Come here all too often... Drinks are consistent and food is delicious! Great vibe and although the line can get long, if you order on the app you don't have to wait. Their eggs and toast plate is my favorite (my kids live for the GF banana muffins - they are phenomenal!). read more

Lots of options here to wet your whistle. It was nice seeing their array of iced teas on the menu. There's plenty of outdoor seating and it's dog-friendly. BF got a latte and I got some iced tea, both deliciously satisfying. Parking here is fairly easy, too. read more

Everyone raves about Lofty Coffee...moms, Earl Warren middle schoolers, tourists, but I wasn't that impressed. Maybe it was a bad day (the couple times I've been -- so bad DAYS), but both my husband & I have yet to have a great coffee there. The lattes aren't bad, they are just fine -- just as good as Peets or Starbucks or any chain in the neighborhood. But more expensive because they make a bigger deal out of the coffee-getting experience. The baked goods, not so great. Maybe it's their breakfasts that are so amazing or maybe I just don't get it. But the truth is, with Claire's just down the street and so many other comparable places for coffee and snack on Cedros, I don't think I'll be back for another try. read more

This place is very cute and welcoming. I had an Aztec mocha that absolutely blew all the fake "Mexican mochas" one usually finds out of the water. Instead of being made from a sugary powder, they added chocolate and cayenne to the espresso and it was DELICIOUS. And very spicy. I also had a peach and macadamia croissant that was amazing. Their pastries are next-level. Highly recommend! The only real downside I noticed was parking--they have a small lot I think but it's cramped and street parking can be limited depending on the time of day. There was a long line of at least ten people when I arrived, but I still had my coffee and pastry within 10 minutes or so. read more

Best spot in town! Great coffee and the food is always consistent. We go daily (almost).

The most perfect poached egg in town! I dig the friendly service, the perfect quiet location and outdoor seating with dog friendly patio, and cute designs on my salted caramel latte. I come here weekly and its a good experience. Not great to work from here due to limited seating but good for just a meal and go! read more

Interesting place. Great to break away from the chain store coffee shops that serve crap coffee. The coffee I had here was pretty good (albeit over priced). The space is used pretty well and its a nice creative design. The staff are mostly ditzy white people, but they eventually get your order right. read more

Love both of their locations and visit often to do some work on the patio. The salted caramel latte is really good and they even have some gluten free options on the menu. Staff is always super nice and they have treats for my dog which is worth a star by itself! read more

Walked in around 45 minutes before closing. I noticed the employees just walking around laughing , talking and cleaning up, putting chairs away, most chairs were already stacked up. I thought it was weird because they still had 45 minutes until closing. We couldn't even sit down because they had already stacked the chairs and the couple that was sitting down were looking around as if they should get up, feeling rushed. We approached the counter to a guy counting money, he didn't look up, didn't say hi. But a very nice lady from far away behind the counter cleaning some dishes said hi and asked if we need help, then he said the same but with no smile, this odd look as if we walked in 5 minutes before closing. Then the lady said to just let them know when we are ready to order.....we ordered just one iced salted caramel latte and it was delicious! Kinda pricey but that's just because of the area. Other than the really awkward experience with the guy behind the counter, (with the big beard and pretty eyes lol) who never said hi, welcome, or smiled from the time we walked in until we paid, it was a good coffee experience. Just wish we could've been able to sit down and actually enjoy the cute little place. read more

I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. I got their Turkish coffee, toast, two poached eggs and 2 sides. They charge $2.00 per side dish which is either 3 slices of tomatoes, or half of an avocado or other kind of tiny and expensive sides ( nothing more) My total came up to $ 17.00!!! The part that kind of annoyed me was that they do not allow their costumers use their power outlets to charge their devices. Basically, kicking you out of their "coffee shop" in a passive way after taking your money. I don't think this is a good customer service at all. I'm paying $17.00 for an average breakfast, and I don't get to stay there for a couple of hours? Nope! Not going back. read more

I had never been here before and showed up Friday afternoon as they were closing and cleaning tables. The employees were very nice and asked us what we wanted (even though they were closed). We had told them we just wanted an iced coffee and they gladly helped us even giving us waters as well. Knowing how annoying it is when customers arrive as you are trying to close I was very happy with the service and will be coming back. read more

Great tasting coffee, but what's up with only offering such a small cup? The staff gets this complaint on a regular basis, but I guess the owners doesn't care that much about what their customers really want. read more

Tried the Turkish cardamom latte. It was delish! I wish they had gluten free pastries.

