Wish I had found these guys sooner. Jay gave me a shiny new deadbolt for a great price after my apartment was broken into a week prior (and the original lock replaced by a shady guy who charged me twice what the thing was worth). Redeeming a scummy profession seems an admirable thing to take on. He also SWEPT MY FLOOR. I swoon. Thanks, Jay! read more

Jay was amazing. He returned my call immediately, fixed the problem and was so affordable. I can't recommend them enough!

LockBusters is fantastic! I locked myself out of my apt on the weekend. I waited an hour for my landlord. When he finally showed up, he brought the wrong key! So I called LockBusters. It only took them 15min to get to my apt in the pouring rain. They opened my door in less than 10min. It cost $85, which is sort of expensive. However, I probably would have paid more. They were really nice and accommodating. I highly recommend them if you're in a bind! read more

I found Lockbusters on Yelp, went to their site, thought their pricing was fair. When I called to set up my appointment Jay was professional and accomodating. He showed up exactly on time for our appointment. He assessed my buildings' doors and the door to my apartment (he said they were really good locks on the street doors and my apartment door was "serious" -- metal on metal, hard to break-in). I had him install a new deadbolt on my apartment door, which he did quickly and professionally. He answered a few other key-making questions, charged me the flat-rate visible on the website, gave me his card, thanked me for the business, and was on his way. I would recommend calling Jay for any locksmith needs. He was extremely professional, knowledgable and his prices seemed fair. read more

Jay was amazing. We were locked out of our apartment in north Brooklyn on a Friday night at midnight, with landlord and super out of town and unavailable to help us. Jay came within an hour, and unlocked the door in less than fifteen minutes (or more precisely, drilled through the heavy metal door and removed the malfunctioning lock). Very nice, very professional, would call him again in a heartbeat. read more

Super helpful. I locked myself out while doing laundry, checked their website (lock-picking: $59 day/79 nights and weekends), called, and a friendly smith was there within 10 minutes. He got the lock undone in about 8 minutes, had a quick form ready, and was off. Put their phone number in your cell. read more

I found Lockbusters through Yelp and it was easily the best experience I've had with a locksmith so far in my life. Fellow named Scott showed up right on time and did a fantastic job leaving me with a better lock that was more well installed than I'd had before. It was a more labor intensive job than it could have been and he did the work admirably and I was charged the same rate discussed from the start. I cant envision having a better experience with a locksmith really, and I would recommend Lockbusters to anyone I know who would need a locksmith. read more

Fast, friendly and got the job done. I needed a new deadbolt in my door and found this place on yelp. They had great availability for the install and were right on time (literally arrived at 2 PM on the dot). Scott did the installation and went over my options without trying to up sell me. He explained which deadbolt was the best for my kind of door, existing lock and type of building and then quickly went to work. An hour later it was done and now I have a shiny new lock, two new keys and a better sense of security. read more

Recently moved into new digs and needed my locks changed. Was hard not to go with these guys given the rave reviews. I called, Jay picked up, went over my options (high security lock for $149 and cylinder change for $79). Seemed reasonable so made an appointment for the next morning. Guy showed up (not Jay) and he handed me his card when he arrived to verify who he was with. Changed my locks within a half hour and was very friendly and answered all my questions. With the extra set of keys and paying in cash, came out to about $250. Felt the service was good, and more importantly, it was friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend to others! I do hesitate to give the 5th star because I ended up having to keep my original top lock deadbolt but the cylinder was switched out. Not sure if I should've been charged for the full $149 then, I didn't think about it til after the guy left... read more

This guy was fantastic. Very reasonably priced, very quick and professional and, as an extra, I got my door realigned (I never even knew it was not properly aligned, but I realized it was better afterwards) and I got some safety tips. Definitely the go-to guy for locksmith services in the area. read more

These guys really are the best. Yelp's not lying. Came exactly on time, cut off my Kryptonite bike lock pretty quickly once we found a power source for the electric drill/saw. Cleaned up everything and even offered to give my neighbor a coupon for services after she let us use her electric outlet (mine was too far from the bike). SO NICE & GENUINE. Would not hesitate to come back to them. Really very impressed. They'll even take a credit card by swiping it on their phone :) read more

Honest dude, good service and thats the way business should be done. Thanks Jay read more

Jay is my hero, he was on time, honest, and professional!!!!!!!

