Without at doubt 5 STARS. I wish I could give them 100! I own a hair salon in the East village and needed our lock for our front door changed. I e-mailed them in the morning, they gave me quick reply. Jay asked for pictures and sent them as requested. He came at 4pm as said, and changed our lock in 10 minutes. Great price, great service, and simply just a great guy. Thank you so much, you saved our day. read more

Would absolutely recommend. Jay is a super nice guy and incredibly professional. Had to get my apartment door opened and re-keyed, and he made the experience quick and painless. It'd be a mistake to consider any other company for the job. Seriously. read more

I've never used a locksmith before so I don't have too much to compare them to, but these guys were AWESOME. I had initially scheduled an appointment with Jay, but he had something come up and worked to get another of his colleagues to my apartment within the timeframe he had originally given me. Isaac arrived right when my original appointment was, and was so kind and courteous. He installed a deadbolt on my door and stayed with me for several minutes while he made sure that I knew how to lock and unlock the bolt properly. He even showed me several things about the other lock on my door (which he didn't install) that I hadn't known previously. I would highly recommend Lockbusters to anyone in need of a locksmith. They were extremely professional throughout the process, and more importantly they were SO nice! Thank you, Isaac, for your help with the new lock and for teaching a lock-challenged person like myself how to properly use my locks and make sure I won't get locked out of my apartment! read more

I think the guy I had was Jay..he was great! Very quick and very professional. He was also very flexible with timing when I kept changing my schedule around. I had him install a chain lock for me and I already had the lock he just had to drill it in. Good price as well, so many other companies tried to rip me off for this simple job. Definitely will use again. read more

When I saw all the amazing reviews, I thought "can a locksmith really be this great?" Yes. They Can. I got locked out of my apartment the other night, with a busted doorknob that wouldn't turn. Jay had a bunch of other jobs but made sure to keep in touch with me and let me know what time he'd be there. Showed up in an hour and within 10 minutes, my door was opened. And he completely fixed my doorknob all for under $100 late night. Jay doesn't want to rip you off, and you can tell he really wants to do a great job and be friendly while also helping the customer out. Also, get this. As I was thanking him for only having to sit outside for about an hour, he says how sorry he is and hands me a lockbusters Christmas gift with hot chocolate and a big mug. Seriously? Will never call another locksmith again. read more

Incredible job. Fast response. Jay is professional and courteous. The whole process took merely 5-10 min. Price was reasonable and was exactly what was quoted. Highly recommended! read more

Highly recommend Lockbusters !! I was locked out of my apt and they were able to meet me at my apartment within 45 mins. There were no hidden fees and the prices were extremely reasonable! read more

Bottom line: Jay is a top-notch locksmith who was polite, timely, and highly knowledgeable. From the first phone inquiry to the professional completion of the lock change, the service was impeccable and the price was right. We have hired his services twice now and I cannot more confidently recommend a locksmith for both residential and commercial properties. The first time we requested Jay's services was in September when we moved into our new apartment (the previous tenant moved out and didn't leave the deadbolt key, thanks). Moderate Google searching, Lockbusters' simple and clear website, and a quick phone call with Jay confirmed that he was by far the most promising of all the locksmiths in the lower Manhattan area. Jay arrived at our apartment early the next day and confirmed that we didn't need a top lock change - a cylinder change was sufficient enough (and saved us over $50). After our business was broken into a couple weeks ago, I immediately recommended Jay to our office manager. His professionalism was as good as I remembered it: He was at our office within a couple hours and quickly had all the locks changed out at the prices quoted on his website, which were - again - by far better than any competitor. Our office manager, even in her chaotic state, was so impressed with his friendliness that she sent his contact information around the entire office. I wouldn't want to need to call a locksmith again, but should something happen in the future, Jay will be the guy I go to. read more

My roommate and I accidentally locked ourselves out of our apartment when we were in a rush - after calling many different locksmiths, we decided to go with Jay because his pricing was much more reasonable. He came quickly (even though we are in brooklyn) and unlocked our door in less than five minutes! Overall, exceptional service, very fair pricing, and a good experience despite our silly situation. read more

Great service. Jay arrived between 10 and 11 as promised to install a lock for my front door. He was super friendly, humble, professional, and efficient. I am very pleased with the service and overall experience and would readily and highly recommend Lockbusters read more

