I needed a new lock. I called Lockbusters and could not have made a better choice. It is great to find an honest and capable locksmith. Jay arrived on time and did a great job. A real 5 star experience. read more

Lockbusters is an example of how good customer service, in any industry, can make someone's day.

Jay from Lockbusters was amazing. He was professional, friendly, and did the whole lock change in like 15 minutes. He talked to me throughout changing my locks, and explained everything to me as he was doing it. He told me funny anecdotes about his work, and really just brought a huge smile to my face. I'm so glad Lockbusters was available and that I found them on Yelp, huge score for New Yorkers. Thanks Jay, it was a pleasure meeting you! read more

Fast, friendly, effective, great service. Even fixed my doorknob too! HIGHLY recommend.

So easy, so fast. Jay was super quick to get back to me with my first inquiry. Came to my place the next day and was done in 5 minutes. Everything one would hope for getting a new lock installed. Highly recommend! read more

Jay is a lifesaver. He was able to get to me during the day (no prior appointment) as I had been locked in my apartment when my knob stopped catching to turn/ open. Super friendly and professional. Put in a much higher quality lock than before and was done in about 20 minutes. Would definitely recommend Lockbusters to anyone. I've had terrible experiences getting locked out of my apt in NYC and paying over $500 for someone to just let me in so this was a refreshing change! read more

Excellent and fast service. They are have flat rates and are up front about pricing. You can't find a better locksmith in the city!

Jay/Lockbusters responded quickly and came over to my apartment just as quickly. I had just come back from trip and I had left my keys at the place I was staying. So, I had no way to get into my apartment (it was 8 pm). I called a local locksmith who said he couldn't come that night but would the next day and provided me quotes. I found another locksmith and they said they wouldn't be able to come. I sorted through Yelp and found Lockbusters. Thank goodness! They were so responsive and did an expert job. I was so happy and would recommend them to everyone! read more

The reviews speak for themselves. All it took was a simple message to Jay and a photo of my door lock. I moved into a new condo and needed my locks changed ASAP since my super kept coming into my unit without my permission. This was for my personal safety and comfort. Jay quoted me the exact price (no hidden fees) and he showed up professionally and got the job done. No loud noises or drilling required. I paid with my credit card and it was a seamless transaction. I will only resort to him for any future lock issues. A++++++++ read more

Jay is the best. I highly recommend him, he's worth every penny. Called him a few years ago and he helped with an ancient lock on a security gate, it was dust but he managed to keep it together very securely. It still works well today. Called him again this week, his response time was just as rapid and so was his work time. Needed to add a deadbolt and fix the existing lock which was falling out. He's very personable, pleasant, respectful and helpful in cleaning up after all is done! A complete pleasure to invite into my home and make it feel more secure. read more

Love Jay! High recommend if you need lock work. Extremely quick to respond with price quote and has amazing rates. Made my appointment and he was here within a couple hours, I wasn't locked out or anything so timing wasn't an issue but he was here really quickly to complete the job. Such a nice guy, fixed some damage on my door lock free of charge, entire process was really quick and easy. He has flexible payment options, cc/venmo, I never have cash so that was nice. Great quality, affordable locksmith. Thanks Jay! Book with Jay you won't regret it! read more

I called Lockbusters today because I am moving out of an apartment and wanted to swap out the lock that I had installed for the one that was there when I moved in. Jay, the locksmith, showed up on time (5 min early actually) and even taught me how to do it myself in the future. It was done quickly. Jay is very personable and as an added bonus, he's a total cutie!! In a nutshell, great service at a reasonable price. I definitely recommend them. read more

Fast, very friendly and professional. Highly recommended for when you get locked out.

When I first saw the millions of 5-star reviews I thought "no way". But..WAY. Jay was friendly and funny on the phone making the appointment, showed up exactly when he said he would, did an awesome job in no time at all, and it cost exactly what he quoted me over the phone. Jay is a really cool guy, explained what he was doing, and put me totally at ease. Whether you are changing the locks on a new apartment (as I was) or are drunkenly locked out at 2am (he made it clear he handles those situations too!) call Lockbusters and you will be glad you did! read more

We needed a locksmith at work to fix gaps in a couple of doors that we had. I found Jay thru Yelp and was confident in using him because of his fantastic reviews. Jay was fantastic!!! Will use again and again. He was easy to reach and communicate with. We set an appointment and he was on time, knew what he was doing, found a solution and took care of our problem, all while keeping in touch about what he was doing. He made the whole process smooth and easy! read more

Jay is amazing! Such a sweet guy, came as soon as he could and gave me a discount on everything. Absolutely recommend. read more

What can I add that 180+ other people haven't already said? Jay gave us an estimate. It was a reasonable estimate. He came in at that estimate. He was friendly, both on the phone and in person. He was punctual. He didn't talk down to us. Besides changing our lock and fixing our deadbolt, he also came up with a good solution for plating over a doorknob we removed from a sealed door. This is the only locksmith you should ever call in New York. It's that simple. With all the unethical, greedy people out there, it's a pure joy and relief to work with a man such as Jay. He is a highly skilled, personable, trustworthy professional. We are so very lucky to have found him. read more

Had a great experience with Lockbusters today -- fabulous service, and on a Sunday, too! Isaac was prompt, courteous, efficient, and explained everything very well as he did his work. I liked that they promptly emailed me a receipt -- a nice touch. I would not hesitate to recommend them, and would absolutely use them again. read more

After getting really creepy texts and voicemails from my last locksmith, I decided to get my locks changed again and a chain installed. I emailed the company at 10 at night on a Saturday and Jay responded in under 10 minutes. He gave me a 1 hour time (super awesome for not having to wait around too long) and was there right on time, which is already above and beyond. He was so helpful and professional and a joy to talk to. They offer some peace of mind, I want to pay it forward by leaving another 5-star review. Lockbusters are rad. read more

