I was sick once in here from a greasy fish and chips (a one off, to be fair) which wasn't dealt with very well by the management which ended my weekly visit to the place, a weekly visit which lasted some years. In recent years, the prices have also escalated way beyond that of other chip shops. It's around £5.30 for a fish supper, and although it is absolutely immense, the portions don't justify the price. Hilarious to note, that when you get chips to take away (which cost around £1.40 or £1.50 or something ridiculous) they actually spray on the vinegar which can only be designed to save pennies on vinegar every day. I don't know. I like the place, it's great, with good ice cream as well I should note, but I can't help but feel that the management are greedy. There used to be 3 or 4 Onesti's in Motherwell, now there are only 2, with this one being the most popular due largely to its location. Thoroughly great food, no arguments, but.. *sigh* I've said enough. They also do home deliveries which get to you in above average condition.

I feel obliged to offer my opinion on this place, as a keen consumer of the ole fish and chips…read morecombo. There's only a few chip shops in Motherwell which, naturally, I have reviewed. Chiefly Onesti's and The Rex. Time to complete the epic saga. Marcantonio's or 'Marr-keys' rests beside Wok Express near Motherwell Library on Hamilton Road, in shouting distance of a few pubs which gets them alot of business. They thrive on the squad of schoolies from Dalziel High School down the road though at lunch time. I dare anyone to try get served in here at lunchtime. The food is great, and not as expensive as other chip shops, with a constant wee production line waiting for you in the hot plate. Sometimes the chips aren't piping hot, but that's about all I have to say as a negative point. They also do a half a fish supper type contraption which is becoming more and more common which I won't argue with one bit. The ice cream, as has been mentioned, is also excellent. There's also something slightly nice about the wee box they give you your food in with Marcantonio's on it, as if they take a wee bit more pride in their business than other places. No reason why they shouldn't either.

There is also a chip shop and a bit to sit in. Unfortunately, I have never sampled either of those so this review is all about ice cream. I'm sure I should dazzle you with some facts about how long they have been established and all the awards they have won. But I can't. See when I go to Equi's all I'm thinking about is which flavour is going in ma belly. With two cabinets to chose from it takes me quite a while picking which of the 20 odd flavours to eat. It's why I take smudge, people are far more forgiving of indecision from a small person. But it's rather unfair seeing as she decides in nano-seconds and never suffers from selectors-doubt. This visit I chose a chocolate dipped cone of cherry vanilla ice-cream, g got a chocolate dipped cone of mango ice-cream and smudge a tub of chocolate ice-cream. It was a very quiet journey home with with everybody concentrating far too hard on their ice creams to risk melt related wastage on conversation. Equi's ice cream is creamy, soft and the flavours are always perfect. Punchy, strong and guaranteeing that I'll be back soon.

Equi's has been there for as long as I can remember, and has both an ice cream parlour section to the store, and a wee cafe/restaurant section which has a basic chip shop/traditional cafe type menu! I thought my life was over. I then remebered the best meal i had ever had. A kebab from "Toni's". I decided to splash the cash and buy one. A true premium meal from a premium restraunt. As i was sitting down ready to tuck into my meal, i heard an absolutely discusting sound. It sounded inhumane. It was coming from the kitchen. My eyes darted up and i saw it. Luca was running around the kitchen, smering his feces on everything. His face, the walls and the food. I look down and see that my kebab was not a kebab. It was a jobby made to look like a kebab. This ruined my experience of Toni's. Will not be returning unless you charge less for Luca's jobby.

The chips are really nice, not greasy as some chippies can be. They also sell kebabs and pakora etc. I went for kebab meat and chips which at 6:15PM and not drunk can be a risk! But the kebab was really good (I had smelt it before so this wasn't as big a gamble as it could have been) and at £3.60 the portion filled me up for the rest of the night. You can also buy cigarettes and chocolate... oh how the health of the West of Scotland is at the mercy of such establishments!