I moved in with no lock in my door - after putting in a quote on yelp and getting numerous responses I chose Jay from Lockbusters based on his five star rating and over 300 reviews! Jay came over in the afternoon just as he said he would. He didn't like the way that the past lock was in the door so for the same price he drilled a new hole. He then instructed my boyfriend to go get a dummy lock from the hardware store to fill the hole. James ran out and got it and jay installed it for us with no extra charge. He was courteous, quick, and the trustworthy. Thanks so much, Jay! read more

I wanted a more secure lock on my door, and Jay provided me with a range of options with a full explanation of each one -- so much better than the other locksmiths I called, who basically gave me one-word, non-negotiable answers. He was prompt, extremely friendly, and had a fair price. I was really blown away by how positive the whole experience was; I will definitely recommend this company to all my friends. read more

Great working ethic and professionalism. Same day service and fairy priced. Thank you for the good service.

Jay is the best. He responded immediately on a Saturday, was professional, friendly, explained everything thoroughly, including my options, arrived quickly, finished quickly, honored the flat rate quote, and is a wealth of information about security, and NYC living. I highly recommend him, and if I ever need a locksmith again, I'll be calling Jay. Excellent customer service! read more

I just had the cylinder changed on my apartment door lock because my former super was recently arrested for using duplicate keys to break into apartments. Creepy, right? I went with Lockbusters after seeing all these positive Yelp reviews, and it was such a positive experience I feel like I have to chime in and give him five stars too. Jay was right on time for our appointment, worked quickly, did the whole thing for exactly what he quoted me, and it turns out he got his dog from the same rescue place where I got my cat! I guess that last part doesn't really reflect on his locksmithing skills, but he was super-nice. If I ever need a locksmith again, no question about who I'll call. read more

I just had Jay from Lockbusters assist with tightening my deadbolt lock and he was the best. He was only running 5 minutes late and made sure to call me 15 minutes before to ask if this was ok. He was very professional, courteous, helpful, quick, and inexpensive. He was able to get the job done in about 10 minutes! Lockbusters is reliable, accessible and the best, most trustworthy locksmith company I have found in New York. read more

Such a great experience with Jay! He was prompt and courteous. I will use his services again!

The reviews are true - Jay is great! Called yesterday after a bad experience at the hardware store and he arrived today, installed the lock and cleaned up too! He was able to quickly access my door and what was needed to get the job done. Above all he was prompt, nice and provided excellent service! read more

Perfect! Went from the bummer of having a broken door knob & lock on a Saturday morning to getting everything perfectly fixed by the afternoon. Jay was on time and even texted tot tell me he was in traffic. It was all as smooth as silk! I would highly recco to anyone! read more

After reading all the 5 star reviews on yelp I figured I would give these guys a call but I was STILL skeptical because the company seemed too good to be true. Well... yelpers had it right all along. Jay called me the morning after I wrote in on the website late the night before. Since my problem wasn't dire (I just had crappy locks) he arranged to come the next day and he was super professional, super personable and very straightforward. He looked at the locks, listened to the problems I was having, suggested a solution with the prices I already knew from the website and in 20 minutes I had an awesome new lock and doorknob installed by someone I felt cared about doing a good job. Jay even told my boyfriend what kind of maintenance could be needed in the future to make sure the doorknob continues to work properly. I wish all repairs could be this easy and not sketchy. read more

By far & away the best locksmith experience I've had. Jay & his girlfriend (whose name I sadly forget!) were really sweet and did such a great job. I will definitely recommend them for any job and will definitely bring by baked goods to the main shop! read more

