Cute spot however the wine tasting experience was fairly poor. Small pours relative to others in the region. The server was extremely disinterested in our table which was probably the main reason we didn't like the experience. Probably never coming back here. read more

Great wine, great food, great service, great ambiance. what more can you ask for! Highly recommend the charcuterie board w chicken sandwich.

Sadly this experience ruined it for us Made reservations for lunch and a tasting. Our server Dana was FABULOUS but it ended there. We came here because we had been before and the wine was good and we knew they served lunch. We were starving and in much need of food to offset the intake of wine we were excited to enjoy wine with a nice meal. When we were sat we told our server that we needed food. She quickly went over and informed the waitress and she the waitress said she was busy and would get to us. We waited patiently and after 45 mins realized the waitress was never going to even address us let alone take an order. At the end of our tasting (after being there 1.5 hours) the waitress made eye contact with us and proceeded then to go to the table to the left and table to the right of us. Unacceptable hospitality. At least be brave and admit you forgot us and apologize. Grade school behavior. Dana apologized profusely and even owned up to the fact that she should have stayed on her. Dana - we would have given 5 stars for. (Hence the 2 stars) to balance out the negative experience. I rarely write reviews - only for exceptional and the opposite. Wish this could have been an exceptional review all around. Love family businesses and love to support them. read more

Subtle juice, not so subtly wonderful staff. Good offering of grub once in a while, too. Thank heavens for finesse! read more

Love love love this place! We came upon it after a server told us that the Wine Maker from Tablas Creek owns it and can make wine how he wants to! We love a rogue wine maker! It's rare that you enjoy every wine on the tasting, but we did! Especially the Chenin Blanc Demi Sec. that varietal was off the tasting and so glad Lorraine shared it with us! She is the very best! We really enjoyed her detailed explanation of the wines and how she made us feel very special! We instantly became members and left with a few bottles lol! The winery is very laid back and unpretentious. The view from the 3 wine Barrel chairs was breathtaking ! We came back a second time unfortunately on Lorraines day off. To be honest based on our service I don't think we would have become members if that was our first time. The server kept forgetting about us and we were the only ones there. She did not explain much about the wine and did not seem too passionate. Although Lorraine is a tough act to follow! Looking forward to visiting during the food nights! read more

Enjoyed Burger Sunday! Amazing food. Excellent service. We couldn't find a wine we fell in love with, but everything was drinkable. Our first time to this winery was several months back, pre-COVID, and we were helped by one of the owners, she poured a lot of the bold reds for us and we purchased the cab ($70) and The Will. We were unable to taste these again as there were limits due to COVID. We plan to come back when things get back to "normal". Beautiful view. read more

This guy makes wines for a more notable Paso name but this winery is his pet project, and he puts out some amazing stuff. He might be known for his blends (The Dodd) but I'm a big fan of his single varietals. I'm enjoying his 2013 Tannat right now. His 2012 Tannat (there's white wine, there's red wine, and then, as I now know, there's black wine) may be one of the three or five best bottles I've ever enjoyed. I'm also hoarding a special bottle, the 2010 Bollo (a Barolo-style west side Nebbiolo), which I'll enjoy with, hopefully, a lovely lady and a loin. That may have sounded dirty but in truth it will be romantic and delicious. Damn, still sounding dirty. It's the Tannat. read more

Gorgeous wines AND dry ciders? Yes, please! Amazing recommendation from the staff at Tablas Creek--my husband and I had one day in town and really don't know the area, so we were really at the mercy of suggestions from other folks in the industry. Lone Madrone was a great stop and I think we left with just about everything we tasted (and then some), including the cider. Really fabulous Rhone wines, as well as Zinfandel and several Italian varietals. Britta (sp?) was our host and she was a doll, and she also recommended our other favorite stop of the trip, Giornata. We just enjoyed one of the Zinfandels last night :) Will definitely be on our list the next time we are in Paso! read more

Great location but the wine was horrible. I didn't even finish my tastes. The cider sample was horrible. We had 4 people paid 20 per taste. It was worth 1 dollar. The tasting attendant was not having fun. I wish I had something good to say. read more

A bit off the beaten path but well worth it. Beautiful grounds, well polished wines. Everything was well done - we tend to like pinots and reds in general, and the cab, tannet, dodd, will, syrah were all well balanced and just-right. There was also a zin that is all steel and served cold; very unique. All their wines are dry farmed, which has a certain taste to it. We also got to try the original cider, which was great because we were originally sad we missed the cider room in atascadero (it's only open thurs-sun). That was fantastic as well. read more

