Seated quickly as it was mid-afternoon and very low traffic inside. Wait staff were quick, attentive, and happy to oblige two thirsty travelers guzzling waters. My buddy ordered the spaghetti and I ordered what I thought was a personal calzone with spinach, Mozz, sausage, and sauce... what I received was larger than my dinner plate and easily broken into two meals. Yay for hungry people! The garlic knots brought out before the food were a nice touch. I added a little crushed red pepper to them for a kick. Everything was hot, tasted fresh, and the dipping sauce was excellent. Absolutely no complaints on the food or service. The Peroni went down fast and cold, just the way I like them! The market is a short 5-6 minute drive from Lexington, and even closer to Buena Vista. First Catch recieves seafood in small quantities, 3x/week, so pre-ordering is definitely a good idea. That said, I walked in and had no problem getting 1lb of beautiful Texas pink shrimp. From market to grill, the time lapse was only 30 minutes- that's convenient! The shrimp had good texture and natural taste, and were no doubt as fresh as could be. I definitely reccomend First Catch Seafood Market to anybody who has a legitimate taste for fresh seafood. Having lived 3 months of every year for the past 5 years on the coast of North Carolina, I consider myself a well-versed seafoodie. You won't find any S.E. Asian farmed seafood here- and that's a good thing. Bypass Kroger, Food-Lion, or wherever you shop normally and definitely make the trek to First Catch for any seafood need- it won't let you down (just make sure to call ahead and verify if they have what you're looking for/pre-order if necessary)! First off, the clam chowder was great. It was one of their special items for the week, so it may not be available every visit. The crab bites were just okay in my opinion. The remoulade they were served with did have a good flavor though. I probably wouldn't order this appetizer again on a future visit. I've had a couple of people tell me to try the hushpuppy basket on my next visit. For the main course, I had jambalaya and would definitely have it again. The sausage, shrimp, and chicken were perfectly seasoned with all the Creole spices you want and expect with jambalaya. The people with me had fish and chips, crab cakes, and the Low Country boil with crab legs. Everyone was pleased with their main courses and agreed that they would come back to try more items.
