To be blunt, I do not like the parking here, the check-in process, or the actual rooms for the doctor visit. My last appointment left me waiting in the doctor's office for 32 minutes while I heard a bunch of laughter from patients nearby. I worry that the nurses might be talking about the patients too loudly, violating HIPAA laws. All of that being said, I really love my providers and the scheduling staff. Dr. Diddempudi is wonderful and so is her Nurse Practitioner. I have had several procedures with Diddempudi and I trust her with my life. Now...can y'all please remove the tower iPad advertisements in the doctor's offices? They give me so much anxiety and seem like a money grab. read more

Good luck seeing a doctor here. You will have to wait 4 or 5 months before one is available. You will have to see one of their incompetent PAs who are not qualified to diagnose gastro issues. Was with Dr. Robinson for many years and only saw him when he did my colonoscopy. His PA Sheila was not able to diagnose why I was having severe stomach pains after 3 visits. She never ordered any tests to see what might be causing the pain. She kept telling me it was something I was eating. I ended up in the ER where they did an ultrasound and I had gallstones and had to have emergency surgery. Now I am with Dr. Ellis, whom I never have seen because he is never available. Had to see his PA Kara who was totally incompetent. Made an appointment with her because I was having some stomach pains. She walks in and sits down (no hi or anything) and says "what's the problem". I tell her what's going on and then she says she will order a CT scan without asking any questions. I did not feel comfortable with her at all and I felt like she really didn't know what she was doing . She really had an attitude. My appointment with her lasted about 3 minutes. After the appointment, I called her numerous times and left messages and she never called me back. I went to see another doctor and found out the reason for the stomach pain was because of some medication I was taken. So Kara just wasted my time and money. When I go to the doctors, I want to see a real doctor. I don't want to spend my hard earned money to see a PA who doesn't know what they are doing. read more

My husband went for 6 months of pain, testing and er visit. Outcome- he only needed an antibiotic for stomach ulcers, the last thing Dr Lubin tried. Call backs from nurses were slow and for results sometimes never. read more

I'm sad, mad, and disappointed. Of course I should've trusted all the other reviews about their billing department. Came in for a consultation and had my records transferred from my previous provider (within that same month), but Doctor just wanted to do their "own tests" for their own records - which turned out to be the same exact tests with the exact same results, and of course all of the tests they ordered wasn't covered by insurance. Stay away!!! There are many other better places that you can trust and actually get cared for your health and not putting your hard earned money in this some bogus god forbidden cooperation. I have been trying to get my medical records transferred to my new doctor (another city) for about three months. After multiple calls and promises to transfer the records, it still has not happened. This office shows total incompetence. I'm so glad to not ever have to deal with this office again. It's a shame, because I really like Dr. Lubin a lot. I actually hate seeing doctors. I don't typically leave five star reviews because frankly I hate everyone and everything, but I logged into yelp today specifically because Dr. Stassen deserved a fist bump. When my medical tests showed that I had a fatty liver, I was totally prepared to have to defend the shape of my body lest I be fat shamed or dismissed again. I came to my follow up appointment armed to the teeth with Fitbit information on my eating and exercise habits, but Dt. Stassen looked over all my results and then said, " Society likes to tell us that our weight is solely determined by what we eat and our activity level, but those of us in healthcare know that just isn't true." It was so shockingly validating i was pretty much speechless, and for an over educated Jewish grandmother, that's really saying something. Additionally, Dr. Stassen was thorough and knowledgeable about my conditions. He was also hesitant to recommend uncomfortable procedures unless they were necessary. Suffice to say, I'm impressed and I'm not easily impressed. I'll be back... of course I will, the dr says I need a follow up in a year and he knows what he's talking about. read more

Y'all need to either fire and re-hire your front desk/admin staff or give the training a SERIOUS overhaul. (Upon reading other reviews, THIS IS APPARENTLY NOT NEW INFORMATION SO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.) My partner is a patient here, and upon trying to get the lab request sent to the lab again was met with coldness, insensitivity and unprofessionalism over the phone. Front desk person was short in their responses, used a rude and condescending tone, and then said they'd "fax the order over" on the day my partner set the appointment with the lab. When my partner arrived, guess what? The order was never sent. Not only did he have to take extra time out of his day (and away from work), but there's no reason the order couldn't have been sent on the day he called. I work in a medical setting myself and this kind of disorganization is completely uncalled-for and is giving my partner plenty of reason to seek care elsewhere. TLDR: Bad/rude patient-facing service, do not send lab orders on time, 0/10, do not recommend. read more

