Here is my story with Logan Mechanical recently. I had an issue with my AC and I requested Logan Mechanical to check out the issue. They gave me two options: $885 for a quick fix and $5000 for a complete replacement. I took $885 option as my budget allowed. Their fix only worked for two days and stopped working on the third day. It took me several phone calls to finally be able to arrange a second visit. On the second visit, Tristan told me that there is another issue with the AC and it will cost me another $5000 to fix the issue. In the end I spent $885 and my AC is still not working. I made several attempts to ask for at least a partial refund so that I can get budget together to find a better AC repair company. But Logan Mechanical told me that the service is complete and no refund is due. Like many of you, I don't know that much of AC technologies. So I cannot judge Logan Mechanical on their technical expertise. But as a customer, I am very disappointed about the fact that I spent $885 and my AC is still not working. read more

I had a terrific experience with Tristan and his team when I replaced my forced air oil furnace and associated A/C with a heat pump last this summer. Logan's price was below the large companies and right around a couple of smaller ones. He and his crew did the work fast, on time, and well. I particularly enjoyed talking to Tristan on a couple of occasions about his business and the details of our project. He is a delightful, skilled professional. Frankly, I don't know why we stayed with the older system so long. The heat pump is far better for the environment, and it heats the house much more evenly and quietly. Was hoping to have a good experience with this company since the technician who showed up was very professional but everything fell apart after that point. I needed a diagnostic on my HVAC system and was told that I would receive a written report with recommendations within one to two business days. Fast forward to five days later and I heard nothing. Called to follow up and was told by the front desk that they would check with their lead technician. Again I heard nothing back and followed up the next day only to be told that they sent me an email (to an incorrect email address). The lack of communication here is striking. Tristan seems honest, hard working, and knowledgeable about HVAC systems, although I'm nervous to give him a five star review just yet because HVAC is a foreign language to me and I have had bad experiences with them not doing well in the long-term. He showed up on time and gave me call with a realistic time of arrival 20 minutes out. He was polite and respectful. He is not inexpensive, although not horrendous. read more

We heard a banging noise from inside our house when we turned on the AC and asked for a diagnostic from Logan Mechanical. The receptionist was really kind and helpful, and our technician Zach was very thorough in investigating both our unit on the roof and the inside fan coil system. Although we couldn't find what was wrong and couldn't replicate the sound, we appreciated how Zach investigated everything and explained what he was doing. We highly recommend Logan Mechanical! I would highly recommend getting a quote from Logan Mechanical for any HVAC issues. I needed my HVAC replaced and Tristan was the only one who opened up the inside unit to check and see if it would be okay not to replace (and then I would only have to replace the outside unit). The inside unit was in great condition and I only had to replace the outside unit saving me thousands of dollars. In terms of customer service, professionalism, and general kindness--Tristan and his team are unmatched. They were on time, were respectful of my house, and walked me through what they were doing. Tristan was ALWAYS available for a call and helped me and talked me through a bunch of things. I asked a thousand questions and Tristan was always kind enough to answer them with his honest opinions (and always asked if I had anymore). He also gave me cost-effective strategies to save money. During the HVAC replacement, there was a separate issue that came up with an electrical component that prevented the new system from running. Tristan immediately ran to Home Depot to get the equipment to fix the electrical component and made sure my new unit was running properly before he and his team left. Overall, I would highly recommend at least reaching out to Tristan and his team before getting any HVAC issues addressed. He will give you an honest opinion and will try to save you money if he can. read more

Called to confirm my appointment only to find out that no one was ever going to come, my information wasn't in their system and they don't actually provide the service I was expecting and had explained I needed. The woman who explained this was very polite and professional. But whoever scheduled my appointment and took my information (from the same phone number) wasted my afternoon and now I still need my AC serviced. Jay dove right in and figured out the issue with our air conditioner pretty quickly. What made the difference was that he stayed and took the extra time to make sure that it was working perfectly. I never felt like he rushed and stayed longer than I would've expected anyone to - really above and beyond! technician had to be talked through the assessment on the phone by his boss. then they took four days to follow up with an estimate. logan said the boiler needed a new circulation pump and to replace a breaker on the panel. they billed $400 for a $150 pump and six hours labor for a two hour job. Over $1000 for a $500 repair. I had another company fix it. they found a burnt wire and replaced it. the circulator pump is working fine, the breaker is working fine. Logan's overpriced fixes would not have solved the problem Incompetence or dishonesty??? gouging or bumbling? ? either way I will never deal with logan again, no way. read more

