Be careful. Take someone with you who can stay with you and advocate on your behalf. I was a patient and had my lung severely damaged and ended up in the ER and hospitalized for days. It turns out upon receiving and reviewing the paperwork that I was rushed out the door in a manner contrary to their established procedures to get another patient in. I was sent home with paperwork saying everything had gone well, however the nurse was admonishing me before wheeling me out because, according to the story they were trying to sell me, I had a blockage that negatively affected the procedure. The truth, revealed at the ER about 30 minutes later, and in the paperwork I obtained from the center after submitting an information request, is that they had aspirated my lung and rushed me out the door and there are even documents from the RN and the CRNA that contradict each other regarding my vitals at the exact same time, suggesting an attempt to falsify records. Before I was discharged, they did not properly check my vitals, which the last time they had been checked were still well below my baseline. My wheezing was audible from across the room to others, but the medical professionals I entrusted with my care were too busy rushing to the next patient to hear and react. Their focus was not on my well-being but rather on their case load. They have admitted these failures since but failed to follow through on promises to ensure this can't happen to others and to communicate to me a proposed resolution. I was told it would take four weeks. Now I'm being told to be patient and wait another 5 weeks (or more) I have lung damage, and I'm weakened after my hospital stay. My family was traumatized by the ordeal. They assured me that they were conducting an investigation and taking action to ensure this doesn't happen to others in the future, but five weeks later, my bills are piling up and the only person involved who seemed to care has been forbidden to speak to me moving forward. My biggest regret in this is that I did not take action to warn others sooner. You might not have a lot of options for where you get your procedure done, but I would strongly caution you to watch these folks like a hawk. Ask them how long you will be monitored after the procedure, and ensure you have returned to your baseline before you let them send you home! read more

Had my colonoscopy today and all went fine. Doctor Long gave me a clean bill of health. I do appreciate the thoughts and prayers some of you sent after reading a previous review about my brother passing from rectal cancer which I of course was concerned about since it had been ten years since my last one. Because of that history with my brother, Dr. Long said I should have one every five years. As for COVID, you are required to wear a mask and sanitize your hands upon entry. They have lessened the CV-19 protocols on having a family member or friend with you so Mrs. Texas was able to come into the waiting room as well as go back into the holding room with me. She was there when I woke up, which was nice. The staff ensured she was comfortable and offered her something to drink as well as a warm blanket. The staff here was totally awesome and wonderful. They treat the patients with the utmost professionalism and respect, and they took great care of me. read more

This place is all business and that's exactly how it should be. The reception/check-in staff were friendly and super efficient. Not a moment wasted. I never had to wait longer than a few minutes for anything. Dr Thomas and his staff were great, at ease, friendly, and total professionals. When I woke up in recovery the nurse/PA was pleasant but clearly needed the room for the next patient and ushered me right out in the most polite way possible, lol. I totally understand and have no problem with this...they are running a business. Gotta keep things moving! I also look at it like this: I'm ready to put the entire colonoscopy experience behind me (pun intended) and the faster I'm out of there the better. I also feel for the next person who's waiting for my bed....I don't want them to be there any longer than necessary haha. All in all a great visit. Thanks to all the staff! read more

If I could give 10 stars I would. Dr. Sperling and his team from check-in to check-out were stellar. I had a little detour in my colonoscopy plan, and the staff were excellent! Definitely not the friendliest staff. In addition, their accounts receivable process is over zealous and . After paying up front when I checked in, I received another bill a few weeks later for 2x what I had already paid. I tried to call them multiple times, but no one answers. I left multiple messages for them to call me back, to no avail. Then, I get a letter from their "collection agency". This was within 60 days of the procedure, and definitely within the normal window to still be waiting for payment from the insurance company. I find the policies and care at Austin Endoscopy on Shoal Creek to be highly questionable and I will look for alternatives for my next procedure. Even if I have to switch doctors. read more

All the folks working here were very nice. The small lobby contained 24 people crowded in waiting for their appointment. Once the nurse came to get me it was like a race. She rushed like she only had 2 minutes to get me ready and assured me that she would have me seen by the Dr. very quickly. When they wheeled me into the surgical room, it was like a large closet and not a medical facility. Of course, Dr. Frank was also racing the clock and had no time to talk. This place is flat out a place to process patients at a very fast pace. I will not return to this facility. read more

