Lodgepole has a really nice atmosphere. The food was delicious. I had the crab cakes and the fried onion rings and they were both delectable. The desserts we tried were also fabulous. Overall a really lovely dinner. Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday is so delicious at Lodgepole! The fried chicken and waffles are sooo good. The seasonal salad was perfect as a starter. I'm going to drop a few stars... there was very loud techy music.... had a bread and butter plate, the bread tasted odd. Ordered garlic mash with steak bites. Meat was good, mash potatoes were really strong. I am an avid garlic lover, but this was strong even for me. Man ordered braised beef rigatoni.... there was a vinegar taste? It was odd as well. Nothing was "bad" but definitely not 5 star worthy any more. Took forever for things to come out too. Kinda bummed. Last experience was INCREDIBLE. This one? Not so much. read more

I went here with my family for a special meal to celebrate graduation. My mom ordered the duck which they served without any duck. My mom asked if this dish was the duck and the server replied very confidently that yes it was. So, she poked around and found no duck. As she was trying to get the servers attention again they brought the duck in a side dish. Thus was weird but my mom said the duck was very good once it was brought. I ordered the chicken. It was very overcooked to the point of being dry, chewy, and charred. Every bite was a chore. I ate about 1/4 of the chicken thinking that I found a bite that looked ok only to find it was charred under the sauce. They took 1/2 off the price for the chicken but my celebratory dinner was a disappointment. The other two meals seemed fine. For the price they ask they had better get their act together or they have no business serving. read more

What a wonderful place to treat yourself! I have to say that my first visit impressed me immensely that I went back for the second time. I'll share the highlights of both times. The first time I had visited, I was seated at the chef's table which made me hesitant, but I do not regret saying yes to that decision. Getting to know the chef and watching them cook enhanced my experience. The service and personalities of the workers were great. As for food, I had ordered myself a steak. AND let me tell you...one of the best steaks I have ever had! Well cooked and well complimented by the sides. I extremely enjoy every bit of the experience. Furthermore, I had been recommended to try one of their wines...it was expensive ($20/glass) but it was exquisite and quite delightful with my meal. The second time I had visited, I was seated in a the actual table service area because I was with a large party. The table service was great, but I have to say that I missed not eating at the chef's counter/table. As for the food, I had ordered the Lodgepole burger. Definitely did not disappoint and I enjoyed every bit of my burger. I have to say that this place was a nice get away from the daily life. We enjoyed an excellent meal while staying a few days in Moscow, Idaho. The Lodgepole is very popular and a good place to celebrate an occasion. We had dinner here on Feb. 15th, 2022. Loved this spot. Great feel, very warm and welcoming staff. Menu was full of local and seasonal vegetable and meats. Loved the deviled eggs, pork chop and seasonal veggies! Good wine and beer section. There are a few options from the sea which generally make skeptical being in a land locked state. We tried the oysters, not bad but not great. I'm spoiled being from Portland. Server didn't know much about them as well which was cute but didn't instill confidence. Overall great experience. This is my favorite restaurant in Moscow. I have only been to Moscow 3 times but i have been to Lodgepole 4! Amazing service and even better food. I've had a new dish every time and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend the chicken, the duck, the pork chop, and the rigatoni. I've had more dishes here the. I called for reservations and had to leave a message because apparently they are too busy to answer. I requested a reservation for 6 for the next evening. I never received a callback, and just thought maybe they just hadn't called. Went the next night and was told they didn't have a reservation and had been booked for awhile. No offer to maybe wait for something of try to squeeze us in as we had changed to just 3 of us. I had tried to call to change number but again they couldn't answer at 4 pm. I had guest from out of town join me for an amazing dinner. Lodgepole delivered. The food was beyond good. We had the 5 course meal, chef choice. Every dish was as good as any I have had in any top restaurant in any big city. Our server, Jaden, was extremely attentive, knowledgeable about what she was serving, and so friendly! This is a very good restaurant - possibly the best in Moscow. Yesterday was our 23rd wedding anniversary. My husband is a cancer survivor in his 80s. I called more than 24 hours ahead of time to make a reservation for us and another couple to celebrate our special day. I left my name and phone number on voicemail. When we arrived tonight for dinner, there was no trace of a reservation. We were offered outdoor seating, but nothing like an apology. What's wrong with this picture? Can you say "customer service"? Get a clue! Get an online reservation app! Listen to your messages over the weekend! This was so disappointing - and really irritating. Not handled well in the moment, either. I had never been here until this week! I have always heard great things about Lodgepole and the roasted duck! So of course we had to get that for dinner. On top of that I had the seasonal gnocci, chicken wings, and Ube sponge cake. I love the idea of the menu and how it changes seasonally. Fantastic experience at the Lodgepole. We ended up ordering two small plates as we weren't very hungry, which are not small by any measure. The Porchetta Board and the Brie board are amazing. Put together with lot of thought bringing a lovely blend of flavors and texture. Bryce at the bar was very attentive and probably less frazzled as we arrived after 7pm on a Sunday. Would recommend calling ahead for a reservation. We're definitely coming back when in Moscow. Just the place to celebrate a special occasion. We stopped here when Sangria wasn't opened and were super happy with this place! The food was amazing and the service was top notch. We had the deviled pickled eggs- yum and great presentation! I had the wagyu carne asada and my boyfriend had the pork chop. Both were SO FREAKEN GOOD! We were sitting right by the kitchen (where our server graciously seated us when we requested being moved) and we chatted with one of the chefs. We told them we would be back for their gnocchi which we heard was one of their specialties. I wish I remembered our servers name so I could mention it but he was AWESOME. I had high hopes for this place. I have read many good reviews and heard from a few people that really liked it. It's not what we got. You ever seen those hamburgers they show on the commercials and it doesn't look anything like what you ordered? That's kind of like what we experienced. To be clear, often, those burgers you order still taste just fine, even if they don't look the same. But, in this case, it was so bland. So, my wife asked about the fresh fish. Was told it was salmon. Ordered. I ordered the burger. After awhile, the server came back out and said she was wrong and that it was shrimp. She said they had already started but that they were "willing to do something else." Puts the visitor in a weird position. They seem like a jerk if they say they want something else. In our case, we didn't have the time for something else. The downside is that you don't even get what you originally wanted. So, my wife was kind of stuck with it. It should never have gone to this point. But it did. So my wife said she'd just stay with this. Server said "Sorry... we're just running low on some stuff." OK. Meal came out, and the amount on the plate wasn't anything close to one of the pics I had seen. I kid you not, it was SPARSE. When the server mentioned being low on stuff, did that include some of the ingredients in this? I don't know. There were issues with the burger as well. I won't go into details. But the server knew them. I think it's important to point that out because the way Trip Advisor works, you can post a review, and then a manager or owner can come on and refute and point things out and, of course, there's no way to respond to their response. They'll say things like the next time to contact a manager and they can take care of things while the visitor is still there. Well, our server DID know the issues. She chose to offer something that, unless she was totally tone deaf, knew wasn't truly a solution. And because of the set up, with someone else sitting right on top of you, as was the case with us, it's awkward to call a manager over and start complaining and looking like a jerk. It just is. I had a discussion with a co-worker shortly after this, and she said that she had a similar situation at Sangria once. We've never had issues there. But sure enough, on her first visit, it wasn't up to snuff. The server was mortified with the issue and the co-worker said the business went out of its way to fix things in a way that would work. The were fact, attentive, financially incentivized it, and when they left, the co-worker said "you know what, it wasn't what we thought it was, but they cared deeply about that and that means a lot." They've since gone back and have had great experiences. Well, I posed on a different platform that is more about engagement with my friends... short, fairly innocuous post about the experience. The response was merely them asking them to give them another chance? Oh, sure. OK! Seriously? What a difference in responses from what my co-worker received from Sangria, and what we received from Lodgepole. Sad. If the fish rots at the head, I guess I know where the tone deafness among the server came from. read more

