Today my sister and I went to this location @ 2:00pm as our Christmas time together and to enjoy a good steak. This is one of our favorite places to dine for special occasions. Today our dining experience was one no one should ever experience, especially at a nice restaurant. Today there was a group of st least 20 adults sitting at tables pushed together in the center of one side of the dining room. They appeared to have finished their meal, but were still being served beverages. They were talking, nearly screaming at each other up and down the table. Some up walking around the table, getting louder as time went on. My sister and I, sitting in a nearby booth, sitting 3ft apart, could not hear each other when talking. That group was very disrespectful and disruptive to all the dining patrons in that restaurant. I requested to talk to the manager of the dining room this afternoon. A middle age guy from the kitchen area came to our table. He definitely was not Longhorns typical manager who typically strolls through checking with diners to be sure all was good for them. No suit, no name, no introduction, and worthless and unprepared to handling disruptive groups. He told us there was nothing he could do about the obnoxious, disruptive group. He apologized and said "I am sorry" but I can't ask them to lower their voices....I can't tell them anything. soooooo unsettling and unprofessiona! So he gave no respect for his dining guests and their right to enjoy a nice meal in a place typically very enjoyable for people to have dinner. As an apology for problems with food or service Longhorn always comps your meal, asking you to please return again and give them the opportunity to better serve you. He offered to comp 1 dessert....just 1 for 2 seniors who were dissatisfied with the lack of managements handling and fair resolution to a large group of disruptive diners who obviously brought their party to a public venue! Note----once this group left the dining room, we saw them party in the parking lot, with their drinks in their "red solo cups"! Such a disappointing experience for what was planned to be a happy holiday meal and visit with my sister. read more

First time ever getting food here and I don't think I'll chance it again. We got carry-out. The chicken was super salty. The person I ordered it for literally dipped it water to wash the salt off, then put it in the air fryer and it was still very salty. None of us could eat it. Wasted around $14 on 8 pieces of inedible salt lick.... ETA: I was so bothered by the salty chicken I forgot to mention the rest of the meal... The steak was cooked medium but was tough and flavorless-- I suppose they used all the salt on the chicken. I ordered a 9oz Filet. It must be sirloin. It is so tough. I only ate a small portion in the restaurant. I thought it would be better after I got home & worked with it. It is even tougher. Arrived here for dinner on a Saturday night. Call ahead for seating. Waited 20-25 minutes before we were seated which they said would only be about 15 minutes. Inside pretty nice casual atmosphere. Brown/tan cowboy western deco. I ordered their Renegade Sirloin with shrimp from the menu. Steak cooked medium well with a side order of baked potatoes and house salad. Waitress brought out fresh warm bread while we waited. Food came out about 10 minutes later. Steak cooked the way I wanted. Shrimp was delicious served over a pepper southwest flavor rice. This is our local LongHorn Steakhouse. It's close to our house. I have tried other locations and never been disappointed. This location is no exception! The staff here is excellent, as is the food. Everything came out quickly. The salad was cold, and the entrées were hot. I have not had a better sirloin steak than the ones they serve at this chain. Sirloin is my favorite cut of beef because it has the most flavor, and these folks do it perfectly every time! My wife and I will be spending many evenings here, I can promise you. read more

My always go to place for me when I want a good steak at an affordable price. I always get the Flo's filet. It was cooked perfectly. When you go at dinner time, you get a salad plus a side. I was a little disappointed they ran out of baked potatoes but I was good with other choice of rice. The service was quick and friendly too. I will be back in the future. FYI - Sometimes I'll order to go from this location and my order is always perfect...never missing any food. read more

Burned my food. Not too sure why the cook thought that someone would eat burnt fish. Took forever to get it replaced (replacement was delicious over 30 mins later). Stopped in to get a bite to eat. The staff was polite, attentive but the complimentary bread was tough. The staff got us some fresh bread out and that pleased the misses. I ordered the appetizer order of Wild West Shrimp shrimp, and my wife ordered the Longhorn salmon. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the meal as did I. My appetizer was so large that I took some home with me. I tried my wife's side of mashed potatoes and I was not impressed but her Brussel sprouts and salmon made her evening and that is all that one can ask for. Would I go back, yes I would. read more

I really love this steakhouse, I have been to independence mo, Lee's summit Mo, and north of the river! The greeting always smiling and kind. I love the decor! The strawberry lemonade is wonderful, loved the fried pickles, the baked sweet potato is sooo well cooked and delicious, I absolutely love the flavor and seasoning of the steak, ribeye and one of my absolute favorites is the chopped steak dinner. They have a strawberry pecan salad that is deliciously delightful to eat so much flavor. I had another salad years ago that was my favorite perfection , it was very fine sliced red onions with tomatoes OMG it was so good! Great bread too! Justin is fantastic. We always enjoy the food at Longhorn and are pleased when Justin is our server. Not only because he does a great job of taking care of us but because his sleight-of-hand talent is entertaining. Our top shelf long island iced tea's last night were particularly well-made and at $8.50, we considered them a bargain. We tried their new surf and surf appetizer, it was delicious. One of our orders came out wrong but it was quickly fixed by whom I'm assuming was the Manager and gave us the other entrée complimentary. Will did a great job with service recovery and apologized for the mix up. He seemed to be having an off night but that's perfectly understandable! There are fancier restaurants in this city. There are more expensive restaurant, as well...BUT This Longhorn has one of the best steaks in town. Pick any steak on their menu, and you'll be grooving. Even with the price increases, it's still very affordable. My only 'criticism' is that the mashed potatoes are ...need a lot of improvement...but, let's face it, I don't go there for the sides. Speaking of sides, they actually have a fairly good variety of those, as well. My Dad loves the sweet baked potato. The asparagus is good. I usually get the broccoli...There is something for everyone. Avoid those janky Mashed potatoes, and you'll be fine. The staff is generally good. There is always a new crop of servers, but they are cordial, and seem engaged. The manager is great. Every time we go there, he's always walking the floor, checking on the guests. It's homey. Down to Earth. No surprises...and always a great steak. read more

