Lots of history here and the surrounding area. We all enjoyed ice cream after the tour. Call to schedule because Locke is small and hours are sporadic. We came up to purchase a couple of kayaks and wanted to be centrally located to the Lodi Lake and downtown. This home is perfectly situated for both. BIG BONUS--- Each room has a bathroom...not all B&B's do and it is a must for me :-). If you need a lot of counter space in the bathroom I would recommend the Downstairs Suite...We were just in town to kayak so I didn't have a lot of stuff but if I needed to use hair tools and good lighting for makeup, I would want to be in the Downstairs Suite. We stayed in the Master Suite and the Black and White Suite. Both rooms are nicely appointed and the beds are SOOOO comfortable. The entire home is clean and cozy, Breakfast was delicious both times and we enjoyed wonderful conversations with the other guests. Check in was very easy and the neighborhood was safe and quite. We had no worries about having our kayaks tied up to our truck overnight. We look forward to coming back!

We stayed in the Stone Pine room, which is one of the smaller rooms, but it was a good enough size for a couple, had a private entrance, and did not share any walls with other rooms. Very peaceful and quiet. Keep in mind there was no cell service in this room (Verizon), due to the more secluded location, but the wifi worked great. The star of the show were the outdoor soaking tubs, which really made the experience so special. The tubs are more like bathtubs than jacuzzis, with temperature adjustments which was perfect for being pregnant, and no yucky chlorine smell after. Amazing! The breakfasts were delicious each day and part of the magic of the bed and breakfast. Breakfast was delivered to the room promptly and the owners were willing to accommodate my dietary restriction. Coffee/tea was available via Keurig in the rooms (Starbucks and Peet's pods) with plenty of cream and sugar options. The only downside to our stay was that we ended up having to lose our *full* pay for an expensive massage package due to a personal medical emergency. I am not docking stars on this rating because I understand they are running a business, we signed the policy, etc. This is just my personal opinion on a unique situation for you as a potential guest to know. Because they contract out for their spa services, just beware they do not have a forgiving policy. I happened to have a horribly timed medical emergency at the time of our massage. The masseuses were already onsite and we felt terrible, but I was physically unable to get the massage and needed to go to the hospital promptly. We informed the owners what was going on every step of the way, and they were kind and understanding in the moment given a bad situation. However, I was disappointed they offered no support with brainstorming a potential reschedule (we were willing to pay more), offer a partial refund, small future discount, etc... nothing. It was honestly just crickets from them and seemed to be unsaid that it was not their problem. This might come down to personal opinion, but it felt cold and dampened our experience. I ended up having to be the one to reach out to the owner via text, and again in person when we returned to the Inn to inquire about a reschedule or any support with the matter. The owner stated there were no slots available, no refunds, and cited having to put strict policies in place due to people in the past missing massages for arriving late, oversleeping, etc. Again, this just felt cold considering the terrible morning scare we had, which clearly was different than just being irresponsible. This kind of humanity in hard situations is what sets certain businesses apart for me in extenuating circumstances, and keeps guests coming back. Other than this, we had a wonderful stay and would choose to revisit the Eden Vale Inn given all the other great and accommodating features of our stay.

Our suite (one of five) was absolutely stunning. The Innkeeper (the first of three amazing Innkeepers) had the gas fireplace lit, and wonderful instrumental music playing, as she showed us our suite. The food was phenomenal: gourmet breakfasts, 5:00 wine and cheese, and homemade cookies in the evening. My favorite part was the patio with a fire pit overlooking the vineyard. The meals were uber fresh (filling enough that we skipped lunch both days!). Every day around 5 you're treated to wine and cheese. Perfect location to wine taste on property or venture out to the growing number of top rated wineries. Walk amongst the vineyards or take out one the beach cruisers or trikes for a ride around. It was a very large lovely room with en suite bathroom, also quite large. The room was bright and full of light, decor was upscale vintage and the king bed was soooo comfortable. There was even a vintage mini fridge in the room for snacks or left overs. Both spaces were spotless, very well kept. We had breakfast outside on the deck both mornings that we were there and Chris, our host, made us a different offering each day, with fresh coffee, oj, freshly cut fruit, something eggy and something sweet, we loved it all. We also enjoyed the company of our four legged hosts, Cosmo a statuesque white standard poodle who made sure to always have a toy offering in his mouth upon greeting us and Gracie a slightly pudgy super friendly tabby cat who did what cats do best, lounge in the sun and soak up pets from guests that happen to pass by. We will definitely be back to Lodi for other wine getaway adventures and we hope our room at Bella Vino is available next time we make the trip.

FRAUD ALERT…read more Boyfriend & I came here on January 31st. We got massages which we paid the gratuity for that very day since we were charged right away. As of yesterday 2/27 I've been charged $86 by "The Inn on First" which I noticed immediately as either a mistake or fraud. I called them & front desk receptionist seemed very confused & even apologetic because of the fact I was there one month ago & not yesterday! I told her I would like to be refunded & she of course had to get the owner involved, understandably. The owner, Celia, calls me & already had a defensive rude tone to her voice which was confusing because of the situation. She claims that I had not been charged for the gratuity from the massages & that they had just now caught it & were charging me now. I told her that I know for a fact we had already paid for the gratuity based on the amount charged to my card which was the total cost of the massages including the gratuity. She argued stating my numbers were not accurate & that they again will be keeping my $86. I told her this is fraud & she knows it. & I will be putting a review on Yelp regarding this. She then changed up & said if I have an issue with the gratuity charge that I'll have to take it up with the massage employees as if they were a separate entity- which they may be but again, my credit card statement shows that it's "The Inn On First" that is charging me this $86 I responded to Celia by reminding her that this is HER BUSINESS & that she should be the one to resolve this! She responded by basically stating it's not her problem. Absolute fraud! We were intending on coming back and to this place soon but they lost our business & I'll be disputing this charge with my credit card company. CELIA YOU NEED BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE SKILLS. We got champagne at check in along with fantastic cookies. The room was well appointed with a fireplace and private hot tub in room. The shower too was spacious, clean, and powerful. Overall the place checked all the boxes and then some. The breakfast was over and above our expectations. Fresh fruit and a delicious homemade muffin to start. Cold juices and hot coffee. Yogurt and granola. All before the menu comes out with a custom made hot breakfast. My wife got avocado toast and I got an omelette. Both came with house made potatoes and mine had an option for a variety of toasts to choose from. All delicious and a great way to start the day. Really grateful to have found this place and already thinking about when we could go back. Also, perhaps most important, it's walkable to just about everything downtown, including the oxbow market and all the restaurants and shops in between, of which there are many.
