For those who are wondering, this is not an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. It's more of a fusion of Southeast Asia flavors. Because of the name, we thought it was dishes from northern Vietnam. Upon viewing the menu, its clearly states otherwise. Seeing Pad Thai as one of their offerings was an indicator that it's not what it seems. We inquired a bit more from one of the servers and he cleared things up. Fusion. I ordered the Pad Thai while my wife ordered Beef Noodles. Her dish identifies as a stirred fried beef with noodles, mixed with the stir-fried sauce. My Pad Thai was different than the ones I had in the past. Flavors were different. Different as in a thicker coated sauce. While I, almost, was quick to judge, I realized that they are trying to achieve a more robust pallet of flavors. I enjoyed both of the dishes. Inside and outside had beautiful decorations. You know its Asian inspired when walking in. If you are looking for fusion, this is your go to spot. They also have happy hours. :) read more

I usually crave Asian or Mexican food while traveling most countries and it had been a while since I consume any delicious Vietnamese food, so it was time. A local recommended Hanoi Ca Phe, which was close enough to my hotel, so I was all in for it. It was not quite particularly busy when I visited, but it did not stop me. Wait staff was quite nice and not too pushy, so a plus there. Menu wise, your standard Vietnamese fare with a few additional nontraditional dishes, but most should not have an issue ordering here. I opted for Pho as it was a chilly night and it sounded great. It came out pretty quick and with most European Vietnamese restaurants they do not provide basil (Bummer). While portion wise it was quite adequate, the taste way quite off as it just lacked a punch of umami that I am accustomed to. This is not to say it was bad, just middle of the road to be honest. When it comes to price point, it was very reasonable, so no complaints on that front. I would definitely come back if in the area again to give it a second shot. read more

When you haven't had Asian food in over 2 weeks, (almost) anything tastes good. We found this cute little restaurant by our hotel with lots of decent reviews, however what should have given the quality of the food away is the aesthetic. I feel like the best Viet places are always divey, not a hang out place because you're there for the food and thats it. And honestly thats how I prefer my Vietnamese food. This place definitely caters to the hip, young Parisians who probably don't know much about authentic Vietnamese food. But let me just say it might have been one of the worst phở I ever had (besides Pho Train LOL). The broth was dark and filled with scum, meaning they either didn't par boil the bones and/or they just cooked it on high heat the entire time. There also wasn't much aroma or flavor to the broth. To put things in perspective, we found pho at the Marseille train station few days before this and it was much better. The bò bún was not amazing but better than the phở. Great vibes. A colleague recommended this place and we loved it. I was rather suspect when waiting in line and seeing a DJ play music. But this place kinda has it all - drinks, food, vibe. I got a Vietnamese chicken curry and my wife got pho. They were both great. The chicken curry was especially appreciated I thought given it was a bit more unique and there was a ton of chicken in it. Disappointing Vermicelli experience. While the food looks fantastic on pic it tasted the opposite.

Given the history of the French and Vietnamese, I thought it'd be interesting to give this place try! We came around 1PM and this place was super busy so I'm glad we were able to snag a table. The decor and ambience of this place is really hip and trendy, really great place to go with a group of friends. The waiters and waitresses were nice, but getting their attention was pretty difficult (understandably given how busy it was). The food was good, but a tad overpriced. The beef pho was interesting, definitely not the usual Vietnamese pho I'm used to having because the broth was very tame and the noodles they use are wider flat rice noodles. My friend got the beef Bo Bun and that was delicious! 100% recommend getting any of the Bo Buns here!! Overall, I could see myself coming back to this place with friends for drinks (they have a full service bar) because this is definitely a fun place to hang out! read more

