We stopped by the continental for a random dinner. What stood out to me first was the venue. Really nice ambiance and decor. It's what you'd expect for a restaurant like this. The French onion soup was amazingly good. The toasted bread on top, dripping with cheese. Fresh oysters, briney and slippery - can't go wrong with fresh oysters! The bone marrow had that fatty, collagen and marrow in it. The fish was pretty good too. The lamb was a bit undercooked but the fries were crispy and salty. Perfectly fried. Good restaurant to take a date or just get some quality, fine dining. Nice sitting but menu not many varieties, but in Mother's Day good to find a table, what can you expected.

The Continental wasn't around when I lived in Hong Kong, but I came here for afternoon tea with a friend this time around. The restaurant is nice with pleasant decor, however, the selection of afternoon tea items was average. We didn't want any sweet items, and since the standard afternoon tea items come with sweet selections, we ordered a la carte. After a selection of finger sandwiches, we ordered a Croque Madame to share. It was decent but not fantastic. This wouldn't be my first choice but it is at Pacific Place so it is very convenient and also offers outside patio seating.

Great restaurant and bar! The chef is from Chicago and has relocated to Hong Kong and is a French trained. The bartender who is a young man name Safal is also a good mixologist. He is also has a great personality and speaks English well. We didn't try any of the food but had quite a few shots and cocktails. It was right across from our hotel, the Conrad, so great place to have one too many for us.

Domani closed in May 2014 upon the expiry of its lease, ending the Italian restaurant's 6 year tenure at the free-standing structure designed by Heatherwick Studio. Replacing Domani, we have The Continental, another addition to Swire Hotel's growing portfolio of stand-alone restaurants since it's first one (Plat du Jour in Quarry Bay) opened in November 2013. While the structure retains its iconic exterior with the elegant fluid/wavy roof and glass walls, the interior is re-vamped by David Collins Studio (that designed a number of Michelin restaurants), who retains the organic wood and bronze of its predecessor while injecting "Continentality" with warm accents of emerald green. While the drinks list is commendable, I wasn't able to find the Italian favorites I used to order at Domani; hence I turned to Scotch, and was delighted to see that they had around 20 quality names to choose from. I picked the love-it-or-hate-it Laphroiag 10-Year ($180) since smokiness has been my recent craze. A note of caution to fellow whisky-lovers: order your drink neat or ice on the side since they do not have proper ice. Given the restaurant's focus on fresh locally-sourced organic ingredients, it was natural to start with some fresh seafood. Cherrystone Clams on the Half Shell ($120) were quite succulent and the stringy texture allowed you to better detect the sweetness while chewing. The sauce, which contained diced shallots, peppers and vinegar also paired well with the clams. I would recommend this dish if not for the sand that wasn't thoroughly washed from the shells. Moving on to the mains, the Hanger Steak with Chips and Shallot & Red Wine Sauce ($235) was a no-brainer for me, the meat was tender and cooked to medium-rare to my preference. The fries were shoe-string, which I much prefer over wedges. It was a delicious dish and a little moment of victory for me. The steak also came with Shallot & Red Wine Sauce, which resembled concentrated French Onion Soup without the Cheese, actually not bad; but I was happy with mustard, where the restaurant offered a choice between French Dijon, English and whole-grain. The Snapper with Citrus Fruits and Olive Oil ($225) was well paired, where the acidity of the fruits were pleasant against the mild flavor and texture of the fillet. However, I found the snapper a bit too thickly-cut, and hence bland and lacking of flavor. On the side, we ordered a Creamed Spinach ($45). Actually, may I rename this to Milked Spinach Gratin. As opposed to the usual steakhouse dish, it was milky instead of creamy, giving it a lighter healthier substance. I really loved that it was baked under an overhead grill like a gratin to give it a bit of a golden crust of cheese. All in all, Swire seems to have the F&B business down to a formula. The Continental serves well-executed fail-proof dishes in an ambient setting; making it a versatile outlet for many occasions. be it business lunches, brunch, family & friends' gatherings, birthdays, romantic dinners and so on. They also have an al fresco area, perfect for the breezy autumn weather as of late. I believe I'll be back for brunch or some wine & dine soon.

The first time I came here was actually back in March, right before I went to the Asia Contemporary Art Show. Since I got there before my friend did, I had some time to enjoy my hot chocolate before she arrived. Hot Chocolate Nothing special about the hot chocolate here but the ambiance at The Continental is pretty relaxing, complete with an outdoor area, which is perfect for chilling and catching up with friends over drinks. After my friend arrived, I was already famished by that point. I opted for the Eggs Benedict, thinking it would be a safe choice. Eggs Benedict The Eggs Benedict were pretty mediocre. Not much to comment here and definitely no surprises. Just an ordinary, relaxing weekend brunch. I went back to The Continental two more times for brunch after that and my final verdict for The Continental is don't expect the food to be great. However, if you just want a nice place to catch up with friends, go for it.

Its hidden in a corner on the street level of Pacific Place across from the Upper House but the moment I stepped in, I fell in love with the décor.

This review is only for the pineapple bun…read more I do not recommend. On multiple, multiple food review sites writing about the best pineapple bun in HK, Kam Fung made the list. Happened to be in wan chai today so why not- We got take out for two buns- one with butter and one without. But even before opening the package we knew something was wrong. Each bun was wrapped in plastic, but was so extremely heavy. How could a bun be so heavy? Opening it and taking a bite - it's like chewy raw dough. I'm not sure if it was really raw, but that's what it felt like. I couldn't finish it. I didn't even want to take a second bite, really. I'm actually very surprised at the good reviews on the bun here. Its one of the few times that Google reviews are more fair and accurate than Yelp reviews for me. Don't trust the lists!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't get this bun!!!!

This Cha Chaan Teng is really for old school HK'ers. I was not a fan of any of their "baos"…read more.. Their milk tea was not great either. It didn't have the milk tea flavor... Perhaps it's just not for my kind of tastebud... my younger son liked his macaroni in soup. My older one did not like his "bor lor yao"... which is the pineapple bun with a thick piece of butter... all the baos were very dense... and not fluffy like other ones we've tried. The only saving grace - the Chicken Pie! It's crusty and flavorful. Anyway, small shop, a few tables and you will be sharing with strangers if you're solo. They do pour the left over soups into a bucket right underneath your seats... so not quite sanitary... but you'll live. Bring lots of wet naps. Cash Only.

The eggs being over cooked, had a non runny yolk. I ordered sides of baked beans and corn grits which were both fine. Our plates came out with the sides switched up. Not a big deal. Not bad for a western breakfast in Hong Kong. Not great either. I've had better western breakfast in Shanghai, though you would think Hong Kong being the international hub it is, would have even higher standards for western foods. Eggs Benedict: 85HK. Unlimited coffee: 35HK. Using a restaurants own WiFi to post a 2 star review about them: Priceless.

I went with an Eggs Guacamole and a mango juice and I thought it was all pretty awesome overall. The food isn't overly expensive, you get fairly generous portions, and they definitely don't skimp on your free sides. The potatoes were a tad dry and I probably wouldn't go with them the next time around, but their grits aren't half bad. Hollandaise sauce is thick, yet runny, and the eggs were poached perfectly. The guacamole was offered in generous portions, and the only thing that I could possibly say they weren't generous with, in terms of portion size was my juice. That's fine though. I'll definitely be back to try a few other menu items.