After awakening from your procedure you will be told that your lab results should be ready in about a week. DO NOT believe them. You will be lucky to hear in two weeks. Giving that the purpose of many of these tests is to determine if you have a highly virulent form of cancer such a delay is not just unprofessional, but cruel. I've been here before. Medically, it's fine. THEY DON'T HAVE ANYONE ANSWERING THE PHONE FOR SCHEDULING!!!! I know this because I've been calling daily for weeks. You can hold forever and listen to the message, "Press 1 to leave a message or stay or on the line." I've held for over 30 minutes twice. Don't do it. Leave a message. You *may* get a call-back for scheduling. Seriously! Unfortunately, the few times they have called me back I've been in meetings. When I have talked to someone there to say that no one picks up the phone I am told, "This is a busy time of year." I've called morning, noon, and night. No one picks up. I liked my dr at Austin Gastro, Dr Anupama Duddempudi. However, their office staff is awful. My recent issue was with a Telehealth appt. The appt scheduler called 20 mins before to confirm my availability and then the Dr didn't show up due to power outage. I understand that, but the appt scheduler could have called me at some point to help get me rebooked. I waited 1.5 months for the appt to get a Rx refill. When I called the next day, the staff member I spoke to claimed I was yelling at her when I was speaking normally. I guess my voice comes across as too loud. My husband said I sounded normal when speaking with her. Last year, I had issues with the prep Rx for a procedure. They filed with the wrong code. Insurance company asked them to change the code so it would be part of the procedure and at no cost. They refused. They also require you to use their pharmacy, Integrated Rx Associates. I had their staff berate me that I was wrong and my insurance company was wrong. On the day of the procedure, I was told that I would be billed for the anesthesia AFTER finishing the prep prior to procedure. I called my insurance, and they spoke with the office manager to inform him YES anesthesia is covered and this is how to bill it. This practice has serious issue with office management. It seems to be common knowledge to not go there. Hopefully their drs and owners will actually fix the office. Looking at reviews, it's been this way for years. read more

Two years ago I went in to the south office of AG for a separate issue. So when I started having speciality related issue, decided to try AG again and opted for the closer office. Downside as others have said is I had to wait two weeks for the soonest appointment when I was in a pretty good deal of pain. I talked myself out of going to urgent care and of course by the time I get in for my appointment two weeks late things are mostly on the mend. I had the first appointment of the day and was seen promptly at my appointment time (a first?!??). Dr. Singh was kind and professional. He asked several questions and actually listened to my responses. When it came time for an awkward exam (gastroenterology people!!!) he had an exceptional bedside manner and put me at ease. He reassured me about my issues and prescribed what he hoped would help. He even asked my about my previous diagnosis and how I was feeling - again a completely separate issue. When I voiced that I didn't think it was an accurate diagnosis he took a few minutes to discuss and provided some guidance for an alternate explanation which I really appreciated. Overall I would definitely recommend AG and Dr. Singh specifically - but the entire staff there was great. read more

My experience with Austin Gastroenterology was one of the worst experiences in my life. As a nurse case manager, it reminded me of the "pill mills" that I see with my pain management patients. That being, see as many patients as possible in the endoscopy center and perform as many procedures as possible with as little patient contact as possible. DR. Robinson's PA, Sheila, was great and these comments do not concern her interactions with me. Dr. Robinson did not meet with me until minutes prior to procedure and only minutes after procedure on 11/26/2019. If Dr. Robinson had gotten to know me first, he would have known that I was being treated for iron deficiency anemia since May 2019 and I was responding to treatment. After being off my iron supplementation for 5 days prior to the colonoscopy on 11/26/19, Dr. Robinson indicated that I needed to continue my iron supplementation and recommended that I decrease my iron to every other day and see him in 6-8 weeks. I followed Dr. Robinson's recommendation and by 12/9/19, I was experiencing severe weakness, postural hypotension with a 20-30 point drop in my B/P from sit to stand and shortness of breath. I saw my PCP, who recommended that I return to my daily dose of iron supplementation, which I did. On 12/18/19, my postural hypotension continued with increased weakness and shortness of breath. Another PCP saw me and recommended that I take 2 iron supplements daily and ordered CBC, which was drawn but not done for some reason by CPL. By the time that I found out that the CBC had not been done, it was 12/26/19 and I repeated the CBC. My PCP called several hours later to report that my hemoglobin was at a critical level of 5.5 and I must report to nearest ER for blood transfusion. I was treated at Cedar Park Regional Hospital, received blood transfusions (2) and was seen by Syed Rizvi, M.D. with Texas Digestive Disease Consultants. Dr. Rizvi repeated the EGD and took the time to explain atrophic gastritis, treatments and outcomes as well as iron supplementation. I will also be seeing hematologist. I will not be returning to Dr. Robinson. I prefer to treat with a physician that has a bedside manner, not just for procedures, but for getting to know the patient. read more