It's all true. You should call Lockbusters. My apartment door lock stopped locking -- which meant I couldn't leave the apartment until I got it fixed. I found Lockbusters here on Yelp and, at first, I was skeptical that a guy could yield nothing but 5 star reviews. But I was wrong. Jay is amazing. He moved his schedule around to accommodate me once he heard it was urgent. He kept the price down by repairing the lock instead of just ripping it out and installing a whole new one (which he easily could have done). He explained everything he was doing in simple, understandble terms. He gave me the busted part and a detailed receipt to show to my landlord in case I could get reimbursed. And he did it all with incredible poise and courteousness. Jay (the guy in the video) has been in business with this company for three years and has a team of two full time guys and two part-timers helping him. Lockbusters is the epitome of small, local, owner-operated businesses. And they're doing a superb job. Please support them. read more

Amazing! Jay set me up with a new lock when I needed it most: Top lock stuck and main lock falling apart, and the super was supposed to have it fixed today, but never showed. I was in a bad place and Jay came through. On the phone, he listened to me and quoted me accurately and clearly. Once he came in the apartment, it was clear the right man had showed up. In less than a minute Jay told me the problem, solution, and cost. Jay is about authentically warm and honest a guy as I've ever met. I am really happy I went with Lockbusters! read more

Look no further if you need a locksmith for ANY reason. My deadbolt had been sticking for a while, but with a little jiggle of the key it would eventually wiggle loose. Every time I told myself: gotta call a locksmith. I've had deadbolts bust before and been locked out, and there is no way I wanted that to happen to me in the middle of the night. Well, it almost did. Came home one night and the lock would not budge. Luckily my BF was home and let me in from the inside, but the lock was definitely on its last leg. Searched on Yelp for a locksmith and ran across Lockbusters. The reviews were unanimous in how wonderful this place was, so I figured I would go with them. The flat fee pricing was also attractive - no hidden fees. Spoke to Jay, who was super friendly. He listened to my explanation of what was going on, and quoted a variety of (flat fee) prices depending on what he found was going on with my lock when he got here - whether it was just the cylinder or the entire mechanism. It was nice to know up front what my max cost would be worst case scenario. We booked an appointment over Labor day weekend and I was all set. Day of appt Jay shows up, fully prepared with whatever tools he might need, and my deadbolt cylinder was replaced in 15min flat. No joke. This guy is fast, polite, friendly and the whole time informative of what he was doing. He even took a few minutes to sand down the door jam in case that was causing some sticking (although we were pretty sure it was the cylinder). Little attention to details like that is what makes you appreciate good, thorough service. He even takes credit cards on his handy dandy iPhone swiper. Thanks Jay! read more

Jay is great! Very professional, courteous, and thoughtful to clients needs. There is only one locksmith in New York City in my mind, and it's Lockbusters. ;) read more

I almost never write reviews but Jay was so great and professional that I couldn't help it. A highly quality service combined with a very friendly person - a true win. Thanks so much! read more

I have used Lockbusters several times and, like their service so much that I created an account just so i could review them. Their prices are very reasonable, and Jay goes out of his way to make sure everything is just right. He is highly skilled and personable, a great combination! I will not use anyone else for my locksmithing needs. read more

Unbelievable service! Fast, friendly, simple and easy! I'd highly recommend anytime and would definitely use them again. 5 stars all around!

