Crab salad
Avery W.

I came to London House for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. Seating is semi-outdoors, but that was just fine in Hong Kong's winter weather, and it also wasn't really busy, so I was able to have a quiet conversation. I ordered from the set menu which had some Christmas inspired dishes like a roasted turkey breast and Christmas pudding. I ordered the potted beef to start, served with sliced pickles and some crispy slices of bread. The beef itself had this very creamy and mustard-like dressing which gave it a very pleasant aroma that also went fantastically with the pickles and bread together combining salty and sweet flavours with a very subtle, but pleasing bitterness. Their set menu that day also featured a crab salad, and I took a few forks from my mother's plate and that was great too. Despite having to substitute the cream based dressing for a vinaigrette dressing since she's lactose intolerant, the crab and vegetables were fresh, and the nuts and pomegranate added an extra level of crunchiness and sweetness that added to the flavour of the crab. I proceeded to order the seabass, which was okay. I probably should've known better since I do tend to prefer more flavourful dishes, and there is only so much that you can do with a white fish like seabass. The sauce was nice and creamy and complemented the fish well, the beans and potatoes that came with the fish were also a nice touch. I also tried the turkey breast and it was great, the stuffing was very well seasoned and huge turkey was also quite nicely cooked (turkey always going to be dry unless you smoke it, or are daring enough to have it raw or as a tartare- [don't do it]) To top it off, I had a Christmas pudding that was surrounded in vanilla sauce. Some may feel that it's too much since the pudding was practically swimming in it, but the sauce was very light, and did not over power the pudding. I liked the Christmas pudding because you could taste a little bit of each component of the pudding, from the cinnamon to the raisins, the rum(? What spirits do they use? Correct me if I'm wrong.) and the tiny little almond flakes. Ultimately the pudding seems to have reflected Gordon Ramsay's values around how food should be. With the fantastic value for money you get, I do unfortunately have to remark that there is still some room for improvement with wait staff, which can sometimes be hard to flag down as they try to juggle between the demands of maintaining the restaurant (specifically service could be warmer she friendlier, and waitstaff could benefit from checking the dining space more often for customers that require assistance. Overall, it was a great experience. I'll definitely come again, and I do (or maybe I don't- more tables for me!) recommend London House. Especially during lunch.

Great food and the best burger in Hong Kong? Great brunch specials but alas it's closed

White baites

A causal version of Gordon Ramsay's restaurant. This place serve classic pub food. We ordered White baites and cold cut platter as starter, followed by the good old classic fish & chips and Bangers & mash. Desserts included Eton mess and bread butter pudding. It was a nice meal given the decor is nice and service overall is pretty good. The fish and chips was exceptionally good! However, other dishes are quite salty. We finished the meal feeling quite thirsty and hence giving a 3 stars for this meal. Would I come back again? Probably, I can foresee myself coming back with friends for a drink and some nibbles.

Nice Location Great Service The Tuna Tatar is gorgeous- tuna with nice texture and sauce that completes the snack. The place is set up as a british pub with huge screen for sport events and a small stage for live music. Room for improvement: 20 minutes waiting for a Tuna Tatar is a little bit long Other guests also had problems getting the food in a appropriate time.

Bruschetta

A pub that offers good food and wine, with a beautiful view and live music - what more could one want on an evening out with friends? I tried the bruschetta - crisp, with the oil and garlic quite distinct on the topping, and shepherds pie - well cooked with an even crusty top and delicious potatoes. Do try it!

