During our visit to Moscow, we decided to have dinner in town. Nectar was recommended more than once, so we gave it a try. We got in immediately with no reservations, but to be fair, it was a Tuesday night. Regardless, it was still busy! Our server was helpful and friendly, especially when he pointed out that we just made the deadline for half-off apps! Taking full advantage, we ordered the clams, shrimp skewers, and li'l mac 'n' cheese. Mac 'n' cheese: rich and flavorful. Clams: plump, in an amazingly spiced broth - use your bread for clean-up! Shrimp: best app, hands down (did I mention it's wrapped in crispy bacon?). Entrees: Grass-fed burger and fries was one of the top 3 burgers of my life! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Add the cheese and pickle aioli and you have a knockout winner. Fries are steak fries served with chipotle sauce - smoky with that familiar kick. Yum, hit of the table. Grilled meatloaf was a surprisingly large portion with the most amazing BBQ sauce. Very thoroughly enjoyed - would definitely order again. Needless to say, we felt pretty piggy, but happy. :) And the pigginess didn't stop there! Honey Vanilla Bean Creme Brûlée was served and devoured quickly. The caramelization seemed to include the honey, which made it softer (no familiar "crack" of the sugar), but no less satisfying. Ambiance was quaint. Prices were great. We had 3 apps, 4 entrees, 2 beverages, and 1 dessert for $89+tip. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice dinner out. It was a treat! read more

I really used to enjoy Nectar and have been there several times over the years, but my latest experience there was pretty bad. We'd made a reservation a couple weeks in advance and when we arrived we were seated at a small table, not much larger than a card table, and two adults had to share one short side. So we requested a different table and the response from the manager was terse and patronizing. We did not get a different table, or an offer to wait for one. We had a very friendly and sweet waitress, and I think somewhat new and inexperienced, which was fine, we've all been there. It took us a bit to get our order taken, just appetizers and a couple of burgers. Our food arrived 1 hour and 45 minutes after we had been seated. Most of it. After another 5-10 minutes we had to ask for someone to check on the rest of our order. The shrimp skewers I ordered were charred and super-salty, and the usual sauce that goes on there was barely noticeable. I've had these before and they were AH-mazing. But now they were barely edible. At one point, another table dropped and broke their glass of wine, and the table next to them tried to get down and help clean up some of the pieces and the manager got pretty feisty about it. She said she was worried about liability, but her tone was so sharp and unfriendly. The atmosphere in the room was definitely cold and unwelcoming. I did love the bread and the wine list is extensive. But the chill we got from the manager and the long wait and the super salty food - it did not feel like the celebratory dinner we had planned that evening, and I was happy to finally go. I'm not the kind of person to make a scene in a restaurant, and I rarely leave a bad review. But I feel like there could be some improvements made, and I definitely would not recommend this place to friends. I am local, and I would love to see it as it used to be. read more

Visiting Moscow for work and Nectar came highly recommended by coworkers. I decided to give it a try and was welcomed to a quaint, classy downtown feeling restaurant. It was cozy and inviting by the ladies working. The menu is limited, but that is not a negative. It made it very easy to see the variety of flavor that awaited me and to choose a delectable dish that would satisfy my palette. Another plus for me is that everything is made in house and they try to use as many local ingredients as possible. I ordered a What Happens in Vegas drink that was a light, refreshing mix of cucumber, lemon and white cranberry. It was amazing and full of flavor. For my appetizer I ordered the asparagus salad. SO GOOD doesn't even begin to describe. It was so full of flavor and the combination of those flavors made for a delightful tasting experience. For my main dish the meatloaf and potatoes was hands down recommended by everyone. I was not steered wrong. It was a mind explosion and BEST MEATLOAF I've ever had. I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors from this dish. The presentation of food was clean, pleasant to the eye and represented food as art. The staff was extremely friendly and took wonderful care of us. We had a lovely meal there last night. Lentil ball coconut curry is one of best dishes ever. The restaurant should raise its prices, however (they are very reasonable) , rather than subject its servers to explaining that the 10% service charge on the bill is for "back of house" employees & restaurant expenses subsidy, so it doesn't replace tip for your server. It was packed and 5 of us jammed in a small corner table. It was sort of congested but we made it work. Charcuterie? Check. Lamb with cous cous and some broccolini? Yes, please. The small chops had a nice sear on the outside and were a perfect medium rare. The cous cous was plentiful and spiked with a sprinkling of fresh herbs and a boost of lemon zest. This place is really great! The only problem I encountered was having to wait a little while for a table even though I had a reservation. The food was amazing, I had an arugula salad with beets and goat cheese, filet mignon with green beans and small potatoes, and the chocolate souffle. All of them were amazing. I expected that the filet mignon would be good, and it was, but the potatoes were the part of the meal that surprised me with how incredibly tasty they were. They were among the best potatoes I've ever had. The chocolate souffle is amazingly rich and tasty and comes with ice cream on top. Order it when you order your meal so they can have it ready for you! I plan to go back, even though that will mean taking a bus from Pullman. read more

