    Homestyle Tofu

We ordered carryout that my partner picked up. I liked my homestyle tofu, but it wasn't breaded as I expected when I saw in the description it was fried. But, it was still very tasty. My partner ordered the Sichuan Style Kung Pau Chicken and unfortunately didn't care for it because it had nuts in it. The prices seemed high for other Chinese places I have been to. Something else that I noticed was that they automatically added gratuity to the amount we were charged; I am not sure why, because we ordered takeout and didn't have a server or anything like that.

Longfei is one of the best Chinese restaurants in town! Not only does the food feel so fulfilling to eat, but the service is great too. Our waiter was very kind and attentive and the manager here was also really humorous too. The Twice-Cooked Pork melted in my mouth and the Fried Salt and Pepper Fish Fillets were crunchy and had a nice kick of pepper that complimented the dish well.

Tofu dishes here are delicious. The wife says that the home style tofu is the best tofu she has ever had. Every time we are here I have some variation of fish and tofu. Service is excellent. Highly recommend.

Probably the best Chinese food in Bloomington, Indiana. They have both Americanized Chinese food and authentic Chinese food to try. The portions are really big. Atmosphere was decent and service was amazing.

I used to eat these sorts of dishes all the time, but I've shifted, in part because at most Chinese places, the vegetarian options amount to tofu with white rice and I like more variety. Here, they do it well though. My home-style tofu came with a sauce rich in fermented broad beans (doubanjiang) and the vegetable assortment included bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms but also some delightful little chilis. And they certainly didn't skimp on the tofu. My veggie egg rolls were less impressive; smallish, black pepper flavored creations with a sweet sauce. I could have done with some different options for appetizers on either their Americanized or their more Chinese menu, or the ability to order a side vegetable without another plate of rice. But the Mandarin being spoken and the quality ingredients were reassurance to me that I made a decent decision to stop here.

interesting chinese retaurant with mexican song in the background. First visit to this restaurant. We planned to visit in 2020, but that timecit was the pandemic. Finally we had lunch here. You can park outside the restaurant. The restaurant is nice and clean. The selection in the menu is huge. Very seldom, I see that many dishes in a menu. There is an American Chinese food menu and authentic chinese food. We ordered Dandan noodles, salt and pepper sparerib, cold beef , eggplant with garlic sauce. Price is reasonable. All are yummy, but they are kind of with a twist. The salt and pepper usually porkchop, and the pepper is white pepper. This one uses sparerib and black pepper. The eggplant is cube size, coated with flour and fried. Never had this style before. The Dandan noodle is soupy. Usually, Dandan noodles are dry, this one more like sichuan chongqing mien. The cold dish is authentic, like what we usually have at other restaurants. The service is good. It is interesting to see the owner come up with food and ask the server to try. He also told one of the customers that " I cooked that." One downside is if you pay credit card, there is 3% fee.

Came here with classmates and sat at one of the large tables in the back with the turning table for family style dining. I forgot everything we got, but I remember we got the scallion pancake, eggs and chives, braised eggplant, mapo tofu, fuqi feipian and an intestine dish. The service was relatively quick and the dishes started to come out one by one. My favorites would have to be the eggplant, chive eggs, and fried intestines. Each had great textures and flavors. Some of the dishes like the fuqi feipian were good, but not as good as it is at other Chinese restaurants in the area. My only complaint is that the prices are a bit high even if you're splitting the check while doing family style dining. The quality of the dishes was good, but I'm not sure I would frequent this place considering the price point.

Upon arriving, it was difficult to park in their parking lot because of how the parking lot was set up. We were able to park nearby and once we got inside it smelled like yummy food :) we ordered a few different things and I think they were all okay. I liked the mapo tofu out of all the dishes we got. The pork was good too. It was loud in there even when not that many people were inside but it is a nice place and the waiters were nice.

3 cup chicken with an overwhelming sauce

While visiting Bloomington, we stopped in at Longfei for dinner. The street was torn up around Longfei but we did manage to find our way in. Longfei is an authenic chinese restaurant with an abundance of Asians dining here and excited. The restaurants was very loud, noisy and a bit messy. There were boxes of soda stacked on the floor, dirty tables and confusion as to who was our waitress. As we entered, there was a bottleneck at the front desk with clients paying and several of us waiting to be seated. We ordered the vegetable egg rolls. 3 cup chicken and Mongolian beef. The egg rolls were crispy and fresh. They had a great taste and were quite warm. The 3 cup chicken sauce was very heavy and thick. The sauce was overwhelming and to thick to place on the rice. The chicken was chopped with fragments of bone along with the chicken. It was hard to eat without using your fingers, making it very messy. The Mongolian beef was fair at best. There were more cut veggies than beef. The seasoning was lacking flavor and underwhelming. A big let-down with the cleanliness and taste of the food at Longfei. Perhaps, I ordered the wrong dishes but the restaurant is not tidy. Unfortunately, I won't be returning and wish them the best.

The best Chinese food I've had in Bloomington, IN. Order the Szechuan Kung Pao, if you are a fan of spicy dishes.

