With indoor-outdoor seating on a relatively calm portion of Wong Nai Chung road, St. Germain is a relaxing spot for a drink. One very nice feature is that they still allow you to bring your dogs to the outside area, which Happy Valley Bar and Grill and The Jockey no longer do. So, St. Germain has supplanted these two spots for dog beers. I would be remiss if I failed to mention the excellent service from the bar staff and waitresses. They are friendly and efficient, checking in to make sure your glass does not sit empty, and they always offer bowls of water to the dogs. Although the beer is more expensive than its neighbors, St. Germain's Stella on draft is always amazingly ice cold. I'm not sure how they keep their beer colder than all the other bars, but it's incredibly welcome on hot summer evenings. The bar menu is also excellent for a snack or a cheese/charcuterie board to share. I am particularly fond of the Croque Monsieur -- oozing with cheesy goodness and crisped to perfection, and accompanied by greasy-in-good-way hand cut fries. One of these days I'll probably get around to trying the restaurant, but for now it's a great spot to enjoy a really cold beer with the pups.

I'm not sure if the signature double cheeseburger warrants the $139HKD price tag, but it's still tasty. Throw in a shake and some fries (better with truffle!), the meal gets closer to 200HKD+ with the service charge. Thank goodness they accept credit cards. The service has been a mix of great and subpar. Some days when the gentleman from Vancouver is working, the service is professional, fun, and efficient. Second, the order system is nicely designed. When you enter, you get a card which acts rather like a card in a University dining hall. There are several stations offering different foods, and the card is swiped for everything you order, which stores the value of that thing. At the end, you pay for what you ate. I enjoyed an antipasti (olives, sundried tomato, and anchovy) and a fresh bread (warmed and sliced to order), and my total came to $40. Not too bad for a late lunch/snack. Nice ambience as well. Locals treat their brunch as a long social affair, settling in for many hours. They have a paper checklist to order, and it is very easy to just keep going. There is a bottomless drinks option, with champagne flowing at most tables, but we skipped that component. Almost every dish feels refined here. Highlights include polished & personalized service, and for food: definitely get the fried stuffed bean curd, delicate dumplings, perfect Peking Duck and desserts (we tried them all!)
