She brings this to French food, here in Hong Kong with this beautiful quote," I want everybody here to have an amazing time- laugh, have fun, talk loudly as you try what I send out from my humble kitchen." This is big. This is really something! I have been lucky to wander a little and have never had a chef let us be ourselves wrt etiquette n rules while traveling in Asia. No judgement just enjoy! Boy did we enjoy and love the whole roasted chicken with Petits Pois a la Francaise, the Fluke with Bergamot and Black Lime( delicious- not a fluke!), the millefuille( as my LI friend and sis Christina J would smile & say DAYUMMMMM), Foie Gras with Eiswein and Plum, my fav and two time fun with the Black Prawn w calamansi & eggplant, Dover sole with green asparagus, piny lobster with Swiss chard and Lardo Di Colonatta , the A4 Miyazaki beef with pearl onions and the Madagascar( I'd like to move it move it and I was dancing and singing after the first spoon) Chocolate Royal w Hazelnut. Previously more of a neo-bistro, relocation in 2021 filling an intimate and sophisticated space barely demarcated on the street, it is from posh seats that diners are invited to order a la carte or from a tasting menu featuring French technique but plenty of local influence. Best know for whole roast Chicken for two, a tableside presentation seen several times for surrounding guests, Christmas night found Chef Zuidervliet's tasting begin with an amuse of Kampachi followed by a dazzling Vegetable Tart crowned by Petrosian Caviar and Bonito with a hint of Shiso. Led by decidedly French service, Foie Gras and Sweetbread Pate en Croute both reminiscing the best of Paris or Lyon, Japanese Scallop Mousse next found itself perched on Maple-soaked Brioche and Truffles perfuming the palate. Punching well above it's single Michelin star and price point, Mackerel in Red Curry akin to something one might see at a Robuchon Restaurant, Peking Duck arrives in two services including smoked Leg in Corn Mousse prior to creamy Brie and a layer of Eldeflower-Persimmon Gelee. Requesting a substitution at Dessert, Chocolate surely a fine choice but Mille Feuille a la minute always special, BELON'S version with Pineapple plus Kaffir Lime shines brightly in terms of taste as well as texture before finishing with Mignardises and take-home Kouign Amann.

Bistro du Vin stood out amongst all the others and for one particular reason; its so darn charming! I was invited to a bday party over the weekend and while from the outside, it doesn't look much since its situated in the middle of two bars, once you step in, its like being back in a cafe in Paris. The decor is fabulous and the furniture is almost Parisian authentic. There's old posters, street signs, paintings... pretty much a lot of decorations you will find in a French cafe... in France! But what about the food? I'll have to admit that it was quite yummy. We had a a beef stew casserole, pork knuckles and sauerkraut, salmon in tomato sauce which overall were quite delicious and enough as sharing dishes. The host brought his own wine but they let us stay on a Sunday night until 11:30pm. Service was mostly good however I don't think they were accustom to so many foreigners at once and we were quite loud so thanks for putting up with us. Bistro Du Vin is really a nice place to bring several friends for a night of good conversation over good food and good wine. Def be back.

The setting is casual with a nice Paris like bistro decor. This place is small and the tables tightly sit next to each other to make use of the space. Especially on weekends it is crowded. The atmosphere is buzzing but very pleasant. They have 2 seating's, first from 630 - 830, second from 830 until close. The service is efficient and quick, may lack of warmth and friendliness depending of the server; especially when the place is packed. The wine list is small, with only a few selections of sparkling, red and white. If you want to have a nice bottle, bring your own wine. For every 2 person they waive the corkage for one bottle. If you bring more they charge you HK$ 200 per bottle which is very reasonable nowadays. The selection of food is adequate and offers typical french bistro fare. I have to say that the quality and taste of food is excellent. None of the dishes we tried were a letdown. My favorite appetizers were the escargots on bone marrow and the Home Salted Brandade, Soft Egg. Both are really delicious. My favorite main courses were the Coq Au Vin, the Suckling Pig Leg and the Char Grilled Cote De Boeuf. The chicken is so tender, fell of the bone and almost melted in your mouth. Same for the suckling pig which was really tender and the skin still crispy. If you're a beef lover try the Cote De Boeuf. This you have to pre-order as they don't keep it on stock all the time. This is best for sharing as including bone it comes at 1 Kg! I totally forgot to ask of the origin of the beef but in any case it's great. Cooked perfectly medium the meat was very juicy and tender. Be careful not to order to many main dishes if you're going for the Cote De Boeuf. It's filling! I am a bernaise guy and their bernaise is extremely good. Light and airy, perfectly done. Don't miss out on the frites that accompany the beef and the potato salad that accompanies the pork! It may be difficult to leave room for dessert but make sure to try the Fresh Baked Madeleines with Mousse au Chocolat. They serve them warm and they are still crispy! The mousse is fluffy and airy. It's made mainly out of dark chocolate which makes it not so heavy. Is it pricey? Yes, but worth every penny. Repeat factor 150%!