What it means to go above and beyond... Wednesday I was completely blown away by the honest, informed, and personable service I received from Lockbusters. Two locksmiths visited me within two hours to help solve my unique lock-change issue. Jay, the first locksmith, did his best to work within my budget and accommodate my needs. However, we ran into a snag with the construction of my door and his available parts. No big deal, with a reassuring smile on his face, he transformed what would be a two-day wait for parts into an "I'll give this over to the other locksmith and he can come see you in a couple of hours with the right parts." Less than two hours later, in walked Scott, a locksmith-MacGyver with a vast knowledge of the trade. He quickly assessed my situation, and decided it best to take a different route in securing my new apartment. In doing so, he knocked $129 off what I initially expected to spend, while giving me an even greater amount of break-in security. He noted the huge discount, but shrugged it off saying, "I understand budgeting, and we're not about money. We're not like that." Amazing, right? Not finished. Here's the kicker, once he completed changing a lock, he offered to walk me to a hardware store to purchase a peephole and a new secure doorknob for my bedroom--I was preparing for a Craigslist roommate and one can never be too safe with those! He looked up the closest store, accompanied me, did all the talking and then came back, immediately getting to work. Though Scott's work ethic is second to none, it can't go without noting he is an awesome, intelligent person. We discussed everything from Occupy Wall Street to martial arts to ballet and even found ourselves on the often risky subject of police brutality. I didn't feel like a service was being provided by a stranger, rather one of my kick ass friends came over to help me out. Because of this amazing experience, you better believe I dipped into the discount I saved to give a really good tip. Trust me, you will too! read more

I'm not ever a reviewer but felt compelled to say how good I thought this service was. Jay is definitely the man to get the job done and as they promise, no hidden costs. Quick, efficient and very pleasant.... It almost would make being locked out a pleasure... read more

Moving into a new apartment always seems to be such a feat, but Jay made it more than simple. He arrived ahead of schedule and with everything I needed. He told me what I needed and the best locks and price for the job. I am a naive girl and he didn't over charge me when he totally could have. He needed to come back the next day and finish the job and he refused to let me pay him till it was a 100%. I will recommend him to anyone who gets locked out, needs new locks, or is just looking to hear some crazy stories. Thank you!! read more

I highly recommend Jay! He is extremely professional, efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable about locks/security. Even with the snowstorm here in NYC, he was very accommodating, responsive, and flexible about scheduling a time with us. After describing our lock situation and what the job entailed over the phone, he was able to give me a (very reasonable) quote immediately - unlike other locksmiths who dodged giving quotes and said they would just tell me the price after the job. Jay's awesome! Very trustworthy. Even gave great restaurant recommendations in our new neighborhood! I wouldn't use any other locksmith in NYC again! read more

Lockbusters is phenomenal. I've had girlfriends treat me less well. Jay (the owner and dude in the video) is reliable, honest, and a super nice guy. I have an interior closet with a painted over lock and no key in a building from the late 1800s. Upon emailing, Jay immediately responded asking for photos of the lock so he knew exactly what gear to bring. We scheduled a time, he was punctual, and replaced my lock in about 15 minutes. I don't know why you'd call anyone else. Stop Yelping around and email them now. read more

Very prompt reply on requesting a quote. Just as all the other reviewers Jay is great Arrived on time and just got my lock working in no time. Fixed my lock in no time and now it works amazing. Above all he donated my tips directly to a pet rescue center. How amazing is that!! I will def call him again if I have any other issues. read more

My fiancé and I just moved into a new apartment and wanted to install an additional lock for security. I contacted Jay based on all of the positive Yelp reviews, and I'm definitely glad I did. He was able to fit us in a day later (which was fine, since we wouldn't be moving our furniture until the weekend.) Jay arrived on time and had the deadbolt on the door in about 15 minutes. He charged a very reasonable price and was very personable. I'd definitely call him again if I need something. read more

Our apartment's lock had stopped working and it seemed as though we might have to replace the whole mechanism. We gave Jay a call and he was able to help us right away! It was a quick fix and he was very helpful. Would definitely recommend him to anyone! read more

Thanks Lockbusters! The man has glowing reviews for a reason - because his service is professional, efficient & on-top-of-it. This was one of the only sites that quotes prices upfront - check. Jay presented options w/ no pressure - check. He does the job w/ a smile & a sense of humor - check. The service is top notch & that's what what matters the most. I will recommend Lockbusters to anyone and everyone. Jay has a wide range of locks and will explain the differences in price points and features -- it's up to you to pick the one you want. I ended up with the deadbolt for the simple fact that I can take it with me. (BTW, the company is also known as Affordable Locksmith NYC if you're looking around) read more

