Exactly as advertised, my deadbolt broke on a Sunday night, no hardware stores open, and I saw these guys on Yelp. Available 24/7, they came out to Brooklyn about twenty minutes after I called and repaired my lock (which I thought was finished) in about ten minutes. Everything was taken care of within an hour of the problem occurring. Friendly, explained what was wrong and what had to be done, totally professional. I was fully prepared to buy a new deadbolt and have it installed but Jay said it wasn't necessary and instead fixed the existing one at a cheaper price. read more

Lockbusters is the best! I called when I was locked INSIDE my apartment due to a faulty lock, and within 30 minutes he was at my door and had me out in about 5 minutes. Awesome. And he was nice as pie! I would rate them higher if I could. You rarely get that kind of service combined with such personality. Thanks so much! read more

Amazing. Jay went above and beyond what most people would do. After changing my locks in the blink of an eye and charging a phenomenally low rate, I realized that I needed 2 extra keys for my roomates. I called Jay asking if he knew anywhere I could make a copy. Everywhere seemed to be closed for key copying so he came back and changed the locks again to fit a lock that he had 4 keys to. And he didn't charge me. Unreal how nice and cool he was. Makes me almost want to lose my keys so I can Lockbusters again. read more

I chose Lockbusters after reading glowing reviews about them on Yelp and I wasn't disappointed in the least. We had a problematic lock that had locked us out of our apartment twice. Scott immediately assessed the problem and fixed it quickly. Before wrapped up, he noticed the bottom bolt also wasn't working properly (something we'd noticed but saw as just an annoyance). He explained what the problem was, how he could fix it, and quoted me a price on the spot. He ran out to get the part we needed, was back in a flash, worked quickly and installed a whole new bolt. He even swept up after. Really impressed with Scott's knowledge, professionalism and how quickly he worked. I also love that Lockbusters donates old locks to animal shelters (or in our case, to families who are rebuilding their homes in Vermont post-Hurricane Irene). That impressed me even more. I highly recommend them and would use them again. read more

Short Version: If you need a locksmith, call Lockbusters! Jay was so nice, fast and I paid the exact quoted price despite having a very difficult lock (Jay was also very nice about that as well considering how much extra effort he had to put into it to get it off)! He was very professional and I was completely comfortable while he worked on my lock (since I am a woman living alone, this was very important). He explained what he was doing as he fixed my lock and never once pressured me into getting any unnecessary fixes. I could pay by credit card and he emailed me a receipt and also offered to send me a more detailed one if I needed it for my landlord (who was paying for the service). I totally recommend Lockbusters! Long Version: I just moved into a new apartment and somehow the lock on the front door could be set to lock me *into* my apartment! Imagine my surprise when I was moving in and suddenly found myself locked in with the only set of keys! (Luckily, I was able to toss my keys out the window to a friend on the street who let me out!) After trying to find a reasonably priced locksmith in my area with good reviews and coming up empty, I came across Lockbusters. I have to say *all the great reviews are totally deserved!* I used the form on their website and got a call the next morning from Jay and set up an appointment. Since I left a very detailed description of my problem, he was able to tell me the possible issues and fixes and the max price I would have to pay (including all parts and labor). He came on time for the appointment (he actually called to say he'd be a few minutes late due to a broken parking meter outside my apartment, but he was literally only about 3 minutes late! I really appreciated the call anyway!!) and fixed it all very quickly all while explaining what he was doing. He never once pressured me into having more done on the lock than was needed and even recommended that I not use the auto-lock button (which is the one that locks your door behind you when you leave and the source of probably 90% of his business) because he didn't want me to get locked out! I also got a new set of keys included in the price. I would DEFINITELY recommend Lockbusters to my friends and family members. I was really dreading having to let some stranger into my apartment and I was worried about overpaying someone who would take advantage of the fact that I know nothing about locks. I'm SO glad I found Lockbusters! What a relief to know I have a reliable and professional locksmith I can call (plus someone who I genuinely liked chatting with)! Thanks Jay!! read more

Exactly as advertised - highly professional technician came on time and for the advertised price. Whole job was finished in 20 minutes. Highly recommended. read more

