your finger to bite it off. Next we got the Rum Runner 2 burger. I was vacillating between medium rare and medium as that is what my wife prefers. The bartender assured me the "chef" would cook the medium perfectly and it would have a hint of pink. I also wanted to try both the fries and onion rings and this burger had the advantage of having a couple of onion rings on it. So, first the good news. The fries were exceptional. Hand-cut and cooked to perfection. Maybe a tad heavy on the salt but you can always brush that off. These fries are good enough to make a trip here worth it. Just get a beer and fries. Now, the downer. The burger didn't have a lick of pink in it. Gray as a battleship. The onion rings were way undercooked and I am very particular about my onion rings (went on a huge rant in my last review about them). When I pointed out the burger being overcooked once the bartender brought my bill he said - and I quote - "well, the meat keeps cooking after it comes to the table". Well, it was gray as gray can be when I got it (see photo). To his credit, he did take my wife's cocktail off the bill, which is nice, but it doesn't buy you a star. So, three stars based almost solely on the fries. The rest - meh. read more

While I was in Scranton recently I wanted to try something different. Read the reviews about 3 Jacks and based on the high ratings I decided to give it a try. Great decision. Walked right in on a beautiful day weather wise. Got to pick where we wanted to sit and was greeted with great service. The gentleman the was bartending also was our server and he did a great job guiding on what to try and what they were known for. Heard about the burgers from him and I decided to go with the beef and pork meat combo. Two words, JUICY and DELICIOUS! And couldn't leave without trying the deep fried pizza... where else would you get this? I'd never even heard of it. It was great, something different and tasty l. Try this place! Service was quick and friendly. We had the vegan burgers and they were tasty. The bar had several pieces of Dunmore memorabilia.

We were traveling through and chose this place at random using our GPS. Boy, are we glad we did! Kind of a small hometown bar feel. I suspect the folks at the bar are regulars. Staff is friendly, place is clean, and the burger options are impressive!! This is definitely going to be a regular stop when we make this trip. I'm dying to try the deep fried pizza! Stopped in on our way to Rochester. Ordered onion rings, two burgers and the chicken bites. Sat at the bar and bartender was immediately hospitable. Got us our drinks, gave an overview of the menu, gave us some time to review and took our orders. Onion rings came out quickly and were really good-the house made dip was good. Burgers came out not too far behind-cooked as ordered and really good. Chicken bites left a little to be desired, we ordered them with buffalo sauce. Note to readers-though all of the food was really good, everything had a lot of salt. I'm finding that at a lot of places we've eaten lately, so maybe it's just our taste buds, as we don't use a lot of salt at home. If ever in Scranton again, we would definitely return! read more

So this place just announced they are going out of business. I can tell you why. The food is great however they say the kitchen is open to a certain time. It's not they don't keep regular hours.. Their phone is never on to place an order for takeout most of the time they're online service is unavailable. And their bartenders and servers all spend time talking to each other instead of talking to the guests. It's ridiculous. I sat there the other week for over a half an hour with an empty beer at the bar while waiting for our burgers Because the bartenders were too busy talking both of them. I've heard this from numerous other people as well. It's a shame they have great burgers, great pizza but your staff means everything if you don't have good staff, you're not going to be able to stay in business!!!! I wish I could give it a five but like I said, I can see why they're closing!! read more

Relatively spartan interior closer to a dive bar than gastropub. Burger menu is too complicated with unhelpful descriptions and an unsatisfying selection. For example, the Hawk & Animal: "Two 4oz Beef Patties, Caramelized Onion and Mustard Sear, Cooper Cheese, Thousand Island Dressing, Homemade Sweet & Spicy Pickles, Lettuce, and Tomatoes" sounds like a high-end take on something like an In-N-Out smash burger, but instead you end up with two pieces of meatloaf forming an awkward tower of a burger. Primary feedback here: it is imperative that the chef understands that preparing an excellent burger mandates utilizing the full surface area of the bun while still respecting temperature, otherwise anything you cook will appear as though it was prepared by a drunk college kid. read more