I had my annual endoscopy and colonoscopy in August 23,23 and I was so amazed as to how absolutely, organized and professional all the staff are. They are so punctual and had me so well prepared by the nurses and anesthesiologist. I got to talk to my dr. which is so patient, nice, and compassionate- Dr. William Stassen which I hv seen for years at the Round Rock location along with Jessica Langston, Dr. Poreddy, and Katheryn his nurse practitioner. Barium, Revisited (The Day after my visit to AEC) If you DO decide to visit this wonderful establishment, it would be best to clear your calendar for the FOLLOWING day as well. This fact is left out of the glossy patient prep materials they so thoughtfully provide. [Thoroughly gross scatological humor warning] Here's the deal: Left undiluted, Barium has a tendency to solidify in the digestive system, useful if you'd like a post-mortem plaster cast of your colon, but not a good idea if you ever want to eat (or shit) again. So, strangely unhungry after the tests, I began drinking lots of water, & eating Ry-Krisp for a little solid food. About two hours after I got home, I discovered that in addition to being "radio-opaque" barium is also a damn good laxative. The rest of the following day was spent alternating between ingesting water & shitting glow-in-the-dark uranium-enriched poo. Unmolested by the best efforts of my digestive system, the leaden institutional green slurry had become heavyweight identically shaded green turds, though roughly doubled in quantity. I swear I must have shat a gallon of that stuff, despite only drinking a quart or so. I discovered that barium also befuddles the flushing mechanism of my "low-flow" toilet. Ten times heavier than ordinary shit, "ghost poo" appeared again & again after flushing, nuclear turds returning unscathed from an unsuccessful trip out of the bowl. I am far more familiar with my digestive output than I ever hoped to be. Eight to ten hours later I was still producing barium, wondering if I am subject to a nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Cottonelle moist wipes--take me away! read more

Overall I had a good experience. Most of the care team is amazing. This would have been a 5 star review. I had just awoken from my procedure to have a nurse shout at me to take a drink and get dress. I barely knew where I was at. I sat up only to fall back down. I eventually fumbled to get dressed. As I was leaving I said to the nurse, I feel like you are rushing me out of here. She then said, "yah, I have been here since 5am." This shocked both me and my husband. Safety and patient care should be first. It's not my fault if you are beyond your working limit. Later my husband told me he over heard some of the staff complaining that a doctor was running late and they would have to stay past 5pm. Sounds like one of two things needs to happen here, an attitude adjustment or you need to find a new job. read more

This was my third endoscopy at this center over 15 years. I was so impressed by the efficiency and care I was given. I loved the warm blanket they gave me to stay comfortable and relaxed. They did the procedure quickly and I found out the results immediately. I recommend this center to anyone who makes the intelligent choice in preventative medicine to have a colonoscopy or an upper endoscopy. Provided me with a referral to a Colorectal Surgent and, sent an Rx Into HEB twice as the first RX was not received. My primary care physician has encouraged me to have a colonoscopy done for the last few years. I put it off with one excuse after another but after experiencing spasms in my abdomen my doctor strongly recommended I get my whole GI system checked out. He recommended I see Dr. Binh Pham with Austin Gastroenterology. Dr. Pham met with me and listened to my symptom history then scheduled an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy at Austin Endoscopy Center. My appointment was scheduled quickly, about two weeks after my consultation. I had a 6:30 am appointment and arrived early as instructed. Once I checked in and changed into my gown Dr. Dry, my anesthesiologist, talked to me about the sedation he would use and how he would monitor me during the procedure. Candy, my pre-procedure RN took my vitals, reviewed my medical history and applied an IV line where the sedation would be administered. Once I was wheeled into the procedure room, Dr. Pham and his team greeted me and went through a final checklist to confirm the procedures I was having. About 35 or 40 minutes later I woke up and felt like I had just had a great nap. I met with Madison, my post-procedure RN, who gave me a few minutes to get settled then started to review some of the results with me. It turns out I had silent acid reflux causing my abdominal spasms and Dr. Pham found two polyps in my colon that he removed, but needed to have biopsied for cancer. The biopsy results came back in a few days and fortunately were non-cancerous. I am extremely happy with my decision to see Dr. Pham and to have my procedures done at Austin Endoscopy Center. All of the staff were top-notch professionals and I feel so much better knowing what is going on inside my body. read more