At half past 10p on a Monday night, there is nothing more annoying than a busted deadbolt that you cannot open when leftover Smith & Wollensky is in one hand and workout clothes in the other. I had been waiting for the day/night when my MacGyver skills would fail, or more accurately, the poor install would crumble. The cylinder could almost be pulled out and key parts of the cylinder had fallen. Applying pressure or shifting the key itself would not matter. I called the first listing populated by Yelp and gleefully saw that Lockbusters operated beyond 6p. Really? Who gets home by 6p in this working world. The dispatcher took details of the situation on the phone and promised the repair man would be there in 30 minutes. Not two minutes later, the aforementioned repair man called to say he was 17 minutes away. 20 minutes passed and he was parked across my street. He deftly applied another method to the lock when a simpler version failed. Once the main parts were removed, the replacement deadbolt took a mere 2 minutes. I tested the two keys, and he wrote a receipt. Cash or charge is acceptable. Discover is even OK, which is rare in NYC. The fee for lock removal is $79 and lock replacement is another $79. $158 plus tax. I am getting reimbursed, so his timeliness and jovial customer service was much appreciated as I wanted to sleep more than anything. I highly recommend this company, and for midnight headaches, it is worth the cost. Quick and friendly service trumps cheap every time. read more

Locked myself out after taking out the trash. Typical. Anyways contactdd these guys via the Yelp app and Jay was super responsive. He had the best estimate by far and we set up an early morning time to meet and he showed up early even. Got in and he used some amazing noninvasive nondestructive way to get into the door and that was that. Took about 5 minutes. Cool dude too. Anyways highly recommended. read more

These guys are great! Very kind, patient, thorough and communicative. Received a response to every message and call I sent. The work was done professionally, very clean and durable. Eliminated my key amount from 6 keys to 2. They take many forms of payment, such as checks, cards, and even PayPal. I would definitely use them again! read more

I highly recommend Lockbusters to anyone in the depressing situation that is being locked out of your apartment. Jay responded to my inquiry in about 5 minutes letting me know the quote and his availability for the day. He texted me updates letting me know where he was and apologized for being late, even though he arrived well within the half hour window we set for an appointment time. Once Jay arrived, I felt like I had known him my whole life. He was super personable and friendly to the point you will be sad he isn't actually there to hang. Not only did Jay unlock my door for me (savior), he educated me about the kind of lock I have and also fixed my doorknob for me which, unbeknownst to me, was on backwards - all in about 10 minutes and for the original quote he had told me earlier in the day. I would never even consider contacting anyone else next time it happens (which it inevitably will) and have already recommended Jay to several of my friends. Don't waste your time looking anywhere else! read more

Lockbusters arrived very quickly and went out of their way to ensure that my lock was taken care of quickly and efficiently. They were incredibly trustworthy and friendly, and explained the locks to me and made sure everything was safe. Highly recommended. read more

Jay is quick and professional. Doesn't ask any extra questions or pry, which made me feel comfortable. This is really how you want a locksmith securing your home to act, isn't it? Total opposite of the overly solicitous manager of my apartment who gives off a total creepy vibe... and necessitating the lock in the first place. read more

Today I checked my previous reviews and realized that I've never put a review for this wonderful business. Jay had helped my wife and I install a new door lock in our home about 2 years ago in queens. He is super professional and made the process very painless. Normally this would be a 4 star review but after the new lock install our door malfunctioned causing the lock be stuck closed. Without hesitation Jay drives over, in the middle of the night, from the city to help fix our issue even though it wasn't his fault. This business definitely deserves the 5 stars. read more

I am so happy I used Lockbusters, Jay came out today on a Sunday morning to swap my apartment door lock, I had suggested Monday but it's easier to park in Hells Kitchen at weekends. Jay still only charged me $107 including tax for the lock and total service which I think is a massively reasonable price. Jay was really friendly and a pleasure to deal with. read more

This was such a good experience. My backpack was stolen this weekend with my keys and a piece of mail with my address inside. I was obviously nervous about someone out there having my keys and address, so I decided to get the locks changed. I'm a grad student and I was concerned about getting ripped off, especially after reading other reviews on yelp saying they were charged $300+. Luckily, I didn't have to worry about a thing with Jay. I sent him pictures of the lock and he quoted me $99 plus tax. He did the job in five minutes, and accepted Venmo which was great because my wallet was also inside the stolen bag. He was even great with my playful dog! This was a huge relief and such an easy process. Definitely recommend Jay and will use him for any future issues I have. read more