I just moved into a new apartment and needed a new lock. I called Jay on saturday and he came by Sunday morning. He did the job fast and was courteous and professional. He even threw in a few extra parts that I need for my lock free of charge. Thanks Jay! read more

This guy's awesome. Came over tonight to install a deadbolt and didn't have the part we wanted because he ran out earlier in the day so the first thing he said was that he would be installing the higher quality one at no additional cost. Mind you that the higher quality deadbolt is more expensive by $100. That's such a rarity in NYC. Such a good guy. I would actually want to be friends with him. Hope to have him over next week to install new bedroom knobs. I should also two things that really impressed me: 1) this guy is totally by the books. I offered cash but he insisted that I pay with my credit card actually so that I would get miles :) 2) he doesn't try to upsell at all, or even "sell" at all. When I asked him for a quote for the bedroom knobs, he said I should get the equipment online instead of through him so it'd be cheaper then he'd just come install it for cheap. What a sweetheart!! Reminds me of Orlando Bloom, too. read more

We had Scott Darrow of Lockbusters open up an antique safe we had bought in a Paris flea market and he was amazing!! Not only did Scott miraculously open the safe (which was fully locked/bolted and jammed since it's really old from the early 1900s), but he's a really friendly guy who's truly interested in safes. The price was on par with other locksmiths in NYC and was actually even a bit better. It was a total of $299 plus tax and included an initial visit/consultation where he tried to open the safe, and then a return visit after we also got a second opinion from another locksmith, and we decided to go with Scott. Scott was also really responsive to emails, quick to reply, and even came on a Sunday night last-minute. The safe is still functioning and doesn't even look like it was drilled into! Amazing. I highly recommend Scott of Lockbusters and would definitely call him again if I ever have another safe issue. read more

I was locked out of my apartment this weekend and called Jay. He arrived within 5 minutes of when he said he would, was friendly, easy going and helpful. He opened my doors in a timely fashion and gave me a discount because he was already in the area. I would absolutely recommend him for any lock needs. read more

Great service, great price, great guy. You can't go wrong. Moving forward he will definitely be my first and only call any time I need a locksmith. read more

What a rockstar! Not your typical experience with the locksmith industry! Even just talking to Jay on the phone is reassuring: He is competent, professional and just a nice guy. When he arrived he had our lock open within 5 minutes - no drilling involved! Highly recommend Jay. Prices are average - but his service is exceptional. read more

Stop looking for locksmiths right now and just call these guys! I have never written a review on Yelp but I had to after meeting Jay. After having a series of really bad experiences with any sort of maintanence work: broken AC, broken locks, car repair, you name it, I was expecting the usually rude and 'uninterested-in-actually-helping-me' type of attitude when I had to get my front door lock repaired. But after even the first few seconds of even speaking with Jay on the phone I was instantly put to ease that I was in good and honest hands. I wish more companies could follow in the footprints of these guys. Great, quick, honest work from an obviously very very good soul. AND, he donates all of his tips to Sugar Mutts! Fast to reply to my inquiry, good price, great service, great communication and very friendly. Highly recommend!!

I called Lockbusters to help me with a digital lock on my bedroom. The battery died unexpectedly and I was locked out. Spoke to Jay who took charge and asked me to text a photo of the lock and the weblink. Instead of coming out to tell me that he could not unlock it, he told me where to buy the backup battery and sent me a link. He was upfront and honest. Will definitely call when I need a locksmith in the future. read more

Even though I ended up not using them, they were very nice on the phone and once I had texted the photos of the safe, they replied very quickly with an honest answer. They could have sold me a bill of goods, but they did not do that. Way to go, guys! read more

Jay is 100% the best. I needed a deadbolt lock installed in my door after an alarming occurrence at my apartment building. He came the same night I contacted him and did an awesome job. My dog was kind of poking around and he did a good job of being friendly with her while also keeping her safe and away from the metal shavings. I'm a single woman living alone and Jay made me feel safe and not at all uncomfortable having him be in my home. Locksmiths get a bad rap in NYC (usually for a good reason) but Jay and Lockbusters are awesome. I doubt I'll ever call another locksmith the rest of the time I live here. read more