I had a very positive experience here. I was checked in promptly. Taken back for my pre-procedure steps quickly. The staff was kind and professional. I warned them I sometimes wake up cranky from sedation and would want cafiene because I could not have my morning coffee so they even brought me an ice cold soda when I was in recovery. I had my esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) here today with Dr. Chad Long from Austin Gastroenterology. The staff is extremely professional and pleasant, explaining each step of the way. I am a physician myself, and I was very impressed that the whole visit is very smooth, from the check-in, through the procedure, and the discharge to go home with my responsible driver. Everything went as described and I felt fine afterwards. Having personable staff who are great at making people feel comfortable in a situation that may be anxiety producing for many is a real benefit. Dr. Long is very easy-going and helpful. First, the scheduling was done quickly. Checking in was a snap as they had all my information already. Only two or three forms to sign, all routine. Only waited about 10 minutes before a nurse came for me and got me prepped quickly. Very soon afterward, was taken in for the procedure and woke up feeling rested. They were professional, which is mighty important when you are doing something no one wants to do. They were on-time (I signed in and was in my seat about 2 minutes before they ushered me back.) Everyone told me their names, let me ask questions, and told me exactly what they'd do. When I awoke from a blissful slumber, my husband had all the information and they were quick with the juice. I had a great experience with Dr. Thomas and the crew. All the nurses were pleasant and professional. They explained every thing that they were about to do to me before they did it, which I really appreciated. They must have changed the colonoscope equipment since my last colonoscopy because there was no residual gas causing discomfort after the procedure, which I remember from after my last procedure. Dr. Thomas was pleasant, professional, and explained what was going on. It's hard for a lay person to determine medical competence, but the professional, friendly attitude instills confidence. The low complication rate and high detection rate from the web site seems to justify the conclusion that they know what they are doing. read more

I would switch doctors to never have to go back here. When you first walk in, it's like the county clerk's office. Completely *packed* and impersonal. You sign into a tablet and sit down and wait for "15 minutes" we were there for 30 minutes before we even got to speak to anyone who worked there. There was no one to ask questions or speak to until they called your name in whatever order they see fit. They have large glass doors for "privacy" but no music or tv noise in the waiting room so you can hear everything going on in the toilet and can hear everyone's conversations. So zero privacy and the room was PACKED. It was like they were trying to get through as many patients as possible. So we waited to get called, finally talked to someone who worked there and then got to pay $1400 for the privilege of getting a procedure at this office. Then we wait some more, then go back to the room, which is the SMALLEST surgical prep area I have ever seen. There was maybe an inch of space between the end of the bed and the zero-privacy curtain. You can hear EVERYTHING being discussed with other patients and everyone's body noises. Some of the staff tries to be personable but the anesthesiologist was just rude. He kept making "joking" with us when I was concerned my husband would bite his tongue after surgery (since it was hanging out) he was like "Does he bite his tongue in his sleep?!?!" Um no, but usually he doesn't have his tongue sticking out "How would you know, aren't you also sleeping?" Okay jerk just tell me it's not a concern, you don't have to try to make me feel stupid. Then the worst part. My husband was slowly waking up from anesthesia and the staff could not WAIT to get him out of there. He couldn't even dress himself yet but the staff literally said "Ok you're leaving! We have over 100 procedures today." Sorry sweetheart that's not OUR problem if you guys are overbooking patients. I would NEVER go here again and wish I could find an office manager to speak to because there certainly wasn't anyone asking us how our experience was, cause I'm sure they know the answer! read more

i went today to pick up a friend that had a colonoscopy. I sat in the(not very nice) and totally packed waiting area until i received an emergency call from my wife . I Went outside to talk to her for about 10 min and then returned to the waiting room. After 5 min. a woman came in to the waiting area and started yelling my name and then screamed that she had been looking everywhere for me. She continued to fuss at me in front of about 20 people then took me back to the area( where my friend would be coming for recovery) and ordered me to sit down. She came back twice and again ordered me to stay in the chair. At that time the post-op nurse named Joan enters the room and continues the abuse scolding me for not being in the waiting room. She said she looked for me in the parking lot. This was a lie because i was outside the front door on the phone. I am 66 yrs old and suffer from severe hypertension. She got me so upset i thought i might be having a stroke. I am shocked that Dr DABAGHI would allow his nurses to treat people so poorly at his facility especially someone who is picking up one of his patients. Please beware if you are picking up a loved one from this facility. The two nurses actions are unacceptable under any circumstance! read more

Instead, the nurse decided to complain about my pre-operation apprehensions to my designated ride illegally and without my consent. The nurse had her feelings hurt that I was upset for waiting over an hour past my designated operation time and she decided to complain about me to my designated ride. Unprofessional. Unethical. HIPPA violations. Inadequate. read more

The day of my colonoscopy the Center was very busy. My procedure was an hour late. I had not met Dr. Chad Long and thought he would come in to talk before the procedure but only met him while on the table. The worst thing about this procedure is that I developed an infection afterwards. I am on two weeks of antibiotics designed to treat a bacterial overlay in the colon. This condition is often called Traveler's Disease. The medicine is very expensive, mine had a $550 copay. I learned the doctors office has a waiting list of patients waiting to get samples. I will never go back to this group for a colonoscopy. I have been home bound with this condition for a month! read more
