Fast and friendly!!! Would highly recommend for all your locksmith needs!! They arrived right on time. I sent them pictures of the lock so they came prepared and charged me the exact price they quoted. It doesn't get better then that. read more

It's so stressful to lock yourself out of your apartment! But this is by far the most seamless and painless experience and that's all thanks to Jay! His 5/5 rating is truly deserving. I sent out a request for a quote and Jay responded within minutes. I was so happy that Jay accommodated an early morning call out, he arrived on time and was so pleasant to deal with. Jay was able to open the lock and get me back in my apartment quickly. Yay, to Jay! Highly recommended!!!! read more

It seems too good to be true, right? Everybody gives this guy 5 stars? I went searching for a new locksmith for the building I manage in Greenpoint after the famous local shop pissed me off one too many times. Jay was friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. I hope his business grows, and I will never use anyone else! read more

i needed a deadbolt installed on my door and Jay was very helpful in choosing the right one for me without pressuring me towards the more expensive options. I made an appointment to have it installed that day but a couple hours after the agreed upon time I called to find out what had happened. Jay was extremely apologetic and got to the bottom of the problem right away. Turns out the guy that was supposed to install it had to go to the hospital! Can't be mad at a guy that literally couldn't make it to my apt. Nevertheless Jay told to pick anytime and he would personally install it, plus 50% off to make up for the missed appointment. The next day he was on time, friendly, efficient, and considerate. I will definitely be using them in the future! read more

Very courteous and helpful. Did a great job and explained my options. They are very busy, so it may be difficult to get them to come immediately. Still, very happy with the job they did. Highly recommended. read more

J is a top notch professional who truly knows his trade. He was punctual, gave me pointers, efficient , took great pride in his work. Even told me to get my door hinges replaced ASAP! I would recommend him to my blind grandma ( if I had one). He is a rear find in the city. read more

I had an amazing experience with Lockbusters. They were professional, courteous, and went out of their way to be convenient for me and my schedule. They're extremely well priced and I highly recommend working with them. read more

Jay is amazing!!!!! Locked my keys in my apartment and was afraid I was going to have to pay an arm and a leg to get inside. Jay called me back so quickly and worked with my busy schedule to get me back into my apartment. Once he arrived he was in my apartment in under 5 minutes and his prices are incredible. Trust me when I say you need to call him if you are ever in a jam!!!!!! read more

What can I say, got locked out my apartment. I rang the number on the door, but they charged 40$ just to come for a look and tell me what the final price would be (later heard from my flatmate that it had cost somewhere in the region of 300 when it happened to her). Did a quick search online, saw the good reviews and gave Jay a call. He said he could make it in two-hours, but within half an hour called back to say he could be there in 5 minutes. Flat fee (and very very reasonable prices) meant no unpleasant surprises. Fast, efficient, friendly service. Would 100% recommend them. read more

Changing the locks in your apartment can be a traumatic experience, so we are all the more grateful for the excellent service provided by Jay. He was punctual and polite and was very clear in what we needed done. It turned out that our lock needed repair rather than replacement and Jay made an effort to save us some money. How often do you encounter a businessman with such honor? He repaired our lock and took the time to clean up after himself. Outstanding all around. I highly recommend him and would never considering using another locksmith. read more

I can't recommend Jay enough. He showed up early and did the work as promised. Done. Stop reading reviews and call him.

I had just moved into my condo and so many people promised to help put in my deadbolt lock and time after time, they would never show up. I knew it was time to call in a professional, after reading all the reviews I decided to reach out to Lockbusters. Holy Moley! Not only is he great too look at, but he does a great job and cleans up after wards. Ahhhh if more men were like that! Leave me wanting more!! lol!! But seriously, he did a great job, fast and such a reasonable rate. Thank you Lockbusters for stepping up to the plate and delivering! read more

We had a great experience with Lockbusters. We had a bit of a tricky situation, as we were replacing an old lock with a smart lock and there were already holes in the door in inconvenient places. Jay gave us good advice about what kind of lock would work for us, and Scott did a great, professional job with the installation. Highly recommend. read more

Turning my key upon returning home, the cylinder surrounding the key popped out. Pins went flying everywhere. My jaw dropped--locks aren't supposed to just break! But within five minutes, I'd regained my composure well enough to do a quick search on Yelp. Lockbusters came out at the top of my list, so I called and spoke to possibly the most pleasant professional ever. Our locksmith was out in Brooklyn at the time, but he set an appointment for a few hours later and even showed up a few minutes early. He was visibly competent and worked fast, all while keeping up a friendly conversation and explaining what he was doing. Even though it turned out we needed to replace the whole lock, the total price was still well within reach. He even accepted our credit card via an app on his iPhone. Highly recommended. read more

We had our self closing hinges on our door fixed and also a new deadbolt lock installed. Jay was super informative and diligent. He was extremely knowledgeable and very responsive through our text communications. Overall, Jay provided amazing service and we would definitely recommend Jay and Lockbusters to future prospects. read more

