Long An is a family run traditional Vietnamese restaurant (with a few other dishes thrown in). It is a shoebox restaurant tucked in along the western edge of Montmarte just north of the bridge over the Cemetery of Montmarte. That might be a bit macabre, but it will help folks who navigate by landmark to find it... and you should make an effort to get to Long An. This is a great stop for lunch or dinner. All of the sandwiches (boeuf, porc, and 'Vietnamienne Speciale') are delicious and well priced. Though we didn't try it on this trip, the pho looked equally tempting.
In the shadows of Sacre Coeur, there are several lackluster asian restaurants catering to tourists. Long An is the delightful exception. It is mostly frequented by locals and takes pride in offering quality (not 'tourist safe') food. And even if your French skills aren't top-notch, you will find it easy to make yourself understood. read more
