I am extremely disappointed in my recent experience here. I've been multiple times but this time was not great. We went on a Saturday evening around 7 pm so it was not busy with plenty of seats open. We were able to walk in and be seated quickly. I wanted to order a specific drink on their menu, but they said they were out of coconut milk. So I ended up not getting the drink. They have specials and I wanted to try a salad to start. It was a spinach salad with strawberries. Sounded good but when I received it, it was literally a pile of spinach with maybe 2 cut strawberries, 4 tiny almonds and like a tablespoon of goat cheese. What?! For $13 that's the salad you receive? Sorry but who in their right mind thinks that's okay. For the main course I decided to try their seafood special, the stuffed trout. Sounds delicious, but the waitress never told me it was a WHOLE trout. I don't mind whole fish but I wasn't expecting it because it was not advertised as whole or mentioned to be whole! It had so. Many. Bones. Which of course because it's whole but if I knew I would have gotten something else! The funny thing is, the table next to us ordered the same thing after and our waitress told him it was whole, asked if he wanted a sharp knife, etc. I was NEVER offered those things once. Not only... but it was very bland. I was so disappointed in the waitress not mentioning details and the dish itself. Especially for $39 I expected way more. Also, we ordered the grilled meatloaf. We have ordered this dish handfuls of times and it's been delicious with the mashed potatoes and carrots. But they changed the recipe completely! Why fix something not broken? The meatloaf has less flavor, it's not as crispy, it's a whole different shape too. The mashed potatoes aren't even mashed potatoes anymore, it's a potato puck of some sort. I don't understand why this recipe was changed. This was the one thing that kept us returning, that and the creme brûlée. The crème brûlée was still delicious as usual but honestly besides the dessert I would not get any of these dishes again. And with today's experience I'm not sure if I'd return. read more

I spent my birthday alone, so I decided I would go to Nectar bc I saw they had Cougar Gold mac and cheese and if you live in the area, you will know that every place that has it, prepares it a little differently. I arrived and found parking around the corner, and I came right after they opened (around 4:15 pm) , and I was seated quickly. The server was so lovely and sweet and she sat me quickly and facing outside so I could watch people walking by. As it's located in the outskirts of the college, it's a heavily walked path to get to downtown. I ordered the Mac and cheese, and it was perfect! A great crumbly panko crust atop a flavorful noodly ramekin straight out of the oven. The couple next to me ordered steaks, and they looked amazing. They were plump and seared, and They also ordered a salad beforehand. The presentation was perfect for a date! Later, I inquired if they did anything for birthdays (might as well ask!) and I pulled out my ID. She offered me a dessert of my choice! Out of the 4 options, I chose the creme brûlée. Oh my gracious! What a perfectly burnt sugar crust and the most velvety smooth custard underneath! It was perfection! The server came back and asked how everything was and I told her to compliment the chef and then I was waiting for my check and she told me to have a happy birthday. Then I almost started crying because she proceeded to say that my bill was paid for. I 100% Was not looking for a pity party on my birthday and I insisted to pay and she said no, it was covered. I have no idea if somebody like a patron paid, or if they put it on the house for me, but that was the sweetest thing ever especially for my first time dining at this establishment. I really felt blessed Being treated like that. So thank you,Nectar, For the fabulous service, the fantastic food, and the hearts of gold to really make my Birthday enjoyable. I have either lived in or often visited the Pullman/Moscow area since the mid-80's. Finding standout dining experiences was always a challenge, particularly for a foodie who happens to be a good cook too. The food at Nectar was such a pleasant surprise! We had a party of 8. I tried everything and it all was spectacular! The meatloaf was a standout, and I don't even like meatloaf! Well...now I do! The Mac cheese also very tasty. All the dishes were great. Our server was super too. The food took a bit to get out, but once it arrived you knew it would be worth the wait! Highly recommend! read more

A very cute setting - the ambiance is excellent. The decor is wonderful, the candle is charming and it just is an overall pleasant dining experience. If you want a fancy dining experience, this is the place for you. We came in at 5:30 on a Friday and there was already a 2 hour waitlist - so I'd highly recommend folks put in a reservation here. When we came in at 7:30pm, they were already out of a lot of specials so that's another warning to folks who want to dine here. For an appetizer, we ordered the truffle fries. The fries ended up more like large, thick wedges and the truffle flavor was a bit muted. It often was overpowered by the house mayo they had. I wouldn't order this again but it was decent for what it was (just not spectacular). I ordered the lentil balls and my friend ordered the mac and cheese. Both were very good meals. The sauce for the lentil ball dish in particular was delicious and the naan very well flavored and baked. The lentil balls were solid though the paneer in the dish felt more like an afterthought. Overall, the food was good - though it was on the pricier end and I don't think it was fully worth the price tag. read more