I am baffled after reading the reviews here. I called received outstanding immediate polite service and was told who wound be calling me. ?John arrived on time with car with another locksmith company name and phone on it and did not have the necessary tools to change the lock,. He went down to the car 3 times to get more tools. He was fiddling with the lock for a while and trying to use a standard screw driver which I knew wouldn't work because I have tightened this allen screw many times. I finally said something and he asked me if I had the right sized allen wrench. Well I do, but I definitely had the wrong locksmith. We aborted the mission. read more

I found these guys on Yelp, and I'm happy to give another great review here. I'm horrible - I forget our locksmith's name -- but he was Awesome. He was really friendly, didn't try and sell us anything we didn't really need, and was just efficient and skilled with all the lock stuff. He took off the mangled mess of a lock our landlord left us with, and the ass-backwards bar that went with it, hooked us up with solid and safe new locks, as well as talked to us a lot about our window-gate (what we need, how horrible ours was, etc. - and it Is horrible). We still have to talk to our landlord about that gate, but if he doesn't take care of it we're definitely having Lockbusters (or their other name) fix it. Thank you guys!!! read more

Really great service! Was flexible with my appointment time and super quick. Very professional and would definitely recommend. His quoted price was what I paid! read more

Got my lock busted quick and easy. A little pricey but not worth dragging down to 4 stars.

I was blown away but the level of customer service I received from Lockbusters. Not only did Jay call me within an hour to set up a time, he called again later to see if I wanted him to come earlier (I had asked for instillation as early as possible that day but he was booked until 3). When he arrived he showed me my options, and after we decided, he had the deadbolt installed in less than 20 minutes. He then swept the floor and charged me electronically. Overall, he was in and out in less than 30 minutes and now I feel a lot safer in the apt! read more

I called Lockbusters to change the locks on my new apartment, and Jay was great: knowledgeable, friendly, honest, and responsive. I'd gladly use Lockbusters again. read more

Am I allowed to write more than 1 review? Well I'm going to anyway, that's how great this company and these guys are. Super friendly and always on time if not early. They provide a great service and also provide additional recommendations based on need. Superb service and my number 1 go to guys! Am I considered a fan? Or a groupie? Oh well I'll take! Thanks again guys! read more

Excellent response time. The company didn't have the service I was looking for (home alarm service) but was professional and helpful. You'll be on my list if I need a locksmith service. Thank you! read more

I used the owner several times in my last apartment that had a tricky lock. He was always quick to arrive and break us in. He knows the mechanics of locks and doors very well, and is the most honest, fairly-priced person around. The experience has been so positive, I used Lockbusters to change all of the locks for my new business and replace a door. Jay's easy on the eyes, too! ;) read more

Disclaimer: I didn't actually end up using Lockbusters so this review is for their customer service. I called based on the wonderful reviews here and the woman who answered said she'd page him to call me. I said it wasn't an emergency and that same day was fine - Jay called me back within 10 minutes. Unfortunately he wasn't going to be in my neighborhood until sometime next week but suggested I call Menna at NIght & Day who is based in the neighborhood and might be able to get to me sooner. I really appreciated the quick call back and forthright info even turning away business so that I got served faster. Will definitely keep his info handy ( as well as Mena at NIght & Day who I used) for future needs. read more

Fast arrival, great service, cheaper than I thought it would be. I'd definitely call again. I used Yelp to find someone when I was locked out of my apartment and realized I didn't have my key. Yelp steered me well! read more

After years of dealing with an overpriced, surly neighborhood locksmith, I decided to try someone else and, boy, am I glad I did. All the five-star reviews you read here are accurate. Jay's response time was rapid, he asked me questions to ensure that he had the necessary tools and parts so that his visit would be productive and efficient, and his attitude and energy were incredibly positive. His completion time was fast and the price better than what I'd paid previously. I recommend him as highly as possible. read more

I just moved to a new place and I noticed that previous tenant had been coming back to get his mail. So I figured why not change the mailbox lock and also get the locks to my door re-keyed. The mailbox lock was easy to swap out by myself. But for the re-keying I needed a pro. I checked Yelp and the only one I found around me with reputable ratings was Lockbusters. They're based in the east village but they do service my area in Brooklyn. I called in the morning while waiting for cable guy (who was late as expected) and sure enough they had availability for late afternoon and gave me a fixed price for the job. Jay said he could be there around 5:30 or 6. Fine by me. I get a call from Jay at 4:30 saying he can make it even earlier. Great!!! He shows up at 4:45. The work was quick despite problems with my fancy Omnia locks. He gets the job done and I'm good to go. He even grinded the deadbolt hole to make the lock easier to turn. Great service and I'll be sure to contact them anytime for any locksmith services. read more

Jay fixed me up with a solid lock at my new place and I plan to hire him in the future for more work.

