These guys are LOCK NINJAS. They have their craft down, especially for busy New Yorkers. I emailed them in the morning and the owner Jon emailed me right back, saying that they were super busy but they would try to squeeze me in. And that they did. His colleague Jon showed up. He was friendly, knowledgeable and unbelievably quick. Within 10 minutes I had a brand new mortise lock for just $99 plus tax. Can't beat the price or service. No need to go to any other locksmith. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Thanks Lockbusters!!!! read more

Jay was a lifesaver today!! If you need a locksmith, call Lockbusters/Jay - don't even waste your time looking around!! I was compelled to write my first ever (!) Yelp review because I had such a positive experience with Jay. Similar to all of the other rave reviews -- Jay was extremely responsive, kind and professional. I reached out to Jay because I needed a locksmith and he was recommended by my landlord. I had put out feelers for quotes after Googling a handful of other locksmiths, and didn't feel comfortable with their lack of transparency, outrageous pricing, etc. but fortunately Jay came to the rescue! He was unfortunately unable to come onsite to fix my lock, but generously offered to walk me through the easy repair once I described the situation. So nice of him, and I am truly grateful! I'm telling everyone in my network to call Jay/Lockbusters if they ever need a locksmith. I hope to not need Jay any time soon, but now I have a go-to locksmith in the city. Thanks again, Jay - you're the best! read more

I don't normally write reviews but I was so impressed by the service I figured I had to share. Found Lockbusters on yelp because of their rave reviews, loved that they displayed prices online, and after writing then about setting up an appointment, Jay replied almost immediately and we set up an appointment for the next day. Jay showed up on time (actually 3 min early) and went to work. Apparently my door has some issues because it is crooked but Jay made it work and reassured me that it was still super safe. Price was exactly what was displayed online so there were no surprises. I would 100% recommend them to anyone, Lockbusters are the BEST!!!! read more

I want to write this review to express the outstanding service I received from Jay. He is a true locksmith and very professional. I had 3 locks to change when I first moved into my home and Jay could have easily told me that those 3 locks needed replacing, but instead, he told me that he could save me some money by merely changing the combination inside the locks. Lock replacements would have been so expensive, and Jay saved me the additional expense (big bucks). I really appreciated it. Also, all 3 locks on my door were unstable, and after Jay was done, my locks were very sturdy. And I needed an additional key, which Jay dropped off at my building the following week. Reasonable prices, excellent service! I would definitely use Jay's services again!! read more

I'm going to echo all the positives reviews on the site which prompted me to make the call to Lockbusters in the first place. Just to be sure, I called around and was quoted higher prices for the same service. They let me know up front what cost of replacing versus repair would be. Not knowing anything of locks- I was prepared to pay the replacement cost because mine was pretty jacked up. Jay left me confident that a fix was all that was needed- actually showed me what the problem was- and I got out of it for less than I expected to pay. In a trade where I suspect most contractors could get away with up-charging for their services they had no interest in doing that. He offered a warranty on the service and I was confident enough in the company's integrity that I told them I'd call back if there was a problem and feel like I'd be handled fairly. read more

Wow! Jay was a total sweetheart and rather than sell me something, told me how to use pliers and wd-40 to fix my lock myself. SWOON.

Everything the reviews say about Jay is true. I needed my lock fixed, asked him (and a few others) through Yelp for an estimate, and he responded promptly, made an appointment, and was in and out like clockwork. Or 'lockwork.' He even *lowered* the estimate when he scoped out what was needed. Great guy, clearly knows his stuff, and just a pleasure to deal with. read more

Jay is awesome! He installed two locks for my small business and was so friendly and courteous. I will definitely use his services again!

He was super quick and opened my lock for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend

Wish I could rate this 10 stars. a+ communication throughout the entire process, clear and affordable pricing, flexible scheduling- could not ask for more. Highly recommended. read more

My roommate calls me on a Friday night that he is locked out, and his key is stuck in our door. I'm not that far away, so I rush home to help him out. Turns out, the cylinder in our apartment's lock gave out and it was at the end of it's life. Frantic, with little phone battery left, I searched for locksmiths on Yelp. Everywhere was closed, but Lockbusters came up as 24 hrs. I called, a guy picked up and said that it would take about an hour to come by because they were having a busy night, I said okay. He came in 40 minutes (early!), and was super nice. Named Jay. He also brought along his girlfriend / "boss" Jen, and they he fixed the problem in a snap. Super awesome service. Right after he left I noticed an issue with the lock so I called him up real quick to tell him about it, and he came back in 5 minutes and re-tightened everything to make sure there were no more issues. Jay and Jen definitely went above and beyond for me and I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a locksmith. 100% recommended. read more

I called Lockbusters based on the reviews I read here. I emailed Jay first, but he didn't see my email, so I called. He was very nice. He apologized for not seeing the email, and asked me to give him the information and send pictures of my locks by email. I wanted to change a lock in the apartment I have just moved into. I wasn't in a hurry, so we fixed an appointment, and on the day we had said, he came on time, was very nice, changed one of the locks for a good price and was just very professional and nice. I will definitely call him again if I have any problem or if I need a new lock. read more