French Oysters

Let's have some background first. This resturant had open more than a year. I always wanted to go but do not have a good excuse. Therefore, many people had already gone and its rating in the net was not very impressive. I had my doubt when i made the decision still have a try. For the evening, we ordered 1 sausage roll; 2 French shucked Oyster, mignonette sauce, lemon; 3 Fish and chips, crushed peas, tartar sauce; and 4 Grill lamb with Russel Sprout. For drinks, we had Spitfire, Ale, UK and Whitstable Bay Blonde, Láger, UK. Beside food, other important factor in dinner is the environment. The resturant has two floors. People can choice the ground floor open area where people can smoke and enjoy the Tsim Sha Tsui sea view ; or ground floor indoor near the live band area; or second floor which also has the same sea view but avoided the smoking area. Second floor is for people made reservations, however it is also near the kitchen. It is also closed that night because lack of staffs. So, we had the inner area of ground floor near the band and away those smoking people. The view is nice and the atmosphere of the resturant is good too. Although it is not the most important essence but the live band is not good. I would say the fault is on both male and female singer. It is quite disappointing. At least, i expected good English in an English resturant. (Music start at 9pm) In term of foods, it had its high and low scores. For first round, we had sausage roll and oyster. I was so disappointed with the sausage roll. It looks like those Yam Cha (飲茶)Barbecue Pastry (叉燒酥)in Chinese resturant. But God, I was wrong, it was so good. The sausage itself was very delicious and the pastry went well with it. You could see that they also put cheese in the pastry. For the oyster, I enjoyed it without and sauce. The mignonette sauce is good. Still, no sauce for me. But, my friend enjoy it with the mignonette. For second round, we had fish and chip and grill lamb. I was very disappointed with the fish and chips. Many reviewers recommended it. I would give point to it that the fish is big. But, the fish itself lack of taste. So, i put more tartar sauce with it. The chips is good. The flowers on top of the fish was thin and was fry properly. For the grill lamb, it was beautiful and fantastic. The lamb was very tasty, had good balance of fat and lean meat. The sauce and Russell Sprout was all good. Both beers, Whitstable and Spitfire, was very good. We ordered it because they were not common in HK. Spitfire is lighter and have more flavour. Whitstable had stronger wheat taste. Overall, I would give it 8/10. Bottom line is nice view, good atmosphere, possible good food, At least i am still open mind with go it again. The price will not be cheap but i still it reasonable. P.S. it has a big TV to watch sport. And the service is fine. I don't have complaint with it like i found on the commend in the net.

We sat out for lunch, it was initially very smoky but the smell was pleasant. The chef came over and said he has a small kitchen and needed to burn off the grills. He was a really nice guy, told us he was from Adelaide Australia had gone to work in London with Gordon Ramsay, left after a few years to go home and on the way back stopped in Hong Kong and ended up running London House. Food and drinks were great, I had bangers and mash my wife had the chicken curry. The chef came back after our meal to check everything was ok. Staff were very attentive, in all a perfect introduction to my first visit to Hong Kong!

Food is decent, drinks are well made and the music is good. It's right along the waterfront so you have a nice view.

It has a friendly pub atmosphere, the food is alright, and the WiFi is fast and free. No matter what day it is, you'll always see a crowd on your way home from work. If you're a beer person, you're in luck as they have some nice local ones available. I'm in a wine mood these days so the fact that they had rosé by the glass made me a happy camper already. I think of this place as the "Cheers" of Hong Kong... come here enough and everyone will know your name. And they're always glad you came.

Phoenix offers a wide range of beers on tap in addition to liquor. Personally, I'm a huge fan of their Gweilo IPA, which is a very fruity craft beer that is brewed in Hong Kong. Grab a pint of that during happy hour for extra value. Phoenix also offers some pretty decent food options as you have a drink, like their fried chicken wings (served with garlic). I have yet to try their brunch (weekends only), and I've also heard great things about their burgers. I'll probably check that out soon.

Let's be honest- steak is friggin expensive in Hong Kong, but you get a perfectly cooked, good sized piece of meat for a very reasonable price ($288 for a 14 oz ribeye). A carnivores delight! The atmosphere is classy and the service top-notch. The host even remembered me when I came in. Sides (especially the fries) are a great compliment to the steak. There's even a special on Wednesday nights that includes several different cuts, salad and sides. If you're hankering for some bovine flesh, head to Elgin Street and indulge!

Minus side, the waiters are super disorganized, at least 2-3 waiters came to our table and repeated the same questions. "- would you like to have wine?". "- do you want some dessert" and so on. I can't complain that they are not service minded. But it's really annoying when another waiter come and repeat the same question when its already answered. Its a bit pricey but if you get the asiaexpat supermonday.com card and you can dine 50% off on Mondays.