Just to add to the accolades...Jay is professional, polite, reliable, quick, etc etc. Really. the man has it all going on. It's a no brainer. read more

I would, and have, recommend lockbusters to anyone looking for a locksmith. Jay come the day after my inquiry to change our lock. He was very knowledgeable, giving us an overview on what the existing lock was like, etc. He even recommended a cheaper service that what I initially called him for after looking at our lock. Service was very quick, and he left everything clean and tidied up. Didn't rush us through or seem hurried, chatted with us throughout the entire install, even recommending a couple of great pizza spots in our neighborhood. It felt great working with someone who was friendly and didn't try to cheap us out of our money! read more

I've used Jay at Lockbusters twice now. Once to add a deadbolt to my front door and then yesterday to add a lock in a closet door. Both times he quoted me a price on the phone and stuck to it on site. No extra charges or attempts to add things. Both times there were issues with the instal (very old building) but he stuck to his quote and was quick, tidy and friendly. It seems like the city is filled with swindlers in the locksmith dept. Lockbusters is for sure the exception. It's not cheap but i prefer to have an honest price up front than a lowball estimate that ends up much more because it was just a ploy to show up and add charges. You feel good about spending money with Lockbusters, they do a great job fast and efficiently. read more

Browsing yelp reviews to see who is legit? I was you a few weeks ago. And this is legit. At 11pm on a Saturday I submitted a quote through yelp not really expecting to hear back until after MLK weekend. Jay replied within 5minutes and was straight forward about costs and what to expect. He requested I text him photos of the lock I wanted to replace and answered questions I had about added security. He showed up within the time frame I requested the following Monday and gave me a heads up via text when he was close. The actual installation was lightning fast (under 30minutes) and then I was completely finished. Such a relief to have a direct honest service during the stress (ok and excitement) of moving to a new place. Thank you Jay! I will be a return customer for any locksmithing needs 100%. read more

Jay texted me immediately and was at my place within 20 minutes. Super kind, helpful, and got me into my place quickly. He also gave me the option to replace a part that would prevent this from happening again after explaining what and why my door wouldn't open. If I had any other problems with my lock I'd call him in a second! read more

We have had a number of bad experiences with locksmiths, but Jay was great. Quick replies by text, came within an hour and a half at night for an emergency, did the work quickly and for a reasonable price. Would absolutely recommend him and use him again. read more

These guys are the best - I used them once a decade ago, needed them again recently, and called hoping against hope they were still as good as they were then. I was not disappointed - on time, great job, reasonable cost, nice people who answer your questions and care about every interaction. They deserve their great reputation. read more

Gotta agree with Rachel -- JAY is the man!!! Professional, courteous and fast, can't beat the combination. In fact, Jay is WAITING (with no attitude) outside my building for my apartment guests, who locked themselves out on their first day in the city. --- will let you know, how it all ends.... The ending was perfect, Jay unlocked the door and only charged $49.00 on a Sunday evening, amazing!!!! read more

Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I had locked ourselves out of our new apartment a day after moving in. Fortunately, we had access to Yelp and were able to see the reviews here for Jay. Jay was amazing! After hearing so many horror stories of shady locksmiths, we were worried about being taken for a ride. Jay was everything other reviewers have said - he charged a flat fee, even took a little off because he couldn't be here immediately. Really, we couldn't thank him enough for helping us out when we were in such a tight spot. I hope if you are ever in the unfortunate position of needing an emergency locksmith that you are fortunate enough to meet Jay. read more

I can't say enough good things about Jay and Lockbusters! My roommates and I are new to New York, moved into a new apartment which we had heard had less than perfect security. I didn't know who to call so I checked out Yelp. Being three girls we were a bit squeamish, and I called to set up a top bolt and possible chain lock installation. Jay came exactly on time, was upfront about the costs, and never tried to push products on us. When I went to get keys made for the toplock, the other locksmith even said, "wow, this is a really good lock!" AND when there was a manufacturer's defect with out toplock (bolt sometimes stuck a bit) Jay came out immediately and replaced it AND gave us the chain lock for free. Such manners and hard work are rare! We're using him again to install window bars and I will definitely be calling him for any locksmith needs in the future. Jay knows his stuff, and is polite, professional, and nice. I highly highly recommend him. read more

Just wanted to add another well-deserved 5 star review to the bunch. I chose Lockbusters because of the Yelp reviews and in a few hours I was all set up with a new deadbolt lock on my door, hassle free. A few things I want to highlight: - Competitive and reasonable prices (the place on 14th street wanted to charge me twice as much) - Fast (I called, made an appointment for 2 hours later, he came and did it in 15 minutes) - Great service from start to finish (friendly and accommodating on the phone, explained to me what he was going to do, and swept up all the drill dust on the floor after he finished) read more

So, I have a habit of losing things. I'm on my 4th cell phone in the last 6 months. Recently, I had to call Jay with Lockbusters to return to my apt and repair a lock that I had stripped at 4am after losing my keys. Not only did he offer me a "repeat customer discount" of about 33%, but he also offerred to write the receipt to include the first repair (of our dead bolt) which our landlord had ridiculously refused to reimburse (despite multiple emails and phone calls detailing the security concerns). Anyway, this guy is incredible and I rarely give out 5 stars on this site, but he totally deserves it. read more

The nice guys! Very polite, very friendly, very concerned about cleaning up the dust after installing a strong new lock. Even walked to the ATM with me when I didn't have enough cash for the better lock we decided on. Recommend them 110%! read more
