    Pho dac biet
    Katherine G.

Great pho! We were a bit startled when walking in since we came right at opening and it was quite empty, and the workers were initially speaking Mandarin which felt odd to us. However, soon after this place got PACKED and plenty of customers came in and we were sitting elbow to elbow with people at the tables next to us. They have signs showing all their Michelin awards on the door, so I figured it must be legit. We got the pho dac biet and bun bo hue, both of which were delicious. The broth for the two soups was unique and flavorful, and the portions of meat and noodles were really generous. I'm not the best at distinguishing different types of pho since they tend to all taste similar to me, but this was definitely one of the better ones. I'd recommend this spot for a comforting bowl of noodle soup!

Beef pho and shrimp spring rolls

Came here on a Sunday evening around 7:30pm without calling ahead or anything. We were able to be seated outside right away. Inside was already packed as it is pretty small. We ordered shrimp spring rolls and the number 1 pho with meatballs, flank and brisket. The broth was SO GOOD. Not super hot, but hot enough to cook the rare meat. The staff was really efficient. Very sweet at first, but then at about 8pm a line started to form outside and things then seemed a little stressful and chaotic. Would absolutely come here again!

Michelin rated pho? In Paris? I arrived at 6 to a small empty restaurant. The menu is in Vietnamese and French and the workers don't speak English. They do however speak Chinese and Vietnamese. I had to put this place to the test and tried to order a bit of everything. I got the bo kho, egg rolls, banh cuon, and the obvious pho. My first sip of the bo kho was super rich and creamy. I've never had much bo kho to compare with it, but it was probably one of the best bowls I've had. The egg roll is just a good egg roll with a lot of crispy texture on the outside with a meaty interior. The banh cuon was presented nicely with 4 pieces of cha lua. The filling was good, but the skin was a little more stretchy that what I would like. The pho hits different. The broth is light, clear, and sweeter than what I'm used to. Is it the best pho I've had? Probably not, but it's still a good bowl. The only negative thing about it is the beef was sliced very thick and chewier than it should be. Pho Tai is good and all the dishes were above average, but I think certain places in SJ can give it a run for its money.

The pho is mediocre at best, on par with what we have in Miami, and that's not saying much. The other soups were equally disappointing, however there was a true star... the banh cuon, a thin, wide sheet of fermented rice batter filled with a mixture of cooked seasoned ground pork, minced wood ear mushroom, and minced shallots. Perfect even by Vietnamese standards. Highly acclaimed by Michelin, but we consider ourselves very experienced in Pho and were extremely disappointed considering we traveled so far during our Parisian vacation.

I am so impressed with pho in Paris. It was a WOW for us! The broth is flavorful, meat cuts are tender, the tendon beef balls are so flavorful. The rice noodle is thicker, so fresh which reminded me of fresh bánh phở in Vietnam. The broth could have been hotter though. I personally think pho here is a lot better than lots of places in Orange County, USA. We also ordered Bun bo Huế. It was a total failure!!! No flavor, it tasted like chili oil soup, no lemongrass, completely bland. You could skip it, we didn't even finish the bowl. And we also tried corn dessert (chè bắp) and tảo dessert (chè khoai môn). They are just ok, a little too sweet for me.

Gotta give Tai Pho their standing ovation. I'm from southern Vietnam where we pride ourselves on having the best pho... and yup...Tai Pho really nailed it on the head. One of the best southern phos I have ever had in my life. The GOOD: - If you don't try their michelin house pho when you go here, I don't know why you came to paris in the first place LMAO - Surprisingly good Vietnamese appetizers... We had very solid banh hoi and a type of stuffed translucent rice roll (can't think of the viet name atm) but it was also perfect. The MEH: The restaurant is small, and our party of 5 had to wait about 40 minutes for an awkard table in a tight corner - but this just UPs the magic for me... hehe felt like I was back in VN again.

