For me, visiting a McDonald's is never exactly a proud moment. It usually means I'm a) drunk, b)…read morehungover or c) suffering a momentary lapse of self control and ruining my most recent attempts to be healthy. We've all been there, I'm sure. Thing is, McDonald's actually is good for those things and if that's what you're after then there's no shame in that. This branch is especially handy in that it's open 24 hours. It also has a drive-thru attached, although I've never used that facility so I can't properly comment on it. In spite of being a small, drive-thru branch they still do all of the major offers (so if you get one of those vouchers for a big mac and fries for £1.99 then go ahead, they'll accept it) and they do all the standard UK menu items, including the specials as they come and go. Food-wise it's the same as any other McDonald's. They can alter your items if you have any particular requirements and they almost always have a few Big Macs and McChicken Sandwiches ready to go as you walk in. If not, they're still pretty quick. Less popular items, such as specials, salads and deli sandwiches take a bit longer, but I'm pretty sure that's true everywhere. You can expect really long queues around dinner time and long-ish queues at lunch time over the weekends. I've only ever once failed to get a seat, though. Plus, the staff are quick enough and clearing the queue and if there's a wait for fries (or if you've ordered something less popular) they'll tell you to go take a seat and will bring it to you when it's ready. The toilets are kept pretty clean and the staff do a decent job of clearing the tables whenever they get chance. The WiFi is free too, so I could even imagine people working here during quieter hours. One very important thing though - don't get the coffee. It's the worst I've ever tasted. Just don't.

At the…read moretime the chain was a fairly well kept secret in Scotland, so we felt an immense level of self satisfaction as we picked at the bones. Having exploded in number since then, Nando's is now popular and seems to be a current "in" thing to the extent that tedious people are leaving comments such as "NANDO'S! YUUUUMMMEEE!" on networking sites, between the comments about how much they love their iPhone and/or X Factor. Anyway, despite now being ubiqutous, Nando's is still fantastic, even if it does sometimes feel like a fast food joint with restaurant prices. It feels a bit scabby to go up to the counter to pay rather than have table service, but when you see your chicken carcass blackening away in the open plan kitchen, before arriving drenched in the hottest sauce they've got, you won't care. It's phenomenal, and a side of paprika fries won't do any harm either. Not a venue for a romantic date, but as a place to gorge it's unbeatable.

I knows it's Burns day tonight but our tummys at work were rumbling for some Nando's chicken. So…read morethe haggis, neeps and tatties were aff the menu today for me. I have mixed feelings over this Nando's. I remember when it arrived years ago and was the first Nandos in Glasgow. I had been first introduced to Nando's years before when I was down in London and we were told we just had to try and I really enjoyed it. I used to go here quite a lot with my former work friends for a girly night after work. As we usually went in the evening we always found we were in the minority of caucasian folks and I always wondered why. We found out that this Nando's caters for Muslims so therefore the meat is Halal. Ahhh, all explained! It was always very very busy too but we could always get a seat no problem. As of late I have been going with work folks for lunch, with a less busy, noisy atmosphere. If you haven't been before, you are seated with a menu, check the number of your table and then head up the tills, a bit like a posh McDonalds. Give them your number then order what dish you would like. The restaurant is chicken based but does have beef and veggie dishes on there too. I tend to order a single ckicken breast fillet either in a pitta or wrap with extra cheese and pineapple. I unfortunately cannae handle the heat of the spice so tend to stay with the lemon and herb or mango and lime. You can also have 1 or 2 sides like chips, coleslaw, spicy rice or corn on the cob etc. I do also love to get a cheeky wee order of grilled halloumi cheese. Yuuuuuuum! I have found that they don't always have it when I go in, so I get very excited if they have it, as it's super delicious. Since I have been going back to this branch I have always found something wrong, maybe I'm nitpicking but there's never any forks and you have to wait to get some, staff are a bit slow, in the sense we had to wait a while to get a seat on my last visit, there was loads of staff behind the counter but none of the shop floor. I think they do quite a lot of take away orders at lunch time. Not sure how it works but they were getting a few phone calls while I was up ordering my meal. Och, also the ice machine was broken. Meh! I do like the ickle crushed up ice. Apart from the niggles I do like Nando's. I also have a Nando's Card which is only available in Scotland. You collect your chillies online, through your registered card and then you can get free food. It's a bit better than the loyalty stamp card they used to have as you could only redeem for a 1/2 or full chicken, now you can redeem for appeteasers, wraps, pittas and burgers and also the 1/2 and full chicken. It's the same Nando's decor but I do like it. If you've not been I would advise you go and try. It's much much better than a KFC and not too expensive. Can't wait to start redeeming my chillies to get my free food.

