Clam Digger's is an unassuming and unexpected delight! It was quite late for lunch so most places were closed when we happened upon CD's open sign. My husband immediately had a hard time making a decision about what to get on the seafood-rich menu, but lucky for him and you, CD's has a la carte options for their more popular scallop servings. I was a bit more hesitant about the many choices until I asked where the clams and mussels came from and the waitress shared that they were regionally local! My husband and I shared a platter of each and he thoroughly enjoyed his bacon-wrapped scallop. We left full and happy.

Being from the coast originally I won't go so far as to say the seafood was awesome but for L'burg/Bedford is was pretty good. The service was awesome as the servers seem to work as a team. We were also pleasantly surprised to find out @ the end of our meal that dessert was included & one of the choices was Nanner Pudd'n (Banana Pudding for you non-southerners). This was an added bonus. The craft beer selection was not huge but pretty good with something for everyone. We will definitely be back.

I just realized I didn't get a dessert. I would be bitter but I don't typically eat sugar so...also I need to pay attention.

It was my birthday so I decided I had my own permission to order a number of things. I would like to mention right up front that a bar or restaurants decision to carry non-alcoholic beer is often a reason high up on the list that will decide if I return. When they confirmed they do, an extra star was earned. Also if country music annoys you tremendously, this is not your place. I don't care for it in general, but it was 90's and early 2000's country: all songs I know by heart and can sing kareoke to with marginal success. In fact, I heard Shania Twain for the first time in 10 years and experienced lots of flash backs, then looked for my leopard print cowboy hat when I got home. I ordered the crab-stuffed sweet peppers which you can order topped with cheese or cayenne pepper. I opted for cheese and now I realize I should have asked for half and half. They tasted and appeared as something your mom would make for company. My husband ordered the wings and said they were good. I'm not a wing person so I'll take his word for it. Sticking with the stuffed theme (figuratively and literally) I ordered the crab stuffed flounder which was also a winner. They make their tartar sauce in house and what I'd recommend is taking home a container and mixing it with tuna fish to make a sandwich. Waste not, want not. We also ordered a cluster of crab legs and a crab cake. My husband did not share the crab legs, but I was surprised at the quality of the crab cake, because I've had crab cakes elsewhere and I'm usually disappointed (this also happens often with macaroni and cheese). I will return when there is entertainment and report back.

Our first visit to try the seafood. This location is easy to access. I like that they do not fry anything. It is all baked/steamed/broiled. The special was a half pound of shrimp (huge shrimp but tender) with a side salad. It was delicious. Also got a basket of corn hush puppies. They have a full bar and the staff was attentive and informative. (The owner served our lunch). We will definitely be back.

We were in Bedford with our son who was in the hospital. We are from Texas and enjoy Sea Island a wonderful Texas seafood chain and we visit Galveston and South Padre quite often. Needless to say these are great seafood locations. When we first visited here three years ago we fell in love with the Sea Captain in Rocky Mount but he closed last year. We just found out new favorite seafood restaurant!!! This place is on a par with the Texas coast! Prices are a little bit high but that is commensurate with prices in today's post COVID economy. Hush puppies were excellent! Stuffed flounder and stuffed shrimp, yum!!! See attached pictures