Craving for Vietnamese food on our trip so we headed to Hanoi Ca Phe because of its reviews and ambiance. Nice looking place and looks authentic. We ordered the standard pho and vermicelli. Boy were they horrible. Not sure if it's made for locals with different taste but I never had pho with carrots etc in them. No pho flavor what so ever but they did use the soft pho noodle. In terms of wheelchair needs, this new restaurant/bar provides easy access inside and out in the covered area. Large accessible unisex bathroom shows how the 'new' French law re access is being embraced by Paris. I've enjoyed a couple of meals there and consistency is noticeable. The food is very tasty and the service is quick but you are not rushed. It has both a relaxing and sophisticated atmosphere and a very modern, trendy feel. You can watch the kitchen staff cook which is always fascinating. It's an easy choice for me to go there again. Servers speak English but are patient if it's important for you to use your French. I was dying for a bowl of pho today but since it was 4pm and all the viet joints around were closed until dinner time, we settled for this place. Under cooked noodles, lukewarm broth, only two pieces of meat, no basil. Spring rolls were not fresh or appetizing at all. If you want cocktails then fine just don't order any food here. I wish I could give this place a big fat zero rating. Just because you have trendy interior doesn't mean you can serve a shitty bowl of pho and charge 14 euro for it. Hot restaurant, especially for young people who don't mind louder background music. Menus available in English. Delicious, reasonable-sized portions. We had rice noodle dishes, and the meats were perfectly marinated and cooked. Each noodle dish comes with sauce, which there needs to be more of (or include limes, fish sauce, sriracha, or whatever on the table to allow for customization of your dish). This place is a joke. We walked in and there was no one inside to assist us with the table, so we have taken the seat at the available table. Nobody was coming to us but there was a server around so I asked her for the menu. She came to me and I asked again for menu- she didn't say anything but asked me if we seated ourselves. I said yes. He said you can take any of these, and we have chosen the middle one to avoid sitting on the sides. Finally we were able to take a look at the menu and the same server, who asked me if we seated ourselves came to us. The first line was- can you please change a sit and take the side table? I said- I'm sorry but your colleague has told us we can sit in the middle. Her next line was- don't yell at me, I said don't speak to me like that. I said- I'm not yelling but just telling you that we are sitting here for a reason. She started to argue with me again, and I was honestly shocked by her attitude and rudeness. Never ever have I experienced anything like that. This is not acceptable!I wish I had known her name, just know she has blonde hair. Extremely unpleasant person. Both the food and the cocktails are good - we had bo buns (lots of very good meat, delicious homemade eggrolls) and mango / kumquat mojitos (original, delicious and well-presented in a trendy mason jar). It's overpriced, but not too much (€6.50 for cocktails between 5pm and 9pm, €15.50 the bo-bun). Why only 3 stars then? Because this is the kind of factory-restaurant which is huge, with tables separated by 10 cm or less to pile even more people up, and where a smile from the waiter is charged extra. This was our favorite place we ate at in Paris. We stumbled upon it one night not too far from our hotel. After a long day of walking (in the cold) we enjoyed some great veggie egg rolls and beef pho (pho noodles are fat and wider than the usual style). The food tasted great, very fun modern (Asian fusion) atmosphere, and very friendly English speaking staff. The cocktails all looked amazing, I would definitely go back! Went with a Vietnamese foodie friend. One of the best places of its type. Trendy place with a DJ, pleasant and efficient service, great cocktails (we had a variety of mojitos, at a reasonable price during happy hours) and delicious, fresh Bo Buns. A good place for lunch too, am I told. On the minus side, the sauce is generic and my salmon bo bun was completely cold, which came as a surprise. I've been here for drinks twice: the first time was good, and the second time was mortifying. This place has got a cool vibe and atmosphere, pink lights, eclectic decorating, chic. The menu is unusual. The drinks are pretty good--more interesting than delicious, in my opinion, but refreshing and different. When I came just in a party of two there were no problems. There was lots of seating, so I recommended it to a networking group I'm in for one of their get-togethers. I came with this group last night. First, the hostess wouldn't seat us until all members of the party were there, which was impossible because people come and go and we never know how many we will be, so we had to go outside on the terrace. This is fine. We should have called ahead of time to make sure they could accommodate our group. Eventually, outside, we grew to six people, and our server moved us to a table inside. Another person showed, and our new waiter became clearly irritated. With no apologies or sensitivity, he said if an eighth person comes, we have to get up and wait for a table that seats eight. At that point, he began aggressively demanding that we order meals--pointing to each person and saying "Order, now!" (even though we'd clearly indicated before sitting we were there just for drinks and appetizers). He had absolutely no tact or ability to comprehend our situation, and he was angry and loud. It was the epitome of Parisian rudeness. I say that having spent nine months here, and actually never encountering it before. I understand if this restaurant has policies the servers have to enforce (as unreasonable as they may seem, especially when there were plenty of open tables)--but it should require its servers to be polite while doing it.