I would just like to say, thank you to Tristan. Before I called Tristan I reached out to three other companies to come and give me their honest opinions​ on what's​ wrong​ with​ my​ furnace. Proir to calling these companies, my furance wasn't running properly. The house was heating up, but then it would shut off​ and the fan would start blowing. So, I started calling and setting up service calls. The first company stop by and took a look at my furnace​ and said "I'm sorry I thought this was a natural gas furnace" "We don't services these". The second company stopped by and said "Oh it's your heat exchanger, it's probably cracked" "I can smell something burning". Then he proceeded to quote me a ridiculous price​, ​sighting I need a complete system overhaul​. The third company stops by and says "Oh I think it's the heat exchanger, it's probably cracked" "I know the last guy who looked at your system and he know his stuff, so I'm going with what he said". Let me guess! 'I need a whole new system'. Smh. Now, I want everyone to keep in mind that neither guy actually check to see what's really wrong with my unit. NONE OF THEM!! But, I was saved by Tristan! He came out to my home and got right down to business. He did a comprehensive evaluation of my unit and found that it was NOT a cracked heat exchanger​ after all. Tristan found that my gas regulator wasn't calibrated properly from the initial​ install 17 freaking years ago!! So, Tristan calibrated the unit, which was burning my propane at an alarming rate. Bingo! This is why we were using up so much propane in a short period of time. So, then I asked him 'maybe we should check the other unit just in case it was setup the same way. Tristan checked and guess what?! Same result...buring way to much gas. Tristan was able to accomplish all of this because he came into my home with an honest heart and intention to find and fix my problem. Greg from Logan Mechanical came out to take a look why my coils were freezing on a 20 year old unit, and let me tell you this is the kind of tech you want on a repair call. Greg is knowledge, patient, and kind. I must've asked him hundreds of questions and he answered all of them throughly. In fact he took the time to explain what my issue was, options to fix it, and options to prevent it from happening in the future. He performed a potential fix for the leak in my system, recharged my refrigerant, and set me up with a quote to replace my system. Here is the kicker, I asked for a quote on my own and he didn't default to the upsell option. He gave me the pros and cons of each option and ultimately helped me make a decision that was right for me. From a price perspective, I did not feel like the service was expensive all things considered. I can't speak enough of how great this experience was. I hate to leave a negative review, especially on a black owned business in my area. However, I want to share the unprofessional experience we had with this company. In late October, we contacted the company because we were having issues with the heat pump in our home. Sam in the office was helpful and professional and quickly scheduled for a tech to come out. While he ended up arriving late to the scheduled consultation, I appreciated that he called before hand and kept me in the loop. While at the home, he quickly diagnosed the issue and removed a part that he advised was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced. He stated he would order the part and contact us when it arrived. We paid the $100 service charge that was due. Fast forward several weeks after mild weather and we realized we never received a call. This started a month long back and forth ordeal trying to get in touch with the office and technician, trying to follow up on the part that was supposed to be ordered. We left messages at the office but sometimes the phone just went unanswered. My husband was finally advised by Sam that we were "high priority" with the owner Tristan and that he would get back to us ASAP. He did not. We called several times again and finally were sent a quote for the part and 2 additional labor charges. We called back asking for clarification as to what the labor charges were, no response again. We were advised that the owner Tristan would speak to us and proceeded to schedule a call with me, again this still did not happen. After calling back the following day, Sam said Tristan called. Obviously this was untrue, what professional would call a client and not leave a voicemail, it was obvious he did not call. She finally gave me his direct number which I called and finally got a hold of him. After explaining my concerns with not only how we have been mistreated and disregarded for several weeks, also questioning the invoice and the additional labor costs. He immediately got defensive and combative and said, "your husband said he is an electrician, I thought he would replace it". As if my husband's profession as an electrician has anything to do with your company's professionalism and business practices and our request to have work completed. Again, like others had commented, this company has a serious issue with being professional and following through on their commitments. My HVAC system wasn't turning on and I went with Logan because they offered a free diagnostic compared to others that charge $95. The tech came out and saw that my Airbnb guest simply turned off the power to the unit on a side switch, so nothing was wrong, but then charged me $125 for 10 seconds of "labor." Admittedly I should have done a full review of the system myself first, but my other lesson is I should have gone with one of the companies that just charges an honest fee for a diagnostic. read more

I bought my first condo. It have everything on my checklist except for central AC/heat (instead there were 3 through-wall units). I thought I could live with it but I quickly learned that my bathroom did not receive heat or air (ugh). I began looking for contractors shortly after moving in and ended up getting six quotes. Logan Mechanical was by far the most reasonably priced. I would say I am a anxious/a client that is needing of hand holding and Tristan/Logan Mechanical were super patient with me. I had a lot of questions about brands, installation, and ducting. They answered them all for me over multiple phone calls even before I signed any contract or officially selected them to install my HVAC unit. Installation was super easy. They finished early, patched and painted the walls (if I had not seen the hole in the wall before they patched I would not have known it was ever there). I had just 2 yelp reviews to base my decision on when looking for someone to diagnose my HVAC issues. I am incredibly grateful that I went with Tristan at Logan Mechanical. He was on time, courteous, knows his craft, and incredibly transparent with everything he does. In fact, as a female I typically have my guard up and might be overly scrupulous of getting overcharged. Tristan came in for all services well below what I anticipated paying, and exceeded my expectations. He has his master HVAC mechanic certification and was able to pinpoint an issue caused by shotty contractor work that both other HVAC techs in the building, and even my inspector missed. A pipe never got installed and was causing warping on my wooden floor. Because of him I was finally able to get to the root cause, fix the issue, and prevent further structural damage. Highly recommend Tristan for anyone who wants an honest and transparent fix for their HVAC unit. read more

