I chose a small piece of the baked fish put a few small pieces of the fried fish, one, each of the two different hush puppies, about three fries of each type they had sweet potato, and regular russet, then I made a plate of salad, which had tabouli, which I was excited about potato salad, Caesar salad, regular salad and a beet. I also put about three boiled cold, shrimp, peel, and eat type on my plate. My husband tried most of everything as well. I am a condiment junkie, so I had to get a little bit of their cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, and green tomatoes. In saying all of that, we were optimistic.. the fish is very very average. The tabouli was not to my taste there, the potato salad was spot on very tasty and flavorful. The round hush puppy was undercooked raw center it had potential had it not been under cooked . and the little tube shaped hush puppy was really tough and no flavor, in my opinion this one should be taking off their menu. You kinda had to just find your way and figure it out we realized we were to take our plate and put it in the trash. Our self I was gonna say service was bad but that would be unfair. They're just was no service.. I wish this place well, and I do think it will be a success for those that enjoy quantity and atmosphere is not important as far as it's very loud in there etc.. a lot of rubbing elbows and such. The server brings and refills your soft drinks/tea/coffee (which are included in the price of the meal), and you grab a new plate each time you want to take a trip up to the buffet area like usual. The restaurant was definitely not occupied by many guests at all and it was during peak lunch hours. The atmosphere wasn't anything to write home about, and in fact a little dark and dim, making it somewhat sad. The buffet area is split into several different stations including salads and cold food items, soup, Asian, Italian, American, BBQ and meats, noodles, and dessert. Most of the areas were manned by an employee who would take your plate and fill it with whatever item you want. This is not a buffet where you help and serve yourself. While there is a decent variety of food offered, the quality of the items were very subpar, reminding me of buffet chains back in the day. The BBQ meats were dry and tough to chew through. The fried fish was overdone and barely flaky. The soups were bland and watery. Grilled and steamed vegetable items were undercooked and not very flavorful. You get the idea. The most memorable items I fairly enjoyed on my plate were mashed potatoes with gravy and fried tofu strips. Oh, and I noticed there were a lot of tiny mosquitos flying around The, especially hovering over the salad area. The dessert bar appeared to have a few sugar-free items good for those who have to be cautious or prefer a zero sugar option, and the regular desserts were A-OK.
