i wouldn't return or recommend. we ordered a BLT, Shakshuka, matcha latte, and vanilla latte. Matcha latte was very low quality, vanilla latte was fine. food was nearly $60 and took over half an hour to arrive. if you've ever intensely overcooked an egg, you'd know that eggs turn bluish black. it takes a lot of time for an egg to turn black. my shakshuka was most definitely forgotten in the oven. chalky yolks and black egg whites are not appetizing and yolks in shakshuka should always be runny. absolutely nothing was worth the price and service was poor. read more

Amazing breakfast and lunch spot with incredible baked items. The sweets are otherworldly. We had the shakshuka which I enjoyed but my wife found to have a little metallic taste to it, but i think that was just the flavor profile of the tomato after it was cooked a lot or something. I also had the albacore which was great but also had some color to it from other seasonings/ ingredients so it was not pure white; the flavor was a little more than i am used to, but still very enjoyable. The breads are amazing. The coffee was great. The ambience was wonderful; a great place to sit and talk with friends and relax. Great lighting. I came here on Sunday for brunch with a friend. My friend had been a few times before. It was my first time. We got there at 12pm and it was packed until we left a little after 1pm. They have very limited seating inside and outside. I got the shakshuka and my friend got the falafel. We both liked what we got. Conveniently within walking distance from my boyfriend's apartment, I love the cozy ambiance and welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the Jambon Beurre, which features French ham, Gruyere cheese, cultured butter, and Dijon mustard on a toasted baguette. My boyfriend went for the Breakfast Sammie, which includes toasted sourdough, farm eggs, cheddar, arugula, mayo, and bacon. Their bread is phenomenal--I can't wait to try everything on the menu. The service is excellent; they always check to make sure what I ordered tastes great. This place is adorable and offers plenty of outdoor seating. What a disappointing lunch. $24! for a Cobb salad with very burnt bacon, overcooked hard boiled eggs (gray rimmed yolks), bland tomatoes, and underseasoned dressing. Get the ricotta toast!! The ricotta was more like a whipped cream and the strawberry jam was perfect. The sourdough bread was thick, soft and had a delicious flavor. Every component of this was so good!! Next time I'm buying a loaf of bread for home. I saw a cinnamon bun sitting on the counter and couldn't get over how massive it was (like half a loaf of bread) so I took a pic. When I first went here, I loved the atmosphere and I was so excited because I. LOVE. BREAD!!!!! I've been here AND ordered here many times now. Let me start with the best and worst part. The best thing they have on their menu is their mushroom hummus. I actually HATE hummus but this was the best hummus I've ever had, especially with the mushrooms. Those mushrooms were like CR*CK, I couldn't help but moan when I was eating it. That was two weeks ago and now they discontinued it! Now I'll continue eating sucky hummus from other restaurants. Nothing will ever live up to the mushroom hummus here. I would pay big bucks for the recipe. Or to have it back on the menu. My mind was blown with this mushroom hummus. The chai latte is SOOOO good, probably one of the best chai lattes I've had in LA so far. So aromatic and creamy, yet not overly sweet. Tastes much better hot and in store, as opposed to delivery/takeout. I wouldn't know what authentic chai tastes like but it tastes like what I'd imagine it to taste like. The ricotta and jam toast was really good but all the times I've gotten it, the toast was weirdly hard - almost stale or just toasted for too long. I asked for them to not toast it today and it was a million times better. The baguette with jamon, cheese, and mustard was good but nothing amazing. The baguette was definitely too hard on the outside (not in a stale way, just in a baguette way) and ~destroyed~ the roof of my mouth. The shakshuka was also really good, I'd def get it again - I normally think shakshuka is just ok but this one is super good and it's prob one of the top items I'd order from here. The turkey club was huge but it was pretty good so it felt worth it. Probably wouldn't get it again though just because it wasn't mind-blowing and it's still kinda expensive. I guess you could eat half for lunch and save the rest for leftovers and to think of it as two meals is ok? Matcha latte was also just ok. Came here for the shakshuka, but was pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Not too busy in mid-morning Wednesday and customer service was great. The shakshuka was on the sweeter side which wasn't my favorite but still good. Cinnamon toast was great and so was turkey pesto sandwich. A little pricey but good portions. I came back to Lodge Bread after coming here two days ago because I couldn't wait to try the gigantic Cinnamon Roll! The Cinnamon Roll did not disappoint. I normally like something that is more gooey but the quality of dough is high so it does not taste dry at all. I asked to have the cream on the side, rather than on the Cinnamon Roll. I recommend doing so because I was able to control the sweetness of each bite. The chopped salad was also great! The dressing was flavorful and I liked the texture from the chickpeas and cheese. My father had the Breakfast Sandwich and he told me it was very tasty too. The service at Lodge Bread is also great! They refilled my tea when they noticed my pot was running low, offered a box, and were very friendly overall. We will be coming back again! I definitely want to try the cookies and cakes. read more

I can only speak about the bread. I buy the organic sourdough or the rye bread in loaves. It is really tasty. The texture has a nice chew. The crust has crunch that doesn't cut the root of the mouth. It toasts nicely ad provides a delicious delivery system for avocado toast and other sandwiches. My only complaint is the price is very high. With bread this delicious, I can't stop eating it. In our house an expensive loaf of Lodge bread doesn't last more than two days for two people. read more

Still bummed that Hasiba is gone but thankful that Lodge Bread (by the same amazing group that owned Hasiba) has taken its place. Stopped in for an early breakfast (they open at 8am every day) and dove into a sumptuous shakshuka, with rich and hearty tomato sauce and two massive slices of home (Lodge?!) made bread. For good measure we overindulged and got a veggie sandwich. While we'll miss the various Israeli delights that Hasiba served up, it's great that the crew kept some of the reliable treats, like the hummus, on the menu. (Can we get the fries back?!?!) It was looking really good so I wanted to try between my meetings. I ordered a shakshuka and was working on the phone when they brought it. I didn't realize fully When they left, the hot cast iron pan's handle pointing at me without any protection sleeve or towel on the handle. I hit my arm and got burned really badly right away. Accidents may happen and it can be partly my fault, too. However, the terrible part was "the manager" got UPSET WITH ME instead of an apology. When I said it would be better if they would bring it with a protection sleeve or a towel around the handle like everywhere else, he said "No, owner wants to serve like this!" In the meantime another customer next table who ordered the same thing was also saying they shouldn't bring like this. Especially handle facing at us! After this you would expect they would try to make it up to it right? Nothing! So I got burned and got the blame and I'm Sorry to say this but shakshuka was tasting like a spicy ketchup. Sourdough bread dough produced by Lodge has various lacto bacteria created during the long fermentation process that makes the bread have a deeper flavor as well having a unique texture. Lodge makes a variety of bread styles but they're all sourdough based. I've purchased most all of them and they're all very good, rustic and not dense. Their whole bread loaves range from about $11-$14. They also serve a variety of sandwiches, salads and meals that I have never tried, but they look good. Ask for them to slice your bread loaf if preferable. 3 locations -8am to 3:45pm. 2 farmers' markets. The earlier you show up before closing the better chance they won't be sold out of the loaves. The big breakfast comes with seeded country bread that tasted very fresh and fluffy. The sausage, eggs, fries, and arugula were all high quality and well-cooked.