If you need HVAC work, this is the company to use. I called Logan Mechanical to fix a problem, similar to most homes in this area. The unbearable seasonal extreme temperatures on the second floor of the home, if there is only one HVAC unit to power the home. After obtaining quotes from four different companies I chose Logan Mechanical because I felt they had the best plan to solve my problem. They did not try to sell me on the most expensive option, rather I was educated on the pros and cons. Logan Mechanical was cheaper than the competitors. I chose to overhaul my HVAC system and added a mini-split in the attic to help control upstairs. Normally this would be a week-long project. Tristian and his crew took a day and a half to complete the work. They had to open the ceiling drywall and it was promptly replaced and it looks perfect. There was minimal disruption and the crew was covered appropriately with facemask and practiced social distancing. They are honest, prompt, hardworking, and pay attention to details. You have to be patient to get on his schedule because he spends the time with his customers to explain everything and makes sure his install or repair work is quality. Not only did his solution fix the problem but it also lowered my energy bills. I would recommend to anyone and use them again. read more

My AC wasn't pumping out cold air and the fan ran all night without actually cooling the condo. I messaged Tristan through Yelp and he came out the next day to provide me with a free estimate. The issue was a leak in the suction line that caused all the refrigerant to leak and that's why the unit wasn't cooling. I had experienced the same issue 2 years back but the guy that came out to fix it at that time had just filled up the refrigerant without actually checking for leaks. Tristan ran a full nitrogen test, fixed the leak and refilled refrigerant. Ben came out a few days later to check that the system was operating as it should (they wanted to doublecheck my compressor). Tristan steered me clear of installing a Nest thermostat for a natural gas Burnham boiler heater. Said he's had extensive experience using Nests for this purpose and over time the power of the Nest signal sent to the boiler either changes or degrades, rendering the overall system ineffective. Nests are better suited for central air systems vice boilers. Recommended going with a Honeywell thermostat with a wifi / remote monitoring module to achieve our purpose of monitoring the temperature of our home remotely. Very professional and very knowledgeable. Will use him if we decide to install a Honeywell thermostat. read more

My AC recently stopped working. I contacted several companies through Yelp and Logan Mechanical was one of the companies that messaged me quickly. On short noticed a technician arrived at my home to diagnose the problem. The technician was very thorough and recommended a coil cleaning and replaced the capacitor. After that was completed, unfortunately my AC still did not work due to the bad compressor but Logan Mechanical did not charge me for the coil cleaning labor and parts, it just a small service fee which was generous of them. The next morning Logan Mechanical sent me a fairly priced quote on cost to replace the compressor but that email went to my spam folder and I didn't see it until I had already scheduled service to replace the compressor with another company. For anyone having AC problems I recommend Logan Mechanical to be prompt in diagnosing problems, having skilled technicians with fair quotes. read more

I used Logan Mechanical to diagnose and repair an old American Systems boiler that I could not light the pilot. They sent a technician Gregg out to take a look. I described the problem and he checked out the system. This resulted in a diagnosis of a faulty gas valve. A quote was supplied and we agreed to schedule the repair. On the next day, Jason was dispatched to replace the gas valve. Both technicians were prompt with their arrival times. They were very respectful and personable, willing to listen to my description of what had transpired. What I admired the most about them is that they did not attempt to sell me a new, more modern, heating system unlike some of their peers from other well known vendors had previously done. During the installation, a mounting bracket broke, making the job more of a challenge to complete. Jason offered up some possible solutions to move forward, but I/we decided on the more permanent solution of welding the bracket back in place. This resulted in a delay of about an hour and a half while he took the parts to be welded together. Upon returning, the installation was completed lickity split. Back in the business of making heat! My AC condenser needed a new capacitor and freon, which is a pretty simple fix. The company was responsive and showed up on time. The capacitor was installed and my AC was working again, which was great bc I have kids and the house was really hot. The team then explained that if I wanted to keep the capacitor that was installed and refill the freon then I needed to also pay for several other preventative maintenance services, which would have brought the charge from several hundred dollars to over a thousand. I explained that I only wanted to get the ac working again. They then threatened that if I didn't pay for everything they would uninstall the part and render my AC useless again. I was blown away that they tried to extort me and would spend extra time uninstalling a part to strong arm me. I did not agree to the additional services, so they uninstalled the part and left the unit and power disconnected with parts strewn around. I ended up going with a different company that just refilled the freon and replaced the capacitor, which fixed all my issues. Logan Mechanical pulled the biggest scumbag move I've ever experienced and they should never be trusted. It's also worth mentioning that they charge a $75 service charge to provide an estimate and most of their competitors do not. read more
