Food: Hot & fresh. I don't order the waffle fries. I wish they'd go back to regular fries or even crinkled ones. The tarter sauce is the same. In my opinion they need a new one. They also need a remoulade sauce. Service: when I walked in Ms. Mónica welcomed me with a nice greeting and smile. She was so pleasant and kind. The whale white guy wasn't unpleasant, he was just blah. No excitement or welcoming attitude. Just there. He was ok but Monica can handle the front. Ambiance: it's the same as it's always been. They need an up grade and a drive thru. I will say that they upgrade it to clear cups and they look very nice compared to what they have before. So overall, the experience was the same. I have been to Long John Silver's many times, and this review is based on this specific experience. We ordered door dash from them and purchased a big family meal, and I don't know who was cooking but it was perfect. Both the breaded chicken and fish were CRISPY and cooked very well. The flavor was so on point. The fries, coleslaw and hush puppies were pretty good. And the bottom of the chicken and fish boxes had extra of those delicious crispness at the bottom. This is an old school fast food seafood joint, hee hee. The decor is nautical and it's been the same for awhile. It is always very clean and tidy. The seats and booths are comfortable. The service is always outstanding. The crew here has always been 30yrs old and up. Very pleasant to deal with and extremely professional. The fish and seafood is good and I love the sides. Always well prepared. The food is presented to you neatly and it looks yummy! The crew here cares if you are happy. The manager usually walks around and asks customers how they are doing and if they are enjoying their meals. Old fashioned kindness. It is a nice change of pace. read more

I had lunch at this Long John Silvers. I was drawn to the Cheesecake Factory cheesecake they have. When I walked in the cashier greeted me. It wasn't a long wait, so I came at a good time. I ordered the fish and chicken combo and red velvet cheesecake. Everything was about $17. The fish and chicken were good, but I was only given about 6 waffle fries, and the coleslaw had a sour taste. I went back in and the lady was nice enough to exchange my coleslaw for more fries. The fish is a decent size, but the chicken is kind of small. The cheesecake was $5 and it was a tiny portion, but I won't lie, it was good!!! Tasted just like Cheesecake Factory too. I'd get it again for sure. Everything was pretty average. On Monday December 2, 2024 I had a craving for fried fish. I seldom eat fried food. I stopped at Long John Silvers at College Park Shopping Center in Va. Beach. I have not been to this establishment in many years. While the interior could use some enhancements, the staff was amazing. They were very pleasant and were all working hard to fulfill each order. I ordered the 2 piece fish meal with Cole slaw and green beans. Everything was tasty and I have nothing negative to say. The lady who took my order, collected the money, and boxed up the food did an amazing job. I saw the other 2 men working hard also but she was multitasking and did it well. While I don't eat fried food often, especially the greasy choice, if I chose to, I will go back to this location. She deserves recognition for being such a hard worker and paying attention. read more

My husband and I were so excited to see a LJS so we stopped for lunch. I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT! It's like a time machine with all the original features. The people are SO nice, the food was hot and tasted like it did when i was a kid. Thank you for staying open, now that we know you're here, we will be back. Also...restrooms were clean, and the dining area was clean. So much better than the fast food restaurants of today. Wish I could give more than 5 stars. Considering that Long John Silver's is slowly going away. The chain still has a few stores around. It actually made me sad when I visited this store. The out dated equipment, furniture and the fact that the place was badly in need of a renovation validated its decline. Luckily for us fans of the chain, the food is still as tasty as ever. On this day they were minimal staff, and they looked overworked and tired as they pumped out those orders. I waited about 10 minutes for my order but it was served hot and fresh! You can still set down and dine if you like or take it to go as most did when I was there. I hope to see this restaurant chain return to glory one day but it doesn't look promising. I positively do not know why this place isn't constantly packed! Long John Silvers is hands down my favorite fast food guilty pleasure. I was raised with LJS in Indiana so it's dangerous that this location is only 2.5mi away from my place! Thier fish is what I come for and its is extremely crunchy and savory, especially dipped into thier malt vinegar. On this visit I ate thier fried fish, slaw, corn, fries, onion rings, hush puppies, and crumblies! For $10 one variety platter meal consists of 2 pieces of deep fried fish, 3 pieces of deep fried chicken strips (real chicken breast too), 2 sides of your choice (I chose onion rings and slaw), 2 hushpuppies, and crumblies (little crunchy bits)! I saw the young man frying the fish and chicken and fries and onion rings, so everything was fresh from the fryer. This is not an every day meal, so when I go I know I'm getting some delicious fried fish and sides but they do them so very well! Give LJS a try if you havent and want to treat yourself to some good ol' fried vittles. You wont have a mess around your stove for frying it yourself and a bunch of dishes from battering! I am giving them four stars because I walked in knowing that Long John Silvers is a fast food restaurant that specializes in fast, greasy fish with home style side dishes. Tonight we came in because my kids had never been and my husband wanted some good ol' crunchies (and we got plenty!). Their speed was impeccable... we were not in a particularly big hurry, but were grateful all the same. They had part of our order ready before we had even finished processing our payment. They were very nice... the guy who took our order and rang us up was very kind, listened attentively, and was sure to offer us beverages with our adult meals since they don't come with it (like most fast food restaurants). The tables, seats, and floors were relatively clean and ready for the next guest to sit down! I mean, it wasn't sparkling, but it was clean for a busy fast food joint. :) The bathrooms... not great... definitely not a place to stop if you have a load of kids (or grown ups) who need to use the restroom. There is one restroom for each gender and they're not pretty, though I did greatly appreciate that their sink had genuinely hot water for washing hands... VERY helpful after a greasy feast. FINALLY... the food. Well... it's deep fried fish. I wish their menu clarified what kind of fish it was. Ok, wait, maybe not. It tasted fine. I assume it's not fresh Alaskan Cod. Haha. In all seriousness, it tasted good. Neither my daughter nor myself were big fans of the green beans, but the kids enjoyed their sweet corn and the fried fish, fried shrimp, hush puppies, and fries all tasted great. Not an "old oil" taste at all (which I was almost expecting due to another review). 4/5 because they met expectations for a fast food place that does greasy fish well, but definitely have room for improvement. Walked in with a good meal in mind. I've been to this location once before and the food was perfect! Today it seemed like the cooks were just lazy and over it!! When I received my plate everything was COLD! Fries were stale & fish was nasty! I called to the establishment about 9 times and it's like they took the phone off the hooks! What a waste of $10. I'm giving two stars cuz the food was hot. It came out fast. We were greeted with great customer service, but there were issues. We paid for three meals and each came with two sides. We receive no sides. At all. Only the fish. Two of the meals were missing a piece of fish, one a few pieces of shrimp. We also got one of the fried fish tacos and it was bad. A soggy tortilla with a regular piece of fish and some sauce in it. All the food was extremely greasy and overly salty. I know it's fast food but I want to be able to pick my box without feeling the grease that has soaked through the bottom. Was disappointed with the food. Whoa. Whoooooa. Service was fine. Food came out fast. You ever walk into a place and without touching a thing and it all "feels" sticky? Yeah. For a moment I sincerely thought we walked into a mom and pop restaurant, then I realized that LJS was a re-branding attempt like KFC. While this place desperately needs a a paint job and an update, what it needs more is a scrub brush, a bucket of soapy water, and one day of being closed to tackle how dirty it is. From the front, the line appears to be hidden. Just take a step to the side to get your soda and you get a really good view of the blanket of batter slurping down the side of the fryer. While standing there you can view the Jackson Pollack tea/soda spray all behind the tea canisters. The baseboards are just...scrubbing may be a waste of time, just set them on fire and replace 'em. The single swinging saloon door on the side barely even delineates the kitchen area. The best part. Oh the best part, is the DOS system they used to ring up orders. I.kid.you.not. Complete with yelllowing monitor. Restroom: non-unisex. One room for female and one for male. Walk into one of those and it feels EXACTLY like being in one of those 7-11 restrooms in the middle of nowhere that is also forgotten. Yellow, old and depressed. The parking lot is a delight too. I was told they're waiting on shrimp, not sure why the entire meals was cold and only a 10min drive home, the shrimp were hard and dried out as is they had been sitting for hours, fries and fish were cold and greasy. Ate there in the evening, the little short woman taking orders didn't smile, barely spoke, told the cook to 'shut up'. The line was semi-long, service terribly slow...both in order taking and food delivery. When food did arrive, fish was greasy, fries were cold. The young lady who was expediting was the only bright spot, friendly and smiling. We won't go back for the bad quality of the food foremost but the woman (night manager?) would be enough to keep me away had the food been acceptable.