I had an upper endoscopy with dilation today that was done by Dr. Glenn Robinson at the Shoal Creek location. I just want to say I have over the top anxiety with any medical related procedures but the staff at this office along with Dr. Robinson were truly a God send. They were so patient, understanding, took time to answer my many questions. I know I was probably a lot to handle but this group of people made it such a pleasant experience and went above and beyond. I could not say enough good or thank them enough for not just doing their job but going out of their way to truly help and think about others feelings. I knew exactly what to expect, what was expected of me, was called to remind, was called after to check on me. Dr. Gagneja- super professional- was able to cut right through a bit of a past misdiagnosis that had caused me a lot of stress. Great communicator who takes the TIME to explain. I cannot speak for their services, because they clearly did not want me as a patient. What a horrible experience! I called AG this morning because my OBGYN told me I needed to see a GI doctor. After giving them my information and letting them know I was self pay, as I was put on medicaid earlier last year, they assumed I couldnt afford an appointment. They said they typically dont see medicaid clients because you have to qualify. I was put on medicaid because I was pregnant last year, and in the state of texas, if you are uninsured, youre put on medicad. News Flash! I am an insurance broker and make more than enough money to see a specialists. When I asked the woman, or girl I should say, what their soonest avialbility was, she said tomorrow at 2 pm, I asked if that was the soonest because I am in alot of pain, if there was another location she could get me in at I would also be open to that, she laughed and just passed the phone off to someone else, the next woman got on the phone and said "hi, ill be taking over the call, are you aware that the cost could be 500 since youre paing out of pocket, I said yes, I am in pain, I dont care what it costs, I was refferred to you by my doctor" that didnt seem to matter because she repeated herself 2 more times, assuming I couldnt afford it because I was automatically put on medicaid, beacause i was PREGNANT. TL;DR: I am a young healthy male (24) and have been misdiagnosed with IBS for 4+ years up until my recent endoscopy that I had to insist on receiving as a direct result of the callousness of my physician. My frustrations with AG are numerous, but I have been particularly frustrated with the lack of curiosity and arrogance on the part of Dr. Eduardo Alcocer. I came to him in 2016 with digestive problems that I believed at the time to be post-infectious. Diarrhea, bloating, inconsistent bowel movements, sensitivity to certain foods. I went through a preliminary round of blood, stool, and urine testing along with physical examinations. Thankfully, there were no significant abnormalities or indications of major conditions. After this preliminary round of testing, Dr. Alcocer remained steadfast that I had post-infectious IBS and that I simply needed to adhere to the FODMAP diet. For those unfamiliar with the diet, it basically consists of foods that are easiest for the body to break down. He then casually suggested a colonoscopy or endoscopy to get eyes on the potential problem, but downplays their importance and doesn't push the issue further. Even after extreme adherence to this diet, I still experienced symptoms and continued visiting AG for a few more appointments. These appointments were uncomfortable. There I was, sitting in discomfort, and the Dr. is clearly uninterested in what I have to say and tries convincing me that I am not trying as hard as I could to only eat FODMAP foods and that IBS is different for everyone. Sends me on my way with some anti-spasmodic medicine that doesn't work and gives me uncomfortable side effects. No follow up. Finally, upon recommendation of my close family members, I go in for another appointment and ask to for a colonoscopy in Sept. 2019. I want to know for certain that there aren't any other issues going on inside of my gut. After paying for this expensive procedure--which, of course, Dr. Alcocer has a direct financial interest in--I am told that there is nothing wrong with me and to go home. I am dismayed and resign to dealing with my symptoms for another several months until I have a series of flare ups that utterly destroy my quality of life for several weeks. Depressed that apparently nothing can help my condition, I have a conversation with a close friend of the family that has also had unfortunate experiences with the healthcare industry. Her advice to go in and ask for an endoscopy has been a complete game changer. June 2020. Finally, I have visual evidence that my stomach is chronically inflamed, resulting in a reduced digestion time for whatever I eat, that then gets dumped into my duodenum/small intestine prematurely, resulting in my discomfort. Even with this finding, Dr. Alcocer and his office provided no meaningful prognosis besides prescribing a mild antacid. There was no consultation or debriefing for the procedure, and I had to call SEVERAL TIMES just to get the results. *The service at AG has been awful through my whole experience, but I was too young and naive to understand the depth of ineptitude.* read more