Excellent Thai restaurant with high marks for food, service, and atmosphere…read more I've tried the Thai fish cakes, sweet and sour saute, pad bus sa ra com, mango sticky rice, and Thai iced tea and coffee. The savoury dishes were all super flavourful, cooked well, and generously portioned. Maybe this has something to do with the dishes I got, but I think the flavours here are generally more intense than the other Thai restaurants I've tried in Bloomington, and their spice levels might be a little higher. I've been somewhat underwhelmed by level 3 (out of 5) at other places, so I tried level 4 the first time I ordered here, and it was a little too hot, so I went back to level 3 the next time, and it was just right. The Thai tea and coffee were both very good, especially the coffee. It almost tasted chocolatey. The service is consistently on top of it. I was there on Valentine's Day, and they were slammed but had enough staff on the floor for it; the food was quick as usual and everyone was still very friendly. I also love the atmosphere here. The building is one of the converted houses on 4th St, and there are different dining rooms, some with lots of windows, all filled with interesting decor, and there's also a very nice patio during the warmer seasons. The only problem here is, unless there's a back entrance I don't know about, I don't think the building is wheelchair accessible; you have to go up a few stairs to get to the main entrance.

All were great, fresh ingredients, served in concert, and quickly, too. This was a family meal, and all were delighted, including the children with chicken fingers and fries. We're trying to expand their horizons, but picky eaters are tough. The appetizers were especially good, and each has their own different sauce. My order was well-spiced, and there was enough taken home for a second delicious meal. This is perhaps the best and most consistent Thai food in Bloomington. There are rivals to this high throne, and we try them, too, but this is our go-to for no-compromise Thai, every order consistently great.

RHS bills itself as 'Vietnamese Fusion' and I have no idea what that might mean, but it was good. Very good. We went on a cold day, so eating on the outside deck wasn't an option. The interior is a basic strip mall location with a decent number of tables and plenty of seating, albeit a bit cramped. It's counter service, so it pays to take a look at the menu in advance and know what you want before you arrive. Paid at the counter, and they came to our table with the food very quickly. I had the 'Be Kind to Each Other' Chicken Pho which came with the usual sides of sprouts, basil, lime and noodles. You could upgrade your noodles if you wanted. I also added an order of cajun fries, which doesn't really seem like a 'Vietnamese Fusion' choice, but I love cajun fries so who was I to question them? The Pho was terrific. Loved it. The fries were very very good, though maybe a bit generous on the cajun. Still very good, and I definitely will return for this meal again. Friend ordered the Spam Banh Mi. Seriously???? Well, he did. And he said it was very good. You actually pay $0.50 extra for spam. Again, not sure what world you pay extra for the Spam but he did it. He selected the Fire Engine Tim sauce, which was to be spicy. When I pressed him for more details on the quality he said it could be spicier even with that sauce, but otherwise it was very good. He said to point out on Yelp that "That Diet Coke was clutch" - he may have been making fun of my questioning :) All in all a very good experience and I'll definitely return. I don't find much good pho in Bloomington, so it's nice to have a place for that. I won't be eating Spam anytime soon. I'm giving 4 stars only because the seating was a bit cramped and it was busy inside. I would go 4.5 if it weren't in a strip mall and pretty 'basic' ambiance. And that canned Diet Coke is clutch!

There's a lot of choices on the menu and many entrees are customizable with your choice of protein and/or sauce. The place is very vegan/vegetarian-friendly; they have a handful of vegan protein options and most sauces are vegan, if you do try to order a non-vegan sauce with a vegan protein, they'll check to make sure that's okay, vegannaise is available for banh mi, and they will also remove the egg from the entrees containing egg AND take off the price of the egg. Their food may not be totally traditional but I really enjoy it. The level of "authenticity" will vary depending on what you order and which sauces you get in the customizable entrees. Their banh mi bread is different from the banh mi bread I'm used to but I actually like it a lot more. It's crustier and more tender than the usual banh mi bread, closer to a French-style baguette. They stack on lots of fresh veggies. The tofu is thinly-sliced and fried for tenderness that gives it a somewhat similar texture to deli meat. You can also get any banh mi combo as a wrap with the same ingredients, and while the wrap is good for a change of pace, I have to say I prefer the banh mi because the bread is so good. Their other entrees are also delicious and come in hefty portions. Their mapo tofu is the best vegetarian mapo tofu I've ever had. I usually get a Thai iced tea when I come here. It's strong and just the right amount of sweet. I appreciate the oat milk option! I recently tried the Thai iced coffee and that was also really good. Lastly, the staff who work here are very friendly! It seems like a small operation but they work efficiently so I've never had to wait too long for my order! The only thing that's left to be desired here is that everything is served in takeaway containers and they only have plastic cutlery (except spoons for some reason), but I don't know what they're dealing with in terms of capacity to use actual dining ware, so I am not letting that affect my rating.

It's also good if you're vegetarian because you can customize any dish to have tofu as the protein or no protein. My favorite dish so far was the roasted garlic cream tortelloni. On the other end of the spectrum, I didn't care for the chili garlic ramen. The sauce was too oily, plus the noodles were clumpy and the veggies were lazily cut. Maybe the kitchen was just lazy on that day, because every other dish I've ordered, the pasta has been fine and the general presentation has been better. There hasn't really been a pattern to the dishes I really enjoyed vs those I didn't (some of the other "Asian" stuff has been pretty good, like the Indonesian chicken saute, and some of the pasta dishes have been underwhelming).