Jay is incredible and now my go-to locksmith in New York! After seeing numerous reviews on Yelp for Lockbusters, I emailed their website for a quote on a deadbolt. After receiving a prompt email, Jay was able to schedule me for the next morning. He is extremely professional, respectful, kind, and knowledgable about what lock would work best for my door. Their prices are transparent with no hidden fees, so what you are quoted is what you'll pay (plus tax). I rarely write reviews on here, but Jay is completely worth it. read more

Jay is absolutely the only locksmith you need to know in NYC. He's the nicest, warmest, kindest human being and most importantly, an honest locksmith not trying to take advantage of people in difficult spots. He's really a blessing and a hero. A dog lover, too! Can't say enough nice things. Just a true gem!!! read more

Locked myself out of my bedroom on the way to work the other day, spend a little while on Yelp looking up locksmiths and doing some research into which was the most affordable. Lockbusters is EXCELLENT. I was able to schedule an appointment for 4:15, right as I get home from work and found the technician waiting in front of my house diligently. He popped the lock in less than 2 minutes while making conversation, charged me a flat $59 and we both went on our way. I don't want to have to use a locksmith ever again, but if I do, I'll go with these folks every time. A+ read more

Very polite. On time-(even offered to come a little earlier by phone) Prices are really reasonable. What else can you ask for. I highly recommend this guys service read more

I needed a locksmith quick and fast and found Jay!!! What an angel! So efficient, detail-oriented, honest, and very friendly. I also had a problem with my door shutting easily and he even fixed that! Amazing. I highly recommend him. read more

I never give five stars unless they really deserve it. Lockbusters deserves it. My negligent management company would not / could not send anyone to repair my lock so I was locked out of my place for 36 hours. Jay was over within 15-20 minutes, was nice as can be, fixed the lock within five minutes, explained what was wrong, and even wrote down exactly what he did on my receipt so I wouldn't have to worry about my miserable management company questioning the charge. Don't even think about using another locksmith - Jay / Lockbusters are the best. read more

We've been having roommate issues and needed a lock put on our bedroom door. We called Jay from Lockbusters at 2:00 am, and he was polite and courteous as we set up an appointment for the next day. I can't tell you how nice it is to interact with someone so genuinely nice and friendly. I will never call another locksmith - Jay's prices are more than fair (definitely the best you will find in the city by far) and he is very reliable. He also took the time to explain how my new lock worked. Lockbusters absolutely deserves 5 stars! read more

I could not be more satisfied! My roommates and I needed a change of locks (6 in total), and I called Lockbusters after seeing the excellent reviews they got. Jay showed up the next day and did a great job! Within 30 minutes he had changed all the locks, and we even had some great conversations about random stuff. All in all an excellent job, and the price was beyond acceptable. If you need help with your locks, I suggest you call Lockbusters! read more

I just got the keys to a new apartment, and wanted to add a second, top of the line lock and plate for maximum security. The managing agent for the building recommended another outfit. When I called they said they had to see the door in person before quoting me a price but gave me a ridiculous estimate of around $500. I was prepared to spend money, but this seemed inflated to me. I decided to check out other locksmiths on Yelp, and right away was impressed with the rave reviews for Lockbusters. I spoke with someone who said the locksmith would call me back shortly. I was immediately impressed with the fact that these guys post prices for various options on their website. It's all very clear and straightforward. Jay called me back within half an hour, and he was very professional and cordial. The prices seemed fair and there was no ambiguity. I immediately scheduled an appointment. Jay was punctual, he told me the existing deadbolt was perfectly usable, thereby saving me around 50 bucks over what I'd expected to spend. He did a great job and I'm a happy customer. I highly recommend Lockbusters. They were a pleasure to do business with. read more