A little confusion here with the doctors and the location. My mother came here for a colonoscopy/endoscopy, so she attended the testing center. It's on the corner/end of the strip shopping center. There's a large parking lot but the parking spots are very narrow. It's kind of like a cattle call inside. There's a small waiting room with not a lot of frills. There was a television but it wasn't on. There was what looked like to be a coffee machine, but nothing else. We were hoping that we could leave while my mother was having the procedure done and then come back after lunch, but they told us that we needed to be there at all times. They kind of want you to be all prepped and ready just in case, but once we got inside everything was a lot smoother and it pretty much went like clockwork. The staff is very professional. They seem to know what they're doing and they do. You can tell they do a lot of these. There may be other suites in this shopping center that are the actual doctors, but this was just for the testing. This is directly across the street from Lowe's, and I believe there was a Mexican food trailer in the parking lot of Lowe's. This test is highly recommended. With my mom they found a polyup, colitis and the next day they found something else h-pylori. Many things can be corrected while they are doing the procedure. My one complaint is that they wanted us there an hour early. And there was a sign that said to let them know if you are not called in 15 minutes. So i dont see the point of having to go so early. read more

I had a great experience with Austin Gastroenterology. Downside - it took over a month to get in for an appointment. (and was having pain and discomfort so wound up at an ER to make sure my pain wasn't anything critical) Once I got in, Dr. Ziebert got tests ordered so we could rule out something serious - plus (at the nudge of my primary physician) I stopped dodging the standard-should-get-one-at-50-years-old colonoscopy (I am 55 so clearly was stalling on this one.) Because I also needed an endoscopy, he suggested we just do both at same time. His staff was awesome. Friendly. Helpful. Calming. This was helpful for me because I have not met one person that says yippee to a colonoscopy! They may be out there, but I haven't met one. My procedures went very well. I was given clear instructions and information on my prep and requirements. My financial responsibility was discussed. The only surprise I had was finding out how much time I wasted on fearing the procedure. I was sedated and don't remember anything beyond the kind nurse smiling at me and telling me to 'have a nice nap'. I did have polyps - so they were removed during the colonoscopy (which was a relief. I was new to this process and would have hated to prep again in the near future!) I am surprised at all the less positive reviews because everyone I dealt with was kind, professional and thorough. And the endoscopy center that did my procedures - EVERYONE was kind and soothing. read more

I called this office (a laundry list of pre-existing conditions) and they happily fit me in within 2 days! 10 points already! Lets get into what really counts..... Dr. Ellis is probably in the top 3 doctors I have ever visited (there's been many, sadly) Kind, willing to explain everything, answer questions and come up with a reasonable cure/plan. The doctor that I saw is good. But the appointment/office staff (not the doctor's medical helpers) are rude, opinionated, dumb, and do not know the basics of customer service. To get a call back for an appointment, you have to wait many days. Their website says request appointments through the patient portal. But no one replies even after days. You never can find a scheduler to make an appointment. No one is ever available to pick up the phone. Maybe something happened due to COVID. But the customer service is very poor. These people are doing a disservice to the doctors that practice there. I bet most those doctors do not know the frustration the patients face with this ridiculous folks. Hope someone will step in and clean up the mess. It is not too much to ask to talk to someone to make an appointment when needed. Do not darken the door of this "medical establishment". I waited 4 weeks to see a Dr. That dr made me wait 2 hours to come into the room, spoke to me for 5 mins and then told me she was going to step out so I could get undressed. After waiting another 30 mins I got dressed and left. She called later and apologized saying they would reschedule me for first thing in the morning so i would not have to wait. That appt was scheduled for 2 weeks out. The following week they called to "work me in" because she was no longer available on the day SHE had booked. I fired them and went to another practice where I saw a Dr within 2 weeks and left with answers. My reward was a bill for a full office visit. I called twice telling them that k shouldn't be billed as it was "rescheduled" They subsequently harassed me for months until I paid it. I will be calling my insurance and reporting them for insurance fraud. They are clearly more worried about getting paid than they are worried about helping people. I truly hope they never get treated the way they treated me. read more

