If you're a new patient your insurance will probably require a referral. I was able to get one in a couple of weeks and the doctor explained the entire process and got my laxatives ordered for the colonoscopy the following month. Post COVId I think this is great. The was anxious about the prep but it went smoothly. I got the earliest appointment possible so I wouldn't have to fast too long. They checked me in and I put in my gown. The nurses and anesthesiologist were excellent. The doctor was great no side effects so far. I was in and out within an hour. Definitely love the central location too. As for parking, yeah they do about 100 colonoscopies a day and you need someone to drive you home afterwards so the parking lot will be busy but that's everywhere in central Austin.

To be blunt, I do not like the parking here, the check-in process, or the actual rooms for the…read moredoctor visit. My last appointment left me waiting in the doctor's office for 32 minutes while I heard a bunch of laughter from patients nearby. I worry that the nurses might be talking about the patients too loudly, violating HIPAA laws. All of that being said, I really love my providers and the scheduling staff. Dr. Diddempudi is wonderful and so is her Nurse Practitioner. I have had several procedures with Diddempudi and I trust her with my life. Now...can y'all please remove the tower iPad advertisements in the doctor's offices? They give me so much anxiety and seem like a money grab.

The lobby is on the second floor and there were two windows for check in. When you were up, they used the loud speaker (too much for 6am and only 2 people in the lobby) to call out your name. Sheesh. Fill out of the forms and tagged for the procedure had to wait to be called back. All the staff were professional and polite with no issue throughout the process. Afterwards, recovery was simple and they walked you out of the building to confirm you were safely in your transportation home.

A lot of these reviews sound very familiar…read more I was an Austin Gastro patient for over 20 years. And then my insurance changed to an HMO. Because AG didn't "accept" my insurance, they wanted $150 up front before they would even make a follow-up appointment. I ended up changing providers- something that is not easy in Austin where AG has a near monopoly. Fast forward 4 years. My 10 year colonoscopy screening is due. AG is calling my home phone and cell phone because they want me to make an appointment. A colonoscopy makes AG about $3,000 or more because not only does an AG doctor do the procedure, AG also owns the surgery centers where the procedures are done. They make a lot of money off colonscopies. I haven't heard from AG in 4 years since they refused to make an appointment unless I paid them $150. They still don't accept my insurance, so it's clear they think they are going to make money off a colonscopy and that's why they are calling weekly to try to get me to make an appointment with them. I can't complain about the nurse practitioners that I saw at AG. The surgery center was okay. But there's something ethically wrong with their business office.

Let me start by saying that I've known some excellent doctors, and have had a couple of…read moreearth-shatteringly bad experiences as well. Dr. Julie Reardon has surpassed my wildest expectations of what a family physician CAN--and is willing--to do. I think that's in part because she is a phenomenal physician and person, and I suppose the Harvard education and work with Dr. Andrew Weil doesn't hurt. I'll add that all of the folks in her office are equally as competent and caring. If you are contemplating a visit to Dr. Reardon, it's because you haven't been feeling as well as you should--probably for quite some time. Your insurance-covered doctor has run some general tests that haven't shown anything all that extraordinary; and while you may greatly respect your PCP as I do, you realize that time and budget constraints limit the ability to which they can explore your issues. You may have been told that it's your impending menopause, or your weight, or that you perhaps should consider antidepressants. This is the state of medicine in our current era of managed care, and it's nobody's fault. Sometimes it just IS. Know that, if you can afford her services, "Dr. Julie" will leave no stone unturned in helping you find that road to recovery. She's not one of those "vanity doctors" who will hand you creams, diets, and vitamins to make you ageless and extra hot...although feeling better usually makes you look better! She's a serious, science-based physician with an uncanny ability to relate the typically unrelated, and see the "big picture" of your health situation. In our initial visit, she caught on to trending issues I'd never thought of before, including a potential genetic makeup that leaves me prone to certain problems with mood and energy level that are exacerbated by stress...and I've had a year of that! She ran a gamut of tests after explaining the purpose of each one, and uncovered a problem so critical it was a wonder I even had the energy to get out of bed in the morning. I am no less impressed with our follow-up discussions. She has referred to another provider for an area outside of her realm, and also recommended simple vitamin and supplement changes that will do me a world of good. At the same time, she's not that earth-crunchy guru that's going to mandate that that you live on purified air and chants...hers are moderate lifestyle changes for real people living in our everyday world. Dr. Julie doesn't take insurance, but that allows her to spend true quality time with the patients who sign on with her. I will say that, for the fees involved, I feel like it's been a very good choice for my healthcare dollars. I am finally getting some solid answers as to why I've felt HORRIBLE over just this last year, and I finally feel confident knowing someone's got my back while I take steps to get better. I think there are a lot of docs out there who dream of having a practice like Dr. Julie's--and she has made that dream a reality. When I think about how quickly Dr. Julie started "cracking the case", and all the co-pays and labs past that never quite addressed my issue, I realize that I have now SAVED time and money in the long run. What's more...I could have gotten REALLY sick were it not for Dr. Julie and her findings. She very well might have saved my future from being...well, not so bright. Thinking about calling for an appointment with Dr. Julie Reardon? I say go for it...you will NOT regret it, and you have everything to gain.

It may be…read moretrue this doctor is one great practitioner, but there is no reason why she should nor be able to bill insurance. Read the oath again and think long and hard who you really help. I never had to wait longer than a few minutes for anything. Dr Thomas and his staff were great, at ease, friendly, and total professionals. When I woke up in recovery the nurse/PA was pleasant but clearly needed the room for the next patient and ushered me right out in the most polite way possible, lol. I totally understand and have no problem with this...they are running a business. Gotta keep things moving! I also look at it like this: I'm ready to put the entire colonoscopy experience behind me (pun intended) and the faster I'm out of there the better. I also feel for the next person who's waiting for my bed....I don't want them to be there any longer than necessary haha. All in all a great visit. Thanks to all the staff!

My hunch is too few expert staff are encouraged to rely on too much electronic communication to keep the bottles--um, patients--moving along. Right now I have no answer to a basic question asked hours ago about what precise time I need to not eat before my colonoscopy. Telling me "after you get up" doesn't help in that these days I get up at 4 am. Now the reply in the difficult to enter patient portal is that I'll perhaps get my answer after 8:30 am tomorrow--a bit late to be useful, methinks. Update: A representative phoned me directly at 7:35 am of my fast day to reaffirm you can't eat at any time after you rise on the day before the procedure. I replied that doesn't make sense if you rise, as I did, at 4 am. I won't be eating for a total of 36 hours. Makes no sense... (I am adding a star because the rep called.) If you need service, my recommendation: Look for a more old-fashioned customer service experience. I hope there is one.
