The wine bar is comfortable and cool. The event took place in The Loft, which is a small venue, but with a great view of the stage. Doors opened at least an hour and 1/2 before show time. I do recommend arriving early to order food and drinks - service was very attentive before the show. It gets a little difficult to order food as the show is taking place. You can still flag your server, but it may take a longer wait time as the kitchen gets busier. Depending on your ticket, you may be sharing tables with other people, which I was okay with. I went with a friend to the show and ended up sharing the table with two other people. That can be off-putting for some people, so I wanted to make a note of that! Seating is several long tables or small tables stacked up against together. However, the food was delicious! We ordered a charcuterie board to share, margarita flatbread, and truffle mushroom flatbread. And of course, we had to pair our meal with wine! We ordered a delicious Riesling each. The first issue was that the elevator was broken which presented a huge issue of accessibility for those in need as the show was upstairs (a winding staircase). Assistance was offered however most folks with accessibility issues, functional independence is a priority for them. Secondly, City Winery why would you have seats, including Premier and General Admission seating, positioned behind the stage/screen when the visuals are clearly an important part of the production? I selected my seat without realizing that a significant portion of the show would involve visual content. From my seat, I was essentially sitting behind the back of the screen, and I could only see 2 of the 4 hosts. I understand that every seat in a venue can't provide the exact same view, but seats with a significantly obstructed view of the actual production should be clearly identified before purchase. If the visual component is integral to the show, sightlines should absolutely be taken into consideration when configuring the seating. Unfortunately, I ultimately left early because I wasn't able to fully experience the show from my seat. This isn't about expecting perfection. It's about transparency, thoughtful seating configuration, and giving customers the experience they're paying for. City Winery, please do better. At minimum, clearly identify obstructed view seats so customers can make an informed decision before purchasing.

It was a fabulous setup with beautiful strung up lights lining the ceiling. While we waited to be seated we were given glasses of sparkling white wine. Our waiter told us that the space for the JBF LTD was donated by one of the JBF board members. Very cool. Eventually, we were seated at our communal table and were given a green garden gazpacho to start. It had pickled green strawberries which were surprisingly very good. Usually you throw the green strawberries out of the bunch and only eat the red ripe ones. David Kinch opened our eyes to eating this unripened fruit and I will never look at green strawberries the same! The soup was paired with vegetable beignets and a crispy vegetable chip - both were just perfect. Our next course was my girlfriend's favorite - an abalone salad nestled on a bed of romaine lettuce coupled with grilled cucumbers and an avocado-nori sauce. I loved the avocado-nori sauce with the tender abalone. The entree came next and was a succulent porcelet with the best crispy pork skins! It was served communal style which was kind of cool. There were two cuts of meat - belly and tenderloin. My favorite part was the skins. Dessert was a lovely popover with powdered sugar. Sweet, simple, and delicious. We had different wine pairings with each course and were semi-tipsy by then end of the meal. The best treat of the night was when David Kinch and John Paul Carmona came out and greeted the diners. I love and am always looking for good Tapas, too often though "Tapas" is simply an excuse to charge too much for small dishes. Lolas sets a new low in my experience. The food was utterly inauthentic, poorly executed and badly delivered. Looking around the dimly lit, supposedly romantic 'Spanish - cassa' motif room, there were numerous bigger groups obviously celebrating special occasions. One wants to like the place, it looks warm, boisterous and inviting from the street. Alas - service is poor, inattentive, food less than mediocre and really overpriced for what it is. Patatas bravas for example is described on the menu as "Hot, hot fried potatoes with spicy tomato sauce" In reality it tasted like re-heated congealed home fries you would find at any diner, smothered in bland no-name ketchup. This for a price I can't remember exactly but somewhere in the $12 range! The waiter recommended a 'special' that had some kind of charizo sausage in an exotic sauce - Holy Don Quixote! you could have used the little nuggets as golf balls. They were hard, tasteless and worse - the sauce was watery, salty and instantly regrettable! Shrimps (not many for $13+) in a thin green slime sauce. They had clearly been previously frozen, or at least tasted old. Unlike other much more authentic latin spots in town you can't BYOB here - this is where the really get you ! Sangria was made from obviously cheap over-sweet plonk, not much fruit - again - big price for what it was. Overall left feeling ripped off, pissed off and disappointed. read more

The food here is delicious and the drinks are tasty. By far the best part is the atmosphere! This is a perfect date spot for both married couples and singles alike. Coming from Manhattan where Tapas restaurants are a dime a dozen, my husband and I love the food and vibe here. It is definitely a nice get away in Hoboken- you almost feel like you are on vacation. Sometimes it is crowded, other nights it is quite empty but the food is always consistently enjoyable. Definitely worth a shot if you are looking for something a bit different and outside of the box. Additionally, the uptown location is a nice change of pace from the path traffic. They also validate parking at the lot across the street! I've never hosted a private party in the bottom floor of the restaurant but it definitely looks like it would be a cute option for a daytime baby shower or something of the sort. read more