I was unable to get an appointment for two months so I had a virtual appointment with a PA. The appointment lasted 10 minutes and I was told to have a procedure. I'm not in the usual age range to receive this procedure so I was a little confused. Medication or smaller tests were not prescribed first , but just straight to a procedure after meeting with me for 10 mins. The procedure ended up costing $1,800. An amount I was not told before the procedure. The procedure came back completely clear. After the procedure I was told to make a vitamin supplement to help my issue. It was very obvious the procedure was a complete scam. Get a second opinion before they tell you to do any procedure. read more

Review of Austin Gastroenterology My husband was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 esophageal cancer. A biopsy was performed at St David's Hospital North, by Dr Kevin Meyers, the on-call doctor from Austin Gastroenterologist. My husband is 6'1" and his weight had dropped from 165 lbs to 132 lbs by his 2nd week of radiation and chemo treatments. Eating and drinking is very painful as the tumor is very large. It is blocking anything that he tries to swallow, solid or liquid. He desperately needs a feeding tube so he can get the nutrients to help him fight the cancer. About ten years ago, my husband was a patient of Dr Craig Lubin, also with Austin Gastroenterologist. We thought that since he was an established patient of both Dr Meyers and Dr Lubin, their offices would make every effort to get him an appointment ASAP. My husband was told by Dr Lubin's scheduler that his earliest availability would not be for at least 4 weeks, but if his oncologist would call, they would expedite the appointment. His oncologist left several messages for Dr Lubin, but the calls were never returned. The oncologist's nurse finally got a hold of Dr Meyer's nurse and was informed that she would work on it and contact my husband directly. When we did not hear anything, we called Dr Meyer's office and was informed that my husband HAD to see Dr Meyer's since he was the one who performed the biopsy, but that Dr Myer's couldn't see him for at least 3 weeks. There are 21 doctors listed on the Austin Gastroenterology website. Surely one of them could have fit him in sooner than later. Why could it only be Dr Meyers, who just happened to be the doctor on-call when my husband was in the hospital? My husband always had high praise for Dr Lubin. I have no doubt that that group of doctors are top notch surgeons, but they rank 0 for being compassionate human beings. This lack of concern (or unwillingness) to triage patients' needs will not soon be forgotten. read more

I get a call today, 08/29/2014, from the office telling me that I needed to pay up front for the procedure and if I did not have the 1/3 of my 80/20 insurance portion, then they would have to reschedule it until I have the money. One word that comes to mind "Extortion". I could not believe the conversation I was having with this office. They 1st told me that since my procedure was scheduled for September, the new insurance calender year, then I would have to pay the $500.00 yearly insurance deductible. I called my insurance and was told that the calender year was from January to December. I called them out on that. That is when they tell me that I needed to pay the amount up front before the procedure and before billing the insurance. Another office on 38th street refuse to see me because I did not have the $40.00 co-pay, granted that I was in pain and I was referred to them by my primary care physician. It is a shame that business like this exist. No person should have to be refused medical treatment if they are unable to pay at the time. This office did just that. So I get really sick and put in the hospital. Next thing I know my gallbladder needs to be removed. At discharge the Dr said "I don't know why your gallbladder was removed it wasn't that infected" a few months after this ordeal I start receiving bills for 3000.00 plus. Why? Because this slaughter house isn't in my network. Oh I'm sorry I was puking, fever × 3 weeks let me stop and make sure you're in my network before you remove my organ. I'm sorry in situations like that maybe you should verify the sick persons insurance and then if you aren't in network let the hospital know so they can find a gastro Dr who is.