Our go-to spot while vacationing in Solana Beach. High quality coffee and teas and good selection of tasty GF treats. Also had the breakfast - perfectly poached eggs with your choice of bread (GF or regular). Add a fresh side (like avocado) and enjoy on their cozy sunny patio - doesn't get much better than this. read more

Lofty Coffee - Cafes Near Me - Solana Beach, California

Coffee ("long black") was good but came warm and not hot. Pastries are pricey. Overall casual atmosphere. A few drones typing away on their laptops sucking away the free Wi-Fi. Good shaded outdoor sitting. Recommended over any Starbucks. read more

Yeah it's lofty alright. I'd rather do a lofty air on my skateboard. Just expensive. My main beef is that the coffee only comes in 12 ounce cups. Ok......that sucks heavily....so my travel mug is 24 ounces. They wouldn't even fill my mug. I thinking just give me approximately 20 ounces and I'll be on my way. Nope I would have had to buy two 12 ounce cups! Wtf? So to get at least 20 ounces of coffee is going to cost you $356.00! Hahaha lame read more

Penuria or penury that is what crosses my mind when I think of Lofty.I went there three times shortly after 1 pm and never could get a croissant with my coffee. Always the same answer from the affable sales person " Sorry we ran out of it". Dear management please do your homework when it comes to supply and demand, inventory. You want to make money in the end.The coffee was good I have to admit. read more

Every bit as quaint/awesome/delicious as the previous reviews rave. I had the artisan toast with poached eggs and it was perfect fuel for my studying session. The Americano I had was strong and well-pulled, definitely one of the better Americanos in SD. The sun sails on the patio are a lifesaver, they kept me really comfortable even though it was high-70s outside. The place has great seating and a nice open layout too, perfect for people watching or getting together for a quick morning bite. read more

Got the Turkish coffee and a gluten free banana muffin. They were both great. The sitting area is super cute and comfortable and the staff is very friendly. Would come back. read more

Love the ambience here! I met up at this location with some friends on a hot SoCal day ;). Thankfully they have an awning to provide some shade to those that aren't too fond of the sun when it's blaringly hot (I know, don't make fun of us SoCalers and our tolerance for heat)! Another great tidbit is that it's really close to the Amtrak station and just a couple of blocks away from the beach :) Anyways, I ended up ordering their chai latte, which I love since they don't end up artificially sweetening it. They use honey, which is great, and I don't end up feeling guilty after drinking it! The staff is great and the drinks were perfect. I'm sure when I'm in the area, I'll be back to enjoy the setting again. read more

Food and service were good, but we weren't impressed enough to make a note to come back. They have an outdoor patio which helps when you have a dog with you, which we sometimes do. read more

I like a nice black drip coffee with none of the frills and all of the flavor. Lofty's basic blend is deeelicious. The setting is small but quaint with open air (and shaded) seating. My trips to different cities have me searching for the best coffee blends, and Lofty should be added to your list. I only wish the attitude of the cashier was less "lofty." Maybe next time! read more

Eggs not sold after 2pm and that info is hidden at bottom of menu? No thank you! Misleading menu design

Aztec Mocha and Americano were fantastic! It's an easy walk in the design district from some of the hotels and Del Mar racetrack if you're here to play the ponies. Highly recommend! Better than Peets down the street. read more

Pretty much the best quality coffee (organic) in San Diego. I appreciate the expertise of the baristas as well.....good stop for light breakfast as well as lunch. However, More breakfast options. read more

Lofty coffee has no comparison to other coffee shops. Freshly brewed coffee that will exceed your expectations. My favorite is the Turkish Latte, if you're bold enough try the Aztec Latte made with a hint of cayenne pepper. They also have home made gluten free pastries. This place is a must for all coffee lovers. read more

Loved the Turkish latte!! Decent prices and good coffee. Oh, it's on Cedros.. good place to stop by before or after the beach.