I came here with my daughter and we were looking to have dinner somewhere nice. I love trying out different places and I'm definitely not a fast food type of person and I'm really picky when it comes to food. I tried lentil balls in coconut curry and it was delicious with great flavor, my daughter had the summer pasta, which was also delicious and refreshing. We also had some cocktails and I honestly was being difficult with what I wanted and super picky, Elizabeth our waitress was amazing she was patient and even accommodating, the bartender made a custom cocktail for me and it was nice, strong and so good. I love the ambiance and the customer service is exceptional. I would definitely recommend this place and come here again the next time I'm in town. read more

I travel Idaho a lot, so this is the second time I've had the opportunity to eat at Nectar. Both times, the service was good and the meals were delivered promptly. The menu is very small but each item is fresh and original. Since it has been almost a year since I had been there, I felt the small menu was largely the same. The wine list was large which probably draws in the crowd. This second time I was less impressed by an extremely simple $15 burger. Although good, it's hard to justify $15 almost anywhere in Idaho especially a cramped wine bar/restaurant. Once again even though we arrived within 1 and a half hours after opening the daily special was gone. The meatloaf was fantastic but once again very highly priced. Small menu, overly priced and poor availability of specials has made me move this place down to a 3. There are a number of nice restaurants in Moscow now. Nectar needs to up its game at this price. read more

A fabulous locavore restaurant and wine bar I had a hard time choosing what to have, but in the end I couldn't go wrong. The mac & cheese appetizer made with Cougar Gold was superb. The pasta puttenesca was just what it should be - piquant and a little spicy, with all the flavors easily discerned. The wine list was quite good, which given their proximity to Walla-Walla wineries was not surprising -- but the big surprise was the reasonable markup on some wines I know well. And while I didn't feel like meat that night, their non-vegetarian offerings looked really good too. And best of all -- it's a bargain (by Seattle standards) but too expensive to draw the University of Idaho student crowd on a weeknight -- making it a great place for adults to relax and enjoy really good food. read more

The menu had changed, understandable for a place that rotates their offerings. Grilled meatloaf was interesting and good. The chipotle BBQ sauce was sweet, not so smoky. The spaghetti dish (pesto) was downed by our son, so must have been good. The Nectar salad was disappointing with brown and wilted greens, a sprinkling of pine nuts and blue cheese. The balsamic dressing was nice. Service was incredibly slow. (We arrived before the dinner rush, so being busy didn't seem to be a valid reason.) The one child at our table had her meal served last and not to her specifications. (She wanted a dry burger, nothing on it... not difficult to do.) With so many other options, I would not dine at Nectar again. read more

They said they did not have my reservation at all and could not seat me. when the reservation for that night had come and past, they actually called me to ask where I was and if I was standing them up, giving me a bad time for being late. One of my favorite places ever. Brett is an amazing human overall, not only just for the restaurant, but also while he's out in the community. I genuinely can say him and his wife created a gem not found anywhere else. The food is phenomenal- I have never had a piece of meat as moist and delicious as the decadent meatloaf. My guilty pleasure is the meat and olive plate- especially with a side of their bread and butter! I also love their gin and tonics- especially with an affinity for the Japanese old fashioned, particularly for the honey sweetness included. Yum! We feel this is a good place to eat when in town , the food was good - loved the beet salad but the BEST part is the wonderful wait staff, especially a young lady , Amanda. We eat out more often than most and travel a great deal . Amanda is awesome- on top of her surroundings, pays attention to her guests along with their needs and is quick to notice when something is not right. She then is fast to make adjustments as needed. The prices are a little high but the food quality is excellent ... we did think the wine was a bit pricy for the size of pour & suggest management consider increasing by maybe a 1/2 ounce . When you want to channel your inner middle-aged-woman about town, this is where you go. The food is competent new American. They take risks (always a good thing) with their specials that they don't with their regular menu- such as sunflower risotto or a pistachio cake. When they have labneh, it's decent, though not as goat cheese-heavy as you'd expect. That's not really why you go to Nectar, though. I mean, yeah, the ambience is infused with an air of polite celebration. No, you go to Nectar for the f**king cocktails. They're the best in town, especially if you're lucky enough to find Chelsea behind the bar. read more