Jay was awesome! Fair prices, excellent work, good communication. What more could you want? Seriously, if you need a locksmith in New York, don't even think about calling anyone else. read more

Nothing but compliments for Jay and Lockbusters! I called Jay a few weeks ago to set up a deadbolt at our studio and he was extremely helpful-and funny-on the phone. We had a request for a matte black deadbolt and he went above and beyond to meet this request! No hidden fees, what you read on the website is what you pay. Jay came to the studio the day after our phone call and was very professional while installing the deadbolt. He is very charismatic and he clearly knows what he's doing. Excellent service PLUS he's a dog lover so even more reason to hire them. read more

Jay was amazing. He gave me a time frame that he would be arriving and texted me 20 minutes prior to his arrival to let me know he was on his way. He addressed issues with my locks and on one door didn't just change the lock for me because it wouldn't have helped. He recommended a safer solution and I appreciate that very much. He took the time to answer all my questions and explain what he was doing. A real pleasure to work with. Thanks Jay! read more

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Lockbusters had previously worked on our lock, so when the key was sticking, I thought to call back. After leaving my contact information with dispatch, and NOT hearing back for two days, i decided to follow up. Jay was disrespectful and upset that i didn't have a copy of the receipt or picture of the lock from the previous time we hired him. When i asked him if he could look up our information with the client name and address, he was condescending and told me that it would take too long for him to do it that way. He also advised that if I didn't hear back from him, it was because our lock was not under warranty so we could go find another locksmith to fix it. In reality, it took only 3 min for him to find our records based on my phone number (so not long at all), but by that time, I had already taken his advice and found another locksmith who was cooperative and happy to work with me. Despite the other reviews, I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Wow. Just fantastic. Gave me the best rate of the 6 places I called. Came in on time, done in 10 minutes. Super professional, super charming. Would highly recommend seeing him. Not only was he adept at his job, but he also was willing to take the time to explain the ins and outs of locks to me and how to keep my apartment safe. Thanks so much Jay! read more

They key to my retail shop broke off in the lock last week. Jay came the next morning and got it right out. We are a non-profit and Jay insisted on donating his services that morning. This type of person/business is extremely rare in NYC. THANK YOU! read more

We had recently moved and needed a fire gate for our kitchen window and a new deadbolt for the front door. After doing some research online for recommended locksmiths I sprang into action and started the screaming. Then I discovered yelp...I called Lockbusters, spoke to Jay and he came round the same day to measure for a fire gate. He installed the gate and lock with the minimum of fuss and mess. He charged exactly what had been agreed. He was fast, professional and polite. All this and intelligent conversation too. He's an absolute stoatir as we say where I come from.Luckily for the people of nyc, he is using his power for good read more

I live in Bushwick, and i was locked out on a friday night, no one else I called in Brooklyn was answering there phones, and these guys were more than considerate on the phone, they did the best they could to get to me as fast as possible, even though they don't normally make that kind of trek to Bushwick. And for a great price too! I really appreciate this service, and would recommend it to everyone and anyone, these guys were exceptional. read more

Losing your keys can be SUPER annoying, what's worse.. when you lock yourself out of your house! I was visiting a friend from out of town and made the mistake of locking myself out! Considering I'm about 100+ miles from home, I was anxious to find a way in. I stumbled across Lockbusters and upon reading the reviews, decided to give it try. No lie, I contacted Lockbusters via phone, left a vm with my info and within ten minutes I received a text, requesting my location and how many doors needed to be unlocked. Jay arrived within 20 minutes and unlocked the door in less than 3 minutes. Such a smooth, seamless transaction, I was literally in awe at how quickly he arrived and opened the door. I couldn't ask for a better outcome to a pretty annoying situation. Thanks Lockbusters!! read more

Never write reviews but this business deserves it. Quick, friendly, helpful, affordable.

maybe the scale is skewed a bit since most locksmiths are rip off artists, but these guys are truly great. 10:30 pm on a saturday night, no one else answering their phone. Tried Lockbusters and about 40 minutes later the whole thing was rectified. Organized, skilled, fair price. good business. read more

I just had Jay in to change out a badly installed, cheapo front door lock that failed completely this morning, and it was as good an experience as his Yelp rating suggests. He gave me some information and options, no upsell pressure, arrived exactly when he said he would, and did the job quickly but was not at all rushed. He was friendly, polite, clean, and clearly knew what he was doing. And quoting a fair, flat rate and sticking to it was unexpected and refreshing. When I started looking for a locksmith this morning, I was honestly expecting to spend more for worst service. I would recommend Jay and Lockbusters very, very highly. read more

Never thought I could feel strongly about what locksmith to use. But after having experienced the laid back, cool, efficient professionalism of Jay at Lockbusters, I can't imagine using anyone else. He seems to always answer the phone and be available. Best customer service experience I have had in New York. There was an error in communication for my appointment but Jay made sure that I still received my lock installation as soon as possible. He also noticed a poor installation of the lock with missing screws by my landlord and made sure to correct the issue and replace the screws.