Frozen burgers with frozen chips, no new discovery's or ground breaking special sauce or food sold here, only the same old rubbish that glasgow had in take aways 30 years ago. Staff are friendly and helpful…read more The changes that are needed though are as most other places that sell kebabs in and around Glasgow the same changes that need to be made are for the chilli sauce to be changed and for it not to be made with Ketchup, mango chutney, sugar or Yogurt. The way it should be made is with mainly fresh ingrediants, infact heres a recipe that is used by the best Kebab shops in England. 2 onions - half white cabbage - 2 tins chopped tomatoes - tomato puree - cumin - salt - hot chilli powder. Dice the onions then chop the cabbage into small cubes place this in a bowl add 1 cup of cold water then using a hand blender - blend the cabbage and onion together. Next add sprinkle of salt and the both tins of tomatoes add 1 teaspoon of cumin - chilli powder or chilli flakes to taste - tomato puree if required - blend all these together add more water if required. Not sure if they use Tomato Ketchup, Mango Chutney, sugar or yoghurt but none of that should ever be used when making Kebab chilli sauce. The Kebab salad was as I said pretty good but the same as most other kebab shops in there area they miss out many important salads, so I would recommend is, not just for this place but for all other Kebab shops in the area is to have what kebab shops have in other parts of the UK which is a big bowl of cucumber, big bowl of Pickled red cabbage (marinated in white vinegar, salt & pepper for atleast 1 week), big bowl of pickled white cabbage (marinated in white vinegar, salt & pepper for atleast 1 week), big bowl of tomatoes, bowl of Lemons, big bowl of lettuce, big bowl of onion, big bowl of cucumber. The good thing is that there are no actual changes to the food you already make ie you can still make the chilli sauce how you do and still have the same salad you already do, so regular customers can still get what they are use to, the only difference is your regular customers and new customers will have more choice, ie they will have another type of chilli sauce on offer (which is the type of chilli sauce thats used by kebab shops in England) and you will have other salads available they can have with their kebabs. I really hope the owner can add these things

I didn't know what state the trains were in, with all the lines down with the wind, so I was going to head for a bus. I had just missed one so instead of waiting a half hour in the wind and rain Micky Ds was the next best option. It was good in the sense it was quiet compared to the Saturday craziness of neds and trendys swinging from the fixings. So I got served straight away, so it started off well. Once the ordering process began it just went down a bit wet slippery slope of Micky Ds milkshake. I started to order and was about get charged £3.17 when I realised it was just the same as a Happy Meal, so I had to say to the man serving. So he didn't look too pleased and gave a big huff and voided the order. So ok I hadn't realised, my fault, I was tired, but to be honest I am the customer. Accidently though I have done this before and the member of staff did picked up on it and suggested the Happy Meal, which was very good of them. Anyway I handed over my £2 and then he slammed the till drawer shut and walked away. I was like ehhh........ my change??!! My meal?? Eh...what...food??! Anyway another young member of staff came up and she gave me my meal, so he had passed over my order to someone else and didn't tell me what was happening. I said to the young girl I didn't get my change, which she was shocked by, I said if you could take it out the till and just put it in the charity box instead. I doubt it happened to be honest. Oh I forget to mention that the man serving was a manager. The service was appauling. I know my change wasn't much but to me it's the principle of the situation. To them it's another 1p in their "big money making" pocket instead of mine or a charity's and I'd rather it went to the latter. I managed to find a half decent seat as most of the tables were dirty, mines was still grubby and had to give it a bit of a clean. You would think with it not been that busy that clearing the tables would have been taking care of. At the end of the day I did choose McDonalds out of all the nice restaurants in Glasgow I could have went to. It was for quickness, cheapness and convience which it did provide me. Well that's were it's earned it's one star.