It is baked in salt and served with mushrooms in a cream sauce over rice cooked in cast iron casserole dish. There isn't much description on the menu items so I would suggest taking some time to speak with the staff to understand what to order or to do some research ahead of time. I particularly enjoyed the frog legs, pasta dishes, and chocolate dessert.

Not especially exciting dish but done pretty well. The salmon is served on a piece of toasted bread and topped with greens. The greens were a bit too much and could have used a bit more salt. Overall still pretty tasty. The French chicken dish is a signature dish and I can see why. You get too pieces of chicken served over mashed potatoes with asparagus. This dish is really delicious. I will come back here just to order this. Chicken is really tender and juicy and the asparagus is cooked perfectly as well. For dessert I had the apple tart. This is ok and wouldn't really recommend. Not bad per se but wasn't great. The ice cream was the best part of the dish.

Came with a group, and shared as is the Hong Kong way. Really loved the enormous red cheese slicer that was used to shave our Grana Padano on the charcuterie platter, the stand outs of the evening were the gravadlax-- lovely and smoky served simply with a bit of creme fraîche and toasted baguette as well as the most wonderfully cooked lamb chops that were perfectly seasoned. Other than the mutton at Bowrington Road's Hot Food Centre this is probably the best lamb dish I've had in HK thus far. Full bar was there, but I only had wine. To roundup: Great concept, awesome service and decent pricing scheme. I'm a fan!

My friend and I are hard-core red wine lovers that the selection here is not bad at all. My friend went for old style onion soup, and lamb for the main. I shared the salad with goat cheese and had a seared salmon. And and and, they have GREAT bread here. It is somewhat european standard. The decor is modern, high tables and a Parisian feel. There's a vast brunch menu, and an appetising a le carte to choose from. I went for the croque Madame. It was crispy, cheesy and spot on. A huge portion that was accompanied by a side of fries and salad. We followed on our main with some desert. Hey, it's Sunday - why the hell not. Three of us decided to share an "apple pie". Do not let the name fool you. The pie part is more like a tartin and the apples, perfectly spiced like a British crumble. The whole thing together was more than a pie - it was like a crumbtin. Brilliant and satisfying. I was so stuffed after our meal thatI was glad that I did a 20 minute walk to and from brunch. One element of dining that plays an important factor, aside from the food, is the staff. Staff make an experience. The team at Metropolitan stole my heart. They have such a wonderful spirit, are able to joke with customers and make you feel so at home. They did not bat an eyelid when we spent 2 hours at our table, laughing, joking and drinking what felt like endless cups of coffee. On the note of coffee, a latte is served with a bit side Madeira cake. Fuck me (excuse my French) this tasty morsel absolutely won the day. The main course was delicious. The apple pie scrumptious.... But the Madeira cake was the best one I've tasted in years. Moist, dense and the perfect bitesized morsel.

Luckily for me, the L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon in Hong Kong is 3 Michelin stars and also affordable (relative to its reputation). I decided to come here for lunch with my wife as my first ever 3 Michelin star experience. I reserved a lunch reservation about a month in advance. The restaurant is very romantic and fancy. We were seated at a bar style counter, and we were escorted to our seats. The staff were all very attentive. Many were multi-lingual in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. We ended up each ordering the lowest cost lunch tasting menu with one amuse bouche, one appetizer, one soup, one entree, and a dessert. We also each got a drink. I got a mocktail with lychee and mint which was an amazing palate cleanser between courses. The amuse bouche was a cracker with uni on top. The uni was very soft like Hokkaido uni and the cracker went well with the soft texture of the uni. We had a complimentary bread basket with a variety of different breads, all of which were amazing. I loved the croissants. For my own appetizer I chose the salmon caviar. I've never had that much caviar in my life in one sitting, it was amazing. My wife got the yellowtail carpaccio which was also amazing. The soup was a mushroom style soup with foam and a single matsutake mushroom. Soup was savory, rich, and a delight to the senses. We both got the pigeon entree. I'd never had pigeon before, my wife did but said she did not like it before. She loved this pigeon though, which was cooked slightly on the rarer to medium rare side. The pigeon was super soft. It was also wrapped with foie gras which made it decadent and rich. For dessert I chose coffee and also the coffee ice cream dessert with gelato, coffee crumble, and coffee jelly. Super rich but quite tasty. The coffee also came with a variety of small sweet snacks. Joel Robuchon truly lived up to its hype, and was well worth the cost. I will definitely come back.

The cake layer distribution in the new cube version is just now as good as the dome version. There are more cream than cake/chocolate ball crunch ratio. It is still good, I just prefer the dome version. I also tried their green tea red bean roll cake and that is not my cup of tea. Speaking of tea, I also tried their latte. Not my cup of tea again. It is below average for a latte drink. I mean it is better than Starbucks (and way better than McDonalds), but not up to the average latte level for a coffee shop. I could hand whisk a latte better than theirs, and given they have the machine... I have higher expectations. BTW I have been there 3 times during my Hong Kong visit, and by the 3rd time, they have a promotion where basically the drink combo is like HKD$20 cheaper (roughly). Not a driving force for me to buy their drink. I will opt'ed for the drink downstairs instead. Service is great. I will return.
