The shrimp lacked flavor and the fries were nothing special. I was not impressed with the po'boy, but maybe, I need to try to seafood boil in a bag. This place was just okay to me. I'll have to try something else as I was not impressed.

Ever been hangry but can't figure out what to stuff in your belly? That's me tonight on a Tuesday…read more I ended up here and, honestly, I don't know that I'd go back. I got a small gumbo and catfish nuggets at 6.99 each. Even though they have a sign on the door for drink specials, apparently they didn't last more than like two months because they aren't offering that anymore. So I just asked for a water cup. 15.12 and you order at the counter and get your own drink. The water button on the soda machine sticks, so prepare for it to run for like a full 45 seconds before it magically unsticks. Gumbo came out in about ten minutes, but weirdly wasn't hot. Catfish nuggets came out about ten minutes after that (weird since they are both apps) and I asked for my soup to be reheated. I tried a nugget and it was ok, but there's like zero seasoning on them. Bland as my last tinder date people. For a place that touts New Orleans in the name, there's no creole/cajun influence here. Everything was just bland, especially the gumbo. By the way, he took it to reheat and by the time he returned it (14 min later) I needed to leave. He was nice enough to give me a lid and bag though. Service was ok, but there's like one guy and when he disappeared it was for ten minutes. I don't know if he was having to cook it or what but it made service slow. I've visited three times now and feel a three is appropriate. It's fine if you aren't looking for what the name implies.

The fries were solid, and the cocktail sauce was surprisingly great--I don't usually like cocktail sauce, but I finished it. Service was excellent. Since it was my first time, they helped me navigate the menu and recommended some of their most popular items. The patio is nice, cozy, and covered--perfect for a meal like this. The inside had a nostalgic feel that reminded me of my college cafeteria in a good way, and I actually enjoyed it. And the bread pudding--man, easily top three I've ever had. Honestly, it might even be number one. It was that good.

Service is good the employee taking my order was pleasant. Food was decent and my FISH came out hot. I chose the 2 piece fried fillet combo with fries and hush puppies. LET me breakdown the combo meal. French Fries were well seasoned and served hot. The hush puppies were delicious. They were fried perfectly. The fish was fried nicely, but lacked in seasoning and flavor. You say you are a CAJUN fish grill. I want to taste it. So the fish fell flat and the fries and hush puppies were the star of the meal. Overall a decent meal and I always enjoy a new experience and supporting smaller businesses.

Love Bayou Jacks!…read more First of all they are located in Roanoke and easy to park and walk to the restaurant. They have a huge offering of seafood and sides. My favorite is their fried shrimp and okra. If you have been to Pappadeaux then you know the prices are pretty high for fried shrimp and know that Bayou Jacks tastes better, the batter and shrimp flavor are really good at a more reasonable price. The service is great and they offer a casual dining experience. Please give them a try and become a fan!

We ordered the boudin egg rolls, boudin sausage appetizer, alligator appetizer, and crawfish with the voodoo seasoning. Everything was really flavorful and well seasoned, and the crawfish had a great kick. The appetizers were perfect for sharing and made it easy for everyone to try a few things. They also did a nice job accommodating our larger party. Our server was friendly, attentive, and handled our table well, which isn't easy with a group that size. The only thing that stood out was the manager. He didn't greet any tables while we were there. At one point he brought a dish to our table but didn't say anything, and later spent quite a while standing by the bar on his phone. It didn't negatively impact the service we received, but it did leave us a little unsure about the management presence. Overall, we had a good experience and enjoyed the food. The staff we interacted with were great, but management left us wondering. We'll still come back for the crawfish though.