Came to Paris just for this - The best Bon Bu Hue you can ever have. If you travel to Italy, you'll find the food is not the best for us Asian foodies so came to Paris after being in Amalfi Coast for a week and starved from the terrible Italian food.

    Fried spring rolls

Small restaurant space, friendly ladies in the front, DELICIOUS PHO, delicious bun chon, and delicious spring rolls! Located in a small Asian populated area of Paris, you see locals everywhere (which made us so happy!)

House Special Pho: meatballs, rare beef, brisket, and tripe

That spicy orange sauce. Journeyed to the 13th to try Pho Tai, with much excitement and apprehension based on the mixed reviews. But that spicy. Orange. Sauce. I need to find it. I ordered: -special pho: brisket, rare beef (would have liked more rare beef), meatballs, wider rice noodles, clean broth -pork egg rolls: perfectly fried imperial rolls They have this magical vinegar-y, spicy, thick orange sauce as a condiment and I could die happy putting that stuff on anything. Coming from the Bay Area, I'm used to solid Vietnamese food. Pho Tai would fit right in. Their portions, the fast service, and prices made for a pleasant casual dinner. Michelin-guide worthy? I'm not so sure. But certainly a welcome break from French food (sorry steak tartare and frites).

    Many Michelin stickers.

Michelin restaurant for multiple years, this place was recommended to us by a friend of a friend. The place is small, but can accommodate around 20 or more guests (?). While we were waiting in line outside, the owner came out to serve everyone ice tea. We ordered egg rolls, pho, rice with grilled pork and tomato based prawn. The food were delicious and inexpensive! My favorite is the black-eye pea and sweet rice with coconut cream dessert. It a treat I have longed for since moving to London a few months ago. There aren't many Viet food choices in London so we are going all out with Viet food while on this holiday visit to Paris. Love Vietnamese food in Paris and this place was a treat!

Pho tai (rare steak) and cha gio (egg rolls)

Great authentic pho in Paris! My husband and I dined at L'Arpege and Alain Ducasse during our trip and I can say there's just nothing like the comfort of a bowl of pho, especially during the winter season. We always eat pho with rare steak (called pho tai, not to be confused with the name of the restaurant) everywhere we go and here they give you very generous portions of meat, served in a huge bowl. Two could easily share. The pho noodles are also thicker than standard, which I actually loved! Broth was tasty too. We had cha gio (egg rolls) as well and they were perfectly fried and crispy! Service was friendly and the food arrived quickly. There's an English menu if you can't read French or Viet. Only downside is the restaurant (a hole-in-the-wall type) is small and cramped, and there's a bit of a wait, but the queue moves pretty quickly. I definitely recommend this place when in Pah-ree!

An escape from the richness of food in Paris…read more FOOD RATING : The Shrimp Paste Rice ( 9/10 ) was the winner here, with the various flavors and mix and matching the assorted vegetables and meats. The dried shrimp was a little bit hard, but everything else was great. The Thai Sausages ( 8/10 ) were salty with a little bit of tang, and when eaten with a nibble of ginger and Thai chili, the grease blended so well. The Steamed Fish ( 2.5/10 ) was quite disappointing as there was barely any flavor to the sauce. It was also really pricey (over 20 Euros) for the small amount of fish - which is understandable because it's seafood - but the quality of the dish did not makeup for the high price whatsoever. The Rice Porridge ( 8/10 ) was really comforting and very tasty, and had ginger, fried onions, pork, and green onions in it. Nothing too special, but a tasty broth and great combination of good ingredients. SERVICE : The two servers working were nice and made sure I always had water, and would check up on how the meal was. Nothing too special, but it was pleasant to eat there. DETAILS : This place was a total random hole in the wall I found, but the food absolutely blew my mind. It tasted exactly like food from Thailand, from the sauces down to the exact ingredients they used. If you ever start getting tired from the rich, creamy, buttery food of Paris and crave rice and tang this is a great place to eat at. It's located in a corner of a mall in 13th Arrondissement, the mall being a little difficult to navigate with all it's twists and turns, but definitely worth the effort to find.