I was visiting Idaho from San Diego and was excited to try out Lodgepole! I grew up in the Lewiston-Clarkston area and this topped my list of new places I wanted to try on my trip home. I wish there was a restaurant like this in the Palouse when I attending WSU. It would have been great to have a nice restaurant to bring parents during parents weekends and graduation that didn't double as a bar to college students on weekends. The ambiance is perfectly Moscow. Understated and polished without being pretentious. Its perfect for a date night out, or a casual bite. The Bite Size steak was delicious. In my opinion, the only way to get Bite Size is fried. The batter was just the right texture, it melted in my mouth without being greasy. I decided to go big, and order the ribeye for my entree, because I think the quality of meat in the Northwest can't be beat, and what they have sourced is delicious. My steak was medium-rare, as ordered, but it was so tender, it would have been delicious rare as well. Between the people I was eating with, I was lucky to sample all three of the deserts being offered that night. An Ice cream cake, a great alternative to just a simple bowl of ice cream, when you want something light. The ice cream is from Ferdinand's at WSU, so of course it was delicious. I picked the Farmer's Market peaches with whipped cream and a delicious warm cake. It was the essence of being in the Northwest in the summer. The winner was the Coconut Custard with Maple. SO GOOD! I know this place is going to be successful, and I can't want to visit in a new season to try different food! I think the prices are very fair for the quality of food you're getting. Went here last night to celebrate our first anniversary. This place is great. Wonderful food and drinks, fabulous service. Everyone wished us a happy anniversary and served us delicious champagne on the house. I ordered the salmon and my husband ordered some delicious pasta dish. Both were absolutely delicious. This is a great place to go for a nice dinner. It's a little on the speedy side, but totally worth it for the quality and the experience. We appreciate that this place is gratuity-free as well. I was dropping in for a work trip and was so blown away! To get anything near this quality you have to go to Portland or Seattle, and quite frankly it was incredibly affordable for the quality of food, atmosphere, and service. I was looking for a restaurant as was passing through Moscow, Idaho for the first time. I saw that Lodgepole had high ratings. Food was as delicious as others have reported. Lodgepole definitely deserves the high ratings it has. Generous sized portions. We shared a salad and lamb chops. So well prepared. Greens so fresh and flavorful. Definitely showed pride in preparation. Service was exemplary. Definitely will come back if in area. Please note: They have statement on bill saying that staff is paid fairly (or some similar statement) so no tips necessary although they could be given. Unfortunately I did not have cash and no place to tip on credit card or debit payment. I would make sure to bring some cash next time to commend excellent service. Yay for paying staff a fair amount.
