I called Andy today because my key kept getting stuck in the lock. I was impressed with all the reviews on Yelp and I was not disappointed when Andy came to my apartment. He figured out what the problem was right away and was very honest and forthright. What blew me away was that he only charged me the service fee since the problem was really quite minor and he was able to fix it within five minutes. After locking myself out of the apartment I called around to get some quotes so I would know what I was in for before committing to any random locksmith. After a few shady calls with other companies who said they "couldn't tell me anything until we get there" I was so glad to get an honest answer from Andy. ($29 for the service call and a reasonable range of prices depending on the type of lock we have and how it can be opened.) He was in the neighborhood so service was lightning fast and when he arrived he was professional and friendly. Andy was great. We had a very annoying handle problem on our building front door, and Andy came right away. He wasn't sure he would be able to get the part to fix it, because our door is custom made (and did I mention, annoying?). But he did a temporary fix and then texted a few hours later saying that he had the part and came back that night to fix it. He only charged us for one visit. I accidentally locked myself out of my bathroom. It's a key-less privacy door lever lock. Unfortunately due to time and I was already late for work I didn't have time to try and fix it. I called Locksmith Andy to make the repair. I give them kudos for showing up at the agreed time. And I don't to give away the secret on how the problem was fixed because they do need to make a living. But I do feel I was overcharged for a 5 minute fix that if I had taken the time and youtube it I could of fixed it myself. Prior to the appointment I was told there was a $29 charge just for the visit which I was OK with but to fix it cost and additional $100 which I was not told about till after the door was unlocked. read more

The job was done satisfactorily and quickly. However, my issue is with the price. I think $400 to install a new front door lock is excessive. There was a $29 service call charge that I think should not have been included since I gave them the job. The labor was $79. The cost of the lock, I was told, was $295!! Seems rather excessive to me. I booked Andy this morning to come put in a new lock on my apartment door. He's a great communicator -- gave me all the info in his first email to me (his rate, what would be involved, when he could come, how he would contact me, etc). He was a little late due to heavy traffic, but he kept in communication to let me know his whereabouts and his estimated time of arrival, which was very appreciated. He's professional, very pleasant, and he worked very quickly. Once the lock was installed, he tested it repeatedly and then had me test it a few times to make sure I was completely satisfied with is work. Then he told me repeatedly to feel free to call him if there are any further issues. He did great work, and I recommend him highly.
