We were famished from a two day weekend bike-packing through the Shenandoah NF and looking for…read moresomething local on the way home. It was really a coin-toss between Bella and what appeared to only be one other non-chain restaurant in Bedford, so Bella got the nod this time. Walking in as a non-local is a little weird as we didn't see the front door and I guess walked in on a young lady folding pizza boxes that directed us to the left. We were trying to take in the space as it has some high walls and many, many hundreds of curios and wine bottles stacked atop all of the dividers... it really is kind of sight sensory overload. We finally found the front door, confirmed that it was just the two of us and were told it was "okay, you're here now" about walking in the side door. Seated quickly as it was mid-afternoon and very low traffic inside. Wait staff were quick, attentive, and happy to oblige two thirsty travelers guzzling waters. My buddy ordered the spaghetti and I ordered what I thought was a personal calzone with spinach, Mozz, sausage, and sauce... what I received was larger than my dinner plate and easily broken into two meals. Yay for hungry people! The garlic knots brought out before the food were a nice touch. I added a little crushed red pepper to them for a kick. Everything was hot, tasted fresh, and the dipping sauce was excellent. Absolutely no complaints on the food or service. The Peroni went down fast and cold, just the way I like them! I would probably give five stars if not for all the odds and ends stacked atop the dividers in the dining area. It really overwhelms the space and doesn't really provide a nice ambiance.

It was ok for dinner. Edible but nothing to write home…read moreabout. Soup was bland, tasted canned. No seasoning. Crab cakes fell apart. No taste or flavor. Sweet fries cold. The rest of my party was pleased with their food and drinks. The appetizers were great! Hot and tasty. Very expensive in my opinion. Staff was nice and friendly but slow service overall.

Was able to visit Driftwood Seafood Co. this week during one of their soft opening nights. Due to…read moreit being the soft opening, it wasn't very crowded, which meant the amount of service was phenomenal. Abby was very attentive and came to the table frequently to check in and do refills. To start off this dining experience, we ordered the crab bites and a couple of clam chowder. First off, the clam chowder was great. It was one of their special items for the week, so it may not be available every visit. The crab bites were just okay in my opinion. The remoulade they were served with did have a good flavor though. I probably wouldn't order this appetizer again on a future visit. I've had a couple of people tell me to try the hushpuppy basket on my next visit. For the main course, I had jambalaya and would definitely have it again. The sausage, shrimp, and chicken were perfectly seasoned with all the Creole spices you want and expect with jambalaya. The people with me had fish and chips, crab cakes, and the Low Country boil with crab legs. Everyone was pleased with their main courses and agreed that they would come back to try more items. Overall, I would say this was a good new option in Lynchburg that's definitely worth a try, especially if you're a seafood lover. Can't wait to see how this restaurant develops after this soft opening week.