I tried the creamy fettuccine Alfredo and it was such a comforting plate of food. The sauce was rich and perfectly clung to the noodles. It had just the right balance of garlic and cream without feeling too heavy. They topped it with a generous sprinkle of parmesan which made it even better. The pasta was cooked al dente, just the way I like it. The portion size was good too, I had leftovers for lunch the next day. I'll definitely be back to try their pesto next time. read more

We came here on a Graduation Saturday and the place was full. We didn't have reservations but it was snowing and I requested if we could wait until a table was available, they were very sweet to accommodate us on a table meant for for 2 ppl ( we were 3 of us) instead of waiting. Food n Drinks was delicious. We got 2 cocktails : Pear Daquiri Special Menu drink We got the crostini, salad, Lentil Balls and Squash Risotto. Salad was v fresh n refreshing! Customer service is top notch at this establishment. We arrived for an early dinner (around 5 something) and weren't aware that reservations were needed. The hostess kindly found a spot for us (without us asking her to do so). We had to be out by a certain time, but that was not an issue for us. The restaurant has a nice, dimly lit, calm atmosphere. The food (lil Mac and cheese, harvest risotto, burger and Shepard pie) and wine were good. My son's burger initially came out quite underdone. They gave us another burger and comped the burger (which we did not expect at all). We were so happy to try this establishment due to Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. I love Nectar. Great service, smaller menu but still a decent amount of choices. Their food is very rich (wish I wouldve known before going). They have a good cocktail menu. For a small little town, not a bad place to stop for a semi fancy meal. Meal was delivered fast, they weren't super overly awkward towards people regarding COVID, and the wine flight was decent. The only thing that got me... which made me want to give this a lower rating.. were the rest of the staff and their unprofessional conversations. I understand it's a college town? And with that comes a ton of different political views but keep that quiet. Politics and religion should be kept a bit more quiet. They lost me as a returning customer just based off of a few extremely jacked up comments. You never know who may be around you while you are talking and what cameras might be pointed your way these days so step out of the negative and have your shit conversations behind a door because not everyone agrees with you. read more

The food was really good....the waitress was terrific...but the "restaurant" doesn't know how to manage!!! We were seated near the bathroom and a group of 5 came in (but there were actually 8)! They were loud, obnoxious...awful...and there were 9 of us at 3 different tables who could NOT get out of there soon enough!! The staff should never have allowed this barrage of people to completely disrupt ANY possible dining experience!! WE shall never eat there again NOR will I endorse or encourage others!! 1 A waste of money We have frequented Nectar over the years. Two visits ago we waited 90 minutes to receive our meal. Grade of F. This past Friday we were three. Guest had meatloaf. He liked it. Grade is a 9.5 I had pork chop. Had been looking forward to it all day. Nectar owner and chef need to visit Black Cypress Restaurant in Pullman or Saute in Clarkston, learn from whom they purchase their pork chops and learn how to prepare a tasty pork chop. Grade was a 7.5 Third person had their fish special. Won't spend time describing its poor quality. A total waste of money. Grade is an F. Nectar can do far better. I dined at Nectar with my old college roommate the night before Thanksgiving. I enjoyed the ambiance, food, and overall experience. Our wait staff needed additional training as they knew nothing about the cheeses on our excellent Cheese Plate, couldn't recommend a wine for dinner, didn't know anything about a listed addition to a pasta dish, and didn't know anything about dessert wines. They were really friendly and nice so we didn't let these things ruin our dinner but I expect more from a nice restaurant. The food was good though could have been better. I had pasta with butternut squash and they needed to bump the amount of squash in the dish. I would go back though with just a few areas of improvement, the place could be outstanding. read more

Very nice experience here! The food is excellent. We tried the mac and cheese and the market seafood special that was cod with black rice. I was afraid the cod would be boring, but was I wrong! It was perfectly prepared and so delicious! I had never had black rice before (aka forbidden rice), so this was a treat. Everything was delightful. The service was very welcoming and warm. The menu is limited, but it would appear that the focus on fewer menu items means better dishes. We didn't have any alcoholic beverages so can't speak to that, but the drink offerings looked interesting and varied. Casual atmosphere but attractive. We will be back! read more