This is proof that you shouldn't call any service provider without checking Yelp first. Saw the reviews on Luckbusters and prayed they would service Brooklyn (they did). My Medico lock became misaligned and we knocked it clear off when we slammed the door. Called Lockbusters. They are, courteous, professional and honest (yes, I said HONEST) and did't take advantage of someone because they were in a vulnerable position. I recently had a locksmith after we evicted a tenant and they took full advantage of us. Wish I would have known about this place at that time. Thanks Lockbusters! read more

The Best Bar None!!! I wish all businesses would run as efficiently as Lockbusters. Jay has been to my residence twice to repair and replace locks and each time he's been punctual, professional, friendly and super fast. No hassles, no problems....keeps my day going right! Thanks so much and keep up the great work! read more

Fast, efficient, (relatively) cheap, and to make things better, Jay is a super nice guy - he'll even walk you through what he's doing, step by step. A great experience! read more

Called Lockbusters to have my deadbolt changed. 15 minutes later, Mike, a friendly, honest, and helpful guy arrived at my door. Mike explained that my door wasn't in great shape, and actually convinced me to buy a cheaper lock than the one I originally requested. 5 minutes later, the new lock was installed. If you've ever dealt with other locksmiths, you may have felt pressured to buy something you didn't need. That won't happen with these guys. They're honest, and the feeling that you weren't put through the wringer is priceless. They even gave me a New Years gift basket. Seriously? A+++ read more

I needed a lock changed due to roommate issues and was worried about price and availability since it was a holiday weekend. I sent him a quick pic of the lock. Jay arrived quickly, worked quickly and the price was nice. He also gave me a really nice holiday gift which was unexpected. No one ever wants to need a locksmith but if I ever need another one, Lockbusters will be the first call that I make. Awesome. read more

Efficient, Cost-Effective, and Professional Jay came to my rescue this morning shortly after I learned my crazy ol' ex roommate had copied my keys. He was quick to respond (even in Brooklyn), actually on time, and had my locks changed in under 30 minutes. Amazing! read more

Just got my lock fixed & deadbolt installed by Jay-great experience. (weird saying that about being locked out, i know) He was quick, professional & honest: trifecta! Ive heard so many horror stories about locksmiths but the reviews about Jay are true: he's just a professional guy who knows his job, and is friendly and trustworthy enough to give you real advice over making a quick buck. ( he fixed my key which was stuck in my door & told me i could live without the deadbolt. No pressuring or fear) Support businesses like this (i joined yelp to write this review! yes I'm very happy to be back in my apt.) and if god forbid you get locked out-CALL JAY read more

Jay was great! I called him in the morning and he was able to come to Queens the same day to help us. We have had a broken door knob for months and a terrible Super that keeps "fixing" it. After my fifth time that the doorknob fell out, I decided to contact Jay after all his great Yelp reviews. And he lived up to them all! Upon calling him, he asked me to send him a picture of the doorknob, explaining that many of the doorknobs in Queens are old and he may not have the right parts for them (very true). He advised me that if he didn't think he could fix it he would refer us to someone else in the area. I found this to be very honest and helpful. Luckily, he was able to help us! He was thorough, professional, and fast and very reasonably priced. I would use him again and recommended him to anyone in need of a locksmith. read more

Just had Arthur help out tonight with my apartment in SoHo. Called up and a nice girl answered the phone, was told an ETA. Arthur showed up really professional and nice. They came up to my door, within like 2 minutes opened it without damaging the lock. $99 later (plus $29 night time fee, totally fair) I'm home and will definitely recommend them. Thanks again guys. read more

Quick, courteous, professional, and at least $20 less than the other locksmith I called would've charged. Turned a bad experience -- the accidental lockout -- into a pleasant surprise. Now I know exactly who to call if it happens again. read more

Super smooth through out. Set up a quick appointment within 5 minutes. They came within the hour, and the lock was fixed after 10 minutes. Isaac is the man. They are a must-use ! read more

I had a really wonderful experience with Lockbusters and would definitely recommend them. I needed to have two deadbolts installed. Jay was extremely accommodating in setting up an appointment. Given that they were really busy on Saturday, he agreed to send one of his guys on Sunday, free of additional charge. Scott was great. He showed up on time, worked efficiently, answered our questions, was very thorough, and did a nice job cleaning up. We definitely felt confident in Scott's work and will call him if we have need anything else. read more

