Really fun air boat rides with beautiful views and above-average fried local favorites. The air boats take you out on a 30 minute ride through lush brush and flora and plentiful wildlife. After, we had lunch. The gator and chicken wings were their two recommendations. I went with the chicken which is thin strips of chicken fried with a bit of breading and doused in buffalo sauce. Kind of boring though. Dry chicken with too much sauce. The slaw was good and the fries were perfectly cooked. But the hush puppies were the real star. Knockout good - almost like fried donut holes. After a fun airboat ride we were all hungry. Luckily there is a restaurant right on the dock. Sest yourself and the friendly servers will take your drink order. Today I ordered the clam chowder and the fish and chips. The chowder was packed full of tasty ingredients and was hot and creamy. The fish and chips were plentiful and very tasty. I just ate here with my family today. My son immediately got sick after drinking his sweet tea. And this was after the waitress warned him, "This is southern sweet tea, it is gonna give you a rush." Rush is an understatement. And this is definitely, a locals only hang out. If you are from out of town, it might not be so customer friendly. I don't know how reliable my input is because I've been living out of the South and away from good fried food for a very long time, but our dinner at Lone Cabbage really hit the spot and satisfied a lot of nostalgia cravings. I got one of the sampler baskets which included deep-fried catfish, shrimp, and gator and was so. so. happy. Meats tasted fresh, piping hot, and were properly tender with the right ratio of breading to meat. None of that overcooked, toughness here--just quality like I remember family members back home making at get-togethers. My only real complaint was that the hushpuppies were overly sweet (more like a dessert, honestly) and really, really, really oily. The taste wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't what I was looking for. The night we went, it was pouring rain and we were one of only two couples out on the deck which overlooks the water; thankfully, there was a roof, but it didn't do much for the wind. Despite being chilly and misted by spray the whole time, it was such a pleasant experience--watching the fish leap and the gators poke their heads out of the water and wishing the weather was better so as to take advantage of the airboat tours attached to the place. Overall, it's just a nice, unpretentious place. Lighting was on the dark side. Generations of customers' names carved into the greying wood of the dock, sticky menus, condiments brought out in what looks like a teal plastic shower caddy, and no sense of urgency whatsoever (in a good way). We were probably pretty obviously tourists, but the service was A+ and the prices were very reasonable. read more

Lone Cabbage Fish Camp is one of my favorite little gems in Cocoa! I have eaten here with friends and family on several occasions, and everyone has had a great experience. It's an incredibly versatile restaurant with their menu options...you can order everything from fried gator to frog legs to the typical American burger. I love that this restaurant is far enough off of the road to feel private, secluded, and close to nature...it's literally situated next to the St. John's river. When dining you can sit inside, but we have always chosen to sit outside to enjoy views of the river and wildlife (it is typical to see gators trolling past). It is also fun to watch the airboat rides! Speaking of the airboat rides, you can opt to purchase tickets for their airboat rides, which averages about $22 a person (plus a tip for your captain afterwards!) Be prepared to take photos... the scenery is unparalleled and people are surprised at the random wildlife they encounter, such as cows and wild horses along the way! The captain is incredibly informative and does his best to get the passengers as close as he can for those coveted photo opportunities. If airboat rides aren't your thing, they have live entertainment on the weekends...but parking can get pretty intense on Saturdays and Sundays. I cannot recommend it enough... This place is so amazing, I feel compelled to share this "off the beaten path" place to friends and strangers! read more

Took an air boat ride with the family. The captain did a great job of finding the alligators that were hiding in the grasses since it was windy and cold outside. We ended or visit with some alligator bites at the restaurant. A very fun outing. read more

Been going for yrs and will be going again Saturday after a play date with my grandchildren in Melbourne. Never brought our dog however not sure if they're pet friendly on the dock seating. We will have our dog Saturday because the grandchildren have never met him, so hopefully he'll be allowed. On a leash of course. If pets are not allowed could someone follow up and let me know please. May have to adjust plans. read more

I love going to Lone Cabbage! The food is always so good. If you're going to go, unfortunately sometimes there are smokers outside. Yet it's good to enjoy the Florida scenery and look at some gators. It's also up to you to go to on Sat/Sun, the band is OK. But overall, good workers, food, and over all 8/10. (Personally I do feel bad for the effort the workers put in to having to hear "that" band.) read more

I have driven past lone cabbage if you times and decided to stop in one Saturday afternoon. The restaurants it's right on the St. Johns River you can either dying inside or dine outside. Inside of the restaurant they have many alligator heads scattered throughout the restaurant. I don't know if they are for sale or not but they seemed to be. You can also book an airboat ride inside of the restaurant. On this day we decided to dine on the river. They did have someone playing live music while we were there. He was not the best but he was not the worst. He definitely added some entertainment while you're waiting on your food. The food was decently priced and was honestly not bad at all. We came here not expected I have a five course meal but honestly it's one of the better burgers I have had in a very long time. Stopped here last night as I drove through Cocoa Beach, had a craving for fried gator and I was with a friend who had never had gator. When I called to ask if they were open (y'all know, the corona) the woman was very nice and said they were so we drove right over. Atmosphere outside was so lively! We sat and a waitress came over right away to ask us for our drink order and then brought menus. We ordered fried gator, fried catfish, and frog legs. The gator and catfish were entrees and came with hush puppies, fries and coleslaw. The food came out fairly quickly. We inhaled it. Everything was delicious. Absolutely delicious. The frog legs were so juicy. The gator and catfish soooo full of flavor. Hush puppies were dangerously good. They were kind of sweet, almost like donuts. I inhaled them. Cold drinks, food delicious, service good, and everything was reasonably priced. We'll be back here. What a little gem of a spot! Thank y'all so much! read more

Quality of the food was mediocre. Literally, I have made better burgers at home than this place, and I wouldn't qualify to work in a restaurant. What was served as tea most definitely was not. Catfish should not be made into nuggets, as they demonstrated. Staff were not taking basic pandemic precautions like masks, which was concerning. We have been coming here for years and, once again, it didn't disappoint! My husband had the sampler platter which had catfish, alligator, and frog legs with fries and hush puppies. He had baked beans as his other side. I got the three item sample which had the same meats. I also had a side of cole slaw. Delicious!
