We had hoped to come for lunch but oops, they don't open till 4pm. So that was fine, we came back and I'm so glad we did! I just had chips, and some homemade garlic mayo. Lots of things looked good on the menu but it was a hot day and the simplicity appealed. Everything is fried to order, so prepare to wait a little bit, but it was so worth the wait. The service was lovely and friendly, and the prices reasonable for the quality of chips. They take pride in knowing the variety of potatoes - and even put it up on the wall. The chips are fried in beef dripping - sorry vegetarians! Down south it's hard to find chips fried in dripping and oh my word it makes such a difference. The chips were the best I've had, fluffy and crisp and flavourful. I was also pleased that despite it being freshly prepared there were still little crunchy bits of chips as I like those too. The garlic mayo was a triumph, not too strong but still really flavourful. When you walk in you are greeting by some of the most friendliest staff with the cleanest take out joint I have ever visited. The menu board is expansive but I decided to stick with the cod (regular size) and chips w/ slat+vinegar. The portions were huge and I had to share with a friend. Since I was dining in I was offered a proper fork, but they have wooden takeaway forks should you choose to walk and eat. Seating is limited, probably about 6 stools facing the window. There are a variety of dipping sauces available but I just went with the standard salk+vinegar and everything was amazing!!