Bin 14

There was a bit of overcast and a potential for some drizzling rain, so the host placed us at one of their picnic tables under a canopy. The restaurant was not super crowded, so we were able to sprawl out across one of the larger tables. Though we would normally have had prime seats for people watching, there was a lot of construction going on in the area, so there were fences and barricades making up the bulk of our views. Regardless, the rain held off, and we enjoyed a nice meal with friendly and efficient service. While Bin 14 had always had some good cocktails, their wine list was their true star. I had often discovered some real winners from their list. Before I decided on my selection for that particular evening, I went back to my last review and saw my raving feedback of the 2019 Sean Minor Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa. Shockingly, they still had that same vintage on the menu, two years later! Well, I immediately requested a glass of that, and the server nodded with a smile as if she knew I had found their secret gem. The wine was just as delicious as I remembered; it was well-balanced, fruity yet woodsy, robustly bodied yet easy to drink like a Pinot Noir. It was simply divine! My friend also asked me for a red wine recommendation, and I told her to try the 2021 Ratti Barbera D' Asti from Piedmont, Italy, as Barberas tend to be versatile and largely approachable as a varietal. She took the suggestion and was shocked at how much she enjoyed the wine. In terms of the food, I was very tempted to order a pasta dish, but decided to get two appetizers to enjoy in place of a singular main course. Their House Made Meatballs were good, but did not seem like they were all beef from a flavor perspective. Meaning, it seemed like there might have been pork or veal included, but I could not say for sure, as it was not noted on the menu. Either way, they were fine, but not amazing. I did like the marinara sauce that the two large balls were in, but the included pecorino cheese was way too strong and funky. I would have preferred milder ricotta or parmesan instead. The Mexican Street Corn dish, however, was fantastic! The kernels had been taken off of the husk and tossed with feta, cilantro, pickled red onion, and lime. Some of the cheese had remained in chunks, while other pieces melted into the corn. There were a few perfectly grilled shrimp placed on top of the delicious kernels. My friend had ordered the Grilled Hangar Steak Frites with a whiskey cream sauce, salted French fries, and crisp arugula. She, unfortunately, said it was just mediocre. It was nice to go back to Bin 14 after so long, and I was ecstatic to see that my favorite wine was still on their list. It took a while to get the attention of the bar staff, but, once they finally came to take our order, they apologized and said it was due to it being a busy opening event, which we understood. The Brussels sprouts with bacon were good, not too salty, not bland. The corn creme brûlée was amazing! super smooth with a perfect texture. We ordered oysters and they were fresh. The lava cake was okay. Overall, I really enjoyed both the food and the vibe. Service was great, very accommodating

I did really enjoy the Banana Bread Pudding and the Potato Au Gratin... but the French Onion Soup and Porterhouse Steak we ordered was flavorless... This place is extremely overrated.. definitely not worth the hype. You need a membership to dine…read morehere, and occasionally they open it to the public. The photos and videos that you see on instagram do not match what you see when you arrive. The restaurant itself feels gimmicky and thrown together. Sure, the holograph on the wall was interesting to look at for 30 seconds, but that's about it. Our server, Nicole, didn't seem like she wanted to be there. The drink selection (especially if you're a rum drinker) was limited. The rum cocktail that I settled on was awful. The manager/owner? stopped by our table and greeted my husband, shook his hand but completely ignored me.... Very strange. Not a big deal for us, but if you are not used to paying $10 for water, an included gratuity or an additional "service fee", get used to it while dining here. The reason for the three stars you ask? While the menu is limited, everything we tried tasted good. The macaroni and cheese balls were my favorite and the mussels, although just a few, were tasty. Besides our assigned server Nicole and the manager, the staff at Casa De Lobo that we interacted with seemed generally friendly and happy to serve us. The pizzeria that you enter into had delish slices (we grabbed a few when leaving) and it was a cool "speakeasy entrance". I came, I saw, I won't be back.

mixed feelings about this place. i think it's a one and done for me, but i still enjoyed my time…read more first off, you need to make reservations and put down $25 on a CC, which you get taken off your bill. but there is an automatic 20% tip and $4 to $5 venue fee (WTF?). great service. sparkeling water is $10. small menu, not many options for veggie eaters. my friend and i split the cauliflower and although they looked weird, we loved these. the mussels in sauce were salty, but the broth were good. i think the amount of mussels is very small compared to the price. it comes with 2 pieces of bread, my fat ass requested more because the broth was pretty good. i didnt have a drink, but my friend loved her tequila drinks. dark decor, plenty of photo apps, big square bar and a lot of intimate tables. they do burlesque shows sat night, reservations highly suggested.