This is one of the best wineries I've tasted at in Paso. You couldn't ask for a better location on Adelaida Road. The winery is a very fun atmosphere and the staff definitely knows their wine. You can't go wrong with any wine you taste/buy at Lone Madrone. They also make phenomenal hard cider's!! read more

Beautiful views and even better wine! The "Top Hat" was incredible. Very friendly and accommodating. A must visit on your tour of Paso Robles Wine Country! read more

Lone Madrone - Enjoying the wonderful Top Hat! - Wineries Near Me - Templeton, California

We had high hopes for this wine. Sadly, the wine was average at best. And extremely overpriced. A half bottle dessert wine was $52!! Outrageous. What we were surprised about the most was the lack of personality from the staff. They were all very robotic. The staff wasn't engaging at all. The first guy that helped us just left in the middle of our tasting and we were left standing there staring at each other. That is until another lady showed up and took over. She was much better than the first guy. But after the service and the average overpriced wines, we probably won't be back. read more

We visited on a Saturday, was fairly slow with only one other couple tasting. Service was nothing special which made the tasting rather poor. We enjoy learning about what we are tasting. Instead, we got each pour and the staff member simply walked away. We had high hopes after coming from Tablas creek (same wine maker). Most likely won't return because of this. The property is beautiful. Overlooks quite a bit being up on a hill. The tasting room is an old horse barn that has been redone. Looks great. read more

Been a fan of Lone Madrone for some time. New facility and tasting room manager Ryan Hofmann made our experience fantastic. I've sent many folks to the new location and have been thanked for the recommendation. Dodd is fantastic and my favorite. The other blends they specialize in are equally as good. Definitely a must stop and a compliment to the wineries on Adelaida rd. The address is 5800 Adelaida Rd, Paso Robles, CA read more

Steve, our somm, was excellent. Didn't care for the varietals, but enjoyed our somm so much, we'll be back.

Margaurete is incredible! We have been in a few times before but this last visit was special for my mother in laws 60th birthday. She has never been wine tasting and Margaurete without even knowing that treated us like private guests- like family. She is so knowledgeable! She taught my mother in law how to use her nose to determine the alcohol content in the wine and for the rest of our trip my mother in law was spot on! We will now make Lone Madrone a favorite place here in Paso. Thank you so much Margaurete for helping to create such a wonderful memory for my family. The wine is so delicious too! read more

I love this winery!!!! Open air bar with great wine and live music. We missed the food but I'm sure it would of probably been good. The atmosphere was fantastic!!!! I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Nice little tasting room along Adelaida road. Really liked the inside-outside bar option. We liked most everything we tried. A contrast to Tablas Creek in style for sure. These wines tend to be bolder, and more fruit forward as compared to Tablas. Sometimes wild blends of varietals such as the Barbara+Zinfandel named Barfandel. It tastes better than it sounds. Seemed liked several of the wines offered in the tasting room were blends which is what I do expect in Paso. There is no vineyard here. They source fruit from a variety of vineyards in and around Paso, as do some other wineries. So there would be no Estate wines made here. I was surprised to see the prices have gone up quite a bit since my last visit. One of my favorites Bailey Ranch Zin was unavailable. They're also requiring a purchase of 2 bottles to waive the tasting fee. I see this policy becoming more popular and I find myself buying less wine in the tasting rooms. read more

Lone Madrone is a small but new winery that has plenty of potential to grow into a very strong following of wine drinkers with their great selection of delicious wines. The atmosphere is laid back, easy going & comfortable. Picnic areas, patio, indoor and outdoor tasting bars, this is a really nice place to visit on your winery trip list. read more

We experienced the Pure Expression Private Tasting of Lone Madrone wines on March 24. Ryan is passionate about wine as well as knowledgeable and personable. There's also a wine bar for tasting. The people who came in while we were there were happy and smiling as they tasted the wines. Neil Collins, his wife Marci and sister Jackie have created a unique brand based on dry-farmed vineyards, eclectic varieties and site-driven wines. The wines are amazing. I can't wait to get our wine in to try the Cab with barbecue. (This is Neil's go-to-wine when he barbecues.) If you can't visit the winery, visit their website. The descriptions of the wines accompanied by the foods that would compliment them are some of the best descriptions that I've seen. Lone Madrone was Wine of the Week in Food and Beverage World Magazine during March 2016. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g32861-d1188663-r359807719-Lone_Madrone_Winery-Paso_Robles_San_Luis_Obispo_County_California.html# read more