After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to return to those special ones, that have made a difference in my life and highlight them, for the benefit of the public, so they too can have an opportunity to appreciate the qualities of a one-of-a-kind fine dining experience. And Bernard's Gastropub & Eatery in Downtown Roanoke, is a perfect example. Bernard's was born out of the love of two culinary aficionados turned professionals that in someway have managed to create a restaurant with an environment that transmits this intimate love to the hearts of their customers through the attention to detail in its extraordinary customer service and amazing culinary masterpieces. Today, I felt like dining at this restaurant, which I admire for its consistency in always far exceeding my high expectations of what a fine-dining restaurant should be all about. Not knowing if they would have a table for me at this late time on a Saturday early evening, I drove in my pearl white Lexus to the nearest private parking lot and gave them a call to inquire as if they could give me a reservation for the next ten minutes. A gentleman, who later I found out was named Matthew, and would be my server, answered the phone with a very polite and welcoming voice; answering my question of what was the special dish of the day and to come on down, that my reservation was assured. As soon as I arrived to the small, very elegant foyer in front of the Host's station, he came out to greet me and instantly recognized who I was. My only request was that he give me a low table because at my age seating at a high table was a bit uncomfortable. He went back to see what he could find and ended setting me up with what I consider one of the best tables of the house, and I was so appreciative of his last minute accommodation. The menu was already setup on my table. He poured water from a special bottle into my water glass and asked if I wanted something else to drink. I asked for a Mocktail and since he also was a bartender, he prepared me one of the best mocktails I've ever had. To dine, I started out with their Mussels Carbonara appetizer, which came in a bacon parmesan cream sauce that was simply amazing, and served with toast points. As my main entrée I had the Dinner Special of the Night, the Seafood Trio. It had a delicious, giant size crab cake in the middle, scallops, and shrimps, with parmesan risotto sautéed heirloom tomato, spinach, and nice size asparagus, with a burre blanc sauce. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the high-quality of their food and magnificent ambiance of the place. Everything was so delicious that only one word could ever describe them: priceless! For dessert I had their very famous Butterscotch Banana Pudding, which the chef makes at the moment ordered. It looked spectacular and tasted amazingly delicious: a culinary work of art. What a great way for the Gran Finale of an extraordinary dining experience!

They just do them all very slowly or at least they did when I was there. We came here on a Monday evening, and it was somewhat busy but there were visible empty tables and a couple spots at the bar. We went to the bar and waited awhile before the bartender asked what we wanted. I didn't ask for a flight because he seemed too busy. Whatever I wanted they were out of, but I ended up with an Imperial 16-point IPA which was quite tasty. I also got some chicken nachos, but I had to go stand in line to order them. They were adequate but not worth the wait. The place was very disorganized. They had workers always standing by the hostess desk, but the bartender was overwhelmed. Seemed like they should have had more than one, after all it is a brewery. Would have loved to try more beer but we just left and went back into Lexington for another round at another place. I don't know maybe it was just a bad night.

And that is precisely what I discovered when I visited Top Dawgs Pub & Deli for the very first time this late afternoon for a late lunch and early dinner. This casual family-owned and operated American restaurant for over 12 years is located in the Roanoke/Botetourt County area and is known for its pub fare like hot dogs, burgers, and wings, with a large selection of craft beers and Coke products. When I arrived, I immediately noticed this family-oriented restaurant's community-focus. There were signs up of Family Meal Box, Taco Tuesday Family Pack, Karaoke Every Other Saturday, and Sunday Funday. There were couples, young and older dining there, as well as families. It's dog-themed decor was very unique, with dogs pictures all around the walls. It had seating areas with high tables and chairs, low tables and chairs, and chairs at the bar counter. The large screen high definition TVs were set at an appropriate distance so one could conveniently watch a game while dining there and having some beers. As soon as I entered, a young lady in the back asked me to seat at the table of my choice, and then she came down to bring me a menu and take my drink order. Even though they had an extensive selection of beers, since I was driving, I opted for an iced-cold Coke. To dine I started out with a Bam Bam Shrimp appetizer. The shrimps weren't Jumbo as described in the menu, but tasted delicious with the bam bam sauce. And to dine I ordered a Cowboy Burger that came with in-house made potato chips that were out-of-this-world and a Cheezy Dawg. The burger came in a fresh, soft bun and the patty was juicy and cooked to perfection, although the bacon inside was not crispy and I couldn't see the onion ring inside, it tasted good with the cheddar cheese and BBQ sauce. The home-cut potato chips were just amazing. Best I've ever had. And the hot dog was an all beef quarter pound jumbo hot dog, split in the center and had chili, cheese, onions, and mustard, also in a fresh hot dog bun, and I added some ketchup as well. My server Tammie made sure to refill my drink without me having to mention it to her. For dessert I had their Fried Oreo Cookies and they tasted amazingly delicious. The best I've ever had. They were about 5 or 6 fresh Oreo cookies dipped in a light batter and fried mildly, then sprinkled with sweet powder sugar. They were so good and I was so full that I took 3 of them home with me to have as a snack later on. To pay, my server brought me a convenient little machine, where I paid with one of my credit cards, including my tip, Overall it was an extraordinary, relaxing dining experience and I highly recommend this restaurant when you want to have a truly enjoyable American meal.