Woohoo! Here's why i just sent Lockbusters' contact info to everyone i know: - CLEAR, FLAT RATES ($89 to pick the lock, and another $89 to replace it if it can't be picked)-- NO MONKEY BUSINESS - CHEAPEST LOCKSMITH IN MANHATTAN (on weekends, anyway) - FAST SERVICE - COURTEOUS AND KNOWLEDGEABLE PHONE SUPPORT I locked myself out of my apartment at around 5 pm on a Saturday. I called around 15 local locksmiths, nearly all of whom refused to quote me a price up front. Considering all the variables at play (Could the lock be picked or would it need to be drilled? How long would it take to pick the lock? If it had to be drilled, how much would the proper replacement shaft cost?), I was facing unspecified fees of up to $250. This worried me, especially since, in the past, I've had a number of in-home technicians raise their fees once they see that I live in a luxury building. Plus, this seemed to be a particularly tough job--the building's handyman informed me that these locks were unpickable. I chose Lockbusters after speaking to its owner, Jay Sofer. He took about 30 minutes in two separate conversations answering ALL of my questions about potential price outcomes and replacement issues-- he was patient and thorough in his responses. Unlike most other locksmiths I spoke to, Jay offers CLEAR and FLAT prices for a visit: $89 to pick a lock, and, if necessary, another $89 to replace the lock shaft. He even promised that, if need be, he could upgrade my new lockshaft to match my door's fixtures after the weekend (when the special order lock shaft came in) at no additional cost. After initially setting an appointment for 10-11 pm, Jay called me with a cancellation for 7.30. Now i wouldn't have to kill my Saturday night waiting to get into my apartment. Jay arrived on time. I was ready to camp out in the hallway and watch the 30- to 40-minute ordeal unfold when, sure enough, Jay picked the lock in 45 SECONDS FLAT. I couldn't believe my eyes. Jay could've taken advantage of the situation by claiming the lock was unpickable, replacing the lockshaft, and charging me the full $178 replacement fee-- which is still on par with the price that most other locksmiths charge JUST TO PICK A LOCK on the weekends-- but he didn't. I paid my $89 fee (plus tax) and he was out of there about 10 minutes after arriving. So: CHEAP, FAST, and HONEST- that's everything you need in a locksmith. Lockbusters is OFF THE HOOK! read more

I called Lockbusters based on the reviews as well and they were great. The service was fast and the locksmith even gave me a small discount because I had multiple locks to change. read more

Jay was friendly, professional and super fast. He was on time and came prepared with 2 different types of locks for me to choose based on our needs and budget. He answered all my questions and finished installing a deadbolt lock in less than 15 minutes. He even asked for a dust pan and broom to clean up after the job. Would absolutely use Lockbusters again. Excellent service. read more

Fair price quoted up front and they accepted credit cards on the spot, all of which were big pluses. They were 20+ mins late to my appointment which is my only complaint and reason for docking a star. Would definitely use again. read more

I had a great experience with Jay and would recommend him to anyone. When my key got stuck in my top lock, I contacted Jay and he got back to me right away and was able to meet the next morning to help me. Jay came over and fixed my broken lock for WAY less than I expected. Was SO professional, friendly and amazing!!! Also, clearly an animal lover, so extra points for that. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place in my Google search for a locksmith! Anyone out there who needs a locksmith, search no further!! This guy is the REAL DEAL. He clearly knows his stuff and is so conscientious. Cannot write enough positive things. THANK YOU JAY!!!! You rock!!! read more

Could not have had a better experience. Gold medal for the Olympic locksmith.

I give them 2 thumbs up. I was able to get same day service - as in, I called in and 20 min later Jay was at my door. Then, 20 min later, he had the lock installed. He even swept the floor where he'd been working. If you need a locksmith, you won't go wrong with them. read more

Great people and fast. I called and they came in literally 5 minutes and had a new cylinder in 2 mins.

You know a business is done right when they give a reasonable time frame and actually arrive earlier than expected. Great service, very knowledgeable, positive attitude, and best of ...........they came when it close to closing time on a weekday. Who would of thought Jay and his sidekick Scott (hope I got his name right) came the night I called them and the next day to replace the counterfeit lock with a great sturdy heavy duty lock he recommended!!!!!!!! It's been almost 3 months and no issues. Why cut yourself short when you can get things done right and get better quality products and service (worth it). I have recommended this locksmith business to other establishments I know of, cheers to you Jay and Scott read more

First off! I spoke with a guy to schedule an appointment to change my lock. Nice guy, and polite. Boom done! Unfortunately, the day off my appointment, there was a mix-up and had to reschedule. I spoke with Cal, who was great guy, and he apologized for the inconvenience. I wasn't bitter about it, because it happens. "No point in crying over spilt milk!" So I rescheduled for a weekend appointment. Sure enough, the locksmith was dead on time! Jay was the locksmith who took on my appointment. He was quick changing my whole lock and gave me an awesome deal! He was an awesome guy and also polite. We chatted and he gave me a few pointers about NY since I just moved here from Cali. Overall, besides the scheduling error, these guys are awesome! read more
