Salt and Vinegar is a great wee chippy in Shawlands in the Glamorous Southside of Glasgow.
Shawlands has been lacking a decent chip shop (see my review of Blue Lagoon) pretty much forever so I really wanted to try this new place out as soon as I could.
It's got quite a decent sized sit in restaurant including a mezzanine level which serves the same food you'll get taking away but presented nicer than I've ever seen in a traditional chippy. The take out is pretty speedy although expect to wait for fish.
The chips themselves are really good and just how I like them. Well cooked, soft and not greasy at all. The fish was fresh, light and crispy and available in traditional batter and panko breadcrumbs but I went for batter. The battered sausage was one of the best I've had too, plenty of bite in it - some sausages can be a little limp...
For a fish supper and sausage supper it only set me back £9.10 and that was a good meal for two people - they don't skimp on chips that's for sure!
Looking forward to going back there soon and possibly trying out the restaurant. read more