One of the best spots for coffee. Really good pastries and food too. This is really good coffee for coffee connoisseurs. The staff are friendly and fast but it is popular and you may have to wait in line or wait to get a table. read more

Their food is bombbbb. I was disappointed by my iced salted carmel latte though. It tasted like the coffee I make at home & had no flavor. A super cute place, finding parking can be hard depending on the time of day. read more

Coffee is very good, and the food is excellent - even the gluten-free bread for the sandwich is great

I haven't tried the food (YET- it looks so good), but I am a sucker for their lattes. The menu looks amazing and is mostly (or all?) organic. Last time I also tried the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie--- fantastic. I know this isn't a very helpful review, but the latte was truly special. Can't wait to go back. read more

One of my favorite coffee places in San Diego! I recommend the Turkish latte. It's a unique taste, I like the cardamom in it. For an iced coffee try the salted caramel iced latte. The coffees have beautiful presentation. The size is a little underwhelming but luckily it still packs a punch! The parking can be pretty challenging since the street is very busy and the parking lot is tiny. read more

Ahh what can I say about this place!!! I LOVE Lofty Coffee not for the coffee, which is amazing by the way, but more for the people, the atmosphere and the love! I love part of the year in Solana Beach and so happy when I am back in town to go to my favorite place daily. When I'm not here in CA, I miss my community here. Also my kids love it here too. The food is amazing and so welcoming with kids and dogs! It's the best place around for coffee, food and friendly service! read more

Lofty doesn't just have outstanding coffee and espresso. They put out a five star menu with fresh house pastries made out of their own kitchen and bakery. Customers who are not into coffee or tea can still come and enjoy an organic breakfast, lunch and fine dining treats on the modern open patio. read more

Love Lofty! Soy latte and toast with avocado, eggs, and arugula are $$$$. Don't EVER get their blueberry muffin though. It tastes like a block of stale bread... I would recommend the croissant or strawberry buttermilk muffin. read more

Mmmm!! Writing this post is going to make me want a cup of latte! I used to go to the Encinitas location a lot until this one was introduced a couple months back. This one I think is better than the Encinitas location. It might be because the equipment is new but the frothy-ness of the drinks are soooo smooth! My go to usually is a normal latte or an ice latte. The only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because I always rave about coffee from lofty and other places. My boyfriend is not a coffee drinker but one day he just wanted it and so I brought him a latte back and that day, it just wasn't very good. Both mine and his were slightly sour. I think they pressed the grinds too hard maybe. The coffee was kind of sour and so he was wondering why I actually rave about this place cause he got a bad batch. I do like that there's lots of places to sit at this location. There is a parking lot which the Encinitas one didn't have but this parking lot is so small that I'm always scared to even park in it. I just try to find a spot on the street instead. read more

Love love love! Wonderfull setting in the quiet quirky Cedros shopping district. I can always count on getting delicious fresh food and expertly prepared coffee. It's roomy and airy, with primarily outdoor seating. A delight to spend a few hours reading a book! read more

I cannot wait to go back here! I stopped in for an iced coffee and purchased the Kyoto style cold brew instead. DELICIOUS! This cold brew was incredibly balanced and tasty. The baristas were very funny too, one even sang me a song! :) read more

Inconsistent (coffee). some days it's really great, but most days coffee is very bitter and not good. disappointing at this price point. Although the building and design is interesting, I'm buying coffee not hanging out. I much prefer Ironsmith Coffee in Encinitas. read more

Not a fan of the coffee. Has a burnt taste to me. Food is super. If coffee were more to my liking would be here more often.
