My friend and I came into town for a New Year's getaway from Portland, and were walking around downtown when we found this cute spot! It's in an alley, but the outside is easy to see (it has a little sign that says "coffee" and a blue exterior). When you step inside, there're plenty of tables and a couch in the corner, and a cozy vibe overall. We both ordered lattes, and I loved mine! I got the vanilla bean latte, and it was delicious. We didn't get any pastries, but it looked like they had a nice assortment of local goodies to munch on! But I'd highly recommend this spot. It was delightful! read more

After trying, and not enjoying, the coffee at Thump, we walked here. Very warm and inviting atmosphere. The coffee was excellent. Pastries were big fluffy baked goods from Sparrow and Foxtail. Everyone was friendly and well informed. You can view the roasting operation while waiting for your coffee. Some inside seating. I visited Bend last week with my girlfriend - and she is a coffee snob. She turns her nose up to Starbucks, Coffee Bean, and the other conglomerates. Thus, we searched for the best coffee spot in town... and found it in Lone Pine. You walk in and it smells like fresh waffles and the baristas welcome with you a smile... and they even recommended a great breakfast spot for us to try (Jackson's Corner... a must). I got the Rose Tea and my girlfriend enjoyed a drip coffee... which she loved. Subsequently, we visited this each morning we were in Bend. I loved the atmosphere, the energy, and the tea. Great atmosphere. Coffee was tasty, the seating area and interior design was adorable and warm- gave me a few ideas for my apartment. Wish they had more than one non-dairy option, (i'm an oat milk girl, but they only have their house made almond-cashew creamer; it's ok but a little bitter in my opinion. maybe that's just because i'm used to oat though.) I got an iced latte with said non dairy creamer, and my friend got an iced chai (which was so good). They had a wonderful little sweetener area. The prices were reasonable coffee shop pricing. The pastry section was amazing- the flavors were so creative and the croissant/flakey dough pastries had more layers than i've ever seen. Definitely a high end coffee shop. Do you think there are more coffee roasters or breweries in Bend? That might be a question to ponder over a serving of your favorite brew - be it coffee or beer. My hubby asked it today as we enjoyed a cup of coffee and baked goods (from local bakers Sparrow and Tula) at this little coffee house operated by Lone Pine Coffee Roasters. We've enjoyed Lone Pine coffee before, at the NW Crossing Saturday Farmers Market, and we've purchased their ground coffee for home brewing. But this was our first visit to the little coffee house located in the alley between Minnesota and Franklin Streets in Bend's downtown. In addition to the Sparrow and Tula bakery goodies, Lone Pine makes sandwiches daily - apparently always one vegetarian and one non vegetarian variety, each with a trilogy of ingredients. (Today's trilogy options were turkey-tomato-avocado or bell pepper-tomato-avocado.) They use Bread LaVoy (a Sparrow affiliated bread bakery) baguettes for the sandwiches so they are GOOD things. Very reasonable prices and nice people work here. An added bonus is a little bench outside for outdoor sipping and noshing on a nice day. As to the question that opened this review - the paper today announced a pending 10th Micro Brewery...but there still may be as many coffee roasters. We don't know the answer to the question. read more

This is my husband and I's favorite coffee shop in town. Such deliciousness! The only bummer is that we have a lot of dairy-free friends who we would love to go to coffee with. However, all the dairy-free friends of ours don't like going to Lone Pine because there is only one dairy-free option (I believe homemade cashew milk) and none of them like it. I am very hopeful that there will be some more options for them so that more people could enjoy this delicious coffee! read more

Was expecting something yummier given the high reviews but maybe this is as good as it gets in Bend. The espresso/coffee in my mocha had no flavor at all and even had a strange undesirable aftertaste. Points for using valrhona chocolate and high quality dairy in the drink. read more

As we were about to walk into another Bend coffee shop, our noses picked up the scent of freshly roasting coffee wafting out of a small alleyway. It smelled so good, we had to follow the aroma. And, boy, are we glad we did. It lead straight to Lone Pine. What a magical spot. The friendly (and knowledgeable!) baristas make an amazing espresso and brew up fine cup of coffee. And if Yelp! would allow a sixth star, I'd give that for Lone Pine's baked goods (most are from Sparrow Bakery, I think). The cardamom-laced ocean roll is the best breakfast roll I've ever had, EVER! Lone Pine Coffee is now my first (and last!) stop on any trip to Bend. read more

Lone Pine roasts simply exceptional beans; their drip is some of the most interesting and complex in Bend, if not the very best in town. I love that they make their own alternate milk in house, an almond-cashew blend; the boxed stuff everywhere else uses is gross in comparison and as a someone who doesn't drink dairy, it's the only place I will go for a cappuccino. Their new space is lovely and great for meeting up with friends, or curling up with a book. I love that they source beans grown without pesticides from small farms. The coffee trade can be very dirty and have questionable labor practices, so their careful sourcing matters a lot to me and is a key reason why I will go out of my way to frequent them over other roasters in town. read more

my husband and I both got drinks with the house made almond cashew milk and they both tasted super watered down. my mocha tasted exactly how a starbucks iced mocha tastes once the ice all melts (but served as a hot drink), and my husband described his golden milk as "watered down milk". we each took a couple sips and then threw them away and immediately got different coffee elsewhere. Given the reviews I'm sure the rest of their coffee is great, but the plant milk option really was not :( read more

This coffee shop is located in an ally so it was hard to find. We passed by a few coffee shops, but was determined to find the Lone Pine cause we got a recommendation for it. The shop is pretty small inside. We came in early and it was already crowded. There are desks outside if you don't want to sit inside. We got the Belgium Waffles, Almond Croissant, Coffee, and a Latte. The almond croissant was delicious. The waffles was to die for! I'm glad we where patient enough to find the Lone Pine. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Bend. read more

Met some friends here for coffee when I was in town for Christmas, and it was the best latte I've had in a while: the espresso was balanced and flavorful (pleasantly nutty), while the milk was rich and frothy. The person at the register was very friendly, making small talk as he pre-heated my tumbler and took my payment. The limited seating was packed, and the line didn't move as quickly as it might have, but that seems to describe most of my favorite local coffee places (regardless of city). As others have mentioned: it doesn't have signage that is easily visible from the street, so trust your phone when it sends you down that dark alley. read more

Bend knows how to do hip cafes. Lone Pine was my favorite. The interior is aesthetically pleasing, clean, quiet even with people sitting inside. I got a latte. I usually get soy or oat but don't think they have those options. They've moved onto 2.0 alternative milks like hemp haha. Would come again next time I'm in town. read more

As a passing through visitor from CA, thought Id try this place out for my first morning cup of coffee (no latte, just regular coffee). The Ethiopian coffee was good, but didn't stand out given the unwelcoming service of attitude that came with it. When I decided not to order a latte, felt like I was inconveniencing the staff (a few of them standing by together) by asking about their roast of the day for a strong cup of coffee. The best coffee in bend period. Possibly Oregon. I've made my way down Tin Pan Alley so many times and there was a point where it was every other day. Their coffee shop is currently close, but you can buy their coffee in many different places around vend and Redmond. When their new location opens up I implore you to check it out.