We went here for the first time for lunch and tried a couple of burgers, fries, and onion rings. The burgers were incredible! Cooked perfectly and delicious. Very rich/heavy/filling, so don't worry about getting enough food. The fries were excellent as well. The onion rings were tasty but very greasy, so I couldn't bring myself to eat more than two. We got soft drinks rather than beer, but I see they have Shiner on draft! The service was exceptional. Very friendly, helpful, and attentive. We will definitely be back again soon! read more

This place is AMAZING!! They have extremely unique burgers and you have the option to build your own. My husband had the East meets Mid West which was a cheese explosion ( in a good way). I had the My Big Fat Greek burger which is stuffed with feta and topped with olive tapenade. Both were so delicious. Everything fresh made on the grill with a nice crust on the edges. Hand cut fries and homemade onions rings. We told the bartender we would be back to try all of their chef inspired burgers and he gave us a punch card. Yay! A challenge lol. First time trying this place. Two of us ordered burgers and fries. How can a burger place mess up a burger? Burgers were very dry. Very little cheese and buns were burnt. Fried provolone cheese wedges were good. Service was good. Won't be returning. The place needs some remodeling too. Both of us were burping for hours after eating here and needed to take Pepcid! $16 for a burger!! read more

I took my sons to 3 Jacks for lunch today and had a wonderful experience. There was an extensive list of specialty burgers. One son had the "My big fat Greek burger" which he said was well spiced and beefy, the other had the "Unmentionable" which was a mix of Italian sausage and beef with a disk of fried provolone! I got the Swiss Superman which had delicious balsamic marinaded mushrooms! We were super intrigued by the fried pizzas (which sounded amazing) but how could we not get a burger with that amazing selection. The best part of 3 Jacks was the service. Both gentlemen who waited on us were so kind and welcoming. We're they two of the 3 Jacks??? I don't know but they certainly made me want to come back next time we're in Scranton. read more

Wife and I were in Scranton one night (2 hours from home) and looking for a place to eat. So she found this small hole in the wall burger bar, which we are so glad we went too. The place was packed when we got there on a Sunday evening, but we were willing to wait. Vince was working the bar and greeted us. He was super polite and gave us very fair warning about the wait and that we could take the table in the back. He immediately came to us to get us drinks while we waited. He was super knowledgeable about the beer selection and had great recommendations for my wife. Afterwards, we mulled over the menu, cringing at the idea that we had to pick one or two things out of the huge section to eat. Everything and I mean everything looked amazing. After 20 minutes of deliberation, and asking questions and making a truce to share meals, we ordered. I ordered the Big Country (Beef Patty, Beer Braised Brisket, Rum & Coke BBQ Sauce, Homemade Coleslaw, Sweet & Spicy Pickles, and Smoked Mayo) with fries that had pulled pork and coke rum and coke on top. my wife ordered a DIY burger that was almost as good as mine, but not quite. I don't recall what she even got on hers, because I was in such a euphoric, aroused state from my burger and fries, which I was very tempted to order a second one of. Vince was again very accommodating and checked on us numerous times to ensure we were happy. Also Steve checked on us a few times and was super nice. we chatted with him as well and had a great time. First timers drawn in by the pictures of burgers on FB! We visited for a late lunch on a Friday around 2 pm. We sat at a high table near the bar and the server came right over. She asked if we had ever been there before and then went on to explain the menu, which isn't super big. They basically have burgers, some apps and fried pizza. We loved our super thick, moist burger that was cooked perfectly! I got the Big Fat Greek Burger and my fiancé got the Rum Runner--Rum and Coke BBQ sauce? Yes please!! My Greek burger was filled with feta and baby greens with olive tapenade on top. I'm not typically an olive fan, but this added the right amount of saltiness and flavor. With every bite of my fiancé's rum runner burger he kept moaning and saying how good it was! I love homemade chips and they didn't disappoint here. Really good without being really greasy. I would return to try some other burgers as well as their deep fried pizza that gets rave reviews!! read more