This restaurant/owner should and could do better. The outside looks nice, and I was hopeful of having a nice meal with my wife while traveling. The meal was mediocre - the bacon wrapped meatloaf was difficult to stomach (OVERLY greasy with an off BBQ flavor), but all other items were of acceptable quality. When the bill came, I was surprised to see the very large fixed percent forced gratuity for the kitchen. The server stressed that this fixed additional gratuity should not impact her gratuity and was listed somewhere on the menu that I didn't see. *I just checked the website and cannot find this fee listed*. This is not what you expect when the menu price for an item is already over $25. Perhaps this fee is common in the area/region as I was visiting from out of town, however, it comes across as the owner trying to get away with paying kitchen staff insufficient wages and having the customer make up for it. Seems like if there is a fixed percent of each dish prepared that should go to the kitchen staff, then it should be included in the menu price and invisible to the customer rather than creating a strange customer experience. read more

We ordered Bread and Butter for a starter. The butter was cold and not very spreadable, but the bread was wonderful. There were a ton of mini bread slices, which were more than enough for two. I ordered the Caesar Salad. They make theirs with kale, which I do not mind. I very much enjoyed the salad. I really liked the dressing. It had a lemony taste (if I am correct) that was delicious! For my entree, I got the Filet Mignon. It was delicious. The broccolini was outstanding. The potatoes were wonderful. The steak was wonderfully rare and lightly seasoned with salt. On top was a bordelaise sauce. Delicious! For dessert, we (mainly me) had Bread Pudding. I do not fully remember the flavoring, but it was nutty. I loved it! It was only a small piece, which after filling up on everything else and wine, was just enough. (Any restaurant that offers bread pudding will instantly have me order dessert, by the way. I cannot resist!) This was such a wonderful dinner. After being stuck inside and not being able to go out to eat for so long, this was a wonderful choice to get back into things! If you are in the Pullman/Moscow area and are looking for a nice dinner without breaking the bank, look no further than Nectar. And I highly recommend Mondays, which are Meatloaf Mondays. My partner's meatloaf sandwich was the best I have ever had. It came with this smokey/BBQ aioli (I do not know the exact flavor) that was very, very tasty. Accessibility: This restaurant is mostly accessible. There is a ramp to get into the restaurant, so no steps to worry about. The tables in some areas are tightly spaced, so navigating may be difficult. All tables are low with chairs without arms. There are also benches attached to the wall (like a booth). I did not check the washrooms, which I should have, but from what I know they are gender neutral. The lighting at night is low, which could be an issue. Noise was not an issue for us--it was never very loud even with the groups nearby. There is outside seating when it isn't winter. Those chairs do have arms. One thing to note was the ramp was not really cleared of snow when we went and then a truck was there when we left (for some reason...). read more

I was so excited but that was short lived .We started our meals with some truffle fried and cougar Mac tho the Mac and cheese starter was good the fries tasted as if I was eating bark off a tree. The mains came in market seafood which was Thai curry stew . I took one bite and to my dismay it made me spit it right back out .salty fishy no pleasant flavor just disgusting the cod fish tasted as if it's been frozen for months .I waited for the waiter to take my meal away and ordered the burger instead . Placed at a two-top table next to the window with lots of traffic at our elbows and consumers checking out our food every time walking in/out of the restaurant and every time to the restrooms. Lotsa people. Hubby had the halibut with a lemon beurre blanc - VERY TASTY. (Honestly, we didn't expect it so good...glad we ordered it.) I had a warm summer pasta dish - again, better than expected. The review was from some local that was complaining about the menu never changing. Meh Whiny locals sometimes don't know how good they have it until they don't have it. This place kicks butt. Too bad it's in Moscow because the staff here are really really good at what they do and that makes me jealous we don't have staff like that in Reno. But this isn't a complain about Reno post. And the sandwich was just unbelievably tasty and texturally oh so satisfying. Soft roll and soft meatloaf just couldn't be topped. I can't believe I forgot to talk about the cougar gold mac and cheese! The whole reason I started reading the reviews on Yelp in the first place! That Mac and Cheese was good and rich and totally worth the price for the cup. Not sure I could finish it's richness in a whole bowl. But that cup was just the perfect size appetizer. The salad was right on too lightly dressed and so very fresh. But really the star was the staff. The gal making the salads was really friendly and helpful, suggesting I go check out different places in town. The manager type guy was also really cool and fun to talk to. The whole vibe of the place is really exactly what I would picture a winebar that serves food to be like. I did sit at the bar....so I can't tell you how table service goes....but my meal and my time here was probably the highlight of my trip to Moscow and Pullman. read more

We were there on Tuesday and lucked out on half price wine day. If you stay at the Monarch motel across the street the owners are the same and you get 10% off as well.
