Losing your keys can be SUPER annoying, what's worse.. when you lock yourself out of your house! I was visiting a friend from out of town and made the mistake of locking myself out! Jay is absolutely FANTASTIC. I messaged him on Yelp, after reading countless gushing reviews about his awesomeness and professionalism. I messaged Jay looking to book his services within 5 days to coincide with my apartment move. Jay was completely flexible and was able to fit me in. I needed Jay to help me feel secure in my new apartment, as I was concerned that the single lock on the door would not leave me feeling safe enough. Jay had me text him photos of the door ahead of time so he could recommend the best locks, and told me he would bring them with him to the appointment. I happened to have been at Home Depot already, so Jay sent me exactly what lock I should buy, and told me he would bring a second with him. Jay is also extremely professional; while he arrived late to our appointment, at no fault of his own (bad traffic - IT HAPPENS), he apologized profusely and kept me constantly updated on his proximity. Upon arrival, Jay was was personable and it felt like I was hanging out with an old friend. While we bonded over both being from New Jersey, Jay talked me through the entire installation, ensuring me I would be in great shape and completely secure once he was through. Super stressful day. A different dog walker locked our bolt, which our usual dog walker knows not to do. I don't have a copy of the bolt key (because we never use it!!) went all the way uptown to find unknown dog walker in the dark an cold and rain. Get key, get all the way back down town - ITS NOT OUR KEY!!! My neighbor gave us the # to this locksmith. They were SUPER responsive. The dispatcher picked up on the first ring, locksmith called me back in less than 2 minutes, at my door in about 15 minutes. Drilled the lock and installed a new one in about 10minutes. Yeah it cost a lot but from what I understand, less than other places. Plus they were nice to my dog, who was going bananas :) read more

I emailed them in the morning and the owner Jon emailed me right back, saying that they were super busy but they would try to squeeze me in. And that they did. His colleague Jon showed up. I just had Jay in to change out a badly installed, cheapo front door lock that failed completely this morning, and it was as good an experience as his Yelp rating suggests. He gave me some information and options, no upsell pressure, arrived exactly when he said he would, and did the job quickly but was not at all rushed. He was friendly, polite, clean, and clearly knew what he was doing. And quoting a fair, flat rate and sticking to it was unexpected and refreshing. I don't normally write reviews but I was so impressed by the service I figured I had to share. Found Lockbusters on yelp because of their rave reviews, loved that they displayed prices online, and after writing then about setting up an appointment, Jay replied almost immediately and we set up an appointment for the next day. Jay showed up on time (actually 3 min early) and went to work. Apparently my door has some issues because it is crooked but Jay made it work and reassured me that it was still super safe. Price was exactly what was displayed online so there were no surprises. I would 100% recommend them to anyone, Lockbusters are the BEST!!!! read more

I want to write this review to express the outstanding service I received from Jay. He is a true locksmith and very professional. I had 3 locks to change when I first moved into my home and Jay could have easily told me that those 3 locks needed replacing, but instead, he told me that he could save me some money by merely changing the combination inside the locks. Lock replacements would have been so expensive, and Jay saved me the additional expense (big bucks). I really appreciated it. Also, all 3 locks on my door were unstable, and after Jay was done, my locks were very sturdy. And I needed an additional key, which Jay dropped off at my building the following week. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Lockbusters had previously worked on our lock, so when the key was sticking, I thought to call back. After leaving my contact information with dispatch, and NOT hearing back for two days, i decided to follow up. Jay was disrespectful and upset that i didn't have a copy of the receipt or picture of the lock from the previous time we hired him. When i asked him if he could look up our information with the client name and address, he was condescending and told me that it would take too long for him to do it that way. He also advised that if I didn't hear back from him, it was because our lock was not under warranty so we could go find another locksmith to fix it. In reality, it took only 3 min for him to find our records based on my phone number (so not long at all), but by that time, I had already taken his advice and found another locksmith who was cooperative and happy to work with me. I'm going to echo all the positives reviews on the site which prompted me to make the call to Lockbusters in the first place. Just to be sure, I called around and was quoted higher prices for the same service. They let me know up front what cost of replacing versus repair would be. Not knowing anything of locks- I was prepared to pay the replacement cost because mine was pretty jacked up. Jay left me confident that a fix was all that was needed- actually showed me what the problem was- and I got out of it for less than I expected to pay. In a trade where I suspect most contractors could get away with up-charging for their services they had no interest in doing that. He offered a warranty on the service and I was confident enough in the company's integrity that I told them I'd call back if there was a problem and feel like I'd be handled fairly. read more

My roommate calls me on a Friday night that he is locked out, and his key is stuck in our door. I'm not that far away, so I rush home to help him out. Turns out, the cylinder in our apartment's lock gave out and it was at the end of it's life. Frantic, with little phone battery left, I searched for locksmiths on Yelp. Everywhere was closed, but Lockbusters came up as 24 hrs. I called, a guy picked up and said that it would take about an hour to come by because they were having a busy night, I said okay. He came in 40 minutes (early!), and was super nice. Named Jay. He also brought along his girlfriend / "boss" Jen, and they he fixed the problem in a snap. Super awesome service. Right after he left I noticed an issue with the lock so I called him up real quick to tell him about it, and he came back in 5 minutes and re-tightened everything to make sure there were no more issues. Jay and Jen definitely went above and beyond for me and I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a locksmith. 100% recommended. read more

I called Lockbusters based on the reviews I read here. I emailed Jay first, but he didn't see my email, so I called. He was very nice. He apologized for not seeing the email, and asked me to give him the information and send pictures of my locks by email. I wanted to change a lock in the apartment I have just moved into. I wasn't in a hurry, so we fixed an appointment, and on the day we had said, he came on time, was very nice, changed one of the locks for a good price and was just very professional and nice. Real great service. I was locked outside with a broken door-lock, they came relatively fast, as fast as I could imagine in a such situation actually: about 30 min. They were very professional.