As Longhorns go this location disappoints. ATMOSPHERE: Every Longhorn is more or less identical, so there isn't much to say here. SERVICE: This is a big reason this location warrants a low score. The blonde hostess had the personality of a wood chip, and she clearly did not know how to estimate waiting times. Her initial 20 minutes turned out to be 35. Our server was a nice guy but appeared half asleep, and he consequently moved slowly. FOOD: This was another reason I chose to give a two star rating. I ordered the 12 ounce ribeye medium rare. It came out medium, and over a third of the steak was fat. I know ribeyes are supposed to be well marbled, but that's on the inside. The outside of the cut should not be 4-5 ounces of inedible, un-rendered fat. I don't know what they pay their cooks, but it clearly isn't enough for them to care about the steaks they serve. No self-respecting chef would buy a steak that fatty let alone plate it. VALUE: Meh. It's a "steakhouse", so one should expect prices to reflect accordingly, but it's exacerbated by poor service and lack of culinary quality control. I am grateful, however, they post the alcohol prices on the menu, because they're a great incentive to remain sober. read more

Unpleasant as hell. We spent our entire experience, nearly an hour, listening to a baby scream and cry without cease. We understand babies cry and this is a natural part of life and can't be avoided generally. But this went on and on and on. The ignorant parents did nothing to console the poor child. However, when we asked our waitress to have this nonstop horrid noise addressed with the negligent scum parents, she basically shrugged her shoulders and said 'Tell me about it'. I took my friend there for a birthday lunch. I ordered the prime rib sandwich. I love prime rib. My sandwich came and it was very salty. I had my friend taste it and she agreed so I told the waitress. She returned and said there was nothing they could do because it was the whole prime rib! Who salts prime rib? My YELP app lead me to LongHorn Steakhouse in Lee's Summit. Huh? LONGHORN STEAKHOUSE?! Really? Holy Crap. It was DEEEELICIOUS. I decided to bring the meal home with me, to enjoy it on my back porch. That was a super idea. Really stellar. I had a nice, fresh side salad. They provided me with an ENTIRE loaf of honey wheat bread. The Prime Rib was MASSIVE. And had a side of garlic/butter asparagus. I am glad I was alone because watching me devour that large slab of meat could have been very disturbing for someone. I looked like a freaking over-the-road truck driver who hadn't eaten in a week. I looked like a velociraptor in a jungle tirade. The horseradish was seasoned with some cumin, and/or roasted cayenne. It was great. And the au jus had a touch of rosemary in it...which brightened the flavor overall. My Prime Rib was cooked well. I actually could have ordered it (medium rare - to medium), opposed to (medium). It wasn't overcooked...but I think I would have preferred it a bit more rare. It's hard to know though with Prime Rib. The asparagus was delightful. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. So... It is always amazing to me that the bar and that bartender set so much of the tone for an entire restaurant. This is my love hate relationship restaurant. Some days it is off the charts great service, super clean and efficient. Others it is slow with dirty glasses waiting to be cleaned, places at the bar waiting to be wiped down. Now I don't know if it is a mind meld that service effects how the food taste but it sure seems to. Service is great the food is great, service is questionable the food is also. Trust me I understand busy and the ebb and flow of business. It is when there are three customers in the bar and one is waiting for a take out order and the other is with me that I ponder where is the that amazing person who waited on us last time that had no problem keeping up with ten people as well as the restaurant service and kept the place clean. That person is asking me if I am ready for a second beer and the other person hasn't even waited on me yet. What I do now is walk in see how the bar looks and if it is clean and the bartender is hopping to take care of you I stay and life is good. If the bartender is struggling to keep up with even light duty I leave and head somewhere else. See love, hate. read more

Went here for dinner tonight with my hubby to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Lots of food, we took home enough steak for tomorrow's lunch. Our wait person when she found it was our anniversary brought us a chocolate sundae to top off our meal gratis, which was really nice. My meal was good, it did not exceed expectations. The side salads were typical of a side salad and nothing stood out as being gourmet. We asked for extra bread, which was promptly brought to our table. I like their whole wheat bread with the honey butter. Our steaks, hubby had the Ribeye, and I had the T-bone, were good. Hubby's Rib have been a bit more medium rare than medium on one edge but as he got into the steak it was more medium. My steak was cooked medium all the way through. The side of steamed vegies I had were good, the snap peas were especially good. Hubby got the sweet potato with cinnamon honey butter and that was also good,. My Merlot was dry...I had the Washington state one, and I could taste the oak...perfect with my steak. Hubby tried a margarita on the menu and that was too sweet for my tastes. Their steak is among the best but honestly the steakburger is the best I've ever had and the caesar salad is as good as any in KC. I haven't tried everything because these are so good. Service is B+ and atmosphere is wood and leather and quiet as long as the music isn't too loud. (I'm old so that probably isn't a problem for others). Happy to take guests, prices are about what you'd expect and the lava cake is delicious. Just add carrot cake and you'll never get me to go anywhere else. read more

Came in for a late lunch on a Sunday. Even though there were a few large parties already seated and several tables being attended to, we were seated right away. Our server was sweet and attentive, and we never felt rushed, which these days it's so hard to find wait staff that remember what it's like to work for a tip and give people a friendly experience when dining out.