Jay was great! He was really nice and helped me and the non-profit I work for, when I accidentally locked our storage cabinet with the key inside of it. He arrived quickly and got the lock open in no time. Extremely helpful, friendly, and definitely recommend. Thanks! read more

I mean this guy is INCREDIBLE. He came on a Saturday morning, right on time, fixed the locks, taught me about pet stem cell therapy, and was as nice as a person could be. I would hire him again in a NY minute. AND, all his tips go to Animal Haven. Seriously, if you need a locksmith, do not look any further. This is your guy. Thank you Jay! read more

I needed to change the locks on our new apartment and decided to try Lockbusters based on their high Yelp rating, and I was not disappointed. Jay responded immediately to my inquiry and took the time to discuss the type of lock appropriate to my needs, gave me a clear price for the lock I chose, scheduled an appointment, then came and installed my new locks all in a timely manner. Jay was proactive, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. When he was delayed due to weather he alerted me right away and was in contact up until the time he arrived to do the job. I highly recommend this skilled and highly professional locksmith. read more

Jay from Lockbusters was awesome. He called, came on time, gave me a number of reasonable options and did the work on the spot-and he was super friendly and courteous to boot. I was really impressed by his honesty and professionalism and would definitely use him again! read more

Jay is absolutely outstanding. What more could you want from a locksmith than punctuality, honesty and very reasonable prices? A true standout in a business populated by shady characters. Jay at Lockbusters is the most straightforward and honest locksmith to ever work in nyc. Not only did he come to my apartment and do the not quite emergency job in less than 90 minutes he followed up with me to make sure everything was working well. If you need the services of a locksmith you can get a straightforward price directly from jay that he follows through on. Plus his prices are significantly more reasonable than any locksmith I have ever used in my life. I will never use another locksmith again or let any of my friends. The reviews on this site pretty much say it all...There is no need to keep looking. read more

What more can I say about Jay and this company that hasn't already be said? First I'd say they deserve the praise. They bring a great mix of professionalism and friendly customer service to a business that can be emotionally and economically charged for the customer. Working with Jay I felt like I was getting a good deal while also doing a good job protecting my apt. I replaced two front door locks, and discussed some other apt security features to consider. Jay even talked through the philosophy of the door lock with me and gave me some insight into how he could best serve my needs. He brings options for the hardware, and installs it in no time. I could go on but by now you should have gotten the idea! Will call again for my next job. Thanks again. read more

This is my 2nd time using Jay and his services. Jay is so responsive, does his homework (requests pictures of the door via text beforehand so that he can recommend the best lock given the door material etc), communicates well about his timing, and is just a really nice guy. He installed a deadbolt a few years ago and when I needed another, he was the first person I called. You just feel like you're dealing with an honest operator, he gives fair prices, is very knowledgeable about locks and security and cleans up after himself. Thanks Jay! read more

I can't stress enough how amazing Jay was! Not only was he courteous, prompt, and professional, but when he found out that I had just come from volunteering with kids, he offered that he volunteers with animals. Happy to know that I got locked out of my apartment so some cute pups could get some help. read more

This company not only responds super fast, they are friendly and reasonable price for their turn around time. Highly recommend!

Courteous, fast, professional. Feel much more secure knowing I have a multilock now. A+++

We have used the services of Jacob and Lockbusters three times; for our individual apartments and for our business. Jacob was prompt, efficient, exceptionally nice and with a better price than any of his competitors. He is a model 21st century internet business and someone who we completely respect. If you are in need of a locksmith in the NYC area I have absolutely no doubt you will be hard pressed to find someone better than Lockbusters. read more