Great wine! Great food (we were here on Saturday for Chef Jeffery Scott) and the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque soup was out of this world! And the winery/view were spectacular! Home run!! read more

This place is awesome and their wines are beyond awesome. There is a huge variety if you're either a lover of white or red wines. We love the new location as well. The people there are friendly and knowledgeable and often will let you revisit a taste to get the right bottle. My favorite is the Tannet, but the Will, Syrah is great as well. My husband and I also love their Cab Sauvignon. Our favorite white was the Mezcla. It is dry, crisp and a perfect summer porch wine! They also serve crackers to help you cleanse your pallet between tastings. It is also situated in a beautiful location with lots of tables to sit outside, so you can bring the whole family. Everytime we have come here we have bought 4-6 bottles, which is a first for us. Our next goal is to join their wine club. Don't miss it. read more

What a great new tasting room and location! Lone Madrone has really stepped it up with the new location. These are some of the best wines in the region and the wine maker is one of the best also. Visited the ridge top Winery's tasting room for the first time and found there a refreshing change from so many of the wines I've tasted. Lighter and more complex whites, a startling cheerful Rose which I needed to finish at brunch this Saturday instead of my habit of saving some for another day ... and this led me to anticipate and appreciate even more what was coming. Dinner ... and the 2012 Dodd. Wow! When I let this red breath and taste before dining ... instead of sampling at the end of a tasting cycle, I was able to really appreciate more deeply the complexity and full palate experience I enjoyed before ... having another glass and another. read more

While the same winemaker as Tablas Creek, I am much more the fan of Lone Madrone wines! They offer a huge variety of both red and white wines and I'm a big fan of the "Barfendel", not just for its name, but also the wine....absolutely fantastic! read more

My best friend and I went wine tasting last year and I bought this amazing port that was a limited addition. Unfortunately the cork fell apart while I tried to open it, it was oxidized and the flavor wasn't the same. I called lone madrone and experienced exceptional service, they were unable to locate a bottle of the bad Shepard but sent me a replacement wine. Very happy with the customer service I received. I'll definitely order again. Thank you guys for being so amazing! read more

Unplanned stop at Lone Madrone, one of those "Hey, let's check this out" and it ended up being the best stop on the trip. Wines were great as everything we tasted was top notch. Some of the wines we got in Paso did not seem to hold up as well once we got home, this one did. Highly recommend. read more

Beautiful tasting room!! The live music outside was very nice, a great place to relax and buy a burger with your glass of wine. Unfortunately our tasting room attendant Michael was snobby, rude, and grumpy. Tasting wine should be fun, relaxing, and educational but he made us feel like peons and turned his nose up at us. And then asking to taste the cider was just asking way too much of him. Huge bummer. read more

A true highlight of our trip to Paso. If you are fortunate enough to visit when Steve is there, you're in for fantastic conversation as well as delicious wine. We biked to the vineyard from town and the tasting room was a welcome site after the hill up Adelaida Rd. The vineyard stocks big, flavorful reds (and crisp whites). But getting to talk with Steve elevated the experience past simply tasting the delicious wines that are plentiful in this region. We covered everything from the origin of the Zinfandel and Picpoul grapes to the derivation of Plavic Mali from the wine tome behind the bar. Don't miss this one (ask for Steve). PS they make some nice cider too. read more

If you're looking for some great quality reds, this is definitely the place for you. All the ones from the tasting were delicious. The workers there were so friendly and offered us try 5 more drinks that were not even on the tasting list. The Cabernet Sauvignon was so unique and far from your typical sweet red. Also, if white ports are your thing, you MUST try Sweet Cheeks. Unlike many ports that can be almost too sweet and overwhelming, Sweet Cheeks is SO smooth has the perfect amount of sweetness and you can taste almost no alcohol. I seriously think that I can drink it all in one sitting. That says a lot about this port. If you get a chance, be sure to try their hard ciders. It's very dry and has a hint of tartness. I will be coming back to Lone Madrone when I pass through Paso. read more

This is one of the best experiences of the trip! We walked in as the first stop in our day and were greeted immediately by the wine marker, Neil's, sister. She was so informative and really guided our experience. We learned so much about Neil, his vision, and philosophy. The takeaway is that Neil is incredibly creative and brave, and Lone Madrone wines benefit immensely from this! The wines are unique and incredibly good. The price point makes these such a value! We loved our experience and are looking at joining their club! read more