People, there's a reason why Lockbusters receives consistent five star reviews. In fact, there are three of them: they're FAST, RELIABLE, and, most importantly, HONEST. My two-year-old kept playing with the bottom lock on our front door. And sure enough, it broke. I went on to Yelp and called Lockbusters. Jay called me back pretty quickly. I explained my problem and asked if he could give me a quote. He asked me to text him a photo, and within minutes he gave me a price. Turns out I have a mortise lock, which is pretty expensive to replace, so Jay said he'd send someone who'd do his best to repair it. (Jay was working in Queens for the day). I told him I had a tight schedule because I had to pick up my kids. It wasn't a problem. Scott arrived 30 minutes earlier than expected. He took the lock off and found the problem in about five minutes flat. Sure enough, the spring in the lock broke from all that twisting my son did. Scott had some bad news and good news. The bad new was the company that makes the mortise lock doesn't sell replacement springs (which means I'd have to buy a new lock for about $400). The good news, however, was that Scott was talented enough to make a spring from a piece of metal in his bag! It took a lot of work--I'm talking about two hours worth--for Scott to get the spring to finally work. At some point, I thought he was gonna give up and I'd have to buy a new one. But Scott was so determined to help me! During the whole time we had a great chat about what it takes to become a locksmith (did you know it required nine months of schooling?), as well as how shady some locksmiths can be. Anyway, after numerous attempts at getting the spring to work, it finally did. Scott tested and retested it. He opened the door and slammed it a few times for good measure. He locked himself out and opened it a few times. He kept doing all this over and over until it finally worked! But wait, the story gets better. In the back of my mind, I'm thinking the bill's gonna be a freaking nightmare after he spent over 1.5 hours on my lock. But guess what? It was the exact same price Jay quoted earlier! Scott took my credit card details and emailed my receipt. I'd like to say thanks to Jay and Scott for doing such a great job. I even passed their number onto my Super cause that's how great they are. BTW, Scott laid down a piece of plastic and placed all his tools and the lock on it so it wouldn't scratch my wooden floors. read more

YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING! Excellent and prompt service...you just know how to do the job right! Scott, thank you so much for all your help! You helped me saved my parakeet when it was trapped all alone in the apartment for two days! Jay, thank you for starting this business and even a bigger thank you for sending Scott to help!! Trust me Yelpers, these guys know what they're doing and for such an incredible price, why go anywhere else?!? TRY THEM OUT! I'm SERIOUS! read more

Two weeks ago my building was robbed. Fortunately, Jay installed gates on my windows one month earlier. Jay's gates saved my apartment! Every other apartment on my side of the floor was ransacked. Jay's prices were unbeatable. Additionally, he is friendly, professional, and has a very quick turnaround time, even on substantial projects like custom fitted gates. I would never use a different locksmith. read more

Jay is absolutely FANTASTIC. I messaged him on Yelp, after reading countless gushing reviews about his awesomeness and professionalism. I messaged Jay looking to book his services within 5 days to coincide with my apartment move. Jay was completely flexible and was able to fit me in. I needed Jay to help me feel secure in my new apartment, as I was concerned that the single lock on the door would not leave me feeling safe enough. Jay had me text him photos of the door ahead of time so he could recommend the best locks, and told me he would bring them with him to the appointment. I happened to have been at Home Depot already, so Jay sent me exactly what lock I should buy, and told me he would bring a second with him. Jay is also extremely professional; while he arrived late to our appointment, at no fault of his own (bad traffic - IT HAPPENS), he apologized profusely and kept me constantly updated on his proximity. Upon arrival, Jay was was personable and it felt like I was hanging out with an old friend. While we bonded over both being from New Jersey, Jay talked me through the entire installation, ensuring me I would be in great shape and completely secure once he was through. Jay got the job done with precision, was extremely fairly priced (maybe too fair!) and is also such a likable human being. I would throw additional business his way any day. Jay is seriously the best. (Thank you, Jay!!!!!) read more

Super stressful day. A different dog walker locked our bolt, which our usual dog walker knows not to do. I don't have a copy of the bolt key (because we never use it!!) went all the way uptown to find unknown dog walker in the dark an cold and rain. Get key, get all the way back down town - ITS NOT OUR KEY!!! My neighbor gave us the # to this locksmith. They were SUPER responsive. The dispatcher picked up on the first ring, locksmith called me back in less than 2 minutes, at my door in about 15 minutes. Drilled the lock and installed a new one in about 10minutes. Yeah it cost a lot but from what I understand, less than other places. Plus they were nice to my dog, who was going bananas :) read more
